Catching up slowly. stunt that is lovely Smile I was aiming for that too but got seduced by a very bad man Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 22/03/2013 10:53

Kyz learning to eat is a massive thing for them. Two small spoons isn't enough to fill him up of course but it is enough to possibly put him off the rest of his milk because of the taste. LO won't drink milk just after puree. I assume it's the difference in taste and texture which confuses her.

I make sure LO has her milk first, and any puree she wants after that is a bonus and if she doesn't want any then the dog gets it. There's no actual need for the extra food yet as they only need milk. And at the moment she isn't even finishing an ice cube amount´of puree. She tastes, spits it out, tastes again, swallows some, opens her mouth for more, forgets what to do with it and spits it out and that's us done. And I do that once or twice a day. On days when she has been feeling rubbish I haven't bothered at all.

ValiumQueen · 22/03/2013 10:54

cat perhaps it was divine intervention. Perhaps had you got to Ikea you might have slipped on a horse ball or something Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 22/03/2013 10:55

I'm not goingto talk about my pre DH sex life on here. It's far too long and complicated. I am happy to be in a stable and monogamous relationship now. I can't actually remember how old I was the first time, but I can remember who it was, and that it was shite. These things get better with age.

Kyzordz · 22/03/2013 11:02

So what he's doing is totally normal? That's good to hear! The second day of banana he had the whole ice cube, but didn't want any the day after and of course I didn't force the issue. It just made me feel a bit like I might be forcing it on him because he doesn't really look at me/it, and I didn't know if he should be being more enthusiastic so to speak?

I wanted to give him these tastes for a few weeks (though I don't know how long) so he could get used to tastes and textures and swallowing thicker things. I have made purées of things I have seen people suggest on here and was just going to offer each one once a day for 3 days. Bit clueless really!

ChunkyEasterChick · 22/03/2013 11:15

Have just pumped 3.5oz whilst feeding then looked at the tube, & there's slight mould growth in it. Dammit!!! Will have to throw away the ebm.Angry

I have plenty frozen though & it was just to check I could still get 'enough' bm from pumping because I haven't done it ages. It was just to mix with some frozen tomorrow night so it doesn't taste too odd etc. So its not the end of the world. But grrrrrr!!!

fruitpastilles · 22/03/2013 11:17

kyz I am totally clueless when it comes to weaning as well. I've been taking notes on all of the advice everyone has given on here. I bought the annabel Karmel weaning book, I think it was pr that recommended it and have found it to be very useful. I think S is ready for weaning but she is only 18 weeks so I'm going to wait a few more weeks.
I got a letter through inviting me to a weaning class, had anyone else been to one of these classes? Are they worth it?

ChunkyEasterChick · 22/03/2013 11:21

jakecat my DS is a day younger than your LO. Did you say boy or girl, & imply anything about your eldest? Baby brain - I only just read your post!!! :) Blush

Kyzordz · 22/03/2013 11:23

I got the book too fruit it seems quite good :)

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 22/03/2013 11:29

Hi jakecat great to have you on board.

stunt that is lovely.

Sad for those whose first experiences are unmentionable for whatever reason. Remember a thread in chat about it actually which was really bloody sad. So dont feel you have to share if you dont want to.

I hear those of you not happy with the way you look. Me neither. Am a massive fatty. Was a very, very sporty teenager who ate shedloads. Got away with it due to the amount of exercise I did (swam 7+times a week, hockey twice a week, tennis once, school sports etc). Stopped the exercise, did not adjust eating. Went to uni. Drank a lot. Got sedentary job. Office is obsessed with cake. Met DH. We love food. 2 pregnancies. Am a size 22. Blush Do weigh less than I did before getting preg with DS though.

Decided I needed a project to inspire weightloss. I struggle with the eating part but doing exercise helps a lot. Need a reason to do it and fit it into hectice life. So got caught up by a friend's enthusiasm and signed up to climb Ben Nevis in exactly 6 months time. This time in 6 months I should be flying back down to the westcountry having done my climb. Am going to spend the next couple of months working on general fitness and walking as much as possible. Over the summer going to do some long walks.

Today I went swimming. DS went in the creche. Amazing how much easier it is to leave DC2 than it was leaving DD when she was little. Poor DS. Did 40 lengths in 40 minutes. Not awful, nothing compared to what I could once do. I do, however, enjoy the looks on the people in the fast lane's faces when I waddle onto poolside and select the fast lane. And then woop them all Grin

kirrinIsland · 22/03/2013 11:36

Welcome jakecat :)

Just got back from the docs with DD1 - her temp hit 40 over night and it's been a couple of days so NHS Direct recommended taking her in. She's fine, just give it time. I think I'm definitely on the Surgery's paranoid mother list but that's fine by me!

YokoUhOh · 22/03/2013 11:36

Madam that's some stamina! Wowzers...I'm so impressed :)

kirrinIsland · 22/03/2013 11:40

That's good going Madame Ilove swimming but the crèche times at our gym don't work too well really. Might do a spinning class soon if I can manage it. Weight/size wise I'm not too bad, though the extra flabby bits are depressing, but I am so unfit it's not funny and until I can reclaim my evenings there isn't really much I can do about it.

MissJJ is it this?

Welcome Jake! Have you checked out lactose overload or oversupply as potential causes of green poo?

J had about ten teaspoons of baby rice yesterday and the day before in an attempt to sort out his constant puking and diarrhoea. I was going to give it a break as he's only 18 weeks but if he's eating that much then maybe he is ready for solids. I have some sweet potato to try if we do go ahead.

What stroke did you use Madam? 40 lengths in 40 minutes ain't bad for breast stroke, I used to do a mile (64) in an hour with slow 10 laps at the start and end for warmup and cool down.

ValiumQueen · 22/03/2013 12:03

madame very impressive.

pass thank you for the kind offer. Hopefully I will not need to take you up on it. I will try the LF stuff for a few days, then if no improvement will try to get a px from GP. The HV said only the dietician could prescribe it, so I said it can be bought over the counter. She disagreed. According to her LF and the mega special stuff can only be got on px. Bless her.

I had a complete meltdown this morning - so tired I could not think straight, and was struggling to get the raincover on the buggy as it started snowing and is so fucking cold. DH says I should stop trying to do everything myself. Clearly I need to spell things out. I did not sleep well last night due to 3hrly feeding and worrying about if I was being paranoid about DS. This morning I am reassured I am not bad as he is reacting quite quickly to the formula, and only taking 3oz when he is clearly hungry. The new formula will be here lunchtime. Seems it is like rocking horse shit in this neck of the woods.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 22/03/2013 12:10

My living room is decorated and I am still child free. I am going to go to sleep and collect said kiddies in a few hours. I will not admit what time the decorator left to anyone and enjoy the quality nap I shall hopefully get! See you in a few hours!

PetiteRaleuse · 22/03/2013 12:11

Free samples of what?

kyz I don't know if it is normal but he's certainly not unique :o

I started weaning DD1 at 17 weeks and she picked it up so fast, by day three I was having to defrost several ice cubes at once. LO is a little slower to cotton on but that's fine too. She is 22 weeks today but I am not going to push weaning until her ear is 100% and she is back to drinking the normal amount of milk.

Both girls asleep.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/03/2013 12:14

Enjoy Izzy

VQ yes, I think it is necessary to spell things out. I feel like I am always barking instructions at DH but if I don't stuff doesn't get done. It's not a reflection on his intelligence, or capabilities or anything like that, it's just diffent priorities right now.

MaMaPo · 22/03/2013 12:15

OK, I'll bite. I lurk on your fred regularly. My little girl Charlotte was born 5.12.12 so I post on the December fred (hi pidj) but I read this one because you're funny, it's interesting to contemplate what lies a few weeks ahead of us, and let's face it, I have lots of spare time on my hands.

There you have it. Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 22/03/2013 12:16

Currently having a new boiler fitted so no heating. DH is stuck at work as he can't get over the Pennines in this blummin snow.

Trying to cheer myself up by planning what we need for our holiday. Only 6 weeks to go

PetiteRaleuse · 22/03/2013 12:26

Excellent choice of name for your daughter MaMaPo Wink

Where's there's one there must be more of you lurking out there. That's three today already? How many more people know all the intimate details of our lives without us knowing you exist? :o
