Get her out hales. Feeding is still a nice snuggly bonding time when using a bottle Smile

Ds and I have just had a nice nap so that's good. Will have to go and get dd in a bit.

Yay for giggles honey Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 15/04/2013 14:07

Actually ds is still asleep! Two hours!

Also Hales I meant to say on the rare occasion dp has given ds a bottle he's a right pain to get back to sleep because dp just dumps him back into his cot wide awake whereas with me he's usually fed to sleep or at least very sleepy.... Well done for keeping going so long I know you had a tough time b

SpottyTeacakes · 15/04/2013 14:07

Random 'b' at the end there Confused

IsThatTrue · 15/04/2013 14:10

My kids went back to school today, not tomorrow as I thought Blush I got the 'your children are absent' text at 12. They were at school by 12.30! I can't believe I got the date wrong! It's on my calendar and in my phone as tomorrow!

We have had less screeching today, still more than I'd like but not as much as yest! He's still got this cold though end still refusing the dummy, I think it's because he's finding it hard to breathe through his nose. Really annoying when trying to settle him though!

Grin IsThat. My friend too her dd to nursery when it was closed. I think it's a common mistake! Did they mind?

SpottyTeacakes · 15/04/2013 14:18

Oh also does your ds have a cup did you say? Which one is it? I'm thinking of giving ds one to play with Smile

SkiBunnnnny · 15/04/2013 14:23

Yay for giggles honey! LO thinks its hilarious when I try to eat his fingers...!

Good for you for getting a night out hales, hope you had fun.

We are going for a photoshoot today! A friend has a photography business and offered to do some family photos today and I wanted to get some pretty ones in the snow before it all melts.

ISpyPlumPie · 15/04/2013 14:25

Yay for giggles, self-settling and lie ins. Boo to block ducts, colds and sleep regression.

Belated birthday wishes Hales. Sounds like you had a good night!

I have a rather angry young man today. He was really upset this morning and also had a slight temp so gave him calpol -it's the first time he's needed it. I think it's his teeth due to the way he's biting everything in his path (luckily not nipples yet, but my fingers have some disturbing teeth marks on them!)

At least DS1's little problem is sorted and he's using the toilet normally again. Really releaved as it was horrible for him, but also on a totally selfish note think it would have pushed me to the limits of my capacity to cope today given the lack of sleep last night and the dim prospects of DH being home before the boys' bedtime.

IsThatTrue · 15/04/2013 14:25

They didn't seem too bothered, obviously they realised it was a genuine mistake what with me offloading them as soon as humanly possible when I found out Grin

I can't remember who it was who had a cup, it wasn't DS, I'm not that organised.

SkiBunnnnny · 15/04/2013 14:26

Haha, oh dear isthat! Did your kids know they were supposed to be back and giggling to themselves that you hadn't realised?

ISpyPlumPie · 15/04/2013 14:27

Sorry for all the typos. Sleep deprivation still making itself known in the afternoon - not great!

Secondsop · 15/04/2013 14:56

Oh dear isthat! Good effort getting them there in half a hour though.

Gave Z some calpol as he's had a cough and sniffle plus his gums are clearly bothering him. He's had it before and not been keen but today when i gave it to him his face opened up and he smiled and then laughed! I think he is properly tasting it for the first time and likes it.

IsThatTrue · 15/04/2013 15:43

ski nope they had no idea, I'm still very Blush about it tbh!

Does anyone else's Babies poo vary in consistency throughout the day? We seem to have 3/4 different varieties of poo Hmm

Some twat just smashed my fucking wing mirror off and drove off I'm so angry. What a fucking wanker. It's a narrow road with a lay by on his side but he just kept on coming he saw I was trying to turn around and just drove off. Ffs every single car I have had now (4) has been driven into by some wanker who has driven off what the hell is wrong with some people

WeeJo08 · 15/04/2013 15:44

ISpy & seconds and everyone else - do you have a technique for getting DC to take Calpol? I gave it to C successfully once when her gums were bothering her about a month ago but then 2nd time (also sore gums & temp) on holiday resulted in such a scary coughing fit & then last night I tried it to lower her temp & ease sore tummy but she just wouldn't swallow it (God, please don't think I try to drug her all the time!) Hmm

As I said earlier, she seems much much better today so I don't need it but was wondering if there is a way to give the Calpol without distressing her too much. I used the syringe you get with it.

My What to Expect book suggested lightly blowing on their face as this triggers a swallow reflex?? Has anyone done this? Sorry for epistle!!

WeeJo08 · 15/04/2013 15:44

Oh no Spotty! That's so rotten for you Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 15/04/2013 15:46

I'm so so angry I just say their with my horn on and they kept driving. I had both children in the car too, who does that??!

ISpyPlumPie · 15/04/2013 15:58

Spotty - that's awful. There really are some selfish nobs around aren't there? Hope you and the DC aren't too shaken.

Weejo - I gave N the calpol off a medicine spoon. I sat him in his bouncer and just went slowly. He was fine with it. I've used a syringe when he's had antibiotics before without much success (kept dribbling back out) so thought a spoon was worth a try.

IsThatTrue · 15/04/2013 15:59

spotty Angry for you!

ispy I use a syringe and put about 0.2 ml into the back/aide of his mouth at a time, anymore than that and he slits it straight out!

OP posts:
Secondsop · 15/04/2013 15:59

Oh spotty . What a bastard. There seem to have been so many car-related incidents for this group!

weejo I lie Z down, administer the calpol with its syringe and then immediately insert a dummy.

IsThatTrue · 15/04/2013 16:00

Sorry weejo not isly Blush

OP posts:
WeeJo08 · 15/04/2013 16:21

Seconds I absolutely LOVE your technique! It is so Grey's Anatomy. I have visions of you & DH in full scrubs, and you giving orders "Calpol", "Syringe", "Dummy", "Teddy".

SkiBunnnnny · 15/04/2013 16:24

Sorry isthat. Really don't worry about it it could happen o anyone.

What a wanker spotty!Shock

Weejo, have never given calpol but DS gets vitamin D drops everyday. I just drop it in his mouth with a dropper v slowly and wait until he swallows each bit until I give more. although now he laps it up because its really sweet

FriendofDorothy · 15/04/2013 17:00

We give Calpol slowly but using a syringe and aiming to the side of his mouth IYSWIM.

I took Edward for his jabs but they wouldn't do them because of his cold.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/04/2013 18:13

Well that's shit Spotty did you get a licence plate or anything?

DP is back Smile! But has food poisoning Sad so has gone straight to bed and is throwing up in a Tupperware box. So looks like I'm on duty again! One day I shall get a wee in peace!
