Our first thread has almost finished so I thought we'd need a new one!

Spring, that's how I woke up - leaking everywhere with rock hard, massive boobs. He usually does 10-4 but last night was very unusual. He's literally just woken up this second with instant screaming - again unusual.

BuntyCollocks · 25/03/2013 09:08

spring dd is generally up once at about 3 (sometimes 2 or 4, though), and then sleeps til about 6:30 -7. If she has the chance she'll have a big feed and go back to sleep for another 3 hours, but have DS on mon and fri here so she has to get up with me on those days.

I was engorged at the middle of the night feed and first morning feed until literally 2 days ago. Am a little sad it's stopped as though I know it's normal for it to settle and engorgemeng isn't good and ends up meaning less milk in the long run, it assured me I had plenty there.

Pascha · 25/03/2013 09:24

Envy of the new car Happy. What did you go for? We are looking for an estate to replace the x-reg focus which, with the best will in the world, is not going to fit pram, travel cot, clothes for four people and a bunch of baby paraphernalia without a roof box when we go on holiday in May.

Dan woke me up at 5.58am crying as he was soaking right through to the sleeping bag. I have half a pack of size 2 nappies left, guess I won't be using them overnight anymore. The timing was rubbish as it was just before DH's alarm goes off. Nothing worse than waking up before you need to and finding out you only have 2 minutes instead of a nice snuggly warm half hour...

birdies · 25/03/2013 09:25

We had a 7 hour stretch last night, hoping that continues.....so boobs rock hard, I just leave them until next feed. They don't leak anymore though, just get more and more like two massive boulders!

eagleray · 25/03/2013 09:28

Regarding night feeds, I'm about the same as Bunty - last night the last feed was around midnight, then she slept til 3.45, then til 6.30, which is pretty typical. Have had one instance of her sleeping through, but it was a one-off.

I've never, ever leaked or felt particularly engorged, but then I've had problems with milk production from the beginning!

DP came home with size 2 nappies yesterday (DD is in size 3's now) and thought they would be ok. Then I hear a plaintive voice 'oh god she has poo in her hair!!!'. Unfortunately I'm still ill in bed so couldn't help him clear the mess up...

Pascha · 25/03/2013 09:29

I'm still sleeping with a towel wrapped round my boobs but its getting less and less necessary. Still wake with a wet sheet or duvet about every 3 days though.

happyhow · 25/03/2013 09:34

We got a Golf SE. Very nice to drive and comfier/faster than my trusty fiesta. It's taken us months to decide what we were going to buy and hubby finally decided yesterday. He has a Golf GTI so he was happy that the one I'm getting handled well and had good acceleration etc. I'm not allowed to do any long journeys in my car at the moment because it's not big enough and not safe enough apparently... (It would be fine, he's just become a massive softie since B was born...)

B is currently having another nap after his breakfast... Clearly we're having a sleepy day today.

BuntyCollocks · 25/03/2013 09:44

pascha we have a focus estate and I adore it. It has plenty of room for all the crap we need for a toddler and baby. We took it up to Scotland when dd was 3 weeks, so it was loaded with, to be fair, a lot of crap for 'just in case', and it did the job admirably.

It's also like shit off a shovel, and handles like a dream. I luff it.

Pascha · 25/03/2013 09:54

I quite fancy the Skoda Octavia estate, its big but they are about to bring a new model out which means the old one will be sold off cheaper. (what I really want is an XC90 but that is completely out of the price range and also v. expensive to run). Its more likely to be an Auris/Golf/Focus size in reality.

DS1 has just run up and told me "nakey danny! nakey danny!" meaning wakey danny as he's just opened his eyes Grin

BuntyCollocks · 25/03/2013 10:48

My friend has the octavia estate and it's about the same size I thi j as my focus - either way she loves it as much as I love mine, so it's probably a good choice!

DS keeps telling me "not today mummy" with anything he doesn't want/doesn't want to do. Cute, but grating at meal times ...

Tugstonia · 25/03/2013 11:45

Spring DD usually feeds twice in the night, around midnight and then at 3amish, then wakes at 6.30/7am. I too wake up with soaking wet bedclothes and huge, hard boobs.

She has finally gone to sleep... after an hour of rocking, singing and cuddling. I have a big interview and exams in a couple of weeks that I really need to prepare for and can't put off any longer, so really hope she sleeps for a while so I can get some work done Hmm

BuntyCollocks · 25/03/2013 12:05

DS napping, dd and I loving glee. Aaaah :)

SpringFlowers · 25/03/2013 12:12

Thanks for the comments, we're pretty typical then! I am getting so much more sleep than when I was pregnant so have been pleased overall.

Meringue33 · 25/03/2013 16:41

I bought a ten year old Volvo estate when pregnant - it rocks. Classic mummy car I know but it is so great not to worry about room, plus it drives beautifully :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 25/03/2013 17:38

I've caught dd's cold now Sad

spent the day in bed doing the absolute minimum of feeding and changing her and keeping her occupied watching cartoons.

Lora1982 · 25/03/2013 18:34

I think the 11wk wonder week has started today hes being a whinge. Everytime i go near him hes crying for boob falls sleep or unlatches then cries cos my nips not in his mouth. How rude. Excited to see what new things he can do when its over though

octanegirl · 25/03/2013 19:43

I'm back! Skiing was fab, was awesome to not lift a finger all day. We got a nanny for 4 hrs per day to look after LO, she was excellent. His sleeping got much worse though, he was waking several times per night demanding food, nanny said it was very common with babies at altitude as the air is dry and they get dehydrated. Im hoping that now I'm back he'll go back to his usual once per night.
I was ok on skis, was worried post section, but was more cautious than I used to be. New parent thing? Maybe....

AppleCrumples · 25/03/2013 19:55

Spring i'm the same. I sleep so mucg better now i'm not pregnant that i don't mind getting up. Ivy is in a similar routine at night as everyone else. Last night i put her in her crib awake at 9 and left her to settle and thank god she did! Didn't know what to do with my time! Even better she slept til 2, her longest yet!

Re the cars am a bit Envy we are saving for a new car but i love my little fiesta :( sadly it is completly inapropriate for us and we need a people carrier! Thankfully buses are really good here so we get
about fine.

Had to get out the 3-6 month ckothes we were given as Ivy is literally popping outof the 0-3 month stuff

mrsbugsywugsy · 25/03/2013 20:50

aargh, just found out dd was exposed to chicken pox at the weekend! friend's ds has come out in spots...

BuntyCollocks · 25/03/2013 22:40

I hate wonder week 11.

I hate wonder week 11.

I hate wonder week 11.

Repeat ad nauseum, whilst smashing face into wall, and holding a clingy baby to a boob. Constantly. I've had to break out the fucking lansinoh.

eagleray · 25/03/2013 22:47

Sorry another BF question here - although it might be a bit tricky to answer...

In a 24 hour period, how much time do your babies spend on the boob, roughly?

I was worried that DD was spending too long, and it was because my milk supply still isn't what it should be (huge problems in the early days), but now wonder if it is perhaps normal after all..

Lora1982 · 25/03/2013 23:11

Bunty im with you on the hate. Just had a right tantrum and he was refusing boob and screaming at it. Resorted to a bottle which he took merrily. Sod.

Eagleray hes on me practcally every two hours in the morning after nine then evry hour after five!! Sometimes for upto forty mins at a time.if i go out he'll happily sleep in his pram from 12-4 if i dontt he feeds and stays awake. The two bottles he get at 11 and in the night are a small relief. If your worried about supply fenugreek seems to have helped me

happyhow · 25/03/2013 23:17

B is on the first side for 20-30 mins, gets winded, often has a nap for at least 10 mins then wants the other side which he's on for 10-15 mins usually then winded again. In general, the whole process takes at least an hour. During the day, he goes 3-4hrs between feeds. At night we're getting 6hrs minimum although this seems to be beginning to increase. Smile

Lora1982 · 26/03/2013 08:53

Wooo after the shenanigans last night he slept 11,30 to 7,30.

Im going to attempt this nct bumps n babies thing today. If time management goes to plan and i get there i will be able to make a hand print easter card :-D how exciting ive not done that for twenty odd years Grin

Tugstonia · 26/03/2013 09:11

Oh no Bugsy about your friend with the ds with chickenpox... I hope you and DD are ok.

Eagle I have a b'feeding app on my phone and DD spends about 3.5 - 4.5 hours on the boob in a 24hr period. Average feed time is 25 mins.

Bunty hope you're ok... am not looking forward to wonder week 11!
