Sorry I didn't do a linky: www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/apr/04/samantha-brick-thrown-to-wolves

rootypig · 27/02/2013 11:25

sweetpea sorry if this has already come up but have you tried just oil on the dry head? olive or grapeseed or sunflower, anything vegetable (but not nut). will make your LO look like a bit of a greaser but really helps. I rub in a few drops before S goes to bed, she sleeps with a muslin under her head to catch her barf ups anyway. and she doesn't have much hair, which makes it easier, the little baldie Grin

sweetpea1112 · 27/02/2013 11:26

Thanks rooty I use olive oil on it which seems to help the appearance of the skin but not the dryness iyswim. He does look like a little grease ball Smile

Morning everyone! Well we're in the middle of the 12 week fucking growth spurt. No cluster feeding this time but she is draining both breasts every feed (usually only has one side) and is feeding at 11pm and 4am, she had missed both of these feeds for the last few weeks. I hope it ends soon.

Sorry about your car mm

Bad mummy here too vq, B had been in her own room since she was 5 weeks, she also sleeps in get room for all naps when were at home. Do I win?

Trying to be fly today. I've stripped and washed the bedding snd prepared sausage casserole for tea (it's smelling lovely in the slow cooker, drool). It's such a lovely day here that I've even hung th sheets outside on the line!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 27/02/2013 11:31

Hi rooty and sweetpea

Someone on here recommended Aveeno cream for cradle cap, I've used it and it really works. I massage it into her head in the bath like shampoo and rinse it away.

Passmethecrisps · 27/02/2013 11:32

Morning fuck monkeys

Before I got any further what the actual Jeff is Baby Einstein? I met with a woman fr coffee recently and she was all about the Baby Einstein. I take a look when I get home and, forgive me if I a massing something, but is it not just like CBeebies? But shit? It seemed to me a way of meaning stressed mums can park their baby in front of the telly guilt free because it is 'Baby Einstein'. Am I wrong? Anyone got other experiences?

Oh, same woman asked the inevitable question about sleep. When I said how P sleeps she responded with "well, I'll put that down to her being formula fed".

Now said woman is lovely but has obviously bought into the formula = sleep myth. I have said probably a million times boring story repetition alert before that my brother didn't sleep more than 2 hours a time until he was 2. He was formula fed.

Anyway, shocking news about tongue tie detective. How do you tell? I asked a couple of midwives about P and they said they didn't think she had it.

rootypig · 27/02/2013 11:32

oh pea that is interesting! DD has dry skin / eczema, was born with epidural. I don't and wasn't. DH does, he was caesarian.

Hmm

There are some that are really obvious pass, the tongue hardly juts forward, and the frenulum is close to the tip of the tongue.

O's isn't obvious til I had a good old stare in there. Now he is older, it is more obvious, as when their mouths are so small as newborns, everything looks close together. Now it is bigger, it is much more obvious.

:( I queried it too when he was small. But it is only now I would say, yes, he does have one. Explains why he took so long to feed. :(

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 11:39

PR Do you want the pleasure, or shall I?!

Grin
TheDetective · 27/02/2013 11:42

Oh. Interesting. Both children have eczema, and both had epidural/spinal.

I don't have it, and I don't think my mum had an epidural. I'll have to ask her. I know everything else about my birth though! Grin

DP doesn't have eczema now but did when little, he grew out of it. I'm pretty sure his mum didn't have an epidural.

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/02/2013 11:42

I have 3 fucking slings! (moby, ring and generic) can't work out any of them without J looking like him limbs are in places they shouldn't be. Hmm
I can put him on his play mat/gym thing and he rolls himself off and cries.

Also, he does one so small have so much stuff?! I'm looking round from my new forever home (the sofa) and all I can see is baby stuff, playmats, gyms, nappies, wipes (clean!), baby bath, car chair , pushchair... It's madness!

rootypig · 27/02/2013 11:42

yy sweetpea iswym, I suppose is the same for S, the oil hasn't actually made it go away. thanks ManyDicks, might give that a go. is there a specific one in the Aveeno range? on S's little bod (dry little legs espesh) we use some of DH's epaderm ,which he was prescribed for an eczema flareup and says is suitable for babies, seems to help a bit. Neal's Yard baby balm wot we got given is ace but is so expensive for a pot of oil, it's not really a long term fix!

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 11:46

Oh no Detective how on earth did the HV not spot it weeks ago?!! Awww that would explain his slow feeds when wee.

Kissy anbesol is marketed at old people to stop dentures from causing pain but is recommended for teething too ask for it over the pharmacy counter. Ta for the tip on giving after the feeds!

Pass that seems to be my take on Baby Einstein - cbeebies for snobs! Grin

PR FAB LINKY!!!!!!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 27/02/2013 11:47

I use Aveeno daily moisturising lotion rooty, I use it every bath time. If I forget it becomes dry again but disappears when I use it.

Kyzordz · 27/02/2013 11:50

yw is there a small persons anbesol or just the adult one? I use it and think its ace but didn't know there's a small person one/they can have it! The calgel didnt numb my gum when I tried it either

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2013 11:58

We're being spammed? Geez.

Baby Einstein are findable on youtube so don't waste your money but they ar pretty shite. On youtube there is a whole trailer for the series, and the creator speaks. That will put you off.

My babies have always preferred sports matches to anything else on TV. Tennis or football in particular. I am wondering if it is because there is a big area all one colour, green for football for example, and they like that? DD1 is only just starting to show an interest in actual TV that isn't music related and that's kind of because I am encouraging her to because, well, sometimes I need a freaking break.

Dry baby skin: my paediatrician recommended La Roche Posay Cicaplast. It works.

Eczema. Hmm, I have siblings with it and we weren't born with epidural. DH has it and no epidural there either, his sister has it too and she was born with epidural. I thought it was genetics.

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 12:04

I don't think the HV ever looked. I did ask at one point. I forget when. It is all a blur!! But it just wasn't an obvious one, it is only now I can say it looks like it definitely.

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 12:06

kyz kids can use the adult one - just use one application every 3 hours. On the box it gives the dosage for teething xx

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 12:11

Maybe he is putdownable today... oooh. I got him in the swing for his nap, and he is now awake and still in the swing after 10 minutes.

I am avoiding eye contact Grin.

We had our first green thick poo this morning. Assume it is the formula. I will see how he gets on, and perhaps give him some cooled boiled water to drink if he becomes constipated.

YW I hate formula companies with a passion, their advertising, underhand tactics etc. I don't hate formula, I just hate what the companies do. I don't think there should be a market for it as such. It should just be sold, factual information given, end of. None of this advertising and sly tactics etc.

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 12:14

Spoke too soon!

BigPigLittlePig · 27/02/2013 12:17

Afternoon fuckers!
I can't remember who has said what but...

Housework is done here in 5 minute bursts owing to velcro-like nature of little pig and I make dh do the hoovering.

I have a theory. F was sleeping 7/8 hours from 9pm until 3 days ago. For the past 3 days, she's had a bath each night at 7ish, to try to stop the cluster feeding sore nips and has woken at 2 instead, plus any number of times after that. Coincidence? Will avoid bath tonight in favour of 2 hour feedathon - watch this space.

Fs tongue tie looked like this

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 12:21

Detective my views exactly - my hatred is for the companies not the product. As the horsemeat saga shows - some products can't be trusted in the hands of those seeking to make money. Such worries are also why I'm so against any privatisation of the NHS. Some things are too important to be vulnerable to profit margins and cost cutting.

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 12:42

Damn it, I have period pains. And a velcro baby... waaaaaaah!

I just flicked on to cbeebies and am utterly alarmed at what I just watched!! Some grown up bird dressed as a baby bird, in a nappy, a bib, a bonnet and booties... oh god, it was weird! I just giggled like a loon all the way through it. Turning adult TV on now!!

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 12:49

Do babies comfort eat when teething or are we combining 4 month growth spurt and teething in our house? Help have got cabin fever - neeeeed to get out into the sunshine.
