spotty, mama - kicky here too! have to hold hand and clamp leg with my leg as we lie in dark room..... never thought bf would be like this!! long gone are the days of sitting with the tv......

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 06:28

Quiet here last night, lots of sleeping babies?. I managed about five hours sleep all in I think. I get a bit Confused trying to remember what times we were up!

I've tried putting a muslin over ds's head when feeding but it doesn't make a difference Wink

IsThatTrue · 16/04/2013 07:00

Ha sleep?! Not on your nelly! God only knows when we were up last night but DS ended up in with us until 4 as I couldn't cope sitting up to feed after midnight. Maybe I spoke too soon about being past the sleep regression Hmm

I tend to spend the beginning of each night ranting to dp 'I don't know why I even bother coming to bed' Grin

Barbeasty · 16/04/2013 07:48

Yes, Spotty. DH gave me a new clock radio for my birthday, so I can see the time when I am woken up (very short sighted). Which is great, but I can't remember them in the morning! When DH asks how the night was, I can't really answer except by how tired I am and maybe 1 or 2 wakings which I remember.

Isthat yes, but they have to take a bottle for that to work. I gave my 8 weeks notice to go back yesterday Sad and A still hasn't taken a bottle. Could be interesting at nursery....

IsThatTrue · 16/04/2013 07:53

Oh no barbeasty which bottles do you have? DS hates Avent ones but is fine with tommie tippee ones.

Possibly record breaking bad night for us. i saw every hour on the clock & she wouldn't really settle from 2 but was awake & cheerful at 6:30. I look like the living dead she is in a fab mood!

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 07:56

Sorry for not being around - I was mostly asleep. My husband was due to give her dream feed at 9.45pm (we have to be sure she's asleep as otherwise she's liable to refuse the bottle) but it was closer to 10, she woke, didn't finish her bottle but did have a massive feed from me and needed cuddling to sleep - didn't get her down again until 11pm. But then she slept until 4.30am, and with lots of snuffling, until 7.30am. She had a couple of dummy insertions in that last phase as I didn't want to et up at 6am! A good night, except it took me an age to get to sleep after the feed, with both baby and husband snoring next to me!

:( for bad nights, spotty Isthat and barbeasty.

Helsbelscm · 16/04/2013 07:57

We also have bottle issues. Have ordered a posh new breastflow one meant to be the most like breastfeeding. Will update if any better.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 07:57

I usually read this thread back to see which posts I remember but no one posted last night! Think our night went like this....

7pm down
9pm-9:20pm feed
10:40 feed
00:00 down
1:50 feed
3:05 down
6:10 wake

Somewhen between 3 and 6 dd came in saying she needed a wee Hmm

How are your rats IsThat? I dreamt we had rats the other night must have been on my mind!

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 08:09

Is it ridiculous that ds's already having his morning nap? Confused

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 08:51

Spotty, C is usually down for her nap by now - she's being a dodger this morning and won't quite get sleepy enough for me to put her in her crib. But I will prevail!

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 08:56

I think if you miss their sleep window, mama, it can be a nightmare to get them down Sad

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 09:07

Oh, don't I know it spotty! She doesn't have consistent nap time as she doesn't have a consistent wake time. I look for tired cues and jump on them. She's still awake now so it's time to abandon and wait for the cues to come Round again. Frustrating - yesterday you couldnt stop her napping!

ISpyPlumPie · 16/04/2013 09:17

N is not a happy camper. Had a terrible evening of him constantly crying then screaming every time he was offered boob. He got some respite with calpol and nurofen, but in between times he was inconsolable. Thankfully his temp seems normal this morning, but he's still really upset. Am taking him to the docs as it is so out of character - it might just be teeth, but I want to check it's nothing more. Between N and DS1 I don't think I've ever been to the doctors as much as I have in the last few weeks - I'll get a reserved seat in the waiting room at this rate!

IsThatTrue · 16/04/2013 09:45

spotty I haven't heard anything but I'm not looking, the rat man can do it! Lol [scaredy cat emoticon]

In others news ds just self settled!!!!!!!!!! first time ever!

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 09:55

ISpy, I hope everything is ok.

Isthat :) :) :)

Bloody frustrating babies. Has taken me 90mins to get c to sleep and I can't put her in crib as she wakes straight up again. Stick to the bed with sleeping baby - I thought these days were behind me! Yesterday she was a napping champion, that must be why I'm so bloody frustrated today.

Barbeasty · 16/04/2013 09:59

We have tomie tipee ones. In fairness we only tried him on a bottle for the first time on Saturday

Barbeasty · 16/04/2013 10:04

Sorry, yes A wriggles when feeding too...

A's not been left for more than 2hrs so I'm not surprised he hasn't taken a bottle.

SeymoreButts · 16/04/2013 10:21

Hi all, my first post on this thread. Can't believe how much I've missed!

barbeasty DD never took bottles and I went back to work when she was 4 months old. She would drink from a tommee tippee free flow cup though (I think they're called explorer now).

I decided at the end of last week to really persist with the dummy. DS was becoming a nightmare to settle for naps and was getting really frustrated sucking his fingers. He finally took to it over the weekend and it's been a revelation! No more pram screaming and no more over-tired grumpiness! And now he's got the hang of sucking a dummy he has stopped refusing (chewing) the bottle. Last night he had 150mls of ebm!! still woke up 2 hours later though

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 10:30

Seymore, that must make your life feel a bit different. Do you feel more confident getting out of the house now?

WeeJo08 · 16/04/2013 10:54

Morning all!

Hope N is okay, ISpy - it's so awful when they're not well/unsettled, you feel so helpless Hmm

Seymore That's great about the bottle Grin Gives a bit more freedom, I think. C took a bottle very easily as she had one a few days after she was born and we then continued with a combination of BF, EBF and some formula. Although the Hooter Hider is really great for feeding in public if you're self-conscious (like me!) And I also love the name Grin

I'm sure you have all talked about this before, but I'm only just catching up after my hiatus! Are any of you considering weaning or waiting until the 6 months? Our HV has given very conflicting advice! And that's not counting all the "helpful" comments from people..."My DS was on solids before he was out of the hospital..." I don't think DD is ready yet, so I'm going to wait a bit...it's only 6 weeks until she's 6 months, but I can't imagine her wanting them soon! Also...what weight/centiles are your LOs in? DD was 13lbs on her last weigh-in and in the 25th for weight and height.

MaMaPo · 16/04/2013 11:19

weejo there's lots of conflicting advice from the research too - in Aus they recommend starting 'between 4-6 months' and not to delay beyond 6. I think I will start in about 2 weeks' time just to see how she goes with sitting, taking the spoon etc, and if the time's not right I'll leave it. C is a big girl, 91st percentile for both length and weight. Only in the last few weeks with growth spurt have I started to feel the effect of that (she's ebf).

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 11:25

I'm waiting until six months at least Grin go with what you feel is right WeeJo. The nhs banana test is a good one: peel a banana and hold it out infront of them if they can grab it, bring it to their mouth and take a bite whilst sitting then they're ready.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/04/2013 11:28

Oh ds is on the small side Smile
