It is all the comfort formulas that have a shortage so best to buy if you see it, or see Dr for something on px if needed for reflux. Or pay £100 on eBay for a tub.

pp not tots bots, but a sposie nappy in Tesco.

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 18:37

Horsey, taken from the UNICEF booklet on bottle feeding, 'Milks that say they are for babies over six months (sometimes known as follow-on milks)

Follow-on milks are described as suitable for babies from six
months of age. It is not necessary to move your baby on to
these milks.'

www.unicef.org.uk/Documents/Baby_Friendly/Leaflets/4/guide_infant_formula.pdf

And this one explains more. Baby Milk Action.

Sophia I tried the Boxtots nappies and I don't think they're as good as the normal Tesco ones plus you get so many in a box that the last 30 few were getting a bit tight, he really needed the next size by then.

I have exactly 3.5 years between DS1 and DS2 Detective although they're four years apart at school (DS2 is the oldest in his year). They can play together and like the same TV shows, films, etc. We take them to Ju Jitsu and swimming lessons together. Another advantage is that it's easy to tell their clothes apart when you're doing the washing!

I just started a thread in AIBU if anyone wants to join in.

Accidentally nodded off on the sofa for 4 hours with LO Blush
Going out for a meal tonight too.
Combine the above 2 things and I suspect there'll be minimal sleep tonight in the pig house.

I need to finish my training so next LO will be at least 2.5y away but that gap is fine with me between dc1 and 2.

detective Thanks for your broken fanjo
gt hope things start to improve for you soon
stunt off to check out AIBU...

fruitpastilles · 23/02/2013 18:54

I'd like to have my implant taken out when LO is 2 and start trying for dc2, just need to convince dp as he is under the impression we are only having 1 Hmm

ValiumQueen · 23/02/2013 18:58

3.5 is nice. I do not recommend 2.5. With 3.5, no need for double buggy, only one in nappies, elder one less psychotic, an iota of common sense, and can be reasoned with.

PurplePidjin · 23/02/2013 19:03

Boxtots, totsbots meh

R is 1st centile, 10lb3 at 3 months, and fitting 0-3 nicely. His Tesco grows are a bit short, Sainsbugs and Matalan fit lovely. I need to get some T 3-6s to tide him over, they seem to come up small so a good interim size :)

horseylady · 23/02/2013 19:06

Thank you!!! See I really do know nothing!!!t plan was to bf for as long as possible!!

GTbaby · 23/02/2013 19:14

Meds r ok det. But I'm tiered all the time. And I feel nauseous all day, although only sick in morning, fx, recently. Omg hunger strikes! Major hunger pang just hit. But I don't fancy anything.

Catbag · 23/02/2013 19:22

Bloody hell detective, that has got to be the worst double pushchair I have ever seen. And I am pretty sure that the first three or four cars I owned cost less than that pushchair. When put together!

Sophiathecheesefairy · 23/02/2013 19:28

Ooooooo have just had the hairy dieter jalfrezi. Shock I have a numb mouth. But it was bloody delicious! And truer to a jalfrezi actually than other recipes I have had.

Passmethecrisps · 23/02/2013 19:29

Evenin all.

The formula shortage is a bit concerning. I would reckon that a non-comfort version of the same brand of milk will be a suitable alternative maybe trying to have 3 bottles comfort and 3 without. If it is a medical condition which requires it perhaps Carobel added might work. That needs to be prescribed and is suitable for babies with reflux.

Still no sign of any IG in my neck of the woods so I am especially super grateful for kyzords. I do have a box of carobel to trial though. Too nervous at the moment.

The dietitian was also talking to me about follow on milks. P needs to move on to nutramigen 2 at 6 months as nutramigen 1 doesn't contain enough calcium. Dietitian explained that this is different to normal formula where there is no need to move on.

P was wearing a smashing wee frock today. Shame noone go to see it. I found it in her room and realised it was a 0-3 so thought I would pop her in it. At least I saw her in it. And I have told you all. Mind you, she still comfortably fits all her 0-3 stuff so she will get more wear out of it.

DH has been distracted by thoughts of holidays. He has booked us 10 days in Nice in October. It seems a long way away while at the same time being really soon. GT will have DC2!

Passmethecrisps · 23/02/2013 19:32

Oh! And I cannot imagine how anyone would feel being stuck under the pram bit of that Stokke. I love how it is described as having 'multiple configurations'. These appear to be: carry cot and seat hood up, carry cot hood up, seat hood down, carry cot hood down, seat hood up, no seat.

Passmethecrisps · 23/02/2013 19:33

Arse. Sorry - dietiCian. Hate that

PetiteRaleuse · 23/02/2013 19:50

Ate ice cream for dinner and have come back to bed :(

This morning was fine, now feel I have been hit by a truck.

MissMummy1 · 23/02/2013 19:51

I am in absolutely no hurry to have another. I never intended on having Matilda so young (tbh I never wanted kids but wouldn't be without her now she's here). At the same time I can't bring myself to get rid of any of her outgrown stuff yet. I want another puppy before I have another baby. My dog is 6 tomorrow! Maybe when M hits school age I'll be brave enough to contemplate another. Maybe. I'd also like to try and rectify some kind of career first too.

gardenpixie32 · 23/02/2013 20:01

I would love more. I am very broody lately and it scares me. Not the having more babies part but the lack of money part. Financially we just couldn't afford more children now :( I would love a dozen of them.

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 20:08

Thank you [bp]. Will have to get DP to massage it tonight! He seems to enjoy it. Hmm

PR you have as much luck in the germ department as I have in the car department! Sorry :(

horsey No reason why you would know, it isn't shouted from the rooftops! However the HV should let you know. They told me when DS1 was little, also at the time we were eligible for milk tokens, and you can't get follow on milk on those, only first milk. So that is how I knew originally.

Sophia We did cajun chicken and wedges from the hairy dieters last week. Blew my mind. And my bacon tasted like cajun bacon then next time I used the griddle pan for it! The spices lingered on everything!!

Stunt that is good to hear! Am quite hoping for another boy, as they might stand a chance of having similar interests, plus all the baby stuff is more suited to a boy. Although I do have a lot of unisex bits I guess! Plus O and the next one will have what is currently DS1's room. Obviously it makes sense for DS1 to go in O's boxroom, in his high sleeper, as he will need less space for toys. So if I had a girl, they would be in with O in the bigger bedroom, and eventually need their own space. Where as DS1 will also need his own space for however long he remains here! And who knows in this day and age! We are stuck in this house I would say for a minimum of another 10 years.

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 20:13

Garden, the only way we can afford another is by DP continuing to work part time. It wouldn't make any sense for him to work FT in his job.

Childcare is a fucker.

I don't think I have noticed much difference in money actually having another child, especially if you hand stuff down, but childcare is the biggest thing isn't it?

gardenpixie32 · 23/02/2013 20:19

Detective childcare isn't the problem for us thankfully, I would continue to childmind and keep them at home with me. For us the problem is the size of our house, it is a 3 bedroom but one of them is tiny and I use it as my office. If we had a boy it would be a problem as they got older as he couldn't share with the girls. We cant afford to move either.

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 20:20

VQ Those are among my reasons! I don't want 2 in nappies, and the hassle of a double buggy. I want O to be reasonably independent in that he can entertain himself. Plus it gives us around 4 months at home with new baby/O, then O goes to nursery while I am off work, so I get time with new baby alone once I have got to grips with juggling 2 small ones! And I don't have to do the school run with a tiny one, so I can hopefully get breastfeeding established without worry! As DS1 will not need me in the morning in the same way! He will be walking to and from school, and will be 14!

And then when I go back to work, I won't have to pay for 2 lots of childcare, as O will have his 15 hours. And then will be at school a few months later.

And I want an early summer baby, 9 months off, and want christmas off!!! But not with a tiny baby again!

Best laid plans and all that... I planned O for September... d'oh!

TheDetective · 23/02/2013 20:22

Yes I have the tiny bedroom problem too! I'm fortunate in a way that DS1 can eventually go in the 2m x 2m box room, as he can go in a high sleeper. Not sure where his clothes are going to go but, he can have his computer under the bed, and some storage under there, shelves on the wall around his bed for books/cds/games/dvds, and then his TV most probably will need to go on a wall bracket as he will have to watch from his bed. Will figure it all out in a year or 2 when O outgrows his room!

madam feel exactly the same re; 3rd dc.

mm I second Apple I think in asking, but not politely, wtf he has against treating an infection with antibiotics?

Age gap depends on the dc I think. My DD has done well with the new brother, but my hands have not, with the multiple nappy changes, & equally purse has suffered given the 'just in case' tandem and buggy board purchases. DD would also be at nursery come DS's 1st birthday, so waiting a year might have been harder getting up every morning. There will actually be 3 school yrs difference too due to their DOBs. Happy with the gap now. Couldn't have gone much closer, as only had my appendicitus 2yrs ago & my op for it last October, so started TTC less than 3mths later. But couldn't have left it any later given my broodiness. :)

detective sorry to hear about your fanjo. Perhaps your PF is getting cramp/going into spasm (like vaginitis)? Perhaps do fewer twitches in 1 go, or would the physio prescribe the kegel apparatus? Perhaps it would help to have something to work against iyswim? I hate doing the PF exercises. It feels weird but a necessary evil obviously. Have you tried the triple lift? Imagine a lift is going up. So tense the muscles for 3s, then lift to the first floor for 3s, then to the second floor for 3s & then reverse. Does that make sense?

applepieinthesky · 23/02/2013 20:40

We only have two bedrooms. If we had a bigger house we have agreed we would have three children but we can't afford a bigger house in this area. If it becomes really important further down the line we could move to a less nice area with three bedrooms but I'm not willing to compromise on that at the moment.

Luckily both bedrooms are a really good size. We are in the smallest which is still big enough for a king size bed, cot and wardrobes. DS is in the biggest room. He has a cotbed, travel cot, changing unit, two chest of drawers, a wardrobe and still has plenty of space. Two children sharing wouldn't be a problem but I wouldn't have three while we still live here. Though the couple that lived here before us managed it with three and my cousin has three in a two bed but it must be so chaotic.
