Previous thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/1655656-November-2012-sleeping-through-yet

The answer to the sleeping though question was a chorus of "no"s but there were a few resounding yesses and a lot more keeping quiet because the rest of us would be well jel.

Titsalina, R is a front sleeper. Hv advised that he needs fewer covers because it makes them warmer and congratulated me on his sleeping. No smoking plus brand new mattress makes it fine :)

I'm on both too, Clerella!

I keep up because i surf from a blackberry playbook that i can hold in one hand while feeding Wink

blonderthanred · 18/01/2013 03:34

The joys of night feeding a snuffly baby - trying to breathe and drink at the same time is proving a challenge for the poor mite. At least he is no longer bunged up the other end (as he just just proved in spectacular fashion - luckily for once DH had woken and offered to change him - hurrah).

Did someone recommend Karvol? Or anything else? It's only a little cold but he keeps waking himself me up with the snorting.

blonderthanred · 18/01/2013 03:38

ps Tits DS always rolls onto his side and I try to roll him gently back but it's tough. I'd be tempted to try and move him from a front position but I think they say if they have moved themselves it's ok to leave them.

Bryzoan · 18/01/2013 04:08

Tits - my understanding is that if they roll themselves it is fine though before g went into his harness I let him sleep on his front sometimes when I was in the room as he slept better that way and I'm quite sensitive to waking up for his snuffles etc. On an unrelated note, I am flabbergasted at the nerve of your exp's new girlfriend changing her profile pic to one of your kids! Nutter!

Gt - your friend also has a nerve. Can't believe she is prevaricating and making excuses rather than apologising and removing immediately. Doesn't matter how many pics if you don't want them there!

Det - shocked to hear how your appt went. Def second opinion time. No-one should have to put up with that.

Garden - hugs, hope you are ok. Having babies strains even the best reltnships sometimes I think. And I think prems can do even more so. With dd1 I spent so long looking after her by myself in Nicu I didn't really trust dh to do anything - and he just left everything to me. I felt like a single parent with the added load of extra cleaning, washing cooking and shopping and very nearly told him to bugger off once or twice. Take it easy and look after yourself whatever happens.

Evil - you were asking if it was wrong that you were looking for reasons to leave dp? I still think you have reason enough from your last argument. Good luck whatever you decide.

Right - time to explain to g it is still night time... Wondering how much snow we will have tomorrow. Southerners - I am not far from southamton either - about an hour north, up past Salisbury.

Clarella · 18/01/2013 05:10

detective I must have missed what happened at appt .... sorry it didn't go well.

'am I being a paranoid mummy?' - I think gs had same bug as me which feels like a stinking cold but there's no snot but if he felt like it did he felt really rubbish. I felt a hit better yesterday but tired and he was very sleepy in afternoon - to the point where after not feeding much in morning I felt I should wake him each 3 hours for a feed (not had to do for weeks). he clustered quite a bit in eve and last fed at 12:15. he just woke me gurgling and straining a little bit but went back to sleep - BUT I then felt I should feed him as it's been 4 and half hours- longest ever, incase poorly .. . argh ! wwyd??

I think his low birth weight still affects what I decide to do (5lb 2) at 42 weeks - he was 8lb 9 on Monday for 5 wk weigh and upped percentiles to 9th so made great progress but I still worry - BUT am I holding him back if he's trying to sleep longer?

StuntNun · 18/01/2013 05:39

Welcome to the quiche Mona.

There was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago for babies that sleep on their fronts Tits. My DS2 always slept on his side, right from the start he wouldn't settle until he got on to his right side. If you have a movement monitor then it might be best to go with it.

It's awful when you get fobbed off like that Detective. I have had a few experiences like that where the problem got worse because follow up treatment was needed and they won't listen when you tell them something is wrong. I would keep plugging away at the doctor until it's easier for them to give you a referral just to make you leave them alone. Grin Can you ask for them to write that it's urgent in the referral letter? Otherwise you could be waiting a while for an appointment. Surely it shouldn't be so painful after 7 weeks? How are other peoples' episiotomy scars healing up?

CandyPop · 18/01/2013 06:03

Im another that could do lakeside :D

GTbaby · 18/01/2013 06:18

Omg. What am I doing up! Oh the baby ignored me n wants feeding after just four hours. Of course. Confused

DH has to drop car off for service. I'm meant to follow him there n drive him bk Hmmso tempted to ask him to get bus back

GTbaby · 18/01/2013 06:26

OmF. Fecking transfer failed. Seriously. Fucking seriously. Am I just having a shit night! Yes!

PetiteRaleuse · 18/01/2013 06:48

Good morning. Welcome Mona , there's only one Nov 12 group it's just we have filled a lot of threads. We are quite chatty in here.

Blonder if you put the baby on his side, squirt the drops up the top nostril ard enough you should be able to see lots of snot coming out the other nostril. Repeat on the other side, about 10 to 20 minutes before every feed. It's the most effective way I have found, and it's hw they do it in the hospital. They hate it, and it might sound as if they're drowning sometimes (was it your gp who said that?) but it is much much better for them than the mucous being digested, or worse that it Gets down into the lungs.

Detective once again I am speechless at how badly women are sometimes treated by health services. Pain after 7 weeks on any scar is not normal. A bit of itching as healng continues, ok, but not actual pain.

Evil you have an excuse to leave your DP. What he said last week was disgusting.

Well I mixed up teats for LO's bottle, using one of DD1's teats for her morning feed. She necked it back, burped, and puked it back up all over me. DH has is work event tonight and I'm on my own til tomorrow as won't epect much sense from him even if he does come back before 2am which I know is nothing really - only a day right- but being puked on at 7 am feels like an omen for a tough day ahead.

Hope you're all able to enjoy the snow while not having to commute. We're due more snow tomorrow. Same band of cloud. W've still gt heaps left from Tuesday. Yay, should be pretty and no need to drive tomorrow :)

GTbaby · 18/01/2013 06:53

PR. snow here is limited. I was expecting an amazing view (of the terraced houses behind me) everything cover in snow. But there Is just a frost like covering. Major disappointment!

With LO crap sleep/ feeding n lack of snow I know that omen feeling. Gona b a bad day! Wink

StuntNun · 18/01/2013 07:13

We should organise all the Ikea meets for the same day even though they'll be at different stores. Then we can all chat about it on the thread afterwards.

I'm getting new front tyres on my car today so hopefully the snow will hold off until they're on. Must go and get the sledge out of the shed in case I need it to go and pick up the boys from school.

OP posts:
StuntNun · 18/01/2013 07:14

I take it I'm the only one for Ikea Belfast? Anyone? Anyone?

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 18/01/2013 07:16

I'm feeling a little cheerier. My bread has just been delivered and it is still warm. She must have done our street first :)

My cats have got used to us being up in the night to let them in and out of the house, and the last few days we of course haven't been getting up. They were furious this morning when I let them in. I opened the back door and one of them actually hissed at me as she stalked in. Must be cold for them. Oh well, they should learn to adapt to coming in while we are still up if they want to stay in the warm. Thick animals.

PetiteRaleuse · 18/01/2013 07:20

I have to admit that Ikea is my worst nightmare. I quite like the food, but will only ever go during term time, during the week, when DH is off. I hate the fact the store irritates me beyond belief but that I still can't stop myself from spending far too much money in there.

Watching BBC Breakfast. Lve the way the weather people are so excited and trying to make the forecasts as dramatic as possible. You can sense their glee :)

StuntNun · 18/01/2013 07:37

DH says Ikea is the closest I've ever been to actually killing someone. I only wanted a kitchen cupboard ffs but no, that wasn't in stock and they couldn't tell us when it would be in stock and they couldn't order it in. Went to B&Q and got the cupboard inside of five minutes without having to navigate a maze through a shop with no visible exits.

horseylady · 18/01/2013 07:38

Caped - were close then!! I'm about 20 - 30 mins from Alton towers

Another god damned sore throat!!!!

Tits - did you move him? I've spoken to a good 10 people who pit an angel pad under their baby and let them sleep on their bellies. Theyre guidelines not hard fast rules. Ds sleeps ok on his back but has started rolling onto his side. I've been putting more clothes on ds than recommended as he's been cold. Saying that. It's 15 degrees in my house. I have no idea why?! We laid the insulation and there was loads. I'm wondering if I've left a window half open!

Clarella · 18/01/2013 07:39

this snow thing is silly. we got snowed in every winter in the peak district in the 80's and 90's. I got snowed out once, got stuck in buxton for 3 days and even then had to walk the last mile home. kept falling through the drift crust up to my armpits. we used to make igloos.

stuff ikea, if catbag makes newcastle city centre we're hittin the toon baby!! (or a nice coffee in the Baltic ;) )

PetiteRaleuse · 18/01/2013 07:47

Oh I am having a rage moment. I was really looking forward to my warm bread, butter and jam. And there is no more strawberry jam. I think I must have PMT there is no justification for me being so angry today.

Other than watching Lance Armstrong come clean but not show any sign of regret. Daren't switch over to French news I can imagine that each and every French person is taking his cheating personally.

Those of you who want to make some extra money and are considering writing, if any of you are, I have heaps of materials from writing courses and ebooks about writing etc. If you PM me an email address I can send you them. Am thinking particularly of Detective as she was talking about money yesterday and obviously enjoys writing at length but anyone else, just let me know.

ChunkyChicken · 18/01/2013 08:00

PR LOL @ the weathermen...

detective def get a 2nd opinion. When I had pain DTD after DD, I saw the Dr at 6wks (the one that wanted to use silver nitrate to remove scar tissue!! Shock

Catbag · 18/01/2013 08:04

petite I would interested in the odd thing if no one else claims. It had been my intention to do either a masters or the BPTC this September, but DH thinks (and secretly I know he is right) that currently we can afford neither and so my education/ career is being put on the backburner. Oh, and the twins don't really help in that regard either Grin I would like to write for a living in the interim.

clarella Ooo, coffee at the Baltic! That sounds much more like it...

PetiteRaleuse · 18/01/2013 08:06

Sure, just send me an address. I'm happyto email it to as many people as want it if they are partofthis quiche

Catbag · 18/01/2013 08:10

A reporter on Radio 4 has just referred to the roads in South Wales as 'treacherous'. His mis-use of the English language has made me irrationally cross

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 18/01/2013 08:11

I seriously struggle to keep up! PR am Envy at warm bread, even without jam.

No ikea in the SW except Bristol which I don't think has been mentioned yet.

Clarella · 18/01/2013 08:11

detective I found your post don't know why I missed it. I would get a second opinion, a similar thing happened to my friend. I don't think the scar tissue should hurt after 7 wks either.

hope you're ok pidj, keep thinking of you.

garden and evil too
