Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
americanexpat · 27/04/2013 16:50

reastie - don't be Blush, blizy is a CM and I'm unfortunately very familiar with incident reports from L's biting phase before we moved. I was getting at least one per day right before we moved - I think he was feeling our stress.

blizy - Enjoy your hen night. I've heard of a few women getting pregnant just before seeing a fertility specialist. Fingers crossed for you.

Ledkr · 30/04/2013 07:25

Quick hello so I don't drop off my threads.
D has nursery and I'm off sick so I intend to spend the mornig e baying my maternity clothes. Been meaning to do it for ages but its finding the time.

reastie · 30/04/2013 17:56

ledkr hope you're OK?

Blizy hope that appointment comes through quickly for you and you are pg again very soon. It just feels so unfair that I don't know what else I can say.

Just trying to finalise the new kitchen. It's taking so long but feeling really excited about our current design and spec. DH has picked out F&B 'white tie' for the unit colour - where do they get these colour names from?!

Work need me to work an extra day from September, which with the amount of prep for it at home will be a good 1.5 days extra. Can't work out childcare or want to work that much so am talking to my manager to see if they can get someone in to do the additional lessons. Theoretically they could give me an ultimatum of if I can't do it they will get someone in who can do all the hours. I hope it doesn't come to that and that they want me enough to let me job share Confused

americanexpat · 30/04/2013 18:17

Hope you're on the mend, ledkr.

reastie - I hope you get work sorted out. Are you 3 days a week right now?

The weather is fecking gorgeous, 25C but a bit windy. I realised neither L nor I have a summer wardrobe so will need to go shopping how horrible.

We had the house inspected yesterday, overall it's fine but the inspector did find a few bits that need to be sorted urgently and he recommended we have an engineer look at some cracks in the basement walls. We haven't set a final date yet but are looking to complete in mid-June so have time to do everything. The owner is a pensioner going into an assisted living home so I feel a bit Blush about asking her to have these things done but it's a huge investment for us. I'm just waiting for our agent to contact me about next steps.

ILovePonyo · 30/04/2013 20:48

Hi all,

ledkr hope you're ok. God ebaying is a faff, well done you if you got it all done!

reastie oh no, really hope work can be flexible for you. Hope you get the outcome you want. Pics of new kitchen when its done please!

blizy stupid af, how frustrating for you How was the hen night?

American Ooh I would feel bad about getting the pensioner to do things BUT its the right thing to do, its not worth the risk. We'll have to do something similar when we come to sell our house which is a pain!

We are fine, A has a nasty cough poor girl, and came into our bed this morning at half 6 and fell asleep til 7, I was amazed, she hasn't done that since she was a little baby!
PIL visited at the weekend and did our garden, they put a fence up so A doesn't fall in the pond Hmm and tidied loads, and bought her a plastic wendy house and tat slide which she loves. To be fair to them they did loads and it is much appreciated.

/nice weather here but its cold isn't it?! A is refusing to wear a coat/jumper and screamed for 20 mins the other day bcos she wanted to go in the garden but I wouldn't let her in just a strappy dress. Then she just stopped and put a top on and went out all happy Shock

americanexpat · 30/04/2013 21:42

My phone says it's 30C now. Shock I went for a walk in the sun and even with the wind it's quite hot.

Ledkr · 01/05/2013 07:20

ponyo how's a since she went in her bed?
Ds sleep is so unpredictable still (thread in sleep)
That we wondered about putting her in a bed tomorrow just to see if it helps and also easier to settle her than hanging into a cot.

ILovePonyo · 01/05/2013 08:48

I wrote you a reply earlier ledkr and its disappeared, stupid phone.

A's sleep is also unpredictable but tbh Ive just read your other thread and its deffo not as bad as D (hug for ledkr)

When we put her in the big bed she was settling fine but waking in the night, but we'd put her into her cot, say good night and she was asleep Shock Then the cot broke Hmm so we got the bed which she loves, but we can spend ages doing rapid return putting her back into bed, it was an hour and a half the other night Hmm

It was like no matter how tired she was, she just got a second wind as soon as she went into her new bed and started leaping out and running to open the door. BUT it was only 3 times last night

I feel for you, hope you find something that works.

Also, I think A is getting poorly but have sent her to nursery anyway :( She's woken up the past 3 mornings all 'shakey' and upset saying"I'm all shakey" in a sad voice, its like she's really hungry but shes eaten the day before? She doesn't eat loads of breakfast either. Any ideas anyone?

Got my apt with cruse today I don't want to go Biscuit

Ledkr · 01/05/2013 13:44

That does sound like low blood sugar ponyo.
If she's eating entry before bed then I'd get her checked.
D hardly eats so I wonder if that's why she wakes.
Re the bed I just feel that we are not managing the nights now so I may as well get a whole new set of issues.
Dies she still wake in the night?
Good luck with cruise xx

americanexpat · 01/05/2013 15:09

Ponyo - yes, sounds like low blood sugar. I get the same way sometimes, especially if I've eaten something sugary. What's she eating before bed?

ledkr - that sounds dire. Sad I agree with the poster on your thread who suggested allergies/intolerances or reflux. Is there something over the counter you could try for reflux?

L has been waking early the last few weeks, between 5 and 6 most days. I think the sunlight might be waking him but I'm not keen to put up blackout curtains if we're moving in 6 weeks or so. Confused

Ledkr · 01/05/2013 16:08

That's what gets me tho and has always woken before 6 and we never complain (much)
It's having such a negative effect on the whole family tbh.
We are a tired and Just feel constantly ill.
No social life no energy to do anything and no time to relax.
At the moment they are at the table bickering over crumpets all normal stuff but I feel too tired to deal with it.
Not sure whether to cancel the bloody pils or take advantage of some help.
Dh is working Monday so I'm worried they won't leave and ill be stuck all day with them.
If I pretend to go out and the fuckers don't go ill be homeless. Any ideas??

ILovePonyo · 01/05/2013 16:35

ledkr I would take full advantage of pil, get them helping out with D (which they do I think?) and then on Monday say that you have an appointment and bugger off, ask them to close the door behind them when they go. Or you could tell them you feel unwell and are going to bed, this won't work if D is at home with you though!
Its horrible, being tired can affect you so much and I know I feel so much better when A has a good few nights, its like I realise that things are ok I'm just shattered. I say try the bed, the only problem is when A gets out in the middle of the night I am too tired to keep putting her back so have out her in with me a couple of times (which I know you can't do).

American I have a blackout stick on thing on A's window, we NEED it! Its called a gro blind, I got it from toys r us but they sell them on amazon I think.

This low blood sugar thing is worrying me, shall I make docs appointment? How do they test for it, I am having horrible visions of them trying to take blood :(

ILovePonyo · 01/05/2013 16:38

Oh sorry, American A sometimes eats some of our tea (pasta/pizza/chicken and rice etc) before bed and sometimes will drink her milk. Not always though...

ledkr A has been recently waking in the night but she has a cough that wakes her up. Before that she slept well, still woke early but it was just getting her off to sleep that was the problem! Why does D wake? Ithink A used to roll around in her cot and bash her face on the bars, her beds a bit bigger so she doesn't do that (that's me guessing tho Confused

americanexpat · 01/05/2013 18:09

Ponyo - you should get it checked out if you're worried. Can you phone the surgery and speak with a nurse? Also try to give her a low-GI snack before bed? I know a few people in my family (including myself) who have episodes of hypoglycaemia but are otherwise healthy. I can cause one in myself by eating something sweet then exercising.

ledkr - being chronically sleep-deprived is horrible. Sad I'd let PILs visit so you can rest during the day. Did you get your thyroid sorted?

reastie · 01/05/2013 18:37

ponyo how horrible, poor Anya. Does sound like it could be low blood sugar. american that's interesting you have hypoglycaemic episodes. I always thought I might be hypoglycaemic as I tick all the boxes of symptoms and was on a no sugar diet for ages because of it and felt so much better on it. All my diabetes tests have always come out normal though so I'm probably not, just that way inclined!

Oh and ponyo how did it go with cruse? Was it an assessment or the first counselling session? Hope you feel like you'll get something from it.

ledkr have just posted on your thread. Lack of sleep can make everything hard to bear and cope with. Hope you're OK. If you can bear to cope with PIL and they will actually be useful (like ponyos impressive PIL!) then f it's for the greater good of your sanity and getting some sleep is it worth putting up with them? If the thought of buying all that extra food ( Grin ) , cleaning etc for them is more effort than the reward of time etc to yourself then you might decide it's not worth it.

wigglesrock · 01/05/2013 18:53

I was coming on to shout at everyone for disappearing and have just realised you dropped off my threads, I thought I'd made myself clear on talking when I'm not here Smile

ledkr that is so shit, nothing nothing is more debilitating than lack of sleep and then when you do go to bed I know I used to lie there unable to sleep because I know I'd be up again in 45 mins.

I read your thread in sleep, I'd go for the bed, start again, get pillow, duvet (character covers etc) and try it. Is D snoring at night? I know someone mentioned that on your thread. A still wakes occasionally in the night but is much much improved.

ponyo I'd give the Dr a bell, see what they say. I do know there's an awful lot of crappy little bugs and viruses floating about at the minute. I haven't properly shaken some ickiness from Easter Shock I feel constantly hungover that's the only way to describe it. Hope your appt at Cruse went ok x

americanexpat meh I'd have no guilt re the vendor - it's a lot of money you need to make sure you're happy I can be very hard sometimes Blush

Anna had her 2 year health visitor check today a little late Apparently she's very tall with great eyesight Grin She didn't scunder me too much - she built her tower of blocks, did her jigsaw, almost undid all my her good work by shouting Haribo and volunteering to sing a Rihanna song but I think we got away with it!

OP posts:
Ledkr · 01/05/2013 19:54

Ha ha that's funny wiggs they are a show up sometimes aren't they!
D has become bossy at music and busys herself putting the other kids hand into the right actions Blush
She also pushed a baby today in a row over a playhouse and then pulled. Boys ear for trying to take her play dough.
Worse thing was that I reacted by lightly tapping her hand. All at the friggin lefty nct group who probably think I'm a smacked now.
I left nearly in tears and marched home with the buggy.
Pmt and lack if sleep are a bad combo.

ILovePonyo · 01/05/2013 22:13

Ugh ignore that post about only having to put A back to bed 3 times - its 10pm and shes only just gone to sleep! Thing is ledkr I prefer this (loss of an evening/taking ages to go to sleep) than the middle of the night wakings which just feel awful when you're part way through your sleep cycle and it gets interrupted. At least with 'rapid return' theres no crying involved, its just waiting it out for her to go nod off.

It is sometimes funny too, I could hear her talking to herself saying "this foot little, this foot bigger" I don't know whose feet she was on about!

wiggles Grin at A, shes so funny.

ledkr I bet the nct group won't be judgy and if they are up theirs. If you were properly rested you prob wouldn't be feeling bad about it, also are you only working 2 days still? I find it knackering being at home with A so I bet D is super tiring! Work is deffo easier than being at home with toddler...

reastie cruse was first assessment (again!) it went well thanks and I'm glad I went, think it will be a good thing...

American I have no idea what low GI foods are?! Blush I don't know mch about low blood sugar really so have been googling. Going to ring the docs tomo.

Am so tired! Off to bed soon. Sorry for short replies all Blush

Oh, meant to say, I nearly had a little blub at nursery today - I picked A up and some of the bigger children were dancing, A was looking then a bigger girl came over and took her hand and said "come on Anya you dance" and off she went! I am not ashamed to say I had a tear in my eye :)

wigglesrock · 02/05/2013 10:29

ledkr I wouldn't worry about the baby group - when I take Anna and Emma, Anna always stands over Emma chastising "Naughty Emma Naughty" Blush I mean as you all know I don't even use the word naughty, if it was "bold Emma" I'd know she'd got in from me Wink She's picked it up from my parenting idols - Peppa Pig and family!

Sofia and Liv are off school Fri and Mon so fingers crossed the weather improves!

Any big plans for the bank holiday?

OP posts:
Ledkr · 02/05/2013 12:57

Yes wiggles the lovely pil are coming Grin
I am currently on no carbs dairy or sugar so we have healthy fresh but austere cupboards.
I shall not be adding to it.
Dh is working Monday so they need to go so I shall be pretending to leave the house in order for them to piss off.
This time I'm not leaving them here due to my new "has to be locked" door. Otherwise the feckers will still be sat here till four I clock.
Our local open air pool opens Saturday so we will be there weather permitting.
Ok big news d slept 7-7.
I'm not sure why but I only allowed an hrs nap.
Fed her a bowl of porridge for supper.
Disallowed tv for an hour before bed.
Marched her round the fecking park around five.
Shall be repeating the above tonight and praying.

reastie · 02/05/2013 13:42

ledkr that's great news re: dilly. Hope it wasn't just a one off. Is an hours nap short for Dilly then? Btw carb, dairy and sugar free diet? What on earth are you eating?!

wiggles so olivia is now a Liv? I got confused for a second there!

ponyo love the dance story. How did Docs go?

Alice completely showed me up in Tesco today. Before we went out she saw I had a hole in my knickers as she accompanied me to the loo as she loves to do so much Hmm and told me I needed new ones and then in tesco she said loudly and several times 'mummy hole knickers. Buy new one' Blush [mortified] . This is why I shop online!

wigglesrock · 02/05/2013 14:49

reastie Anna likes to comment loudly on my toilet habits - "have you done a poo today Mummy?" in Tescos or she loudly asks "wine for Daddy?"

I always call Olivia Liv in real life or Liv Lou which is where Anna got Lou Lou from - this is all she calls Olivia Smile

ledkr ah the dreaded pils - I'd forgotten Shock After our successful swimming trip the other week I said to Anna earlier "lets go swimming" , she looked at me with pity and told me "I've already done swimming". She only thinks she has to do something she's not fussed on once Shock School will be fun for her!

OP posts:
Ledkr · 02/05/2013 15:09

reastie it's the Anna Richardson diet. I can eat rice if its before 6
Today I've had porridge n fruit (allowed fruit carbs)
Then rye bread with humous and smoked salmon with avocado and rocket. Yum.
At night I have what they have but no spuds or pasta just veg.
It's ok really.
wiggs ds3 told me on his second day that he did like school but didn't want to go every day thanks.
When I listen to you all talk about the things they say I can see how dillys speech is delayed from her glue ear.
I'm making more effort to help her communicate as a lot of her problems are frustration.
I have been referred for minor surgery on my parathyroid.
Should mean my symptoms go ie moods headaches and fatigue.

americanexpat · 02/05/2013 19:15

wiggles - Grin at wine for daddy. I'm not entirely sure that L knows why we go to the supermarket, though he insisted on carrying his own basket last week Hmm and would stop to look at something interesting then put it in his basket. Grin He was keen to get a dog lead (we don't have a dog) and was loading up his basket with sweets.

reastie - I just had fasting glucose done and it was normal (though at the top of the normal range). I'm not sure why it happens but I seem to be otherwise healthy. Confused

Ponyo - GI = glycemic index. Low GI means a slow energy release and hopefully stable blood sugar, high GI can cause a blood sugar spike then crash. I think diabetics use it mostly. Deffo ring the GP if it keeps happening though.

I seem to have picked up a tummy bug, have been back and forth to the loo (at work) all morning. I can't catch a fecking break. Sad

americanexpat · 02/05/2013 22:23

At least I'm not having any trouble sticking to my diet today. [silver lining]
