How does the dream feed work? Do I just pick him up, swaddle and all, and stick the bottle in his mouth? How much do I try and get him to take? I never try and get a bit extra down him as he will sick it up. So do I just let him suck for 30 mins then try putting him down? He does take the piss a bit with his feeds and will suck forever without taking much if you let him.

Hmm
StuntNun · 15/01/2013 17:31

I think you're supposed to do it when they're in a light sleep, so moving a bit and making sounds Detective. If you try when they're dead to the world then the milk will just dribble out the side of their mouth. I'm sure it depends on the baby though: whether they're a light sleeper or not, and how food orientated they are.

Stunt to your trousers and tops comment. They are both looking a little short in 0-3 but better than the baby grows. The issue is 3-6 look huge width ways on him.

Have found some John Lewis baby grows we were given in 0-3 and they appear a lot longer...

StuntNun · 15/01/2013 17:58

Iirc Debenhams and John Lewis are both good for long thin 'uns. Expensive though. I prefer Asda for kids clothes although BHS have good t-shirts and pyjamas for when they're older.

OMG I'm having my first bath in peace and quiet! DH has taken M out to go get KFC so I can have a relax. It seems strange though, this is the first time he's taken her out without me, not sure if I like it.

M still seems to feed constantly during the day. When she'll start having more of a gap between feeds I don't know. She seems to get bored easy and decides se wants a feed.
But the last three night she's slept 12-6:40, 11-5;50 and 10-4:30!!! Mega chuffed but then she makes up for it by feeding all day. The better sleep has also coincided with us starting to use sleeping bags instead of blankets

Thanks for the new thread stunt! Love the title Grin

A lot to think about. The job isn't as secure as the one he has now, so we could end up in a sticky situation. I don't think he'll take it. plus although I'll miss him the 4 weeks he's away, we'll end up divorced spending 4 weeks solid together when he's on leave!!

Still no poo from M (3 days now Confused ) but I've stopped the infacol and she's been farting like a trooper. Wonder if she's bunged up from that?

We have a HV coming out tomorrow morning. Feck knows when exactly. Not looking forward to it, only met one so far who wasn't a condescending jobsworth...

Not had a chance to catch up properly. Will no doubt have plenty of time in the middle of the night!

Dixiebell · 15/01/2013 18:47

fatima, teddy feeds a lot in the day too. Want to try and get the baby whisperer EASY routine going but at the mo it's more like EAESEEE!! But he doesn't do so well at night as yours, 5 hours is the most we've done but at the mo it's more like 3. Last night was up at 2.30, then didn't get back to sleep until about 4, then up at 5 again until 6. And ds1 up at 6.30. No fun.

MissMummy1 · 15/01/2013 18:47

Oh and stomach muscles. I have my 6 week check with gp on Monday so was going to bring it up then. Tummy doesn't look too strange (except lots of stretch marks and very untoned and baggy). Struggle to do things like sitting up. MW said it was common practice here for gp's to refer on to physio. Will report back on Monday!

blonderthanred · 15/01/2013 19:24

MM my DS got bunged up from Infacol. At least I think that's what it was, we stopped it and he started going again.

BigPigLittlePig · 15/01/2013 20:12

detective we had hysterical crying episode so swaddled her up and made lots of loud shushy noises, and she fell asleep after 5 mins or so, until just now. Had a feed & now she's dozing again.

It meant I had a lovely bath bit too hot though so feel odd now although too lazy to wash my hair so still look like I've dunked my head in the deep fat fryer.

Passmethecrisps · 15/01/2013 20:18

Fresh air seems to bung P up. She is a sensitive wee soul it would seem.

Does M seem uncomfortable MM? I try to do lots if leg cycling and tummy massage for p every day. This usually keep the worst of it at bay.

I have sore eye balls. Think I am dehydrated.

Wonder how YW's house move is going? I can barely empty the dishwasher some times never mind sort out a new house.

Glad your do is okay stunt. I worry about my cat. I think she is getting thin but my frame of reference is knackered because she now feels tiny in comparison to P. when P was born they were the same weight.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 15/01/2013 20:30

I've been sat on the couch feeding for what feels like forever. At least 90 mins. I can't even tell if he's feeding or not. Surely my boobs must be empty!!

StuntNun · 15/01/2013 20:32

Izzy, J just did that as well, at least an hour after managing much shorter feeds lately. I wouldn't have minded so much if my nose hadn't been running the whole time.

J has his first immunisations tomorrow so I'm bracing myself for a bad-tempered LO to go with my bad-tempered DH from too little sleep this week.

Dixie M was the same in the night as Teddy going no more than four hours but mainly 2.5-3 until Saturday night. I was v shocked when I checked the clock and it was nearly 7am.

Evilwater · 15/01/2013 20:42

Hi all, it seems I've missed alot of the thread.
Fingers crossed, at home. It seems that some of our men have a meltdown on account of a baby. I still can't get my head around it, it takes nine months to make one but they have a shock, when the baby arrives.

I'm trying to get healthly, and do exercise but its so bloody cold. I feel better, but I'm feeling cold all the time. I wonder if its the stress? Who knows.

Been thinking about work, and it's depressing me. Anyone work for the NHS and know what I'm surposed to do to reduce my hours? But I don't know how many days I should do. It's because I work shifts and we "get given the shifts" and it's tough if you have a family. Groan........

Not but on any weight, but not lost any.
Evil

horseylady · 15/01/2013 20:47

Yes I do but I'm a none shift worker. I planon doing 30 hours. Monday, tues, thurs, fri. But I think my request will be reduced hours for the first 6 months with the option of going full time. Only because I want to ensure were ok on the reduced salary and my contract doesn't change forever to part time.

I imagine I will keep 4 days lol!!

Pass - my fat cat looks skinny. She's also stripped lots of fur off her legs. Were trying one of those calming plugs. My other cat is unworried by the baby.

Catbag · 15/01/2013 21:03

Soooo, horse DNA in beefburgers, hey? Bleeeuugh.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 15/01/2013 21:09

evil Im NHS and went pt after having my dd in 2009. You have to submit a flexible working application which is then considered and either accepted or rejected :( Mine was the last accepted in our dept, others had theirs rejected and even put in grievances which were also rejected so you don't have to be given the reduced hours unfortunately.

applepieinthesky · 15/01/2013 21:11

That's my concern too horsey that I will go down to pt hours and regret it. Then I will be pissed that I've given up a ft job. It's also difficult because of my childcare situation. Luckily I have several family members who are willing to help but my mum is my first choice and her work hours are likely to change before i go back to work. But she did say today that DS is her priority and work comes second. Lots to think about still. It gives me a headache.

ChunkyChicken · 15/01/2013 21:12

Dixie & kat there was a lady on embarrassing bodies with separation of the tummy muscles. She could literally see the food moving through her bowels. I think, iirc correctly from the leaflet I was given, the muscles often go back to normal by about 12wks & a finger-width gap is taken as normal post-pg. If the muscles are v wide apart or show no sign of returning, they can stitch them back together. A mesh is used in any hernia op, so they put that under the muscles to stop a hernia recurring before stitching up the muscles. Have you been given exercises to do? I can try to photograph the leaflet I got & put it on FB if you want.

Catbag · 15/01/2013 21:14

Anyone knocking around on here know anything about the need for vit D supplements for breastfed babies? Someone is asking about it on the FB group and I am not convinced I know enough to be proffering advice not that that stopped me Grin

ChunkyChicken · 15/01/2013 21:19

Ahhhhh!! DS just did the cutest thing.

I'm feeding him in our dimly lit bedroom, DD meant to be sleeping. She isn't. She calls "mummy, cuddly bit wet". I call back "why?!" And DS pulls off, startled, bottom lip turns down, sad eyes & does a little cry. He then sees its me & gives me a great big smile, then giggles before latching back on. Ahhhh bless!!! You gotta love 'em when they do that.Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 15/01/2013 21:26

Chunky I love the mid feed fits of giggles. Cheers me right up when I'm bad tempered (have been snapping at poor dd1 all day purely due to my own insomnia induced tiredness - will make it up to her tomorrow)
