I've hired someone to get all our babies to sleep while we go get sloshed in the corner

Anyone around...?! Grin

How glorious is this sun! Hope all the babies are managing to sleep. Our house is north facing so S room gets the sun in the morning so thankfully isn't so hot at night if the window has been open all day, but in saying that its still been 26 degrees at bed time Shock. I took the side off her cot at the weekend. No idea why as I was planning to keep as a cot till after Christmas! I'm not buying a bed till after her birthday though so I figured I'd try this and if it didn't work, I could just put it back on. She's been going down same as usual. I say with her the first night as I was thinking that she would be up and down but I think she had forgot she could get out!! She did wake up twice and came running through to my room but I just took her back through and she went back to sleep. All in, a success! I was also planning to go straight to a single bed, but after measuring up her room there is no way it would fit with the rest if her furniture so will just go for a toddler bed until we move (hopefully before she starts school!)

strawberrypenguin · 12/07/2013 09:14

That was brave duck yay S for good sleeping. I honk W would fall out if we took his cot side off he still regularly rolls into them at night.

Had to get him new shoes (again!) this week his feet are 5.5 can't believe how fast they grow! We got red shoes and he keeps looking at them saying 'nice' and wouldn't take them off for nap at nursery yesterday! He's growing at the moment I think his tops are getting tight over his head.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 12/07/2013 09:29

Strawberry - I've got a bed rail at the side though, there is just enough space to let her climb out.

Grin At the shoes! I remember my cousin doing that when she was younger. She got new shoes that were all glittery and she wouldn't take them off. Went to bed that night holding them!

PenelopeLane · 13/07/2013 09:27

I'm wondering about when to put A in a bed at present - not sure how to time it with new baby coming in Oct, and knowing we'll probably need to cot for her by Jan! He's pretty happy in his cot though at present for now

Strawb that's so cute re the shoes.

ipswichwitch · 13/07/2013 18:20

Evening all. Thank god it's got a bit cooler here, I'm seriously struggling with the heat at the min. We've had our hol, a week in a cottage near my family an N has 6 back teeth coming in together so spent the week screaming :( he had paracetamol, brufen, gum stuff an was still just so unhappy, poor little boy. Second week we spent at home and since he was better we took him to farms and the aquarium which he loved. He thinks sheep are hilarious and likes to baa at them! He's amazed when they baa back :)

I'm 18 weeks now and massive already. We'll have to get a shift on clearing the spare room - N will move in there so we can decorate it to suit him and new baby gets his old room. Not sure wether to move him before or after baby arrives.

Just been and bought him a few new toys as he's had nothing since Christmas really and he's out grown loads. He's now happily playing with the new garage and dancing to the musical cars! He's got some moves I can tell you!

TallyBear · 15/07/2013 21:40

Well done Duckling Seb's the same as W, he's all over the place still and would definitely be falling out all over the place. He was in our bed last night as he was so hot is his room (28oC) he got hysterical. He ended up downing 3 cups of water and then wriggled all night! He's so cute asleep I could look at him all night Blush.

Straw love the new shoes story.

Ips Aww at the sheep. We need to take Seb to a farm. There's no excuse, we live so close to the countryside.

strawberrypenguin · 17/07/2013 16:53

A me post this one so feel free to ignore just feeling a bit sorry for myself as I've just turned down a really interesting job as they wouldn't budge on the starting salary and I couldn't afford to take it HmmArse

TallyBear · 17/07/2013 20:25

Straw that sucks.

PenelopeLane · 17/07/2013 21:28

Strawberry that's hard Sad

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/07/2013 20:03

Aw strawberry, that's rubbish :(

MrsHende · 18/07/2013 21:32

Ach strawberry, I'm sorry to hear that.

strawberrypenguin · 18/07/2013 21:54

Thanks everyone guess I just have to keep on looking!

How's everyone coping with the heat? W has developed hay fever this week we think - gunky eyes and a dry cough sometimes same as I get with it. Piriton and eye drops helping but the poor thing needs his eyes unsticking in the morning.

We're off on holiday with my parents tomorrow not looking forward to the car trip in his heat!

MrsHende · 18/07/2013 22:16

How long are you driving for strawbs?

We got a Cybex car seat for L and it's brilliant but my word she looks hot in it! Obviously not normally a problem in damp Glasgow but the past week we've had a few long drives and I've felt so sorry for the wee sweaty soul! Lots of stops and cold drinks in order!

strawberrypenguin · 18/07/2013 23:41

Not massively long MrsH about 2 1/2 - 3hrs if traffic is ok and DH's car does have decent air con (unlike mine!) planning one stop possibly two if we need it we're going Dartmoor way. Planning to tire W out before setting off so with a bit of luck he'll sleep for most of the first half of the trip

PenelopeLane · 20/07/2013 19:46

Strawb How's W's eyes? A had that in summer too, although wondered if it was allergic conjunctivitis as well. How was the trip?

How are the rest of you? I am up far too early, as of course the first time in ages A wakes up before 6 is the morning after I go out late for the first time in ages. Thank God for the Wiggles

Engels and I had the MN Wellington meet up yesterday, was lovely to put a face to a name and to meet M as well. The two boys eyed each other up a little, although A didn't really talk to M until we were already gone though and started saying "bye M" as we walked away. Shame the weather wasn't great, I am very envious of all the posts about heat!

I'm in 3rd trimester now and feeling fine although officially starting to feel really scabby, terrible skin and crazy hair etc. Doesn't help that A has started pointing at my pimples (I always have terrible skin in pregnancy) and saying "mum pimple! mum pimple! I tell him to wait till he's 14.

One more month of work and counting down the days!

My sister is a Dr and working in a birthing ward at the moment working on c-sections and birth interventions etc, as well as resuscitating babies. She's pretty good at not telling me horror stories but I keep asking for reasons I don't even understand.

ArtemisiaofCaria · 20/07/2013 23:16

Hi all - it's Scheh with C. Just checking in to say hi. We're thinking of ttc but need to discuss it with medics after the chaos that happened after C's birth - maybe if we're more prepared this time we can stop it happening again. Big decisions to make though - last time I wouldn't take meds as wanted to BF, so do I try BF again, or go straight to formula and back onto the meds. Don't think I could do that, bf means too much to me.

We keep saying maybe we should leave it longer, but then I guess we'd still have the meds/bf issue. Is it better to wait till C is older? I kind of want to 'get it out the way' so I can get back to work sooner, otherwise I'm just delaying it still.

Oh, we've just got married, and bought a house, moving in next Friday. So timing is right in that way I guess.

Artemis congrats on the marriage and house! And TTC is a hard question as well. I made a list which helped me decide that looked at short term and long term consequences of each decision I guess, but that was just me as I like lists!

HOO7 Sorry I just don't think I have the emotional energy to sign up to something like that

H007 · 22/07/2013 10:09

PenelopeLane no problem whatsoever totally understand. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond though :-) all the best!

strawberrypenguin · 22/07/2013 14:46

pen Piriton is helping with W's eyes so I'm pretty sure it's hayfever. The journey was a nightmare! We got stuck in every traffic jam going it took us 6hours!

Congrats Artimis re your ttc question we've decided to wait a little longer we want W to be at least 3 so he gets some free nursery time at least which we couldn't afford with me on mat leave. Still not sure if we will have a second but in delaying he decision for practical reasons it takes the pressure off a bit!

TallyBear · 22/07/2013 18:40

Artimis Congrats. So wonder you've not been on here much - you've been busy! Grin.

Well it's started...just walked into the lounge and Seb is sat on the sofa watching tv. He managed to reach the remote and turn the tv on! Apparently he's turned in a right monster at the childminders; he keeps pushing the other kids over (well not over, as he's the littlest but ykwim). Is it the terrible two's starting early.

Seb's slept through 1 night in the last week, it's either the heat, or a development stage or both. I'm cream-crackered. He ends in with us and he's such a fidget-bum.

CheshireDing · 22/07/2013 20:08

Aww glad you got to meet up Pene with Engels. Can't believe you are finishing so soon. I have AGES. I think I will put a bump picture on fb so you and Ips can tell me if yours are bigger - mine feels huge bugt the mw keeps saying it's normal size (whatever)! Grin

Tally P got in trouble at nursery the other week for snatching and she still hits me quite a bit, we have been working on it and doing time out and "say sorry Mummy" and a kiss, that def seems to help a bit.

I still can't get P to watch any TV, I tried horse racing the other day, she just turned the freeview box off instead.

Sassy are you all settled in now?

Strawbs that sounds like a stingy journey and sorry about the job :(

Climbing you still here?

Sorry missed out on loads of stuff, how everyone is not melting.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 23/07/2013 22:28

I'm curious, what did H007 message say..? nosey bugger

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 24/07/2013 09:33

Had our first poo in the bath experience today.. Shock

PenelopeLane · 25/07/2013 09:06

Oh no poo in bath! We've only had it once, when he was a baby. Kinda funny actually as DH was in there too Grin

Hoo7 had a request for people to participate in a study of some sort to do with babies - it sounded kinda interesting but time consuming, and I feel stretched enough as it is at present hence why I said no. Am 30 weeks today and starting to feel myself slowing down mentally and physically.

Cheshire If you put up a bump pic I will too as need motivation to take one!

Tally if it makes you feel better re Seb and the childminders, the other week I saw A try and push a girl down the stairs at creche, and then he sat on her head! [Shock]

It's been a tough and weird week here on account of lots of earthquakes - not massive massive ones, but big enough. Engles if you're checking MN I assume you left Wellington just in time?

We had a few medium sized ones over the weekend, but quite a big one early Sunday evening, a 6.5. No-one was properly hurt, but it was really unsettling - at my house the power went off half way through and stayed off for about an hour, during which time there were near constant aftershocks, and I was trying so hard to be calm for A (who wasn't impressed by the dark) I think I ended up acting a tad manic! The whole CBD was then closed on Monday - including work - and on Tues went to work to learn that there was a lot of damage there as it's on reclaimed land and that a lot of stuff fell over (including bookcases) and my desk got messed up, and some massive cracks have appeared in the stairwells and on the walls. They say it's safe, but doesn't feel it!

There's been at least one decent one a day since, and today I even got stuck in the lift at work during one. Everyone is acting skittish and nervy, I went to the supermarket on Monday and it was fill of people stocking their trollies with tinned food and water 'just in case'. Ug. It feels a little silly to be as on edge as I am, but it's really unpleasant. Boo earthquakes!

Sorry about the me me post Blush
