Thought we should get a new thread before the night shift Wink

The weather here has turned wet and cold again. It's a shame as I feel so much better with a bit of sun. DS doesn't really seem ill today, so I guess last night much just have been more snotty and coughing than normal - perhaps worse reflux? Doesn't make sense as I managed to give him gaviscon before bed.

Those whose LO take gaviscon. Can you give it before a feed? The instructions say after feeding, but that's not practical at night when I feed him to sleep. Ended up waking up a sound asleep DS last night, then fought to get him back to sleep.

Weejo - we're still in a crib but its not really big enough for him. Think he's going to end up in the cot in his own room before 6m though I don't really want to :(

halestone · 01/05/2013 12:36

We brought a cot bed before she was born and moved her from moses basket to the cot bed. I'm glad really because she's a very long baby. Our cot bed is from babies r us and came in a package deal you got the cot, mattress, bedding and a change mat. Its also quite good as it drops down to three different levels depending on where you want.

Spotty sorry to hear about your sil's friends baby. I have been giving DD extra hugs today makes me realise how lucky i am to have a happy healthy baby.

ISpyPlumPie · 01/05/2013 13:10

Spotty - so sorry to hear that Sad. As others have said, it does really make you appreciate what you've got and that nothing can be taken for granted.

Hope you're feeling better Weejo.

No advice about the gaviscon Stacks, sorry but will keep fx that it does make things more comfortable for T.

Totally relate to the messy house stress. As I've said before, I have lowered my standards (not that they were that high before to be fair) so that I don't stress about anything other than the basics, but even keeping on top of that is tough. A combo of velcro baby and whirlwind three year old is just not conducive to a calm and ordered living environment. As Barbeasty said, it's even harder now with a rolling LO as need to really try and keep on top of all the little bits (where does the dry playdough come from - I'm sure we don't play with it that often?!). DS1 is at nursery today so hopefully will have chance to make it a bit more presentable, which will last for all of 10 mins once he is home. Seriously tempted to get a cleaner.

Had first baby massage class today (have been on the waiting list for ages). It was lovely, and really hoping I'll be able to use it to help N get to sleep especially during the day.

WLmum · 01/05/2013 13:25

stacks I always give the gaviscon before a feed - after there's no way she'll take it and she will have been sick before I can get it in her. Before works much better. The dr prescribed domperidone and ranatidine for her this morning - she said she wouldn't normally in a baby who's thriving but then said we could try it. I don't know whether to give it to her or not, she's not crying in pain but generally is sick throughout the day as well as after feeds and can be mega sick after night feeds. Of course just to be difficult she hasn't been sick so far today. I don't want her to be unnecessarily uncomfortable but I also don't want to medicate her unnecessarily.
I was naughty and shoe-horned T into dd2s apt - got a referral to hospital paeds for her ezcema poor little thing.

WLmum · 01/05/2013 13:28

There's the sick - all in my lap feels like I've wet myself!

Stacks · 01/05/2013 13:54

I hate cat naps. T was fast asleep until I put him in his crib. Now he's wide awake smiling and wanting to play - that was all of 10 minutes :( He was so tired and grumpy before I know it's not enough sleep. Sigh.

WL thanks for the gaviscon tip. I'll start giving it to him before feeds. I know what you mean about unnecessary medication. I'm the same with T - he's putting on weight and seems happy enough, he's just not sleeping. Interestingly though he dropped from the 75th to the 50th percentile when all his symptoms started. Everyone kept saying it was a growth spurt as he was feeding so much. However every weigh in it wasn't showing up.

I feel petty being annoyed at T just now. He's messing around instead of feeding, but then keeps looking for breast and rubbing his eyes. It's his bloody fault he's not fed and asleep just now! :( I know it doesn't work like that really, but I'm just so god damn TIRED.

halestone · 01/05/2013 14:32

Stacks you sound just like i did last week, like your just about to hit the brick wall. I know you've got your dad coming soon as well so he can recuperate after his surgery. But is there anyway you can force DP to understand exactly how your feeling. It took me threatening to end our relationship with DP for him to finally understand just how tired i was. Could DP look after T on his next day off for the full day? Just so you can sleep i know your bf but if DP agrees could you express when T isn't feeding so he can give T bottles when your asleep. If DP agrees don't ear mark that time for housework just sleep as much as you can. Even tell DP to go out for the day so you don't hear T. I'm sorry your so tired i know how hard it was and i was in such a bad place last week but since i got a little bit of help i've calmed down and H has started sleeping better. ThanksWine

WLmum · 01/05/2013 15:05

stacks its ok to feel annoyed - you know that it's not his fault but it doesn't stop it being annoying! Fx that he'll settle down once you get going with the gaviscon. Interestingly my dr seemed to be hinting at early weaning. I want to wait if possible but we'll see how the reflux goes.

MaMaPo · 01/05/2013 15:27

So much to catch up on!

Weejo, ouch! Pain-related fainting would be quite a thing. I passed out about 3 times when pushing in labour, I kept coming to and being very confused about where I was and what was happening. I had been hallucinating/dreaming being on a boat with someone I haven't seen in 10 years! Eventually the pushing didn't work anyway and I headed towards theatre.

C just went into her cot last week and it has been great. She sleeps so much better. It's a cot that transitions into a toddler and junior bed - this one here . It's not cheap but it was a gift from C's great-grandmother.

Spotty, I'm curious, which photos on FB make little C look like she's teething? I obviously can't spot it! I have also been cuddling C close in thanks that she's a healthy little girl.

Seymore hello again! Sorry to hear sleep isn't improving as rapidly as we'd all like. I hope the dietary issues sort themselves out soon. Taking C to the GP this afternoon to look at a suspicious rash - I have everything crossed that it's not eczema. A friend's baby has it and she is modifying her diet like crazy.

Stacks, Im terrible at getting annoyed and angry with C in the middle of the night. I always make sure to apologise to her and my husband, but it's just so so frustrating.

Baby is napping so well this afternoon - 2 hours now. Went straight down without a hiccup too. What a great baby. (Now she needs to do the same at night...)

SpottyTeacakes · 01/05/2013 16:32

Sorry mama wrong baby BlushBlushBlush but she does look rosy in the one of her in the cot

WeeJo08 · 01/05/2013 18:44

To cheer up anyone having a tough day...though, word to the wise don't read this thread while you've got a sleeping baby on you unless you want to wake them up with one of your snorts! Wink (I didn't do this...no, not me Grin)

WeeJo08 · 01/05/2013 18:45

Hope that link worked...I'm on my phone so it's probably not a hyperlink, sorry! You can probably copy & paste it though Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 01/05/2013 19:23

Argh he won't go to sleep!! He's wide awake despite hardly sleeping today. Dd is crying because she doesn't want to go to bed Hmm

IsThatTrue · 01/05/2013 19:30

weejo I've been reading that thread too! :)

Well last night was our worst tbh. He took 2 hrs to settle both times he woke up so I got precisely 2.5 hrs sleep Hmm he also did a poo around midnight which he hasn't done for around 3 months. Today he has been just as much of a pain. He's slept 3 times, each for no more than 20 mins. Once this morning, once just after lunch in the car and once on me around half 4. But woke as soon as I moved him into his cot and refused to go back down :( I'm in the process of feeding him to sleep now and I'm just praying that he gets a decent stretch because I'm he's knackered!

I think it may be teeth as just his right cheek is really rosey and his fingers are being chewed on that side only today. So if he wakes up within 2 hrs I'm going to give him calpol, as it must be pain waking him.

'I need a poo daddy I need a poo!!!'

Ten minutes later still no poo... Back to bed.....

'I need a poo daddy I need a poo!'
On the loo...
'Its just coming out of my bottom now'

Ten minutes later.....Still no poo.....

Just a taster of toddlerhood for you all Wink

IsThatTrue · 01/05/2013 20:02

spotty I hate it when they use the toilet as an excuse to get out of bed, because you can't exactly not let them can you? But you know they are taking the piss having you on, deep down.

45 mins to feed to sleep Hmm

OP posts:
WLmum · 01/05/2013 20:03

Ah yes, the old poo routine - classic!

SpottyTeacakes · 01/05/2013 20:07

Yep the last thing you want is to cause any toilet issues!

Ds took almost an hour to go down Hmm Our room's really hot though so he's in a vest and no sleeping bag until we go up

SkiBunnnnny · 01/05/2013 20:08

I have a very sleepy baby today. Pity it couldn't have been last night. He won't let me put him down at all but as soon as I sit back down with him he's right back to sleep. Worried I'm not getting to pump enough, going to see if I can do it without waking him.

Weejo, my fainting is related to nausea. Ever since I was around 10 every time I throw up for any reason I pass out or almost do. Often leads to me coming around with my head in a pool of sick which isn't pleasant at all.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/05/2013 20:16

Dd just woke ds up. I'm so angry right now Angry

SkiBunnnnny · 01/05/2013 20:18

No luck :( is a hand pump but so squeaky!

PurplePidjin · 01/05/2013 20:31

Had an interview this evening for a couple more nights at youth club, had to walk away from hysterical teething baby and exhausted headachy dp Sad bloody hope i get it and it was worth it!

WLmum · 01/05/2013 22:06

Oooh ski that does sound delightful! Not surprising lo is being clingy - it shows he loves you and missed you! Can you hand express? I found it quite effective for little and often once I got the ha ng of it.

Fx pidj

I've just been wrapping dd1s bday pressies - 6 on Friday!

WLmum · 01/05/2013 22:15

And in other exciting news, I wore my wedding/engagement/eternity rings today! I got so fat in pg I had to take them off at about 4 months! Am still quite fat but so lovely to have them back on, I missed them! For all you first timers, you know a baby means he owes you diamonds right?! (Sadly by 2&3 we got so skint if be lucky to get a ring out of a cracker!)

WLmum · 01/05/2013 22:20

Goodness spotty how warm is it? Ours is 22 degrees and T is in a vest and one tog bag - it will drop a couple of degrees over night.
