CTF - What have you done with yours?

I need to find somewhere to put this - I know there are lots of different accounts but I am not planning on paying in any extra money so I don't mind the ones that are linked to the stock market. Isn't there a mild risk one - I thought it went:-

no risk, simple savings account
mid risk - linked to stock market
high risk - also linked to stock market?!?!?!?!?

Anyway, the mid risk thing sounds good to me if I'm right.

Anyone know of a good one to invest in? I don't want to make any extra contributions!

I'm with you on not adding- I think it's the government's way of having access to personal savings when they're ready to go off to uni and won't help them financially-call me cynical!

thanks bram - for me it's nothing really to do with govenment. It's more the fact if I were choosing to save money for ds I'd rather pick an account on my own without being told where to put the money. Also I don't like the idea of the money becomming theirs at 18 - I know what I would have done with a large sum of money at that age - I'd rather wait until 21 or possible even 25.

I just put mine in a savings account, don't want to add because I don't like the idea of not being able to access the money/close account for 18 years, but if you don't mind where you put it I'd look for the one that gave out the best freebies - I think one has offers linked to Boots?

Put dd's in CIS investment one, because it is "ethical" and I'm not really bothered about it. Any savings I make for my children will be in MY name, so I can decide how they are spent!! Think it is a rubbish gimmick, and the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I quite agree. I know I would have spent the money quite wisely at 18, even better at 21, much better at 25 and I could still think of better ideas now at 29.
