Any remaining lurkers, would you like to de-lurk and announce yourselves? We won't bite!

A day of culinary delights here to make up for too many sandwiches during the powercut. I made roast five spice tenderloin of pork with steamed rice and braised Thai vegetables, followed by carrot cupcakes (I had two). Nom!

Currently on the dream feed and hoping for less frequent waking tonight.

izzy blind and "show curtains"? We have floor length curtains with a sofa in front of the window and its a pain in the arse drawing them. I realise that in the grand scheme of things it's no biggy, but coupled with sleep deprivation it has enraged me once or twice. Dsd has a blind in her room, and voile curtains useless but produce pretty purple glow when drawn

stunt nom nom indeed.

I can't look at property porn else I get itchy feet. Despite moving 8 times in 8 years. And I hate moving.

Off to bed now - need to get up early to go on carhunt mission - scared.com!

Good luck xx

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 24/03/2013 23:16

bplp curtains will never be functional. Purely there for show :)

Transfer has been successful. Hoping for a good few hours til feed but I know this is unlikely as he hardly fed. DH offered to do next feed if before 2am but he did that last night and J wouldn't settle and was up for an hour crying on and off. If I could sleep though that it would help but I was awake too so pointless I feel.

Hope everyone gets a good night

TheDetective · 24/03/2013 23:20

I've just spent the last few hours printing pictures and doing O's baby book. Also did a pass and sprinkled it with made up facts as I went along. I still want to know when he first laughed though. I even went through my posts on here. Hmm.

DP has dismantled the desk I now have free space in my living/dining room! WHOOP!

Contradictionincarnate · 24/03/2013 23:21

I can beat that bplp 6 times in 2 years! ...all rentals though. before that lived with my parents in same house from age 2 - 20.

LuisGarcia · 24/03/2013 23:22

Fess up, which one of you keeps poking L with a stick when I put her down?

Contradictionincarnate · 24/03/2013 23:25

think dd isn't feeling the stick poking tonight been down since 10.30 so why am I still up!
oh and I bet everyone else has done this too but dh met chesney hawkes today!

Jims · 24/03/2013 23:45

How do you meet chesney hawkes?!? One of my friends lurves the one and only...

Bryzoan · 25/03/2013 00:27

Contra - did he recognise him? Or did Chesney introduce himself?

I met Duncan Goodhew once. we were both walking our dogs and calling them. There was some confusion as both were called Toby. This was many years ago though so he probably doesn't still have a dog called Toby.

I also met one of the flying pickets (of 'caravan of love fame' in a bar in Cardiff. I didn't recognise him though - so there is a small chance he was just a man pretending to be a flying picket.

PurplePidjin · 25/03/2013 00:31

Evening all :) first wake of the night same as when he was in with us!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 25/03/2013 00:45

First wake up here. As predicted he lasted a total of 90mins after being put to bed at 11pm. Took a good ten mins but think would have fed longer except he started slipping off and hurting me and wouldn't go back on.

He is back in cot with Ewan but doesn't sounds properly asleep.

Luis its not us poking L with a stick. Hope whoever it is stops soon!

ValiumQueen · 25/03/2013 01:52

izzy I think it would be helpful if you kept a log over the next few days of feeds, sleep and mood.

What happens if you do not go in to him? Do you allow him a bit of time to self settle? Hard with DD I know. Babies sleep in 45 min cycles so he is waking when he drifts into light sleep. In time he will learn to just cuddle up and sleep on.

I am using nap times for J to practice his self settling skills as otherwise I would have three to settle at night.

I think pick up put down would be more valuable than holding his hand, and would keep you warmer too. That is something that you have to be happy doing though. Could DH do it as you smell of milk?

I do think log first, increase boobage in day, and hopefully the nights will improve for you.

Of course this is said by the mother of the threads worst sleeper!

PetiteRaleuse · 25/03/2013 01:58

DH took it upon himself to drop the dream feed and final nappy change Angry

I think she'd have slept through tonight otherwise probably not going on the last week but anyway

Ironic that when I go to bed early and am particularly tired I am up for ages during the night.

At least DD1 hasn't puked on us yet

StuntNun · 25/03/2013 02:08

3.5 hours since the last feed. I can't decide whether this is good or bad. It's certainly already better than last night. J woke up screaming in pain again, and farting loudly. I can'd decide whether it's just trapped wind or something more serious. The only thing that seems to help is feeding, otherwise it takes a few minutes for the pain to subside. He was burped at the last feed though so I don't know where all the wind is coming from.

Free space to fill with more baby stuff Detective?

Izzy are you using any sort of routine for bedtime? My J has been learning to self-settle using a routine and with sleep associations such as the sleeping bag and his cuddly rabbit. He's not there yet but it's helping him.

Am I the only one awake?

Lily311 · 25/03/2013 03:12

No. I am here too.

kirrinIsland · 25/03/2013 03:12

No Luis I'm awake too.

N has a slight temp and is very bunged up - basically she has what DD1 has just had :( She's had calpol, saline drops, tilted the cot, and she's feeding fine so just going to keep a close eye and hope we can get some sleep.

LuisGarcia · 25/03/2013 03:20

Hi 3am ers. It helps that you're here too

kirrinIsland · 25/03/2013 03:24

It is nice to know I'm not the only one up - without wishing crap nights on anyone!

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 03:27

Here too. O squirming and stirring at 3 but still half asleep so attempting a dream feed.

MaMaPo · 25/03/2013 03:36

I'm here too, first time popping back since delurking. We made it all the way through last night, first time ever, so I'm trying not to be crushingly disappointed that she's up now.

PurplePidjin · 25/03/2013 04:18

Second feed. First one was 1 1/2 hours so I'm praying he goes back down!

kirrinIsland · 25/03/2013 04:30

Ahhh - N will not go back in her cot. We've been up since about 2 and I can't see her going down any time soon - she'll sleep on me though. I'm going to have to stand and hold her soon - I'm dozing off here.

StuntNun · 25/03/2013 04:51

Can I join the 4 o'clock club please? We just had a battle of wills here. J woke up in pain and thrashing around farting again. I tried to resettle him with the dummy, bunny and shush-pat but he wasn't having any of it. So I had to pick him up and then the crying really started. As soon as I pick him up he's expecting to be fed back to sleep. Cue DH saying, why don't you feed him, he's starving? But it's only two hours since he was fed. I really think he should be able to go longer than two hours at night. As soon as DH took him J went back to sleep in his arms. But of course he started crying again as soon as he was put back in his cot. So I ended up feeding him to sleep again. This sleep - pain - feed to sleep cycle is no fun for anyone. Is it really unreasonable to expect a 18-week-old 16 lb baby to be able to go longer than two hours at night?

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 25/03/2013 04:56

I'm back again. I shall download some sort of app for feeds etc I think to keep a track. I do leave him til I know he is definitely awake and needing something from me, be that food or a hand hold! I'm not sure of pupd vq I was trying to avoid lifting him if possible as I figured that would make things worse and again I'd smell of milk so by doing the hand hold he didn't feed but does go back to sleep. I'm not sure what's best! stunt we have no bed routine as such as he will not go in cot til after his 10.30ish feed, by which point he is asleep anyway so not sure how I'd instigate that?
