That I do YW! Grin

There has to be some plus points to having an other half who only has part time hours. Coz the money isn't one!!

Contradictionincarnate · 26/02/2013 11:18

thanks Glenda that has given me an idea for dm could give her a makeover! ...but dh hates pampering massage etc etc ... he is a weirdo!

capedcrusader25 · 26/02/2013 11:19

pikz O does that - mostly she goes every two days but its a big one! Accompanied with a fair bit of red faced pushing Blush However the past few days she's started to go with no kind of straining at all pretty much every day. Not sure if her system is maturing?? Anyway they're all disgustingly massive and smelly :)

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 11:36

Yay. 4th feed. No vomits

Excellent. He smells like baby again. Not vomit!

I've had a good play with him while changing his nappy, all those things usually guarantee several vomiting episodes, but we had none. :)

misslaughalot · 26/02/2013 11:39

Ahem, I think the sleepy dust might have been blown my way last night. We spent 90 minutes disassembling and reassembling moved the cot into our room last night and babylaughalot slept from 10.50-4.20!! That's sleeping through right?! It's the first time in over 3 weeks that's she's done such a long stretch, woo hoo!

I'll send the sleepy dust onwards now Grin

blonderedhead · 26/02/2013 11:46

Glad O is staying vom-free Det. Sorry to those who had bad nights.

L did well last night, still woke at 12 and 2 but settled quickly, fed at 3 but only for 1/2 an hour then fast asleep till about 6am when he chattered on and off till nearly 7. Sounds crap when I write it down but after the last few weeks it was like sleeping through!

Finally heard from my mum, I'm going to pop round after yoga so hopefully things will smooth over.

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 11:47

I think we caught a little! If we ignore the 3.30 wakening to bunk in with mummy.

I tried putting him in his moses basket upstairs at 8 last night when he wanted to sleep. Nope, it was a nap. He was up after 30 minutes in time for tea! and didn't go back til his 10pm feed.

I wish he would just sort his own routine out. I'm quite happy to not implement a routine, and let him find his own. But he keeps finding one, and changing the sodding goalposts. I'm going to have to do it for him, aren't I? Damn!!

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 11:49

He's unlatched the velcro, and is sucking his hands happily on his changing mat. Where he has been for 30 minutes watching cbeebies.

I'm not running round cleaning today. Nope. It can wait! I am having a play day with Oscar, and am just chilling when he is happy!

Lovely. Might attempt a bath with him in a bit!

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 11:51

And a little nap this afternoon if he has his long nap! He often has 2-3 hours in the afternoon. .

Oh, the insomnia that I had in the first weeks has totally gone. Am so pleased. It must have been because I was worrying. Silly brain!

I haven't napped in the day for a long time for worrying that I won't sleep at night. I think I will tonight though Grin so I'm not worried!

YellowWellies · 26/02/2013 12:05

Detective we're the same here in the YW house - happy for him to set the routine but just wish he'd stick to one so we can start to get a bit of our evenings back. I'm desperate to go running on an evening but just can't predict if he's going to be velcroed to my boobs! I'd like to be able to get back to 2-3 runs a week to rebuild my fitness - the odd run here or there sporadically is pointless and much more painful.

I think we might have to implement a routine bedtime when we move to the new house with its thick stone (much more sound proof) walls and elderly (deaf, please) neighbours....Blush

Sometimes I think it is like a game of cat and mouse YW!

He's napping again now, after a play on his own, and some singing and playing from mummy. Put him to sleep at the first whinge, and he went easily. Phew!

DP made comments yesterday about how he doesn't whinge when he has him. Yes, that might be because I'm his mummy, and that is what they do to us! For days he hasn't wanted to be put down if I am near him! Today is the first time he has been content while I am around! I don't take offense, I'm seeing it as a compliment. So do one DP! Grin

I must give good entertainment, for that is what he wants when I hold him!

Yesterday I must admit to giving a rather loud shouting and not quite right version of the wheels on the bus as I drove home with him screaming! I think it went something like, the garage robs the car drivers of their dosh dosh dosh, dosh dosh dosh, dosh dosh dosh.... Blush

Can't think why I thought of those lyrics. Oh no. Grin

Contradictionincarnate · 26/02/2013 12:56

think I should delete the wonder weeks app states next leap could last weeks from 13-14wks eeekkk! does that coincide with sleep regression for others ...dd seems to be doing everything she can to remain an enigma!!

PetiteRaleuse · 26/02/2013 13:00

Poor LO isn't brilliant. Sleeping lots but very alert when she is awake. Not eating brilliantly. Should I try sneaking in some water to stop her getting dehydrated? The last couple of days pretty much all I wanted was cold water and cold coke (and I'm not giving her coke, though it would be an amusing AIBU).

I'm feeling mainly better but driving to nursery to pick up DD1 was awful - I was not alert enough to be a safe driver.

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 13:01

This is my email to Tommee Tippee, what do you think?

I visited your consumer site, as a parent, but I am also a Midwife.

I am contacting you because you are giving incorrect advice regarding the correct way to prepare infant formula.

Your website states:

'Health guidelines recommend you make up bottles one at a time. It may be easier to store the cooled, boiled water sealed in the bottles and then add the formula at feeding time.'

This goes directly against Department of Health Guidelines. A copy of which can be found here:

www.dh.gov.uk/health/2012/08/guide-to-bottle-feeding/

The correct advice is:

'To reduce the risk of infection, make up each feed as your
baby needs it, using boiled water at a temperature of 70 o
C or above. The step-by-step guide shows you how to do this.
Water at this temperature will kill any harmful bacteria that
may be present. Remember to let the feed cool before you
give it to your baby.'

This is followed up with the following information:

'Do not boil water in advance and store it in sterilised bottles
in the fridge for later use. The water needs to be hot when the
powdered infant formula is added, to kill any harmful bacteria
that may be present.'

Please can you explain why you are advising parents directly against the government guidelines for making up first stage formulas.
I would like to know where you found the information to display on your website.

There are some formulas which require preparing with cooled boiled water, but these are specialist milks, and the majority of parents and carers will not be using these milks.

The advice you are providing can and does make babies ill. I am very shocked that you would give such ill-informed advice.

I would appreciate a speedy response to my question.

PetiteRaleuse · 26/02/2013 13:02

I hate the wonder weeks app and deleted it when I realised that to cover itself it says that pretty much every week is potentially going to be a shit one and also I am not sure a week or so out on birth makes that much difference after the first couple of months.

TheDetective · 26/02/2013 13:02

PR I haven't felt alert enough to be a safe driver for, oooooh........ 13 weeks Grin.

Permanent state of tiredness!

Sending the germ removing fairies in your direction!

I went bra shopping and bought two luvverly nursing bras something I didn't believe existed. One is a grown up navy with white spots and white lace in a 32GG and the other is pink and white and frilly and, get this, a 32H! DH said that I had porn star boobs but that's ridiculous. Sooo glad I started the bra fitting thread now.

I have to be at the school in fifteen minutes but J is mid-feed. He is not going to like being unlatched and bunged in the pram the poor wee lamb. Still I bought him a stuffed bunny with lovely long soft ears today so that will cheer him up.

I keep meaning to ask the paediatrician why France Lux and Germany don't encourage ffers to follow the WHO guidelines. Here it's very much mix, shake, and heat if you fancy it. By here, I mean in this country, not in my homeTYVM.

We don't use tap water though- I use Evian there are just a few brands which are suitable, and Evian is the only one I liked the taste of.

Cacacaz · 26/02/2013 14:02

Super email Detective I'd be interested to see their reply.

*PR hopefully both you and LO will be feeling 100 per cent soon and you have had your fill of illness for at least the next year

M is currently asleep in his cot, which is surprising as, he usually only naps in his pram while I manically walk for miles. I'm seriously contemplating a snooze too. I have been at home waiting for the plumber to come only to be informed the wanker-- now isn't coming today and it will be next Tuesday. Not impressed at all.

I ordered curtains, rug, light shade, wall-stickers and canvas for M's bedroom. They arrived this morning. I am delighted with them Smile

Pikz · 26/02/2013 14:24

Stunt wa it bravissimo? I went there today. Now feel like I have boobs again!

ValiumQueen · 26/02/2013 14:29

I also need to wake DS for the school run. He is being GF'd today. He is being put down in the cot when Gina says so, and is falling asleep! After a little swearing at the teddies on the light show. It does not matter that the light show is pink.
