Anyone elses babies developed eczema? As I knew it would, O has. Bugger.

He also seems to have a lazy eye when trying to focus closer up. Long distance it seems fine.

Both these things noted over the weekend. Guess who will be doing the weekly doctors visit again!

Oh, and the vomiting is still as bad now the snot, mucous and cough have gone. So I think I am going to ask for further advice. He has the opposite symptoms to reflux. It is quite bizarre. So I am not sure how on earth it can be treated.

Basically, his only vomit free time is when he is lay flat in his moses basket. You hold him upright or sit him up, and you get vom. He isn't distressed by it. He doesn't have trapped wind, he brings any wind up easily. He has minimal wind really. But yet, he still brings up milk hours and hours after a feed. I can't find any information online as all I can ever find is about reflux, and it isn't like reflux apart from the fact it is vomit.

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 23:07

I can't find any info about the weakened spinchter horsey. Confused

MissMummy1 · 24/02/2013 23:07

Matilda has crap skin. Bad eczema - currently infected grr - and all manner of scary looking rashes. We have now been referred to a derma specialist. Will report back on Wednesday! In the meantime Aveeno and Dermol are your friends. Smile

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 23:07

Sphincter even!

BigPigLittlePig · 24/02/2013 23:13

detective I read somewhere that you can't diagnose a squint prior to 4 (poss 6 but I think 4) months as they haven't learnt to use their eyes in tandem properly. Not sure how old O is now? God only knows about the vom though, he is quite the wee medical mystery!

Need to go to bed now. Got the hv coming tomorrow so need to get up on time to tidy the shitpit that is my house Wishing good nights for one & all xx

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2013 23:17

Detective R slept really well until his jabs at 9 weeks. He has his next set tomorrow (at 14 weeks) so I'm hoping it gets no worse. He slept 6:30-10 and i came up with him. Awful gripe, I'm wondering if the coffee i had with a friend on Saturday was actually caffeinated?

Children's Services are apparently coming on Tuesday. I'm going to try and move the appointment as it clashes with bf group. We only received the letter on Friday so am assuming it's not too short notice. I assume this is the hv's attempt to help, but tbh i don't understand why it's Children's not Adults since it's dp who's meant to be ill! It's only really money we need to sort now anyway, as we have no income beyond ssp.

Brockle · 24/02/2013 23:21

not yet detective but both my big boys have excema so i cannot help thinking it is matter of time. try getting olatim bath additive on prescription it is great. we need sunlight. DS1 has bad excema but it cleared up when we went abroad for three weeks then back to misled as soon as we got home

Y self settled at 8pm after feeding/listening to the lion witch and the wardrobe when I was reading to DS1. unfort DS2 OS sprawled all over me with a fever. you can't win em all......

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 23:22

Have been using Oilatum since a couple of weeks, as his skin was always quite sensitive. But now found definite patches of eczema on his legs. Luckily it isn't red or sore, but it is definite eczema. DS1 has it pretty bad. It runs in my family. I don't really have it, although occasionally will find one small patch of it hiding on me somewhere. It doesn't bother though. Hopefully it will just be very mild for O.

His skin is very easily irritated though, if he has a hat on, he has bits of skin all over his forehead when you take the hat off from where it has rubbed off! Also, if you touch him, it leaves a red mark for a few minutes. His skin is very thin, you can see all his veins. Poor bugger!

BP I read that you should take them to the GP early if it hasn't corrected after birth, as treatment needs to be started sooner? MIL told me today that all the males in the family have had one. DP and I both do, his is corrected with glasses, and is always there. Mine is corrected with glasses, but it only comes up when I am tired. So O is highly likely to have one too.

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 23:23

Brockle I have the bath stuff too :) Been using that since using it on his skin.

I suppose it is working in that it isn't red or raised!

kirrinIsland · 24/02/2013 23:59

N has no excema yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. DD1's started at 6 months.

Someone (VQ?) tried giving up caffeine - did you notice any difference with sleep? I am at the clutching at straws stage now Grin booooooo indeed to backwards babies. She's just gone down in her pram, no chance of the cot, and it seems only DP can do it. With me she just keeps on screaming til I feed her - except she doesn't feed, she just latches on and goes straight back to sleep. Dummy is a no go.

Sophiathecheesefairy · 25/02/2013 01:06

Sitting in the rain at Holyhead Ferry Terminal!

No probs horsey Grin

MissMummy1 · 25/02/2013 04:33

Safe trip sophia ! This is our 5th or 6th feed of the night. I have lost track Sad

Pikz · 25/02/2013 04:34

Safe trip Sophia.

Feed 2 done.... Crossing fingers that's it til 8am.

Bryzoan · 25/02/2013 05:44

Have fun Sophia. Mm I am with you on ludicrous numbers of feeds tonight. My gorgeous little monkey is killing me. This month has been rubbish for sleep. From tomorrow night I'm getting tough. No milk from 11-3 (now watch me fold...)

kirrinIsland · 25/02/2013 06:47

Safetrip Sophia - have fun.

mm and bryzoan hope you get a decent stretch of sleep in somewhere.

I have done well with sleep - because DP took her! And she seems to have only woken once for him between midnight and now?! I'm not sure what the difference is but she seems to do that for him, but not me. I suspect it's the bottle - she takes a good feed, but with me she snacks. If only I could express more.

Contradictionincarnate · 25/02/2013 07:43

dd slept 10.30-7.30 I am sooo glad because it is always a lottery when you put her down she seems to only sleep through when you least expect ... I definitely have a cold all ready for our long weekend away Sad

Contradictionincarnate · 25/02/2013 07:48

my voice has almost completly gone! Sad
... I won't be able to sing to dd ... I did voice record two of the songs I made up incase I forgot the tune and wanted to sing them again and do have old radio shows of me on iPad I will have to play them and mime along!!! Grin

horseylady · 25/02/2013 08:06

It's what the gp told me det opposed to anything I read. My understanding was they are born with a weak sphincter. Reflux can cause it to weaken further and so giving gaviscon or whatever enables it to strengthen by making the milk thicker and so stopping the reflux occurring. There are different types of reflux and I guess they diagnose on how they respond to treatment. Worst case scenario is they need surgery.

Third jabs today here :( things like this are really starting to get to me more. I'm becoming a mum!!

fruitpastilles · 25/02/2013 08:06

Have a safe trip sophia
I think S has eczema detective I took her to the docs 2 weeks ago and she said it was just dry skin and to put double base cream on her twice a day, that's made no difference though, in fact it looks worse. My dad and bro both suffer quite badly with it and it looks like my brothers did when he was a baby. I'm takin her back to the docs this week. I've just bought some oilatum for the bath and some oilatum cream so fc that works.

applepieinthesky · 25/02/2013 08:40

What an awful nights sleep. I feel like a zombie. Will he ever sleep through? Sad I know people with 2 and nearly 3 year olds who still don't sleep through and have visions of that happening to me.

ChunkyChicken · 25/02/2013 08:41

Terrible night. Thankfully feeding DS seems to mean he sleeps well in between but we're at 3-3.5hrly feeds. I'm hoping this is the growth spurt part of the sleep regression!! However, DD is poorly so she called for me, I had had DS laying next to me feeding, so woke on transfer to the cot. Essentially from 12-5 we had 1 or both of them in our bed and I barely slept :(

Have read but brain melted so have nothing to add!!

Pikz · 25/02/2013 08:55

Apple I wonder that. Everyone else is like oh yes they slept through at 12 weeks. We are at 14 and no where near. He took 14oz overnight!

horseylady · 25/02/2013 09:10

yw I'm sure you already know this but the fluttering a could be to do with your dietary restrictions. They may get worse when you reintroduce them. So it's probably best not to go crazy with cheese fondue and bread straight away!!

TheDetective · 25/02/2013 09:11

Morning :) sst in garage waiting for the dreaded MOT. Is it wrong that I'm enjoying the peace and quiet to myself!!!! Bloody hell is this what my life has become!!

I can see my breath though, so that's a bit of a shitter. I also need the loo. Not so good!

DP did the night last night. He really is crap in the night. I'm beginning to think it is easier to do them all myself. We did a deal that anything before 3am I would do. Anything after was his. He woke at 3.30. Good boy!!! Then 6.30 and 7.30 but neither of those were for feeds Confused. Anyway DP got up with him at 7.30 but I know if he fed hi he would have gone back down but DP won't listen to me. Oh no. He got up and then fed him at 8. This means he will probably be cranky today because he hasn't had enough sleep. O that is. Possibly DP too!

We've gone backwards by an hour on feeds overnight each night for the last 3. Thought we were getting somewhere but nope!

Surrender to the finickity buggers!!

Sounds like crap nights for most!
