Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I didn't know about the formula and was a bit Hmm but if it had worked I might have said let's just do it.

WLmum · 25/01/2013 20:21

honey don't stay up - the stress and tiredness will make expressing so much harder. I agree a bottle of formula might be in order, you can then express tomorrow to make up for it - I've found hand expressing in short bursts whenever I get the chance is actually building up quite a nice little stock and much less of a big deal than sitting for ages with the pump - and don't have to wash and sterilise the pump either.

Yay for smiles seconds. T here seems to be just finding her voice - cute!

I wake t for feeds in the day if it's been more than 4 hours, or if we're going out which will mean I won't get a chance to feed for ages. Agree that restricting day sleep at this age does nothing to improve night time sleep.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 25/01/2013 20:30

Yay for smiles seconds we haven't had a non-windy smile yet :(

clarella that's mammouth weight gain. Ethan was 7lb 7oz at birth and was 9lb 9oz at 6wks 5days

honey ds needs you well rested. Do whatever you need to achieve that, and don't beat yourself up about it.

Well me and Ethan had our first tandem bath. It was lovely, he loves floating in the water (with me just holding his head/neck). And he had a lovely cheeky feed too, well if mummy's boobies are there it'd be rude not to wouldn't it?! Grin then DH took him to get dressed and ready for bed. They had some lovely bonding time, I got to wash my hair and shave my legs Shock Then when I came out I fed ds and put him in his crib. He slept soundly for a whole 45 minutes! Grin must do it more often though twas lovely!

CODwidow · 25/01/2013 21:21

I'm about to enjoy a glass of red, how sad but so excited!

HoneyMumandSon · 25/01/2013 21:29

Thanks all :) I've got nothing against using some formula of needs be. I'd be the first to tell anyone else that happy rested mummy is the most important thing but if I don't express for him I just feel like a failure even though formula wouldn't be a problem. Does that make any sense without making me sound hypocritical?!

WLmum · 25/01/2013 21:38

All just part of the big bag of crazy that comes along with mummyhood!

halesball · 25/01/2013 22:45

It doesn't sound hypocritical at all Honey, i know exactly what you mean. The 1st time my DP gave H a bottle i couldn't be in the room and cried. I cried for the next couple of feeds as well. But i think in the long term its worked better. My mental health has improved i was really close to breaking point. My DP can help out and feels more involved and like he's making decisions about when she gets her feed. Theres pros and cons do whatever you feel comfortable with.

2blessed · 25/01/2013 23:27

Dp and I have talked about introducing formula as it looks like ds is a hungry baby. Felt a bit defensive about it at first as if I am not able to provide him with what he needs. However, if it helps him and mean I can get more rest then...

zcos I remember pm dawn - set adrift on memory bliss...

Got a bit of an aibu to try out on you. I understand visitors are excited to see ds but I wish that once he goes to sleep that he is left alone to sleep. Not trying to keep him awake for their own interests - grr! Am I being harsh?

SeymoreInOz · 25/01/2013 23:33

pidj I second that! I have stuck a massive sign to that effect on our bedroom door, for the benefit of 4 year old DS!!

honey I hope you managed to get some rest?

hales how is the thrush pain now? What are you using? Make sure you stop using lansinoh on the affected the nipple, candida feeds off any kind of greasy cream.

DS is going to be 8 weeks on Monday. Where does the time go?? His colic is still pretty bad although last night he was waking every 3 hours and I feel quite human. For the previous 8 nights he's been waking every hour and screaming. He just poos mucous now and his rash is awful again. I've had to dose him up calpol most days because it's really raw and angry. Apparently all the mucous is to blame. The GP said we have to "manage it" until the colic and constant diarrhoea/mucous stop at about 3/4 months. Because he sleeps so little and feeds for comfort he's now on the 100th centile and wearing 3-6 months clothes. Anyway, sorry for the epic moan!

COD how was that glass of wine? Grin

SeymoreInOz · 25/01/2013 23:37

2blessed YANBU! It takes long enough to get them off to sleep. I would be turfing out visitors threatening to wake DS!

halesball · 25/01/2013 23:47

2blessed YANBU no one should wake the baby just to see them!

Seymour its getting worse, but we're snowed in. We've had 7-8 inches of snow fall since 9pm! I can't bear my boobs now even a t-shirt rubbing them hurts. I'll have to man up though till i can do something about it. And thanks for the Lansinoh tip, i was still using it. That might explain me getting worse while H seems to be getting better, i'm scared of her getting it back worse though.

zcos · 25/01/2013 23:53

purple what a lovely conception story is the fiddle a euphemism and is the father someone from the band! SmileWink
I forced my husband when we conceived he was v ill and I was making him do it every other day!

zcos · 25/01/2013 23:55

oh.yay seconds Grin Smile Smile Smile

zcos · 26/01/2013 00:01

2 blessed yay that's the song!! reminds me of long hot summers as a kid spent in outdoor pool ... that was in Britain who would have believed it hope its a good summer this year reason I had baby was for long summer off work

EggsMichelle · 26/01/2013 00:07

YANBU 2blessed, also if he is lip smacking and crying, don't just coo, hand him over to be fed!

Biggest poosplosion ever, he was still pooing when I took the nappy off, then peed on the carpet, was like korma paste coming from his bum! Annoyingly he is wide awake now, gazing lovingly at Ewan the Sheep.

I hated the thought of ff, but the amount he drinks, he must be hungry, and it makes me a far more relaxed mum in the night.

We are being snowed in again, I've only just today scrapped the last snow off my car, and I really wanted to go clothes shopping!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/01/2013 00:15

Argh ds won't go to sleep! I have no patience this time if night I just want sleep!

EggsMichelle · 26/01/2013 00:37

He's pooed again! Spotty, I feel your pain!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/01/2013 00:42

It's really annoying when they're wide awake isn't it?! I'm so tired, dp is giving a bottle of ebm next feed but I know ill still wake up (dp isn't exactly quiet about itHmm)

zcos · 26/01/2013 00:50

loosing my will to live too just hope when she finally goes down its for a while ... keeping dh up too tonight as he doesn't have work tonmorow is that mean?

EggsMichelle · 26/01/2013 00:54

All this feeding and changing we are doing now, he had better sleep for a decent length when he eventually goes. All my expressed has to be saved to mix with his gaviscon, so it's boob all the way (he's had his allocated 2 ff's for the at,)

EggsMichelle · 26/01/2013 00:56

Not mean at all, it's good for then to experience and appreciate our sleep deprivation!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 26/01/2013 01:12

I feel human again! DP sent me to bed at 7 and ice just woken 5 hours later Blush We've had the 7-8 inches too! Not far from you in wigan hales. Quick feed and back to bed! Hope everyone else gets some rest.

We had a 2 nappy, 4 poo poosplosion earlier. It was spilling out of the nappy, he only ever does a little in his nappy n the test comes in the open air! J's an alfresco pooer! Ended up with a much happier baby as a result.

Night night!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 26/01/2013 01:15

Ooh nothing worse than when they wake you up. Especially when you feed as quietly as possible to avoid waking them. The worst is when they wake you to tell you they need feeding and they're going to do it. I nipped that in the bud first week when DP turned the light on to feed in our bed when if been going downstairs!

Anyhoo random rant! Definitely off to bed now.

halesball · 26/01/2013 01:17

Willyou yay to your sleep Grin.

This maybe a stupid question but do you think if i just BF from the breast thats least painful for abit that it may cause supply issues?

WillYouDoTheFandango · 26/01/2013 01:32

Glad I slept earlier! J will not go to bed. On the plus side just been treated to my first baby smiles! Grin
