Hales - how's your DN? I'm also keeping my fx that H is ok, and think Seymore is right about transferred immumity.

Mama - hope C is a bit happier today.

Had a really good night - 11 to 4, quick feed then back to sleep until 8. Think we might have turned the corner now, though probably just jinxed it by saying that.

Taking N on his first trip to Liverpool today - thought it was about time seeing as he's technically half scouse Grin. Also they've got the ship from the film 'Pirates' in the museum atm, which DS1 will love as well as all the usual dinosaur/space bits.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2013 09:21

Oh ISpy you're so lucky to live close to places like that! Hope you have a lovely day Smile

We're making another carrot cake and jelly today. I will also do some washing and cleaning bit of a lazy day really

DH loves museums, I can see every weekend being spent in a museum when F is older.

Definitely have a poorly boy this morning, he's coughing and got a runny nose :( gave him calpol but he's so clingy and wingy I don't know if it's making him feel better.

Got my family coming on mass with in the hour, house is pretty grim but they will have to deal with it!!!

PurplePidjin · 15/02/2013 12:56

Michelle, i put a couple of drops of teatree on the nose of a cuddly toy and kept it nearby, seemed to help R who got over it far quicker than i did lucky sod i also put a wet towel on the bedroom radiator to make some humidity, and a towel (dry!) under the head end of his crib mattress :)

Secondsop · 15/02/2013 14:44

Hello. So last night was the first night of me (a) trying a dream (bottle) feed at about 1.30am and (b) leaving Z to sleep, and he slept til 8am! He also didnt spit up hardly any of the dream feed (he'd been asleep watching tv with me since about 9pm so I was a bit loathe to try to feed him at all but it worked well).

I didn't give him infacol for the dream feed (because that would have completely woken him up like nothing else - he hates being given it) and I didn't give him any for the 8am feed as he was still quite sleepy and he'd had a good non pukey night. And he has been distinctly less pukey. So i tried no infacol at his midday feed and he had a couple of spit ups but mainly after i lay him down to dry him after his bath, and nothing like the big streams of vomit we got before that left him really wet. Has anyone heard anything about infacol making reflux worse? I only got it because the doctor suggested it FOR the reflux!

halesball · 15/02/2013 15:25

Ispy my DN has got more of a rash but is still playing with my nan and grandad and is easily distractable when she starts to get upset. Hope you have a nice day in liverpool i live 10 minutes away from there. I absolutely love the city.

MaMaPo · 15/02/2013 17:13

Seconds - that's an amazing sleep. We stopped infacol ages ago with no change in little C.

ISpy, C much better today, thanks! We had a cultural day too - went to the Tate Modern with a friend, then had a glass of wine, then wandered around Borough Market. A lovely day out, so sunny. Now going home on the peak hour bus!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2013 17:29

So Envy of those who live in cities

Seconds that's a great sleep! DD had reflux and we used infacol for a few months, hard to tell if it made it worse but I stopped it when I realised it wasn't helping her gas. I've not heard it recommended for reflux before. Maybe have a few days off and see how you go?

Glad DN is doing well hales, hopefully she'll have a mild case. I can remember having measles when I was 4, it wasn't fun.

MaMa I hope the bus journey home was ok?

DS had a good night last night, I gave him a lot more EBM in his dream feed bottle at 10:30. I'm surprised he managed to drink it all. He did 7:30pm-10:30pm-2:30am-6am. Hopefully it's not a one-off!

EggsMichelle · 15/02/2013 21:25

What a quiet day, everyone must have been busy enjoying the sunshine! Thanks Pidj off to boots tomo to see what they have in stock tea tree wise, also been advised to get a nasal aspirator (I hate children with candle sticks, snot makes me heave)

WLmum · 15/02/2013 21:36

I always find olbas oil a winner for relieving coughs and colds - think the junior one is suitable from 2 months.

Got a nasty feeling that dd2s germs may be about to do the rounds Sad

Secondsop · 15/02/2013 23:13

Z's reflux is 100% better today after a day of feeds with no infacol...

ISpyPlumPie · 15/02/2013 23:25

Oh no WL, hope you manage to avoid them. Also hope F is better soon Eggs.

Sounds like you've had a really good day and night Seconds - fx it carries on for you.

We had a lovely day - DS1 had a brilliant time, and I braved my first BF on a train. We are really lucky living near to both Liverpool and Manchester so loads of interesting things to see and do. There's a Victorian Sewers thing on at Manchester science museum over half term that will appeal to DS1's lavatorial sense of humour, however I'm wondering whether the Liverpool Tate might be a more civilised option!

Secondsop · 15/02/2013 23:33

i spy that sounds lovely - I really should make more of going out and about to see places with Z while I'm on maternity leave and while he's small enough for me to just take him to places that interest me.

Taking the pushchair by myself worries me when it comes to stairs and escalators. My husband found it difficult on the train and underground when he took Z to his office for a day by himself, and he's loads stronger than me. Has anyone tried bumping a pushchair on lots of steps? I do need to have my hair done in Brixton soon before we go on holiday but that involves tons of steps at Brixton railway station. I could go all the way into Victoria and then back out on the tube as i think Brixton station has a lift, but there are also steps down to the Victoria line at Victoria I think.

ISpyPlumPie · 15/02/2013 23:51

I took N in the sling today, and DM was with us too so took DS1 but definitely more of a juggling act on my own! More places do seem to have lifts now (but whether they're always working is another matter) so have avoided stair-bumping so far.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/02/2013 00:42

I would use a sling on the underground or use buses.

We just had four hours!! And even then he only woke up because dd woke up crying 'I don't want to go out' Confused she must have had a bad dream!

OP posts:
Secondsop · 16/02/2013 00:47

spotty well done on the 4 hours! What a breakthrough for you.

Re the transport, I'd use the baby Bjorn but I'd need to be able to put him down at the hairdresser. It's 2 buses from where I am to the hairdresser; perhaps that's the best thing to do especially as next week is half term isn't it so the buses will be quieter.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/02/2013 00:59

Yep half term next week, I would go for the bus. Just leave yourself plenty of time so you don't feel rushed. It felt amazing to get my hair done a few weeks ago!

It's probably a one off but I'm not complaining! I can't get back to sleep now, serves me right for going to bed at 8:30 Hmm

OP posts:
MaMaPo · 16/02/2013 02:05

Seconds - I had to stair-bump yesterday and I've hurt my back! Just woke for first night feed ;husband gave dream feed) and picking C up hurt. This is no fun. So do avoid stairs! And avoid Victoria - no lifts, lots of stairs.

EggsMichelle · 16/02/2013 02:34

I'm plAnning to go to London in the next couple of months (couple of exhibitions I want to see) have to take the pushchair as will be out all day, but can't afford taxis so had been pondering how to get about. If I stick to the disabled friendly stations I should be alright? You don't see many pushchairs on the underground!

6hrs, and another poo!!!

SpottyTeacakes · 16/02/2013 02:48

Only two hours this time and I didn't even manage to get back to sleep...

OP posts:
EggsMichelle · 16/02/2013 03:04

And we are staying awake! He didn't even want cuddles, he's watching The Cleveland Show and merrily coughing away to himself Hmm square eyes like his mum!

Aargh Spotty that would make me so angry!

WLmum · 16/02/2013 04:37

Yay for the good sleeping babies - hate not being able to get back to sleep spotty happens to me a lot Sad

seconds that's great, long may the reflux stay away. Bizarrely when dd1 started absolutely refusing gaviscon her reflux was better - DH laughs at me but I think sometimes they know what they need or not.

We just had 6 hours - yay! And at bedtime I managed to boob her til she was really sleepy then pat her to sleep on my shoulder. Want to avoid her becoming totally dependent on a boob in the mouth to get fast asleep. Smile

utopian99 · 16/02/2013 04:47

Hey spotty how dis you wangle enough time to get hair done? Increasingly desperate to...

O fell asleep at 10:30 on me, we were in bed by 11.30pm and he woke again at 2.30, and again now. Quite sleepy and still have 4 hour journey to Norfolk later! Will be great catching up with uni friends though.

In other news, dh got his job! Significant pay rise and really exciting but I think he's a bit sad to be leaving the studio he's currently in. Now to break the news to his parents/pil that we're moving. Can't help but worry they'll not take it well, they have a dog who runs their life when it comes to visits elsewhere and i imagine they'll treat us as planning to leave the country! we'll still be way closer than we have been to my parents for the last 5 years and my mum's been up to see us more times than they've been round so I hope I'm worrying unnecessarily...

SpottyTeacakes · 16/02/2013 05:26

That's good news utopian hopefully they will be pleased for their sun rather than worrying about themselves Hmm getting my hair done was easy, my best friend has her own salon and all the girls there love babies Grin
