Our first thread has almost finished so I thought we'd need a new one!

glorious · 11/04/2013 08:32

Oh, hard earned then pascha

happyhow · 11/04/2013 10:25

Lolli - I haven't had a period yet either and B is 13 weeks tomorrow. They can be irregular after having a baby as your hormones are all over the place. If you're worried, do a test...

Pascha - hats off to you. Sounds like a horrible evening. X

Birdies · 11/04/2013 12:00

Sorry, it was me who said about the 12lbs.....it's not working here either! Up 5 times last night. Feeding so much nappies are soaked through by the morning.

However, I have heard about 3 month sleep regression which then gets better again, so maybe it's that?

Trying to push forward hip scan by phoning hospital early next week as they should have the referral letter by then and will ask to take the place of any cancellation they get. Fingers crossed...

CreepyCrawly · 11/04/2013 12:17

Fingers crossed for you too birdies. How frustrating for you.

I also think the 12lb thing is rubbish. Nancy has been sleeping through for a few weeks now, the most we've ever had to get up is once, and she was 11lb2 two weeks ago. Expecting every night to be the night it all changes.

Those of you that had ceseareans, or had one previously, is it normal to have absolutely no feeling in the scar area?

-boast alert- I look thinner today than I did before I got pregnant. I think it's just these jeans though, so I'm never taking them off!

Angielka · 11/04/2013 13:49

Hope they get you your scan quickly birdies how worrying for you. A friend of mine has one leg longer than the other and it has never been a problem for her. I'm sure it'll be fine.

creepy I've had two c-sections now and after the first I had no feeling in the scar area at all for weeks and weeks. I've just checked, and it's come back quicker this time, but it's still not normal. It'll go back to normal eventually though. All the nerves have to join up again I guess where they were cut.

Birdies · 11/04/2013 14:23

Thanks everyone.

creepy I've not only got numbness above my scar, I also have numbness in my tummy too - I don't get stomach ache in the same way and my bladder doesn't feel the same either. I'm told it can take a while to feel normal again.

CreepyCrawly · 11/04/2013 17:41

Pleased to hear its normal, makes perfect sense about the nerves being cut etc.

Hope everyone's had a good day, it's been quiet!

AppleCrumples · 11/04/2013 20:18

Hi all long day here think the hols go on too long! On the plus side Ivy went to sleep at 9 last night and didn't stir again til 4! A new personal best! Long may it continue - fingers firmly crossed!

Dcs all.a bit cranky as not much going on today, am sick of the park but think we'll have to go tomorrow just to get out. 2 parties at weekend. 1 is 30 miles away Hmm which i'm.not happy about. Its also a glam.pamper party at a salon for lots of 4/5 yr old girls [bluuurrgh] but dd1 excited while i just wonder what happened to soft play parties? Ds2s footie party sounds more fun!

Hope everyone ok.

happyhow · 11/04/2013 20:38

We had baby massage this afternoon and Bailey was being very sociable, chatting the whole way through. I think he liked it but he's been a grumpy bugger the rest of the afternoon and fed constantly from half 3-6. Got hubby making the dinner just now while I feed B again...

Couple of questions...

Do any other babies play with their ears? B plays with his left ear a lot, especially when tired.

Also, how often do people bath their babies? I tend to do B every 2-3 days fully otherwise it's just topping and tailing. Trying to decide on what sort of bedtime routine to implement. At the moment I bath B in the morning but that can change. Was thinking maybe bath one night, massage the next?

Meringue33 · 11/04/2013 22:02

Hello all how are we doing? Hope you are all good. Sorry it has been stressful lately Birdies. If it helps at all, I have one leg shorter than other and it is really common. It is now contributing a bit to a bad back but nothing too bad and until now it had not bothered me at all (I'm in my thirties).

Happy we are now bathing DS nightly in hope of est a bedtime routine. He does really like it now (except getting out), and it seems to use up a lot of energy and tire him out ready to sleep.

Our biggest problem at present is getting him to nap in day and early eve. He will self settle at night and for a morning nap sometimes but later in day and eve he tends to be v wakeful and playful, then next minute red eyed and overtired, and screams himself hysterical. I've just been at my mums for nearly two weeks and she was great at taking him and rocking him to sleep in such moods... When I've tried to copy her he does calm down but before he falls asleep the aforementioned bad back kicks in... Most I've managed is 20 mins and then was in agony so had to stop :(

Angielka · 11/04/2013 22:06

Aaaargh, we have the pox! DD1 is covered in spots and I'm just waiting for Molly to get it Sad the worst thing is now we're stuck indoors for a good few days until the infectiousness wears off. At least she seems happy enough - I'm dreading the itchy stage though.

happy I haven't noticed the ear thing but Molly has definitely got to the the grab everything and put it in my mouth phase. Re baths - we do every other day, and I tend to bath Molly during the day too, leaving more time for DD1's bath in the evening. I can't get away with every 3 days with Molly as her deep folds start getting a bit smelly Shock. That's what comes of having such a chunky monkey.

AppleCrumples · 11/04/2013 22:20

Angie how old is dd1? My dss both had it when they were 16 months and 3 and i.kept waiting for the itchiness etc but other than the millions of spots you'd never have known they were ill! Dd1 hasn't had it yet which worries me as am.sure the boys were easy because they were so young.

Ivy probably isn't bathed often enough Blush although has had 2 since monday as she keeps doing exploding poos! This morning i'd just got her cleaned up from huge poo when she weed on everything and had to go back in the bath.

mrsbugsywugsy · 11/04/2013 22:27

we have just started to bath dd every night, as part of her bedtime routine. before we only bathed her every two or three days but she seems to enjoy them.

BuntyCollocks · 11/04/2013 23:02

Oh no, angie! :( keep a close eye, there was a really frightening thread at the start of the year about a little boy with chicken pox. I had no idea it could be so dangerous.

meringue I feel your pain, DD is the same. My DM and DMIL have both been down recently and they were great at rocking her to sleep, and I too am rather shit when it comes to copying them.

Have had a hellish day today. Dd has refused to nap. She got up at 7am, and has had 90 mins all day if I'm lucky and had just went to sleep.

It's the big wonder week (absolutely misnomer this time) now - 14 1/2 weeks to 19 weeks. My app, depressingly, told me it was 35 days until the end of this leap.

She's been an overtired, screaming, attention seeking mess today. Wits end.

Lora1982 · 12/04/2013 00:49

We i bath dexter every 2-3 days or sooner if needed but top and tail if im feeling lazy. He gets more baths than me though so im jealous... And annoyed cis hes not a massive fan but id love to be in there instead Grin

Went to an nct first aidy thing it was really usefull and proud considering it was prime feeding time (7-9) he only moaned for dinz at ten to nine. Perhaps he realised it was best to let me learn how to save his life in peace Grin

In other news ive fell inn love with my new brushed cotton quilt cover. Considering the minimal hours im in it, im pleased its so cosy.

Wuxiapian · 12/04/2013 07:18

Fingers crossed you can get earlier appt for LO, Birdies.

happyhow, I try to keep the bathing to every 3ish days - can be less depending on how much milk bubs brings up after his feeds (and gets it trapped in his chunky monkey creases). Too much bathing can be drying (and a little grime won't hurt him).

Aaargh, Angielk!! Bad news. Hope it passes quickly! Bubs seems to have escaped it, but, as I hear from numerous good authorities, it's better for them to have it now - get it out the way. My Dr reassured me (mid hysteria) that it's not serious - just stock up on calamine lotion!

Still not getting a decent night's sleep this side. I think it's his colic making him agitated. HV told me babies usually outgrow it by 12 weeks - another week to go, then. Has anyone's LO not outgrown it by then??

I'm shattered and DS1 at his Nan's for the day, so might make the most of it and (try) do bugger-all!

Bunny222 · 12/04/2013 07:28

birdies good luck with the scan,
angie hope the pox isnt too bad.

We are still trying the 10pm dream feed, which pushes wake-up time to between 5.30/6.30 with some stirring around 4am. LO is 10 weeks and combination fed. How do other dream feeders get on?

Angielka · 12/04/2013 08:25

DD1 is 30 months apple she's off nursery now but a cheerful soul so maybe we'll be let off lightly. I had chicken pox when I was 3 and so could only have one other fellow pox victim at my birthday party... [makes vow NOT to google scary pox thread later]

We were going to start a dream feed bunny but it's that time of day when I'm just knackered and can't bring myself to add half an hour on before bedtime, so we never did it, and Molly now seems to sleep 9-7 [relieved]

Right, onwards...

Birdies · 12/04/2013 09:22

meringue thanks (and whoever else told me about having one leg longer), definitely helps as google hasn't!

angiel hope your DD gets better soon.

I'm not into a routine with bathing at all. Probably bathe her twice a week after a poo explosion. I do use a lot of water when doing her nappies and clean her little face every day. I think as long as its a minimum once a week it's ok.

In other news, I think she's teething! Has started massively dribbling and needing to wear a bib and that, with the more unsettled nights makes me think its teething. I also read that it's common to start around now (15-16 weeks).

And I also read its 16lbs when sleep often gets better, not 12lbs as I'd said before. Oops! Hey at least most of you will still have it to look forward to then!

Oh hang on - bunty so I'm in a teething mode AND a wonder week?!

Meringue33 · 12/04/2013 09:54

Bunty, oh no! LO is only 13 weeks so we must still have worse to come??

Bunny I swear by the dream feed. Usually DP gives it as ff in a bottle at 10pm or 11pm. On Tue DS didn't get his df as he fell asleep at my breast at 9.30pm and was really sound asleep. He didn't wake for another feed til 4.30am - seven hours and no bottle just cluster bf. I figured he must be capable of that every night now; I also noticed that most nights recently when he's been waking me for a feed, I've turned on the light and seen that his eyes are actually still closed and just making noises in his sleep. So I resolved last night that I wouldn't turn the light on and pick him up until I heard a full on hunger cry. Lo and behold he slept from 11.30pm to 6.45am, albeit with a few whinges during the night.

Am so tempted to put him in his own room now so I don't get woken by the low level noises, but too scared of SIDS guidance!

glorious · 12/04/2013 09:59

I'm the other uneven leg person birdies Smile Good idea to ask for a cancellation.

Much sympathy for the pox angie

Baths are about twice a week here too as she has quite dry skin. It's a shame as she loves a bath. We've just tried having her in the big bath with me which I loved as well.

CreepyCrawly · 12/04/2013 10:39

Oh no angie. Hope it's not too bad.

Bath every other night here, mostly because she loves it, and her hair gets a bit gross if we leave it any longer. She's just learning that kicking her legs in the water is fun.

When she goes in a cot, is it still 'feet to foot'?

Louise85 · 12/04/2013 10:42

Angie not nice!! Hope it clears soon. I hav huge sympathy esp sinceu stuck indoors for a couple days.

Meringue dd went in her own room from night 1 - she was a snorer and I couldn't sleep with her in the room, and we put ds in his own room last week and its been great...we still follow feet at bottom etc....

So when we were doing the df at 10/11 ds was going till 4am, niggling till 7 then a bottle. I've dropped the df and now he goes from 6pm till 4:30am - quick feed and then back down till 7...getting loads more sleep!! now to wean him off 4am feed :-)

struggling to get him off no1 teats onto a bigger one - he battles so much with wind on both vari-flow and no2...any suggestions??

BuntyCollocks · 12/04/2013 11:20

birdies and meringue I'm afraid so. This is the one where sleep regression sometimes hits.

DS stopped sleeping through with this leap and didn't start again until 16 months.

Meringue33 · 12/04/2013 11:42

Noooooo!!
