DD is still awake. Singing in bed. She's going to be one tired girl in the morning. I think she hasn't realised that the holiday lie ins have stopped and opting for play over sleep won't work as I'll be making her get up at 7. I think she would have preferred a life of later nights and lie ins. I'd have gladly bought into that....damn you having to work to qualify for pension!!

The modelling behaviour in the article is how I hope I have been with my dcs. I have made a point to say please and thank you (and I'm sorry, when appropriate) to ds and now dd, and people have commented on how polite ds is (not always, believe me, but to other people he is). However, I do think some prompting is necessary so they learn when it is necessary as very small children. With both of them, I have done the "what do you say" thing, when they want something, and after they get it, and it has paid off. I hate bad manners, but I appreciate what the article says about needing meaning behind it and not just being empty words.

Dd has been absolutely hysterical (to watch) with the whole 'mine' thing. Everything ds touched was 'Mine!'. And it hardly ever was, naturally, as he's been here a lot longer! Now it's 'that's my xxxxx' but you can mostly reason with her about stuff. Her latest thing is, "Mummy, what you doing?"

DS has a life of late nights and lie-ins, and it works for us. He still gets a good number of hours sleep in, and I don't think it matters when this is. How long til you retire, Spook?

DS is polite in his sleep! He stirred the other night and said 'Mummy, find my train set, please, pleeease!'. :)

Haha! So cute! DS doesn't have any competition for his stuff yet! Unless you count his father, who likes some of DS's toys as much as DS does!

Dd3 wants the big girls stuff. She's currently pinched a 'strictly' book, a book with a girl with the same name as her & dd2s doll.

3.7 years til I retire Lentil. But factor in accumulated leave, resettlement and terminal leave they give me, it will be closer to 3 years . My new job is great and hopefully will be a good transition. I shall be leaving in DD's first year at school so she won't have to move about with me and we can settle in one place.

Chocolate skills course on today and I have a plate of beautiful chocs that look like they've come out of a chocolaterie sat at my desk. Took some trifle home the other day made by one of the basic chef trainees. DD loved it. It featured all her favourite components! The chef has made a fruit salad first in the day so that was used in the trifle which was lovely. Although I am not the biggest fan of sponge soaked in jelly. Carrageen moss jelly is really good though and DD loves it.

Hopefully not. This job gets me out and about a fair amount which is troubling to manage with DD as DH is not here during the week, but its all national stuff, like the week after next going to the NEC for a competition. Fortunately DD's nursery is open from 0730 to 1830 so I have some flexibility but I may need to get an au pair or mother help so I have more flexibility and DD can be in nursery less. But I am quite shy really so don't fancy sharing my home with someone. I like my own company.

3.7 years and counting then! Three years is even better! I retired on my 36th birthday! :)
I'd hate to have someone live in too, apart from DH obviously! And the little one! :)

Have just made fairy cakes (I REFUSE to call them cupcakes!!!!) for Ds's party tomorrow. There are, including him and dd, 45 children coming..... plus two 1 year olds. Jesus H. I had one reply this evening - really hope the four or five who haven't replied don't all show up as I only have 48 matching plates/cups etc. Two lovely friends have also made cakes for me, bless them. I have to say, I will be one happy woman when 5pm arrives. We are going out tomorrow evening with friends and I am very much looking forward to it!

Ooh! Those bikes with seats for toddlers are really popular here. Never saw many in the UK. Enjoy your new wheels!

She loves 'my oom' was up at 3am cos she'd done a poo ( v unusual for night time) but wanted to go straight back to her bed without even speaking to dh.

How cute Ood 'my oom' . DD has her own oom but not a big bed, she has a cotbed that converts but currently loves the security. When we stayed with a friend in December who is a childminder, DD had a choice of beds and chose the cot. I think she finds the lack of sides on a normal bed a bit scary.

Too busy to get the bike today. I hope to do it tomorrow!

Just had a tomato soup made by one of the students. Too salty. Am now mainlining water....

that sounds like a good idea. is it a full sized single bed or a kiddie one?

She's only got a small room ( and isn't going to be big either!) so it's a short 2ft6 bed. I'm 5ft and got in with her ok last night ( bump was in the way though!

how lovely. DD is currently in bed singing. It's freezing cold here. Shamelessly using a dog for warmth..they have lovely toasty arm pits...or leg pits I suppose they should be called.

DD has had 6 accidents in 8 days at nursery. So she's sporting bruised knees, the forehead bruise and graze have almost gone, then she's got a deep grey horizontal bruise on one cheek where she tripped over another child and fell on a chair, then yesterday, she got bitten by another child on her other cheek, so she has an angry red mark. I am not surprised they have to document every accident as if I took her to the docs or a&e for something, she'd be covered! Other than that though, she's settled in brilliantly. She hasn't mentioned her old childminder at all, apart from her 2 dogs which she talks about all the time.

I love all the different toddler pronunciations, like 'oom'. My favourites of DD are camel for all cardigans and coats, ock for sock and peeeeaasseee mummy!

I love the learning to speak too it's so entertaining although it's accompanied by the knowing their own mind which isnt always fun.
