Hmm, tried cot tonight instead of Moses basket to see if she preferred that. So far, co-sleeping 1, cot 0. Just fed again after trying to move her from our bed unsuccessfully (woken up by dd2 talking in her sleep), hoping she'll go down now - we'll see!

FriendofDorothy · 28/01/2013 01:42

Argh this baby just won't settle tonight!

WLmum · 28/01/2013 01:50

Fast asleep on the boob, wide awake in the cot. Will have one more try then will give in - too tired to fight and getting up for school run looms ever closer!

My DH would have the snip but I don't want him too. Don't think for a minute we'll be having dc4 any time but it is just so final and permanent. I don't get on with hormonal contraception so good old condoms it will be for us - if we're ever alone long enough to dtd. Took us years to fall for each dc so don't worry too much about accidents (famous last words!) - hv was shocked by this!

WLmum · 28/01/2013 02:00

I give up

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/01/2013 02:27

Ethan slept 10.30 until 2 again :) although if last night is anything to go by he's now going to be a fussy whatsit for the rest of the night!

I made leek and potato soup yest phase 1 of way more veg complete. There's enough for 4 days of lunch. I've just got to sort out some more containers and I'll do some sweet potato and a mixed veg one.

Speaking of contraception I need to make an appointment at our surgeries family planning session to arrange a coil fitting. I've had the implant before but had an early miscarriage with it in place so don't trust it. I can't do the progesterone only pill as I'm rubbish at remembering so the short window of time to take it renders it useless to me! I fell pregnant with dd on microgynon so I'm running out of options! [cinfised]

wl I hope LO is behaving ok.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2013 03:14

Stacey and Hales I had the mirena in when I got pregnant....

halesball · 28/01/2013 03:29

Oh spotty don't say that i'd thought i'd made a good decision. Haha

H hasn't managed to go longer than 2 hours between feeds and quite alot of the feeds have been closer to 30 minutes between. Shes feeding for between 20-40 minutes each time. Shes also losing some breast milk down her face on each feed, and being sick after every feed. She only managed a hour after her one bottle of formula as well. If i don't feed her she becomes inconsolable and doesn't stop whilst constantly trying to eat whatever of my body parts is closest to her mouth. She is also barely sleeping, no longer than 15-20 minutes in about 5 separate naps today although she does sleep whilst feeding sometimes. Has anyone got any suggestions how i can stop this? I already do block feeding and don't swop breasts till 1 breast is completely empty.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/01/2013 04:00

Hales is she having a growth spurt?

Spotty you're no help! Hmm Grin

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/01/2013 04:15

I'd suggest growth spurt too. Last week we were feeding every 2 hours. The last 3 days it's clicked and it's now 4-6 hourly. Just done 10:30 til 4:00. He's not sleeping as much as last week in the day either.

I'm sticking with cerazette hopefully I'll get on as well with it as I used to. Will be taking it for ~1 year so not too bad.

Six week check today. Can't wait to see what the little chubster weighs.

halesball · 28/01/2013 04:23

Do they have another growth spurt at 7 weeks? She had one at 5 weeks but nowhere near as bad as this. Also slightly worried if its a growth spurt as she has already put alot of weight on since birth and is starting to go in 3-6 month clothing.

zcos · 28/01/2013 04:58

halesballs there is one at 8 weeks you could be getting that one early? I thought we may have last week ... you may want to check out wonder weeks website...there is also a book you can read quite a bit of on kindle free sample according to that there is a mental leap round 7-9 weeks ... it seemed to make sense ... some who tried it here agreed some not but I think there could be something in it.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2013 05:52

Hales sorry you're not getting much sleep. Hopefully it won't last it does sound like a growth spurt or developmental leap. I think these effect some babies more than others.

SeymoreInOz · 28/01/2013 05:55

DH was going to get the snip but I think he's chickening out now, claiming he's too young or something. Hmm I can't take the combined pill so will need to think of other options. DS was conceived using condoms (carefully!)

Sorry another bottle question, how much EBM are you all giving in each bottle? I can only seem to pump 3oz at a time using the hand pump!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2013 06:01

Ds has just dropped off alarm goes off in one minute Hmm

Seymore I can only get 2-3oz at a time so do it twice a day to get 5oz. Ds is nine weeks (sob) but only four corrected and on the 50th centile for corrected age if that makes sense?!

Clarella · 28/01/2013 06:53

hands up who is actually really sleeping longer than an hour or so in one chunk?!

sorry to hear if ongoing thrush and sticky eye. hope they clear soon. and of sleeplessness!

this little one really wants to sleep but is constantly plagued by wind and gas. I offer boob now more to help knock him out. but the sleeping on me is increasing. I'm getting quite down now.

hales we have similar going on here. 7 weeks today but 2 wks over due so apparently double whammy with wonder weeks and 6 wks growth spurt!

have some Lll advice re supply and hoping it settles soon. they did say there can be problems if you're prone to over supply following a growth spurt. I'm also going to try irregular expressing so as to not over stimulate supply - only as we need it. he still takes a bottle but just wants boob in the evening at the mo. we had a full 2 hour bbattle at the boob between 4:30 and 6:30 yesterday eve - he'd napped for 3 hour so was super hungry but then my let down was horrendous so it was a cycle of screaming in windy pain then with frustration wanting boob over and over. it was awful :( I'm actually thinking I should not let him nap too long so as to avoid both my breasts being over full and him being over hungry at the moment.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/01/2013 07:27

Clarella could you hand express before latching him on? Kills 2 birds with 1 stone. You get some milk to store and your let down isn't quite as ferocious when he gets a turn?

Ethan did the same as yest 10.30-2 then up 4, 5, 6, 7

MaMaPo · 28/01/2013 08:17

We've definitely gone backwards in sleeping, with gaps of 3, 1.5, 2 and 3 hours. The first one doesn't count as I was awake! The news of an 8 week spurt makes me Shock as we are approaching that time now. Might explain why she's feeding a bit more and sleep is more disrupted.

Seymore, I express and give about 150ml in one bottle. Usually takes me about 30-40 mins to express.

OP posts:
Clarella · 28/01/2013 08:26

stacey maybe I'm over thinking it but I'm v paranoid about the fore milk causing the gas etc so I'd throw it - have been trying to catch let down in a muslin though if I can.

all is forgiven with a load of gummy smiles as I was teasing him for his wind problem Grin

pmgkt · 28/01/2013 08:31

Quick question. Has anyone moved lo into their own took yet rather than being in with them

zcos · 28/01/2013 09:14

clarella does foremilk cause gas? I have a very farty baby! I am more concerned about expressing it away that my dd would be thirsty as its the watery stuff!

Barbeasty · 28/01/2013 09:47

Just catching up after a manic few days.

If you want a fancy medical term for sticky eye then look up blepharitis. Can be useful if your DC is prone to it when they're a bit older, as people can get quite shirty thinking you're taking them to playgroup etc with conjunctivitis. DD got it badly for a while- or as DH used to say, it's an inevitable consequence of rubbing food and snot in your eyes!

We had A's christening yesterday so we've had lots of family around, and I spent far too long making a cake. You'd think I'd learn after making DD a caterpillar cake that ended up about 1m long.

So despite reasonable sleep, I'm shattered. don't start me on the fact BIL kept us up really late on Saturday night and we're still recovering

WLmum · 28/01/2013 09:48

hales maybe get lo checked for reflux - sick after every feed, and wanting to feed constantly can be signs - the constant sucking helps to keep milk and stomach acid down.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/01/2013 10:07

Argh ds is feeding every hour today Hmm I have things to do!

Pmgkt dd went into her own room at 14 weeks because she had a floppy larynx and kept us awake all night (she was sleeping through) I wasn't particularly comfortable with it but it was for our own sanity! IMO it's much too early for them to be alone I won't even leave ds for a nap Blush but think I'm extra paranoid after his breathing problems at birth

zcos · 28/01/2013 10:17

off to visit my work today with dd to be passed around at least 20 women ... and all the questions to ask my day has gone good so far cos d has just slept so shower hair and make up done ... just not sure if we will get her fed and dressed in time for train and she hasn't pooped for days so that's always a possibility! why is it I want to appear perfect to these people and d I have some good friends there but would happily tell them the truth!

Clarella · 28/01/2013 10:20

zcos only too much foremilk all the time - I had over expressed in hospital then we went to demand feeding one small baby but my body thought I was feeding twins or a very big baby! am having some probs again at mo but it will settled down- but it's still very necessary for baby! I expressed a little off so it didn't drown him yesterday but it seems to have calmed a lot today so far.. some babies are more prone to it than others. my sister claims yo have never really needed to burp her daughter!
