Aw, you are very sweet re the two babies thing. Thing is, you just get on with it. It is like when you have one DC- you cannot imagine coping with two DCs, but then you have another and you just do it. Same with two babies at once. You'd all just cope, because you have to although possibly with less sleep cos one decides to screech the house down and wake the other one up. To be fair though, they don't really do that very much. Last night was one of the exceptions!

People are coming to Luxembourg???? You do know that I live on the French side of the border, just 5km away?

Just out of interest Lane why are you coming here?

StuntNun · 15/01/2013 12:24

Hi all, just catching up after a weekend away.

Couple of quick Qs....

When were your 8 week check/jabs appointments? Might sound stupid but M is 8 weeks on Friday, just got a letter from the hospital telling us to book it for w/c 28th Jan. depending on when its booked she'll be between 9wks3days and 10weeks. Is this correct?

Has anyone found a good video instructions of how to use a wrap sling?

applepieinthesky · 15/01/2013 12:36

brockle the only side effect I have is loss of periods which I think is great Grin I think it can also cause headaches and acne but I don't get any of these. Also when you stop taking it it can take a while for your periods to return and become regular again so you are best to stop it about a year before you want to conceive again. Last time I had it it took six months before my periods came back.

rowing not enough fresh air - thats a bit petty

stunt glad your dog is ok

dottie is still in her newborn stuff - have tried her in a few 0-3 things but she ends of kicking her feet out of the legs and then pushing her feet on the crotch and nearly strangling herself

i have got soooooooo much stuff crap in the house from guitars to telescopes that i keep meaning to put on ebay as id like to make a few quid but just cant find the time cba

ive kept lots of bits from my other 2 dc but other than a couple of special bits i will be getting rid of everything

Dixiebell · 15/01/2013 13:42

katkit, the hernia thingy, is it your belly button? Interested re the mesh. I was going to ask if anyone had herniated belly button as I do apparently. Split muscles so a big gap underneath, then a hernia do sticking out belly button. Doc said at 6 wk check this am that they don't normally treat it, so interested if you're having some treatment. Was also wondering if you had a funny tummy, MM as I remember u saying u had split muscles. What with the purple stretch marks in a circle all round belly button, my tummy looks hideous. Didn't have any of it first time round. Hmph.

PetiteRaleuse · 15/01/2013 13:56

I have a big scar from just below the breast bone to just above my tummy button from stomach surgery just after DD1 was born. During pregnancy something inside popped and I got a hernia. I also got some kind of hernia round the belly button.

They say that with physio I should be able to avoid surgery, and will get it checked out in 6 months. Just what I need on my belly. More scars.

ShellyBobbs · 15/01/2013 14:20

Katkit Tears roll down my face when I read what he's been sayingGrin

Fatima Jabs booked for this Friday, Tommy will be 9wks 5days.

Glenda Can't they do proper chips then? I've heard of gravy stocks running dry when northeners visit from the south! My youngest daughter is a typical northener, she has gravy on everything. The other day hubby cooked, Erin looked at him and asked where the gravy was, he told her it wouldn't go with what she was eating (macaroni cheese). She looked distraught when she said, 'but I've got a piece of meat on my plate!' Lol Grin

We don't get a 6 week check either.

ValiumQueen · 15/01/2013 14:37

Usually DS sleeps from 9am to mid day. DH has the morning off, and does DS sleep? Eventually feed him to sleep at 10.30......until 10.35. Long enough though Grin DH was quite alarmed to roll over to see his son grinning at him Blush

Another night of constant feeding, but I just got comfy and slept through most of it.

PetiteRaleuse · 15/01/2013 14:41

Can't you get decent chips on the coast? I know there is a place on the Suffolk coast that claims to be the best fish and chips anywhere, but I have say My northern tastebuds were not impressed at all.

Have to admit the chip shop on Putney High Street which is, or was, run by a Chinese family used to be brilliant. So you can get decent f&c down south :)

There is a pub in Lux that say they do proper f&c and I went once after weeks of waiting. I was sooo excited. And it was shite. So I don't trust continental promises of f&c now and save the pleasure for my rare trips home.

Catbag · 15/01/2013 14:46

It is snowing quite heavily on the other side of the valley. It is not snowing at all on this side. Meh.

pikz · 15/01/2013 14:46

Capol, Capol nasal spray, blanket and a big cuddle finally have a sleeping poorly baby. Thank god he's nearly 8 weeks and over 5kg. Feel terrible that he's caught my horrible cold/flu. I've felt so poorly can only imagine how he feels.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 14:47

We're viewing 3 nurseries this week, hoping to find one we like, Alex won't be going there until late oct but I'm anxious to find one that's perfect. Had injections today, I sobbed into his head - dramatic.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 14:57

Hi Dixie, yes sticky out tummy button like I'm still very pregnant then a big delve underneath it. Tummy covered in the same circle of purple stretch marks as you. yes, my muscles have split, dr advises op to have mesh to build up delve - he says that exercise won't fix this. I can't bring myself to touch my tummy, it feels so alien. I go back in 6 weeks. Pr - ouch poor you re vertical scar to fix your hernia, I was hoping any scars would be neat.

katkit1 · 15/01/2013 15:01

Shelley, I laughed like a drain reading those books - got them when I was pregnant, read them over a day, couldn't put them down.

ChunkyChicken · 15/01/2013 15:07

Just had a thought. For all those with long skinny babies, try Debenhams. A has a jacket & a pram suit from there, & what they are way too long on the arms & legs, they are very snug in the body.

A is between the 50-75th centiles for weight, length & hc, so in theory "perfectly" proportioned. Most of his clothes are fine on the body, too long in the arm & too short in the leg, despite being the 'correct' weight & age. However, Sainsburys & Asda seem to find him well.

ChunkyChicken · 15/01/2013 15:17

I hadn't heard it called a push present until I read it on MN, but DH took it upon himself to buy me sapphire earrings to match the sapphire necklace he'd bought for my 30th, for DD's birth. Didn't get 1 this time though as we/he doesn't have the money, but he did buy me flowers!!

ChunkyChicken · 15/01/2013 15:25

Last post for a little while from me - both dc asleep!!! Grin

My stomach muscles separated but the Dr didn't even ask, & I forgot to say, so I don't know if they're better or not. They feel closer, and my tummy doesn't bulge as much when I "attempt" a sit-up to check them iykwim. I don't do the exercises the MW gave me Blush but do make sure I lift carefully etc to protect my back. I think my belly button is ok though Hmm

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 15/01/2013 15:26

Fatima DS had his jabs at 9wo, I think 8wo is the minimum age, not the must be age, if that makes sense.

Chunky I also find Matalan quite good - longer arms and legs than next/george/tesco/sains as a general rule, perhaps bigger overall though.

kitkat - no bad thing to start looking - we started looking when DD was 3mo for her to start at 5.5mo and were met with many shocked faces - her current nursery is so oversubscribed that people who arent even pregnant have had viewings and people who are only just pregnant have reserved places. I mentioned I'd like a place for DS when he is 5.5mo when I was 8m pregnant, and was told I'd get him squeezed in because I was already a parent, but had I left it any longer, I might not have had a place! So I guess there is no such thing as too soon for some nurseries!

Can I ask a question for those bottle feeding? Do you offer bottles whenever your DC seems hungry?

DS (10w 4d old) seems to be a snacker - likes a few ounces every few hours, rather than a whole feed at once. Do I just go with this, or withold until a decent amount of time has elapsed to encourage him to take a nice big feed? Up until now I have been breastfeeding on demand, had no idea what sort of volume he took at each feed, and now am attempting the bottle I seem to be wanging a huge amount of formula.

My aim is to bottle feed during the day, and still do boob first and last thing. Seems to be going ok getting him switched over to daytime bottles, but he wont have more than 3 oz in one go.

horseylady · 15/01/2013 15:33

Ds above 50th for hc and lenth. I think he's probably below 25th now for weight. Length wise everything firs. It's just baggy round the middle.

I am feeling very fat today :(

Fatima - jabs were at 9+3

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 15/01/2013 15:37

LO is in 3-6 months sleepsuits - she's 9 weeks on Thursday. Need to get some more so might take a trip to sainsburys, thanks for the tip Pikz

They do great fish and chips in Worthing, which is near me. Not as good as northern fish and chips tho, and u can get a bag of scraps oop north! Smile

TheDetective · 15/01/2013 15:44

I have stretch marks around my tummy button from DS1. I call it my ring of fire Grin.

I slept far too fucking well last night. Slept from 1am, til 5, did a feed, then woke at 9 for next feed. I asked DP to do it so I could have another hour, then get up. Except DP didn't wake me. Until 2pm. Thanks DP Hmm. It really isn't going to help sleeping til then, is it?! I thought he might wake me at 11 or something. No. 2pm. Arse.

Wonder what he did from 9am-2pm with a baby? Judging by the state of downstairs - sweet FA! Bomb site, xbox on. Hmm

Just be grateful for the sleep Detective, be grateful.

I have now reached a new record. This is the 5th day of not getting dressed in a row. Or washing my hair. I look an absolute state. But what is the point when you get up at 2pm huh?!

Can you tell I am annoyed?!
