Hello, hello

Thanks Rubes and Beans. I'm don't think it is going to turn out to be chickenpox. When nursery rang me yesterday they more or less told me it was a forgone conclusion as there is nothing else going round. I know it would be better for them both to get it over and done with really but I still can't bear the idea of them getting it. I clearly remember having chickenpox and how grim it was.

arti Can you get some extra help with some of the school runs? A childminder or similar? Maybe share some of the afterschool club runs with other parents so you take DD1 and a friend one week and the other parents do it the next.

rubes Hope the meeting goes well! I've spoken to a few friends about these and each school seems to drive home a different rule. One local school emphasised the importance and tying hair back and plaiting it (nits avoidance), and another FULL toilet training (their emphasis!).

deids Really glad your email had an effect. Good on you!

jam Thrilled with your scan news! Very exciting. We didn't find out with either of ours but I can see why people do. In fact I prefer it when other people do which is probably a bit odd.

ZJ Hello!

spot Did I miss any job news? Didn't you have two interviews lined up?

So sorry to have missed lots of people out, I forgot to make notes and my memory has failed me.

Our holiday was brilliant and taking two young children across europe solely by train turned out better than I expected! Sticker books and snacks worked brilliantly and the time flew by. We had blazing sunshine in Italy, snow in Austria (which we saw from the train) and pouring rain in Munich. Both DD's really enjoyed themselves and were much better than they are at home with trying new foods. DD2 slept better than she does at home and they enjoyed playing with other children on the site.

Oh and One Direction were in Verona when we visited. Thousands of screaming italian teenage girls singing or screaming. It was odd how many entire families, dads brothers and all were there.

Right, stuff to do before bed. Night all.

Vagolajahooli · 12/06/2013 21:46

Hons that sounds awesome. I would love to take the boys away somewhere by train. I love trains for long distance travel. The sleeping compartments are so cool.

Rubes it is 5 days but nursery's have their own policies & most go with the scabbed over rule. This usually occurs about 7 days after. I would take her on Monday she'll be fine by then.

DB I am being a little naughty & having quinoa & legumes, which aren't strictly no carb. In fact I had a delicious quinoa & roast veg dish tonight. Yummers. So far so good though. I'm doing lots of cycling with the boys & I have a bunch of weights I keep in the livingroom and try to use them whenever I walk past them. I'm determined to look a bit slimmer by the time I leave for Oz.

Thinking white light thoughts for the interview Spot. Your FB posts about T are so funny.

beans37 · 12/06/2013 22:00

One, that sounds magical. Not the One Direction bit so much, but the rest of it. I love how holidays effect them. Ow. We were looking at the grey sky this morning and DD1 sighed and said 'I wish we were back in Oman'. V sweet.

So yes, I'm being properly grumpy and am in bed. If I'm totally honest, I'm finding this third pregnancy quite a strain. Backache, irritable and tired all the time. I don't want to go on about it to anyone (except you lot!) but finding it quite hard to cope. Ho hum. How on earth will I manage come September??

Mum has had an offer on her house, which is great, but suspect will be a bit emotional when it goes. It is SUCH a gorgeous place and I grew up there from 11. Will miss it v much. But it's a good thing for Mum.

Rubena · 13/06/2013 00:52

Deids I just scrolled down to re read your post as dh just said exactly that about muscle edema from working muscles hard!
Big boy school meeting was lovely. They were a really nice group of reception teachers and they gave us a little induction bag of games and puzzles and things for ds to do plus all school info which we return at the first 2 hour session. Sounds like a nice school. They didn't really bang on about anything significantly? The only thing they mentioned more than once was labeling stuff well and that it wasn't important to buy every single school item from the school as its hard to go through 60 pe bags to find the right one etc if teachers need to for any reason, so they encourage getting some things elsewhere, everyones are t the same. Anyway all very approachable and chilled.
Right dd been asleep ages since I Poxclined her so I should be too.... !

Rubena · 13/06/2013 00:56

Oh and hons great that its not, if that's better for you at moment. I know what you mean. Hols sound fab.
Beans great news for your mums house. I can imagine it's a bit sad but for the best it sounds all round so it's really great news x

sybilfaulty · 13/06/2013 05:41

Morning all.

Hons that sounds fab. What a lovely trip. We did something similar around Southern Spain when the girls were similar ages and it was lovely. They are so portable when small aren't they.

Beans, sorry to hear about your mum's house. Can she move closer to you?

Rubes, sympathies on the pox. How is DD now? My DD2 had so many pox we ended up in hospital and there is not a mark on her now.

Bad news here. I am in my 3rd redundancy programme in 4 years. The "voluntary " package is stat redundancy plus notice only so no incentive to go. To say I am pissed off is an understatement. Hey ho, let's see what unfolds over the next few weeks.

Rubena · 13/06/2013 08:08

Sybs sorry about the work situation. What sort of time frame is it? Do you have any clue how its all going to unfold?
Great night here. Not a peep from dd after I Poxclined her around 830pm. That stuff is pure gold. If course it could always be that it was night 3 and we were over the hump.

Very excited. Costco is opening a store about 30 min from us! Dh is giddy.

Rubena · 13/06/2013 08:09

She's still asleep now too Shock

Mckayz · 13/06/2013 10:17

That is crap Sybs.

beans37 · 13/06/2013 15:10

Oh Sybs, I'm so sorry. What a nightmare. Do you think you can ride it out?

Artichook · 13/06/2013 16:26

That doesn't sound good Sybs. Are there many j

Artichook · 13/06/2013 16:29

Oops! Are there many jobs going in your area if you have to look for a new one? I hope so.

Sorry you are finding this pregnancy hard Beans. I remember the feeling well. It's a lot nicer now yummy little DS is here. Seriously, you will cope fine in Sept, I'm surprised how well DS has fitted into our little fam and I bet you will feel the same.

Glad you had a good night Rubes. Is your DD scratching at all? Hopefully she can avoid the scars.

ShadyLadyT · 13/06/2013 21:13

Major bummer Sybs Sad Very sorry. So unfair. xxx

Sorry I didn't do catch up but now I have a virus so will be back tomorrow as I actually have to sit down.

Rubena · 14/06/2013 08:00

Arti she's much better thanks. Even yesterday they were going down quite fast and not so red. She's barely scratched actually. A couple of times I've stopped her and have sometimes seen her squirm and scratch her back on something but nothing major. Not sure if its the Poxclin or the fact that only about 10% of them actually opened up and are scabbing.

Sybs are you there? Any update on work?

Lady I hope you feel 100% better for your trip!

ZuleikaJambiere · 14/06/2013 08:41

Sorry about your job worries Sybs, you've obviously been a keeper in the past, as you've got through the other redundancies. But I assume your staff pool is much smaller now, so a greater chance of not being kept this time. My fingers are crossed for you

How did the interviews go Spot?

Glad to hear that DD is on the mend. The pox is doing the rounds of DD2s baby group so I'm waiting for her to get, although I'd prefer not this year as she's still too small to understand about not scratching

DD2 is walking, so cute to see her tottering around, and she's so pleased with herself. But her feet are too dinky for shoes, the smallest size we can get are still half a size too big. Good job she's a late walker, imagine if she'd needed shoes 6 months ago!

Vagolajahooli · 14/06/2013 09:20

Rubes I remember ds1 only needing the poxclin for tge first couple of days so your right it has probably settled down now. Just as an aside, did you know schools can't legally exclude a child for having an infectious disease. It is to do with a law that was passed as a result of HIV + kids being excluded from schools in the late 80's early 90's. So if anyone pushed it they could I send their child with chicken pox to school. I don't know if nurseries are covered by the same rules though.

DB and Rubes I'm joining you on the daily 30min work out routine. I can't run at the moment because my knee hurts when I run. Plus I've been thinking for a while now that running really isn't good for me. I found a lower body workout on youtube with some company called befit that I did yesterday & then last night dh & I did their extreme fat burning workout, ouch. I'm feeling it today. But I'm going to do an abs workout tonight. I am on a mission to be buff by the time we go to Australia. I feel like I might already have some decent muscles...I just need to remove the layers of fat that are hiding them Grin

Sybs sorry about the job stress, do you know anyone who is thinking of taking the redundancy?

ZJ well done to babyzj for her toddling! I would hang back on buying shoes for as long as possible, they are so expensive. With ds2 someone gave me those little soft leather shoes & he wore those when he needed to. He started walking in winter when we had all that snow in 2009/2010 so he couldn't walk outside anyway.

Rubena · 14/06/2013 09:57

Vag yes it's magic stuff. She would be ok for nursery anyway as they said their policy is 5 days or scabs. She only goes Mondays so will hardly be noticeable then. Silly part is, remember just before the pox I said dd had a spot on her face she wouldn't stop picking and I had tried everything? That one is flat now but still red and looks like a giant pox! It was totally unrelated. Dh reckons it will fade thankfully as its very large.

Yesterday I went for 45 min and actually jogged quite a bit. I discovered footpaths that go all over our local golf course which I didn't know was so accessible from us. It was lovely and the first time I really enjoyed it. My legs are aching today but dh gone overnight tonight do might just do some light weights tonight. I really feel better for doing a bit each or every other day.

ZJ how old is dd now?

Mckayz · 14/06/2013 10:21

If you had to murder someone how would you do it? My Mum is 50 next weekend and my step-dad is only sorting stuff now and has asked me to sort out a cake. I have no time and limited funds. She got him a big fancy cake for his last year and this is going to be awful in comparision.

Arghhhhhhhhhh.

DeidreBarlow · 14/06/2013 11:45

Sybs that is rubbish about the job, what time frame are you looking at to get some clarification on things?

Lady hope your feeling better.

Day 11 of the shred and I'm feeling good Grin. I bought some proper hand weights and can really feel the difference in the routine as opposed to using Tins of beansBlushGrin. Well I haven't lost any weight but have lost an inch if each thigh and half an inch if my waist! I'm chuffed. Defo feel less flabby!! I reckon I will lose weight after the full 30 days and the fluid retention seems to be sorting itself out

Vag I know what you mean about running and knees. Bad knees run in my family and I just wasn't feeling that rush at the end of a run anymore, so needed to switch up the exercise. No point stressing my knees if I wasn't even enjoying it!

Rubena · 14/06/2013 11:58

Deids that's a brilliant result so far! Great incentive to keep it up. I always find, that when I've done zero exercise then start doing some, it takes about 3-4 week before any change in wright, and then suddenly it falls off quickly. Especially if diet has improved I think it takes awhile for your body to register it.

Yeah vag I'm doing the same for my hols as I just feel a little too wobbly to be donning a bikini after the long cold wine bingey winter / spring! Hmm
I think your hols are same time as me. 4 weeks Shock

Hmm dunno kayz. Any chance you have or know someone with Costco membership as I noticed really big impressive cakes in there for about 10 or 15 and they were huge. Might get one for dds birthday as there's no way ill have time with all our visitors. Plus I'm useless at cakes. Smile

Vagolajahooli · 14/06/2013 13:49

Kayz that is really annoying for you and dissapointing that he isn't putting the effort in that she did. I can only help with kids cakes that are cheap & that is ASDA. But not sure about big people's cakes.

Fark girls I am in agony here. That lower body work out has left my butt and thighs feeling quite pained to say the least. Oh well its all good...isn't it. Good on you on the running Rubes. I would like to keep up the off road running, I have a race in the dunes here next month & an open water swim. I think if this knee doesn't sort itself I might just be doing the swim. The good thing is it has gotten me back to cycling. I have a lovely road bike and there are some great rides to do here so it will be nice to get back to that.

Well done on the inches loss DB, I will admit I've not measured but I've taken a photo of myself in my gum gear with a very aggressive muffin top. I'm hoping to take another photo soon with that gone.

Rubena · 14/06/2013 14:28

Yes I've got some weird below buttock pain at back of legs which is bothering me today Vag. Am pleased though as its a problem area Grin no pain no gain.
Urgh. Going to pick up ds later and that will be my only outing this week besides my sessions with the dog! Actually, the pox hasn't been as bad as I imagined. Like most said just the first two nights were bad - the rest is just solitary confinement.

ZuleikaJambiere · 14/06/2013 17:42

I'm impressed with the inch loss Deids, I really need to find a way to get some exercise into my life

Kayz I don't know how I'd murder someone, but I do that I'd dispose of the body by feeding it to pigs. Does that help?!

DD2 is 16 months now, too old, I want a titchy one like Arti has

ShadyLadyT · 14/06/2013 22:01

Crikey ZJ, would they scoff the lot?

Girls, yet again I have failed to do a catch up. I have such a rotten throat and today has been mad as we are off to Spain in the early hours - couple of days at friends' luxury villa (yes, I know, Envy) then couple of days in Barcelona. We have another mortgage application in and the suspense is killing me. Any way...I just feel really run down.

My dear DB - that is a serious result!

Love to all of you. I hate not being all caught up - so sorry. xxxx

Mckayz · 15/06/2013 06:32

ZJ, that's quite amusing as they love pigs and used to keep them. I am making Mum a pig cake. Well decorating a cake anyway. The local bakers are making it. I've got to do Rosalie's cake yet.
