Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
janey223 · 03/04/2013 14:01

Love the bjcm it's not that wide! There's a tandem that faces forward one way and pf the other I seen ages ago that looked good, no squished can't see babies

Xiaoxiong · 03/04/2013 14:29

Queen with DS in January they gave him IV fluids when I insisted he hadn't had a wet nappy in 24 hours, was floppy and lethargic and was refusing even breastmilk. They tried to make me go home and give him more fluids and after round 3 of this I just snapped and said "what the hell do you think we've been doing for the last few days!??"

Do you still have open access to the paediatric ward at the hospital? Can you go straight there and bypass GP?

QueenofClean · 03/04/2013 17:52

Thanks ladies. She has drunk a couple of cupfuls of apple juice this afternoon and a lot more lively so will see what happens in next 24hrs x

Xiaoxiong · 03/04/2013 17:58

Good luck Queen and get well soon ((cuddles)) for little Sky, for drinking her apple juice Grin

janey223 · 03/04/2013 18:32

DM has lovely new shoes at a bargain £16! Makes me want to live up here then I remember everything is cheape because its cold and wet.

He decided he'd only have a 40 minute nap so he's asleep now but I bet he won't stay that way

AnAirOfHope · 03/04/2013 18:38

Help im worried about Hopes teeth.

I have just noticed she has all four first molars thru so two on top and two on bottom but the pointy teeth (k9s) are not thru yet.

Should i be worried or take her to dentist?

Im sure with Air all the front teeth came thru before the molars!

mopsytop · 03/04/2013 19:00

Air, Minimopsy is the same so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

iZombie · 03/04/2013 19:20

Octoboy only has three teeth in total. They come as and when. The Goddess got her teeth in random order but at the grand old age of ten they're all fine:)

I am in pain today. I am on day three of a headache that is slowly turning my brain to mush.

I am hoping for some more sleep tonight. Octoboy is going longer and longer between shouting sessions at night:)

AnAirOfHope · 03/04/2013 20:25

Thank you i will stop panicing now Blush

OiMissus · 03/04/2013 21:14

Air, BOi has the front 8 teeth (4 top, 4 bottom) and one molar bottom left, and the bottom right one is almost there. No canines here either. ( but I heard somewhere - in here? - that that was normal, so it's what I've been expecting).
Janey - I love the idea that shops sell stuff cheaper ooop north to compensate us for the cold, damp weather!

OiMissus · 03/04/2013 21:17

I zombie - hope your headache clears up - very happy to hear that octoboy is sleeping a bit better. X
Queen - glad to hear that sky is taking in some liquids. What a relief! Also, hope that Darcie had a lovely birthday.
And Gary I will simply not believe you. There are no other little ones called Alistair. Just my boy. And I was saving it for any of my thread friends also. There are no others. Fact. Wink

OiMissus · 03/04/2013 21:21

And happy birthday seven!
And love and hugs to all you others who I have not mentioned! And your babies-to-be and speaking babies!
Just watching OBEM and enjoying some tears. Grin

GaryBuseysTeeth · 03/04/2013 21:24

Noticed today that DS has all his top teeth through, although it was front four & then the molars Air.

I've had a shit mememe day; put DS to bed at 6pm because we were both very tired, and he didn't fall asleep until 8.
I hate feeling fat, because I can't work out very well atm I feel like such a waste of space. Sorry for the mememe post, just feeling MEH!

Zombie, glad Octoboy is getting bored of shouting sessions, hope the headache gets better soon!
Are you drinking enough water young lady?

Janey, oooh £16 Clark shoes sounds great!

Fingers & toes crossed for DD2 being back to herself after apple juice Queenie.

Happy Birthday seven!!

Xiao, 2nd DC's are harder to name! I've decided I love the name Adam, but you really can't call a 2nd boy that...grrh. Morwenna is a lovely name, used to know one & she didn't have any horrible name related nicknames.
I think seven was settled on Beatrice? Beatrice Ann maybe? But I read so many bloody baby name threads that it's probably wrong & they're calling her Fred Grin

Raindance is hopping/stomping around the armchair, holding a potato masher aloft and shouting 'VAAAHH!' (think he's trying to shout 'Khan' a la Capt Kirk) occasionally laughing.
He's learnt how to turn on the washing machine today, joy of joys.

Long ol' post, apologies.

NorthernChinchilla · 03/04/2013 21:57

Happy Birthday seven

We've got all the teeth through, bar the canines which I noticed at the weekend were poking through...everyone comments on the amount of teeth he has! No proper achievements like bundabee, like, but lots of teeth Grin
He does dance as well, I put the music channels on and he bobs up and down, it's brilliant!

DS was a total WhingeBob WhinePants tonight, DP and I were glad to get him off to bed. No idea if there was a reason, but gave him the Purple Juice of Wellness just in case.

Glad Sky seems to better Queenie, that's great news.

I can't believe it's the last OBEM Oi, that's been my Saturday morning treat for weeks. I made myself watch the last one which had me sobbing my heart out, poor family. Every parent's worst nightmare. And I like the idea of things being cheaper to compensate for the crap weather too, Bob knows we need it.

Hope you perk up soon GBT, nothing wrong with a bit of mememe, especially when you're pregnant

Figgygal · 03/04/2013 21:57

DS is only missing 2 bottom teeth now and not sure about his top ones I never get a very good look up there Grin

Janey where do u live? I was in Glastonbury the other day drove past clarks village.

Have started watching lord of rings return of king on film 4 must switch it off or I'll be here until midnight.

DS seems to have settled in to clock change finally been easy to bed last 2 nights sadly he had some rabbit dropping style poo before bed so it's prune and weetabix in morning.

I have names for my next dc completely hypothetical obviously as dh still not on board. If another boy will be Robert, shortened to Robbie like Danny who hasn't been called Daniel since he was about 3 days old, and if a girl I love Alice Elizabeth. Had a reckless session with dh at the weekend where protection wasn't used so you never know Wink

Da has now added moo to his cacophony of animal noises including monkey, tiger, lion, duck and obviously pig after his fave peppa.....I think he'll bark like a dog before he talks properly Grin

FIL is having his hip replaced tomorrow so DS now going to cm 4 days a week until PIL can have him again on Thursday's, DS job going down pan so needs to work at recovering it so can't have him on his own every Thursday cm has said she will take him on a weekly arrangement as long as no-one wants the space. He will love it but dh is sad to be losing his day with him

iZombie · 03/04/2013 22:19

Octoboy doesn't really have any mad skills. He'd make quite a good metronome. He rocks side to side in time with most music. He kept up with the wind and brass bands at the Goddess' concerts last term:o

Northern I need a new phone, the autocorrect on this Samsung isn't up to standard:o

OiMissus · 04/04/2013 08:23

he he he! Autocorrect - did you see the post from Easily on facebook? She wrote "Child labour. the number one reason for having a bang." with a pic of caspar doing the housework.
She meant baby. But it's one of the best autocorrects I've seen in ages!
Boi can dance. :) He is also very keen on learning to jump. He gets the motion right. He bends his knees and launches himself skywards, and get's up onto his toes - but he doesn't leave the floor yet, and quite often just flings himself backwards onto his bum. He has learnt from this though, and if he's really going to go for it, he moves onto the thick rug, rather than on the wooden floor. Grin

Xiaoxiong · 04/04/2013 10:09

Oi have you considered that in fact Boi might be streets ahead of you and practicing breakdancing?! DS does the pigeon bobbing to music but nothing so strenuous Smile Also if you haven't seen the thread over in chat about the slowcooked porn in the cockpot it's definitely the best autocorrect I've seen, would give easily a run for her money Grin

DH's childhood piano was delivered yesterday and apparently he is being driven to distraction, every time he tries to play something DS bangs on the keys so he is reduced to playing "three blind mice". And now of course whenever he's within 10 feet of the piano DS shrieks "MAOOOS mahooooossss" wanting it played again so he can bob-dance.

figgy hope DH's job works out and he and DS get their day together back soon and FIL's operation goes smoothly. And I look forward to your live POAS posts soon Wink

northern I am stealing "purple juice of wellness" although it's white in this house (cheapskate supermarket own-brand...)

Ok names. I think Adam would totally work for a younger DS! I know an Adam who is the youngest of 4. Beatrice is great too. And actually I love names like Roberta for a girl that can be shortened to Bobby (echoes of the Railway Children...?) Karenza and Olwen still on our girl's list along with Morwenna and maybe Seren. Boy's names are harder - ones we kicked around last time include Breoc, Jago, Ennor and Ryol. DH loves Petroc, Caradoc, Demelza and Lamorna but I vetoed all. We're off to Cornwall tonight to see MIL this weekend so we'll have 5 hours to talk about it in the car Grin I will drop Honey a line and see if she wants to meet for coffee too.

I'm going to post in the nappies section as well but if anyone has any opinions on reusables please feel free to weigh in: we currently have 10 Bumgenius v4s for use during the day and 12 Motherease one-size for use at night. When DS was a newborn we had 12 bambini size 1s which we used instead of the Motherease but he grew out of those within about 3 months and I passed them on to his cousin in Kenya (same age but much smaller so has got a lot more use out of them).

Now we're expecting DC2, I guess we need to get some more as I guess there will be an overlap of at least 8 months where they'll both be in nappies...? When does potty training usually start? Also since we're both pretty sure this is it in terms of kids for us, is it worth renting a set of newborn size nappies instead of buying (it's only £45 to rent 20 newborn sized bimbles plus 5 wraps for 3 months from Nappy Lady)...has anyone done this?

QueenofClean · 04/04/2013 11:00

Will catch up properly later but for the first time in a week Sky woke up with a wet nappy - yay! She seems better today Grin

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2013 12:32

Happy birthday seven.

Glad sky is getting better.

Glad octoboy is sleeping longer.

Yy to baby name chatting Blush

Get well soon izombie

Im eating a bacon butty, holding a sleeping Hope and watching Iceage 2 with Air so he is quait and lets Hope sleep.

AnAirOfHope · 04/04/2013 12:39

I like Wren, Elena, Rowan and Maria for a girl and Calib, Rowan, Robbie, Noah, Shay/Cha for a boy.

Xiaoxiong · 04/04/2013 12:42

Yay Sky, good work!! So pleased she seems better. Just got a text from DH that DS is coughing like a Dickensian orphan, no surprise as we are all sick with the same sore throat and runny nose that's seems to be sweeping the nation. My train this morning sounded like a Victorian consumptive ward.

I love Rowan and also Linnet for a girl!

iZombie · 04/04/2013 13:33

Serendipity is a good name, shortens to Wren:o

Boo to lurgies.

I am sat giggling at And now of course whenever he's within 10 feet of the piano DS shrieks "MAOOOS mahooooossss" wanting it played again so he can bob-dance to the extent that Octoboy is peering over the gate wondering if I'm watching something on the PC:o

EasilyBored · 04/04/2013 15:59

Hello all! Can't believe it's already time to talk names, you're all much braver than me, the thought of DS and a newborn makes me come over a bit lightheaded and queasy!

Glad Sky is feeling better Queen, hope she continues to improve.

Xiao same on my commute, hope the coughing clears up!

Oi you need to post a video of BOi's groovy mooves! Glad I made you laugh, I swear my phone has a mind of it's own at times. Autocorrect changes things and I'm like 'really phone? You got that from that? Have you been smoking crack again?'

Figgy clever Danny with his animal noises!

We seem to have had a rubbish couple of weeks; we went up to Scotland to visit husband's family which was nice, and C was a star in the car both ways, but hates sleeping in the travel cot so ended up in bed with us a lot. Co-sleeping is not for us. He likes to sleep either on my chest (cause I don't, you know, need to breath or anything) or sideways across the bed with his farty arse right in my face. So we were all shattered after that trip. Then C started throwing the most epic meltdowns at bedtime and doing that squirmy, screaming thing where they flail in your arms and seem to bend in ways that defy the laws of physics. So we brought bedtime forward, which seems to help about 50% of the time. Then we had the long weekend and he was just miserable and overtired all weekend. Took a trip to Tatton Park (lovely) and he quite liked the farm and all the animals, even if he did point at all of them (sheep, pigs, goats, horses, dogs) and say 'CAT!' Later on though he took off running and tripped, going face first into the path. Much blood and some tears were shed (some of them my husband's. Ahem.) Then two days later he tries to do a handstand off a toy motorbike at nursery and gives himself a black eye. He did amuse my friend in the car when I asked him if he had hurt his head by slapping himself in the forehead and going 'ooomph!' and repeating it every time anyone asked if he had fallen over or hurt his head.

For the past week he's also been waking up loads at night and screaming blue murder when we try and get him down again. I noticed he was a bit warm yesterday and had some sticky stuff leaking from his ear, took him to the Dr and he's got a raging ear infection, and probably didn't want to lie down as the pressure was hurting him. Cue me and husband feeling like shite for getting so frustrated with him for not sleeping. He's on some ear spray now, and slept through last night after being dosed with calpol and ibuprofen, so fingers crossed we're over the hump of that.

In other, more cheerful news, he's had a bit of a language explosion. Cat, nana (for all food), rah-rah for the broom (which he adores and carried round the house all day), daddy for dad and dadda for me, uh-oh and oopses for when he chucks stuff, ssssoooocks and shuuuuzzz are the newest ones. He can also point to his nose, head and if you ask him where his socks are he either points to his feet or goes and gets some from his bedroom.

Oi C is also trying to jump, but mostly seems to launch himself backwards. He does a rather interesting Beyonce style bum thrust when he's dancing too! We need to get together soon!

iZombie · 04/04/2013 17:16

Octoboy does the bump and grind. Eldest was tromparping at a concert a few weeks ago and he was giving it proper pole dancing action using the back of the chair in front of him. I was mortified. Everyone else thought it was hystericalBlush
