I will try that detective

Pass I out Olly on the comfort milk only really during the wonder rubbish weeks. I struggled so much week 8/9 he cut his feeds right down and was screaming with pain every feed time and had a terrible cold. I took him to the doctors mainly because I was concerned about the lack of milk and they said he was really colicky, but he only gets like this growth spurt weeks. We have reached week 15 and seem to be having the same pattern as the other growth spurt milestone, typically we are just packing up head off to ILs. Hmm

Although this time we are not staying there we are staying in a cottage at the beach! Not that I mind, SiL has moved home with all her stuff so no room.

Passmethecrisps · 23/02/2013 21:10

Sad for poor olly sophia

Sophiathecheesefairy · 23/02/2013 21:11

I. AM. NOT.HAVING.ANY. MORE. CHILDREN.

I won't be having any more sex if this bloody coil has anything to do with it. Sad

This is not the way I planned it. I planned, have number four, loose my weight, get my body confidence back and get my sex life back to when we were just having fun and not really thinking about conceiving all the time. Hmm

I wanted number four super quick after number 3, I wanted them really close I age. What I didn't want was a 2.3 gap as this is what I had between number 1 & 2 and it was really hard work. What did I end up with? Yep. A 2.3 year gap. Exactly the same. However number 3 is much easier toddler wise than number 1 was so hasn't been too bad, apart from the two in nappies and reluctance to potty train. The boys poo in tandem. Every time.

The gap between 2 and 3 was 3.8 years. This was absolutely fine, no probs at all.

kirrinIsland · 23/02/2013 21:18

Congrats on the new client MM

I'm happy with the age gap I have (22m) but if I go for a third I'll leave it a bit longer. n will have to be at least 2 before I even think about it. And I'd quite like a summer baby next time too.

Everyday, I say today is the day I stop eating everything in sight and do more exercise. And every day I fail. My pedometer is only serving to show me how little I do during a normal day. I knew that already but now I get to see it written down!

Apple and chunky he is pretty anti conventional medicine anything and saw the GP handing out antibiotics so quickly as a cop out. Normally I would agree, but they are visibly working and when she is so little I don't want to take any chances with it developing into anything nastier. This is the man who farmed his own maggots and planted them in his open appendicitus wound. Twat. Must add that was before I met him. I can cope with some of his weirdness, but other things I have put my foot down on, like peeing in the watering can Hmm and using vinegar in the washing machine (no washing powder, just vinegar). Both of his parents have commented on me taming his strange ways. I am all for alternate living, but there comes a point when you have to put your foot down and live in the real world, where Matilda is concerned my word is final and if our GP sees fit to put her on antibiotics then I will whole-heartedly support that.

Evilwater · 23/02/2013 21:24

Well I suck at making pancakes.
Dp has been out most of the day, I've come home to an empty house. Oh well. He's back now, gone socialising.
Evil

ValiumQueen · 23/02/2013 21:42

Vinegar is very good as a softener, but I would use powder too.

We are lucky having five (small) bedrooms. The kids each have a room and DH has a study. In the future we hope to foster so would use the study for the foster child. DS has nearly been put in the Wendy House on several occasions. Come to think of it, so has DH.

I too look forward to getting back my figure and enjoying a fun and care free sex life. It seems an unrealistic expectation for some time yet though.

GT I will have a lightly used PnT double available at the end of the summer if you are interested Grin I am very glad I got a double (ok two doubles) as even though DD2 likes to walk, sometimes it is necessary to have them both strapped in, and in the wind and snow she was more than happy to oblige. I have even had DD1 in the mountain buggy following a collision with a scooter on the school run. We had some funny looks, but there was plenty of room for a nearly 7yo.

I need to start planning DD2s 3rd Birthday Party for April. Apparently they get a bit of common sense at 3. Today I caught her drinking her juice with a mouthful of bobbles.

DS took another bottle tonight so I think we have cracked it. Had a long chat with DH about me wanting to swap to formula, but not wanting to either IYKWIM. He said we (we! Ha ha!) have worked so hard to get this far that we Hmm should continue to 6 months and review. Part of me really wants DS to refuse the boob, but he always goes back to it like a long lost friend. Which pleases me too.

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/02/2013 22:03

Haha vq you obviously haven't met my DD1. There is absolutely no reasoning with her. Although she's only 3.1 so you've given me hope that it might be easier in 4 months Grin

In all seriousness, I think this is a good age gap. DD1 is quite independent and able to entertain herself quite a bit and "help" me with E by fetching me stuff. She isn't jealous or resentful of E at all. Plus she goes to preschool 3 mornings a week (soon to be 4) which helps. I would like another but I really couldn't do a short age gap. We have enough room for another no matter what sex we have, especially if we move. But I can't really leave it too long as age isn't on my side. Think summer next year would be the earliest I'd want to start trying.

I'm going to check your thread out stunt.

FatimaLovesBread · 23/02/2013 22:16

Bloody hell M smells like a tarts handbag. She's had lots of cuddles from family so she smells like middle-aged woman perfume instead of nice baby smell Sad

BigPigLittlePig · 23/02/2013 22:24

Well meal out was a disaster.

F refused a bottle. Point blank. She smiled for about 5 minutes then began to scream. And scream and scream. MIL tried and failed to settle her, and ram a bottle down her throat which made her gag. So then SIL and FIL suggested I go to the toilet and feed her. Which I did Blush

BUT then I got some balls ladies. I could hear the collective voices of the November 2012 quiche shouting me out of the loo (particularly loud was mms voice) and back into the restaurant.

So I fed her, nigh on continuously, and ate one handed, and thought "sod you" to anyone who had a problem with that.

Back home now, smiley baby restored, looking like butter wouldn't melt. Little sod.

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 22:31

YAY BP!!! But booo for family suggesting that! And for the bottle refusing waster of ebm!

Been a crap evening here again. O wanted to sleep at 7.45. He was asleep by 8, back awake at 8.30 just as bloody tea was ready. We tag teamed tea again, and it has taken me til now to get him asleep. He just lay in my arms smiling, then going asleep, but then pinging eyes open a few seconds later. Over and over. Anyway. He's down for now. I am going to fester on the sofa for at least the next hour, as it is my first down time all bloody day! DP didn't even take over when he came home. :(

Elizadoesdolittle · 23/02/2013 22:43

Go bigpig I'm so glad you came out of the toilet. That's no place to feed a baby. Booo to littlepig wasting your hard worked ebm. I know exactly how that feels, not nice!

I put olive oil on E's hair before her bath to help the cradle cap. I didn't wash it off properly so she now looks greasy and it was infused with herbs so she smells a bit odd. Blush

So DH got home around 8pm last night and I've seen him for about a total of 2 hrs. Looking forward to having him around more, mainly to take DD1 off my hands a bit. I think a bit of a break from each other will do both of us good.

Just waiting for Jonathan Ross to finish then I'm off to bed. Hope you all have good nights.

glendathefedupwitch · 23/02/2013 23:07

Twatting mn app - 3 rd time of posting and it's gone - I give up!!

Cacacaz · 23/02/2013 23:16

I've gone from only wanting one. While I was pregnant I was adamant that I would never do it again. now I'm adamant I definitely want at least one more but not for at least another 2-3 years. I want to enjoy M for a few years before contemplating a sibling for him.

Detective some recipes for you

Tandoori chicken (weight watchers recipe) serves 4 with onion salad

8 skinless chicken drumsticks
2large garlic cloves
2 tbs fresh mint
2 tbs tandoori spice mix
1tsp ground turmeric
1/2 tsp chilli powder
Juice of a small lemon
6 tbs low fat yoghurt
Low fat cooking spray
Salt and pepper

Onion Salad

1 red onion
6 tomatoes (de-seeded and diced)
4 radishes
Cucumber
2 tbs lime juice

  1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 6/ 200c or 180c fan oven. Make 2 deep cuts on either side of each drumstick. Put garlic, half of the mint, spices, lemon juice and yoghurt into blender and make a purée. Transfer to a shallow dish, season, add the chicken and spoon over the marinade. Cover and leave to marinate for 1 hour.
  1. Spray a baking tray with the cooking spray and add the chicken. Cook in the oven for 10 minutes, then turn and spoon over some of the marinade. Cook for another 10 -15 minutes until the chicken is cooked and there is no trace of pink inside.
  1. Whilst the chicken is cooking, prepare the onion salad. Mix together the onion, tomatoes, radishes and cucumber. Squeeze the lime juice over, season and sprinkle with the remaining mint. Serve the salad with 2 drumsticks per person.

We usually have some spice sensation cous cous with this too or chick pea patties.

Spicy Chick Pea Patties (serves 4)

2 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp coriander seeds
2 x 400g chick peas drained and rinsed
4 spring onions, chopped
1 tbs chopped fresh red chilli
2 egg whites
Calorie controlled cooking spray

  1. Lightly crush the cumin and coriander seeds in a pestle and mortar. Place chick peas in a food processor or hand blender, and roughly blend. Add the seeds, spring onions chilli and egg whites and pulse a couple of times until blended. Divide the mixture into eight and shape into patties.
  1. Spray a non stick pan with the cooking spray and heat until hot. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally until golden. Take care when turning them as the are usually quite fragile. Serve 2 warm patties each.

Chinese 5 Spice Chicken (serves 4)

600g of skinless chicken breast, diced
450g of carrots, peeled and sliced thinly on the diagonal
300ml of chicken stock
1tbs cornflour
A bunch of spring onions, sliced finely on the diagonal

For the Marinade

1tbs Chinese five spice
1 tbs honey
2 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
2.5cm fresh root ginger, grated

  1. Place all the marinade ingredients in a small pan and heat gently, stirring. Place the chicken in a shallow bowl or tray and pour the marinade over. Cover with cling film and leave for a minimum of 30 minutes, preferably overnight.
  1. Heat a large non stick frying pan or wok, add the chicken, marinade and carrots and stir over a high heat for 5 minutes. Add the stock, bring to the Bol and boil rapidly for 5 minutes.
  1. Mix the cornflour to a paste with 1tbs of water. Stir into the frying pan or wok with the spring onions.
  1. Bring the sauce back to the boil, stirring until it becomes thick and glossy, then serve.

We eat this with egg noodles, would possibly be nice with rice too.

I will look out some more recipes and post as and when I get a chance.

Feeling quite proud of myself tonight. I hate the dentist, and have a deep rooted fear. I plucked up the courage to register and this morning had a long overdue 9years check-up. Turnout I needed 2 fillings and dentist offered to do them there and then. So that's exactly what I did. I'm so glad I don't have the opportunity to think about it, I would have ended up cancelling the appointmentgetting myself into a state.

Evil you have put me in the mood for pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup now. But that would ruin my diet.

Did someone mention there was a diet thread. Could you point me in the right direction. I've been going to weight watchers and so far have lost 15lbs in 6 weeks.

Cacacaz · 23/02/2013 23:23

Congratulations on the new client MM

Good for you bigpig I bet fil and sil wouldn't eat their dinner in the toilet, so why on earth people think a baby should have to is beyond me. Obviously it's a individual thing, though and depends if you are comfortable feeding in the loo.
I was forced into feeding M in public when he was only a week old the baby feeding/ changing room was occupied and he was screaming blue murder so went to the cafe in M&S and fed him. He was a week old at that point, and although I felt forced into it at the time, in hindsight it has helped me massively and I will now happily just feed M anywhere at anytime. Only today I was feeding him in a cafe and an older lady nosey old bag came over a congratulated me in not only breast feeding but doing it in public, she claimed it was lovely to see as not many people breast feed these days.

ChunkyChicken · 23/02/2013 23:48

Have just put 16oz of ebm in the freezer. I pumped whilst feeding twice, once first thing after DS had done his 11hr stint & once after I got in from my friends house. Can't believe my norks can do all that AND feed a baby!!

mm I can sort of see where he's coming from. Giving antibiotics too easily & frequently has caused us as a race huge probs. However, when it comes to an obvious issue in a baby, antibiotics are the only option surely!! Anyhow, you obviously know what to do, so I'll shut up now Grin

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 00:04

Thank you Cacacaz! Can you swap the drumsticks for breasts?! I'm not keen on anything other than boobs from chickens Grin. Fussy ex veggie here!!!

I'm going to give the tandoori chicken a go though! Might try it tomorrow. Dp currently asleep on me, so will get him to have a look! He likes cooking.... Hmm

Well done on the weight loss! That is fantastic! I'd like to lose that and 3 more stone so I need to keep making the small changes that I am making!

Eliza Sounds delightful! O never smells like a baby. He smells of frigging oilatum. It isn't the most kissy of smells!!!

O laughed at the strangest thing tonight. I was holding him stood on my lap, when DS1 put O's closed fist on my lips, so I made kissy noises on it, and DS1 put it behind O, on his bum and made a sizzling kind of noise. Well, we did it over and over because he kept giggling and giggling like it was the best thing ever! So DS1 tried holding him and doing it, and so did DP, but he would only laugh when it was me holding him and doing the kissy noise!! STRANGE CHILD!!

kirrinIsland · 24/02/2013 00:28

Grr. I've fallen for N's tricks again! I got all carried away after she fell asleep in her pram yesterday evening, thinking we'd turned a corner, and now we're back to sleeping on me or nothing. Pinned to the sofa again :(

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2013 00:42

2 1/2 hours for the first "long stint"

TheDetective · 24/02/2013 00:43

MM have you heard this song by Alt-J?

Heard it and thought of you!

This is from
This is from
This is from Matilda

Just like Johnny Flynn said, 'the breath I've taken and the one I must' to go on
Put the grenade pin in your hand, so you understand who's boss
My defeat sleeps top to toe with her success

Oh this is from
This is from
This is from Matilda

And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda

Just like Johnny Flynn said, 'the breath I've taken and the one I must' to go on
Put the grenade pin in your hand, so you understand who's boss
My defeat sleeps top to toe with her success

Oh this is from
This is from
This is from Matilda

And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda
Elle a besoin de toi
Cela vient de Matilda

And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda
And she needs you
This is for Matilda

This is for Matilda
This is from Matilda
Matilda
