ValiumQueen · 27/02/2013 08:48

caped I would call the HV or ask the doctor about the spots just to be safe. I have no experience of this.

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2013 08:49

Don't know what it's like in the UK but here we've had the least sunlight during the winter months for almost 50 years. Less than 100 hours. It's always been grey and raining. Or grey and snowing. Or just grey. I can count the number of nice days we have had, proper riding weather as I used to say back in the day - cold and sunny and crisp - on one hand.

We had a really nice week the week LO was born, and since the it's been shite. Last summer was shite too. I'm sure I'd cope with flu and related crap far better if the weather was better.

capedcrusader25 · 27/02/2013 08:57

I will do vq just waiting for them to open, wonder what it could be?? Fingers crossed nothing too serious Confused

Kyzordz · 27/02/2013 08:58

Good fucking morning all! Heaps to do today, e is out for a couple of hours with his grandma. I'm glad it's sweaty Wednesday and do far I'm mainly just pissed off at this cunting period, it won't sod off.

vq I will take a photie and put it on our Facebook thing (of where his head is in his car seat)

E woke at 2:30, I nearly died and may have mumbled fucking really, it's earlier than yesterfuckingday! but he had kicked the covers off and went back to sleep when I put them back on. He didn't even want his dummy so he must've gotten chilly. He has outgrown 0-3 grow bags, may need to invest in some bigger ones if he keeps up with the cover kicking business! Didn't see him again till 7am, I can live with that

Going to have a lovely shower whereby I haven't had to rush my arse off to get back to e for a change!

Back later fuckweasels!

ValiumQueen · 27/02/2013 09:04

Thank you for the reassurances about other babies waking with formula. I think as usual I am blaming myself, thinking his poor sleep is due to crap milk, so I am actually reassured that he slept as well as he did without it. I should not feel like this. He is big, fat and healthy. He is alert and such a lovely nature. It is wonderful seeing his little personality coming through.

kissyfur · 27/02/2013 09:35

Bloody hell I'm late again! 7 pages in already! And I've missed the car seat chat, no way will LO last til 9 months in her rear facing one, she is filling it already. Need to look at getting another for her and a new one for DD1, that's going to be expensive!

Going to attempt to catch up properly today, happy fucking sweary Wednesday to all!

Oh and welcome sweetpea and rooty :)

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2013 09:54

VQ it is great isn't it seeing bits of their personaluties already. LO is as smiley as her sister is/was but calmer. DD1 was always a happy little livewire. If LO is happy plus calm woukd be wonderful.

sweetpea1112 · 27/02/2013 10:29

Morning all,

Hope good nights were had by many. Ours was a bit rubbish, three wakings and much head rubbing all night. Going to buy some oilatum today to see if that helps his dry skin.

Off for jabs later Sad and to see HV about Oscar's head as it has gotten very flat on one side and I'm quite worried about it now. HV wants to measure it so shall see what she says.

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/02/2013 10:31

VERY STUPID Q ALERT!

How the Jeffrey do you get housework done with a Velcro baby? I'm finding myself glued to the sofa everyday while J sleeps on my chest, he sleeps in the cot at night but not anywhere that isn't me in the day.

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 10:34

Shitting 1.47am. 3.30. 6.33 and up at 8.30. Grumble grumble. He was dumped unceremoniously on DP at 6.33 Grin. He didn't want feeding at 1.47. He wanted to sleep on me. Which he did.

Fucking dickhead DP 'do you think it's the formula making him like this' as O is screeching as I put him down. What fucking planet is he on? He is like this 90% of the time for me at the moment. Twat. Has he not fucking noticed before now?! Confused Clearly it isn't the formula seeing as he has been on it 36 hours. Hmm

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 10:36

Tits. I don't! Unless it's urgent then I put him down to whinge. If it isn't urgent like broken glass urgent! it doesn't get done til there are 2 of us around.

Siiiiigh.

Titsalinabumsquash · 27/02/2013 10:37

I was afraid you would say that.. Oh well, I'll get comfy then Grin

Contradictionincarnate · 27/02/2013 10:39

tits I want to know about housework too my baby just doesn't sleep! when she plays in her room in the morning I can express and get a shower but that's it then ... I have a Moby sling but haven't worked out how it works yet!

sweetpea1112 · 27/02/2013 10:42

Tits same situation here. Housework gets done when DP gets home from work. I do the odd bit of washing up/shoving washing in the machine/making lunch while he is occupied on his playmat. Yesterday he had two 2.5 hour naps on me. My sofa has my arse imprint on it.

misslaughalot · 27/02/2013 10:45

Horsey I'm not going to do anything rash with my job, I'm just exploring my options really. That's useful to know about the holiday, but our annual leave runs September to September and I used 4 weeks of it before starting ML and am using one more at the end. So I'll only be 3 months into the new year when I go back which will earn me a few days holiday but not enough I suspect. It might be a moot point anyway if they come back to me and say they can change my role to accommodate my requests. We'll see.

Ooooh sweary Wednesday. Rant alert! Why oh why can't my arsemonkey of a DP do the washing up or any fucking hosework at all ?! I know he's working 12 hour shifts at the moment, but I feel like I'm working 24 hour shifts, and in my breaks I have to do another job by getting housework done. I cook the dinner, we eat and then we try to get babylaughalot down to sleep after which I crash too. I wanted to cry when I came downstairs today to see the mess in the kitchen still sitting there. He didn't come to bed until bloody midnight, and it would have taken all of 10 minutes.

Hmmmm not sweary enough really...

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 10:55

VQ that's why I struggle with the ethics of the formula companies (in the past admittedly but it still makes me dubious today) they advertised their products for decades as helping babies to sleep (not allowed to say this now thank goodness) meaning that many BF mums today still get pressure from relatives who had their kids when these ads were legal, to give a bottle at the first hint of sleep issues.

I hate the advertising industry anyway but this has had such a toxic and pervasive influence in terms of the self doubt and confidence damage caused. The first thing we question is our own natural milk and that is so sad. Babies will sleep when they are ready to regardless of how they're fed.

Why is so much of our culture (ahem Daily Mail) so keen to shit on Mums? All I can think is that there must be business benefits - mums with low confidence are better consumers - once we doubt our abilities in one area of mothering we are maybe more likely to buy products we don't need to help us in other areas? Baby Einstein I'm looking at you!!!!

Anyway enough of my ranting at corporates.....

We are in the world of teething in the YW house. Gave peedie breeks some anbesol and he nearly bit my hand off! I tried it myself at my sisters yesterday and it totally numbed my gum whereas calpol gel just felt like cold sweet liquid with no numbing sensation. He is much happier. Think tonight I'm going to apply it before bed and after the night feed.

YellowWellies · 27/02/2013 11:01

Sweet pea, tits and detective exactly the same problem and same solution (do it when there's two of us at home). Cleaning this place to get our deposit back when we move to our bought house is going to be fun!!!

kissyfur · 27/02/2013 11:09

I've not heard of that teething stuff YW, we've got teething troubles here too. I read that it's best not to give them anything numbing right before a feed as it can make it hard for them to feed properly.

Was going to get LO a teether but she can't hold anything yet. Cant remember when they usually start doing that, is anyone else's LOs holding things yet?

Contradictionincarnate · 27/02/2013 11:11

oh and pr its been exceptionally cold for the time of year we had a lovely week a fortnight ago sunny fresh but then we just went back to winter ...poor birds all started getting their thangs on and now this! not to mention the plants!

PetiteRaleuse · 27/02/2013 11:12

YW it's all women, not just mums that the DM likes to shit on :

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 11:16

Fucking hell. O has got a tongue tie. I've finally been able to look in his mouth properly.

:(

Explains everything really.

TheDetective · 27/02/2013 11:19

"The general motto of the Daily Mail seems to be that a woman's role in life is to be pretty, thin, get married, quit work, have children and, ideally, disappear or die before getting embarrassingly old and fat (it is no wonder the paper loved Diana so much.)"

Spot on there!!

Grin x 5000

sweetpea1112 · 27/02/2013 11:21

Has anyone heard of a link between epidurals and eczema? Sounds random but go with it for a second...

DP is one of 5 children, his Mum had an epidural with 4 of the 5. The one without the epidural is the one without eczema.

I have eczema and was born with an epidural.

Oscar was born with an epidural and he has very dry skin, possibly eczema. His cousin, born without epidural has perfect skin.

Obviously not a particularly scientific survey Wink but I find it interesting.

Oh, VQ for what its worth, O is ff and very very rarely sleeps more than 5 hours so not a great sleeper by any means.

Catbag · 27/02/2013 11:21

How can you tell if they have a tongue tie, detective? I think Saul has, but as it hasn't interfered with his feeding that much I didn't chase it up.
