Oh I completely agree with you apple I'd be exactly the same. You have to do what you have to do to keep your job when you have responsibilities. But I think he definitely needs to get the union involved. What is it he does?

Fucking bastarding companies, treating people like shit. Gets right on my wick.

TheDetective · 14/01/2013 18:27

Does anyone else wonder if they are living with Homer Simpson sometimes?!

horseylady · 14/01/2013 18:29

Dh doesn't get up but would if needed. I think he wakes though.

Apple - see my previous posts re: sickness. It does look very dodgy if it's before or after a day off. Lateness depends on the manager. I'm known for it, but im no where near as late as others and I always always work over my hours. A lot depends in your manager. Mine is brilliant! I also know I could work for a powerfreak!!

Right dr thinks it could uti. Need to monitor him then if no better or worse try urine sample.

applepieinthesky · 14/01/2013 18:31

He works for a supermarket. Would love to name them but I won't.

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2013 18:52

I'm quite lucky with dh, he does wake when little pig cries eventually and gets up to do her nappy changes at the weekend. He can't do the feeds as she's breast fed, and I wouldn't expect him to get up during the week.

Had the 6 week check today, little pig has a tongue tie (despite being told she didn't have one by the breastfeeding expert Hmm) so she's off to get it sorted on Thursday - hopefully she'll stop mauling my boob feed better...

Hope everyone with troublesome DPs and poorly LOs is doing ok Thanks

TheDetective · 14/01/2013 19:00

Apple, does he work for twatscos?! I forgot that you said he worked in a supermarket. DP works for Morrisons. They aren't so bad, but they are going downhill, this last year has been bad for DP in terms of overtime, and pay. They also made sure he got no overtime before his paternity leave. So they didn't have to pay him extra (company policy to pay full pay for 2 weeks).

Hmm

If he wants to work at a different supermarket, I believe Asda are better out of the employers?? Could be very wrong though. DP keeps an eye out for Asda jobs. He I applied once, but didn't even get an interview even though he I had years of supermarket experience, and it was just for a regular shop floor job ffs! Yet people at college/uni/no experience get the jobs. Hmm

TheDetective · 14/01/2013 19:01

You know I actually think Oscar has a slight tongue tie. It isn't an obvious one, but it may explain why the feck he lingers so long with feeds... feel stupid for not noticing.

Horsey Does sound like a UTI, esp. the strong urine. Poor wee thing! He's going through the mill!

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2013 19:09

detective I had wondered recently as she kept sort of falling off my boob, and someone had written a post saying that their LO had a tongue tie and it felt like his tongue was fluttering when he was feeding. The thing is, her tongue has that bit underneath it, but then so does mine (so does everyone?) so it's difficult to know when it becomes a problem.

If fixing it means she feeds better, hopefully I can wave goodbye to blocked ducts/mastitis.

Fwiw I also applied for till job (once upon a time) and didn't get an interview probably because I was overqualified for the job but I would have been bloody good

applepieinthesky · 14/01/2013 19:20

Detective Wink I think a lot of employers are as bad as each other. They know that there are so many unemployed people out there desperate to work and use this to their full advantage by exploiting the workers the currently have. DP has been told several times (when he has objected to them taking the piss) that he can leave if he isn't happy and they will easily find someone to replace him. I know other people that have been told the same.

GTbaby · 14/01/2013 19:21

Hilarious chunky!
My DH was like that before LO anyway. So nothing new.

Terms of clothes. LO is 13 weeks n 3-6 fit well. Will last maybe 2weeks then into 6-9 Shock sucks as I bought a few 3-6 n was given/ asked for loads as I thought they would last 3 months. But no. Gona get a out 6 weeks wear out of some. Less for others.

applepieinthesky · 14/01/2013 19:22

*they

GTbaby · 14/01/2013 19:22

Ps is 13 weeks another growth spurt? LO has slept all day. Apart from feed, play for half hour then sleep. Poo n weeing fine. Or maybe tiered from last night?

blonderthanred · 14/01/2013 19:27

My DH is very keen to help but doesn't wake up as instinctively as I do. Although once I woke up to find him by the cot when DS had stirred and I was still asleep. More often DH will sleep through it but that's ok with me as I want him to sleep enough to work and be able to help when I need. One night I was furious that he slept through DS screaming and a massive poosplosion nappy change - he later admitted he had heard but chosen to stay asleep iyswim. He was a bit ashamed of that.

Stunt I had also heard that about praising effort and hard work rather than 'being clever' - I think this is really true.

Apple I understand your frustration - I think your DH's work is being harsh but I know what you mean about wanting him to avoid situations like that in the first place.

NotSoNervous · 14/01/2013 19:35

I can't remember who told me to try the NUK bottled because DD was refusing bottles but after a little perseverance she's taking it ! So I've started pumping again. She seems to be taking about 4oz a feed at 12w old

ValiumQueen · 14/01/2013 20:00

I need to sell stuff on Fleabay, but am finding it hard to part with stuff. I am a bit sentimental, and a bit of a hoarder when it comes to fabric. I think I will sell the boy stuff easily enough, but the girl stuff I will probably cut up and keep the scraps, and buttons and trims. I am making memory quilts for the girls. Boy prints are just not the same. Are you guys planning on selling all the vests too? Looking for tips on how to bundle stuff up.

daisychain76 · 14/01/2013 20:16

Aaargh! Been trying to get H down in cot during evenings. After a week of sitting by said cot for entire evenings finally got him down for 7.30pm tonight, fast.asleep. Then ds1 decides tonight is the night to spend his reading time trying and failing to do heaadstands in the next door bedroom. l am now back next to cot, bf again...

ChunkyChicken · 14/01/2013 20:30

I think I avoid waking DH because he is so bloody useless when tired. I mean, he will doze off on the loo, in the middle of a sentence, between putting socks on. He will forget basic things & doesn't always make sense if he's talking to you. It is seriously strange how he fails to cope on less than a 6hr undisturbed block of sleep. So on a work night, I def don't wake him, at the weekend I only wake him if absolutely necessary, which is only for vom or poo disasters, or to help with DD. Yet another reason formula wouldn't be a miracle cure for our family...

Trying a double feed - 1 now. Putting DD to bed then in about an hr, a bedtime feed. Will maybe only need him to have a quick dream feed to get him through to 5am. We'll see!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/01/2013 20:35

daisy I'm the same I had 1 really good night with J in the cot but now there is no chance, he screams and screams until he comes in our bed and bfs all night. Confused

I have a very cracked and sore nipple, I think infection is getting in again, it bloody hurts but this past 2/3 days J has been all about the boob, really clingy.

He screamed all through baby massage, I don't think we'll go back Blush

As or clothes, does anyone find that thy have a long legged baby? If I get J 0-3 months its baggy on top but his toes get scrunched up in the feet. Also trying to find stuff that doesn't shrink! All our clothes have to be tumble dried but babygrows all seem to shrink after 1 wash. I've packed away all the newborn stuff for the next one I'm fast running out of things that if him, he's only 10 weeks old!

ValiumQueen · 14/01/2013 20:37

Just had a look on the Ralph Lauren website. I could afford a bib. Possibly Grin

DD2 took a clanger to bed. DH did not realise it has a noise element. We keep hearing it over the monitor.

DH is not in work until lunch time tomorrow. The girls are at school and nursery. DS usually naps well after the school run. We have a date Blush

glendathegoodwitch · 14/01/2013 21:01

My dh puts eplugs in Shock

dd1's birthday today so have had to put a smile on and play silly games!! Dottie had another meltdown in the car when we went to pick her up from school - I had to turn the stereo up otherwise I would have got out of the car and walked away I adore dots but cannot handle the meltdowns that occur 4/5 times a day - my other two very rarely had screaming abdabs only when ill or very overtired 😞

applepieinthesky · 14/01/2013 21:09

DP has spoken to one of the managers where he works who has told him not to worry too much about the warning. Apparently almost everyone that works there is on at least their first warning. She said it is the company's way of getting them to take less time off sick. We are speaking for now. Just.

Is anyone else going to put in a flexible working request before going back to work? I read somewhere to do it at least 14 weeks in advance to allow for negotiations/disputes so I have started to think about it now. I'm not sure if I want to continue to do ft but ask to do 2 days at home or go pt and do 3 days a week. I'm torn. I don't think they'll like the idea of me working from home. If so I don't mind job sharing but you can only submit one flexible working request every 12 months so I don't know how to go about it Confused

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 14/01/2013 21:14

My DH doesn't seem to wake up when J does. Although he does help at weekend's loads. During the week I figure he needs sleep as he's working and realistically there is nothing he can do as J is BF. At weekends I tend to do first feed and hand J over then get a few extra hours in bed.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 14/01/2013 21:20

How lovely vq. I too was wondering how to bundle things up. Would a newborn starter set be a good idea with newborn vests and sleep suits in unisex and the the more daytimey stuff sell as another bundle? What do your think? Or is it better to separate the vests and sleep suits dogs think?

apple your DPs work sound very silly, but he would be silly nit to p,ay the game as these if companies often win out the end. I hope his union rep is switched on. I hope it works out, pleas keep us updated.

I am having a pretty good time with Olly at the mo tbh. He has settled back into a really nice routine after the mayhem that was after jabs a week of so ago. I have never had jab trouble with anyof my DCs before this. I am tempted to Calpol before the jabs for the second set and I have never done that before.

I hope it doesn't decline now I have shared it! Grin

Am feeling pretty loved up with my family today. DH often wakes up if Olly wakes, he checks the time Hmm. As O has been going through from 11ish he has done this 10ish feed for the last three days. I have taken the opportunityt get to bed pretty early and am now feeling like I am recovering from the eight weeks of little sleep, busy days, and ultimately I suppose labour! As we get knackered during labour and don't get a chance to recover for weeks.

Last thing honest. I stopped bleeding from the massacre period on Saturday and started bleeding again today. Wtf. Am going to get back onto the homeopath I think. Is anyone else having these problems?

BigPigLittlePig · 14/01/2013 21:29

Gah just wrote a post and laptop deleted it.

Little pig has finally grown into newborn size clothes, so I had to pack away her tiny baby outfits. She's on the 75th centile for weight now, but only the 9th for length. Some would interpret that as being short and fat Blush

VQ I like the idea of making a memory quilt, although I suspect that taking scissors to her clothes will make me cry (hormones hormones)

blonderthanred · 14/01/2013 21:50

I love the idea of the memory quilts VQ. I was wondering if something like that was possible but I'm not at all crafty. It would be a great cottage business for someone who is.

We have a Ralph Lauren playsuit, a gift from DH's fancy cousin. I'll take a pic once he has grown into it. It's very... logoed.

Went to New Parents group today, it was pretty good. Got some lovely free books from the Library Service and met some nice people including some I've seen at previous things. We had coffee afterwards, quite proud I have some Mummy friends!

I am meeting my boss on Weds, she is also on mat leave and due to go back the same time as me. She wants to talk about options so hopefully we can both go back pt. We'll then have to persuade the Board but will help if we have worked something out first together.

For those irritated by DPs some catharsis: DS just had a big eruption while sitting on DH. He waited a minute in case there was a follow-up then suddenly yelled - poo had escaped the nappy & sleepsuit and was dribbling all over his t shirt and work trousers. I may have laughed a bit.
