LO had a dose of conjunctivitis when she was ill. I put saline drops in her eyes and it cleared up (though obv checked the packaging first). I'm sure I've read that breast milk is good for conjunctivitis. Could be worth googling.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/01/2013 12:33

tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/ just look at this gorgeous website.

gardenpixies32 · 13/01/2013 12:40

Les Miserables was fab! Had nice lunch too and long chat with good friend.

Twins & grandparents survived each other. They were 15 weeks old yesterday. Time is flying!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 13/01/2013 13:08

Hi RoLoh, have you tried a Velcro Swaddle? They're really thin so LO won't overheat. We've got a summer swaddleme, my LO won't sleep on her own unless swaddled, day or night. It's not too late to introduce it Smile

ValiumQueen · 13/01/2013 13:17

sophia those star things are lovely. There is so much more available, and at much better prices compared to just 6 years ago when I had my first.

KissysUnderTheMisteltoe · 13/01/2013 13:22

Love those star wraps sophia! Not a bad price too, might have to get one Smile

applepieinthesky · 13/01/2013 13:34

RoLoh my LO won't sleep in his moses basket either. He currently sleeps in his pram at nights! Soon he will be getting too big for it so I think it's time we take his swinging crib upstairs and try him in that. He sleeps really well at the moment though and I don't want to ruin it but best to do it now.

It's fricking freeeeeezing outside. Mum and Dad came round to see DS so I used the opportunity to take the dog out for an hour. Been back half an hour and still can't warm up. Brrrrr......

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/01/2013 14:21

I loved the star wraps, they do the same job as the Morrck really but are cheaper!

Bryzoan · 13/01/2013 14:32

On conjunctivitis - dd1 had that before Christmas - it was awful and didn't respond to antibiotics. Her eyelids are still red - thigh not are if from the infection or irritation from the drops, which she hated.. I ran myself ragged and gave myself eczema washing my hands a billion times a day to try and protect g - but he still got it. I tried the breastmilk thing on him (after putting it in my eyes first) and it cleared it brilliantly. Didn't even end up taking him to the docs.

TheDetective · 13/01/2013 15:11

Sophia I saw that site advertised in a baby magazine I bought no idea why I don't do magazines! and I loved the star wraps! Have been very tempted, but keep dithering about getting one - same as I dithered over the morrck! Suspect it is because the monster seems to overheat a lot!

Oscar seems to have found his fingers for sucking on in the last few days - keep finding them in his mouth, chomping away on them! I offer him the dummy, but it gets spat out!

StuntNun · 13/01/2013 16:25

Can I ask which teats their babies are using? J only has a couple of bottles a week and DM said he was fussing and struggling with it yesterday. I wonder whether the Avent 1 teat is now too slow for him and I should switch to size 2? He's eight weeks and 11 1/2 pounds.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/01/2013 16:27

bryzoan LO has been known to get breast milk in her eyes daily on occasion due to overenthusiastic boobs. It seems to have flared up so quickly though bless her. Luckily she didn't seem to mind the drops too much, I just hope they do the job!

applepie I tick many bad mummy boxes (won't list them out of fear...), sleeping in car seats/prams is quite high up the list! Like you said though, at least he;s getting some sleep.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/01/2013 16:30

stunt I accidentally gave LO the size 2 teats (she's 7 wks and 8lbs 2) and she was fine - I think the slow is probably slower than breast feeding anyway (see post above Blush)

StuntNun · 13/01/2013 16:35

Thanks BP, I'll try him on the next size up then. I've run out of bottles to store milk but I'm used to expressing daily now so I might ask DH to give J his 10ish feed while I go to bed early after only five hours sleep last night.

OP posts:
BigPigLittlePig · 13/01/2013 16:43

I was just thinking "5 hours, gosh that's awful poor thing" then totalled up what I had and realised that with 3 feeds between 12 and 7, I in fact had similar. And there was me thinking it was a good night!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 13/01/2013 17:15

I used a size 1 teat to give B her first bottle the other day stunt and it took her 30 mins to take 3 ounces. She normally only takes 10 mind for a breastfeed so I think my LO would need size 2 or 3. Boobs are defo faster than bottles.

TheDetective · 13/01/2013 17:35

Stunt We have just put Oscar up to size 2 teats after lots of fussing, and regressing back to 3 hourly feeds and taking 2-3oz instead of 4oz. He is now taking 4-6oz with the size 2 teats. I just waited til I saw these signs as I remember Horsey posting about them a few weeks back. He was 7 weeks to the day when I changed them.

I'd like to moan about this please! Back in the day 10 years ago! there was none of this crap about changing teats. DS1 had variable flow ones from the outset, and that was that. I remember that different flows were available, but this was to your babys preference, not age. Maybe I'm going crackers. Or got it all wrong all those years ago probably but DS was great with the variable flow ones, he downed his feeds at breakneck speed, had very little wind, never had to stop during a feed etc, I don't ever remember a vomit incident. In all, he was the perfect bottlefeeder Blush. Oscar in comparison is a rubbish feeder! I looked at trying to get the variable flow teats this time, but they say they are for thickened feeds. Pffft.

StuntNun · 13/01/2013 17:37

How did she manage TooMany? It took J a while to get used to bottles, he kept trying to latch on to them. I think he has nipple confusion but in reverse IYKWIM which is good for me as he will take a bottle but he's not that enthusiastic about it without actually refusing it.

Um. I just came across some twatfaced mumsnetter who posted the following about us on the 'Shite people say on mumsnet' thread:

'Must confess to being fucking gobsmacked that 'active threads' keeps showing the Nov 12 'antenatal gang' thread, they have called it 'are they sleeping through yet?' they're fucking 3 months old FFS.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news/shatter any illusions but you might need to manage your collective expectations for a full nights kip quite a way backwards gang.'

I would like to reply a suitably scathing comment like fuck off and eat shit as this person has clearly had a sense of humor bypass, but the thread is full. Bastards.

She sounds like a misery guts - stuff her

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/01/2013 17:53

Am knackered. I did go out last night and luckily E slept for most of the time so my DM was happy. However she refused the bottle so went over 4 hours without a feed. She was fine but that's by no means ideal.

So it was a late night and then it was DD1's birthday party this afternoon. Was fun but tiring! She's 3 on Tuesday. It's such a cliche but time really does fly!

Re bumbos, DD1 loved hers. I lent it too a friend so reminds me to get it back off her. Will be quite some while before E is able to use it though.

DH is just bathing a rather manic DD so I'm having a bit of peace whilst feeding E. Going to get a Chinese take away tonight. I've not managed to do much healthy eating so far this year what with all the left over Xmas choccie and now left over party food. Think the healthy diet and exercise plan will have to start in February!

FreddieMercurysBolero · 13/01/2013 17:54

aagh stop talkng you lot! I've taken 2 days to catch up and I've forgotten everything I've read already. My head has stopped working altogether - I was updating my CV the other day and forgot what I wrote my dissertation on last year. I thought I would never ever forget about the damned thing...

What an arse Detective - if it bothers her that much she can hide the topic.

Ro - DS1 never slept without his arms tucked into a groan until he was two maybe you could try that?

Going to try and express some milk and give L his first bottle tomorrow - I hate expressing but want to see if he'll take a bottle just in case I get offered the job of my dreams tomorrow... fat chance

PetiteRaleuse · 13/01/2013 17:58

Detective I saw that yesterday and did think about replying. It was a very twattish patronising comment.

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/01/2013 17:59

Haha detective would love to tell her there are plenty of us on here that get a decent amount of sleep and E has technically slept through by doing 6 hrs straight (although personally I don't count that). She just sounds bitter and jealous Smile

FreddieMercurysBolero · 13/01/2013 18:01

a groan. Ffs. A GROBAG. Grin
