That is not much for her age Kayz. It is normal to reduce feeds yes but that is very little. I know you can't force her to feed but do try to offer, perhaps offering at snack times before showing her the food!

McKayz · 21/03/2013 14:36

She fed almost non stop between 3-4am last night. I'd rather not be up all night instead of daytime feeds.

Indith · 21/03/2013 14:56

Haha! Probably just too much going on in the day!

Mind you ds2 likes to be clamped to my nipple all night (and I really do mean all night. From 7pm to 7am) and a good part of the day too!

McKayz · 21/03/2013 14:59

She doesn't like DH. She tries to get away from him all the time. Sad so I'm not getting a break as she still screeches if I need the toilet or need to leave the room.

Indith · 21/03/2013 15:25

Sad . it will pass though, she isn't too young for separation anxiety. my dh doesn't work away but ds2 still clings to me like a limpet and shouts at dh if he picks him up at the moment!

McKayz · 21/03/2013 15:32

MIL said she'd look after the DCs when we are holiday to go out for dinner for our 1st Anniversary. It'll be a disaster.

beans37 · 21/03/2013 18:28

I have a poo-related question, probably for more medical types... Sorry!
I have had squits for nearly a week now. It's not terrible but comes on after every meal. I'm not worried about me, more the baby. Do you think it'll affect it.

Also poo-related, DD1 has had squits for almost as long and had a high temperature a few days ago. She's ok now, but still getting terrible cramps on and off and doing weird snot-like poos, kind of mucus-y and gross. Any ideas about that either?

Sorry to just duck in and be selfish, but am fretting. More about DD1 than me, but either or is good!

Sorry!

OP posts:
beans37 · 21/03/2013 18:30

PS DD1's squits only happening once or twice a day max and she's drinking loads of water and eating lots of bread!

OP posts:
beans37 · 21/03/2013 22:02

Killed it. Bugger. Just had to hand wash two pairs of poo soiled pants at 2am. The joys.

Vagolajahooli · 22/03/2013 09:22

Sorry Beans only just checked in. The biggest problem with the squits is it dehydrates you & makes getting your vitamins a bit tricky. Don't worry about bub as your body will make sure he/she is ok. Just keep up the fluids and when you can eat ok just catch up on nutrition then. Make sure you get lots of good oils when your feeling better. Same with DD1 keep up fluids and let her eat what she wants. Crisps are good right now lots if salt & carbs. Unfortunately the squits hang around long after the original bug has gone. There are some bugs that can cross the blood placental barrier but not that many so you should be fine in that area. When do you fly back? Flying can be very dehydrating so make sure you drink regularly, but don't skull water take regular sips. Apple juice is good but steer clear of citrus juices.

Artichook · 22/03/2013 10:05

The squirts are a bigger Beans. Are they ruining your holiday? If you or DD1 feel ill with them you might need antibiotics. I got terrible squirts in Egypt and needed 2 types of ABs to sort me out.

Gosh this weather is depressing. It's the end of March and the temp of a cold January. Given we had a cold summer and winter set in by early October I can hardly remember what it's like to be warm and enjoy taking the kids to the park. Come on sun!!!!

I hope everyone is well. Where are LadyT and Rubes?? They are being in characteristically quiet.

Artichook · 22/03/2013 10:06

Squirts???? I mean squits thank you predictive text. And bugger not bigger.

Indith · 22/03/2013 13:19

Squits do squirt Grin

I'm sorry Beans, how rubbish. I hope it passes soon. I had horrible squits in early pregnancy with ds1 If anything passed my lips it cam e right back out again a few mins later, water included. Ice lollies are good as they trickle down plus have sugar in etc to help give you a little energy. And the advantage of them in holiday is that if you buy named brand ones you know they are from clean water (can't remember where you are and if that could be an issue).

beans37 · 22/03/2013 14:23

Thanks for wise words. Will get DD1 eating some crisps and we're mostly giving her rice and bread to eat, which is all she really wants. It's not ruining our holiday too much. Mine's really fine until I eat, then I have to poo straight after! I didn't eat much or feel like it for 3 days but now fine. A lot less fat than I would have been otherwise! Poor DD1 keeps getting cramps and has pooed her pants a few times, thinking it was just a fart, or we were just a weeny bit too far from a loo. But she's remarkably upbeat and chipper, just says the odd heart-breaker, like "I just wish I could be better, Mummy". DH being a superstar and doing majority of childcare so I'm reading like a trooper. 5 books since we arrived!!

Heading back tomorrow on an overnight flight. We don't even leave for the airport til 9pm, so suspect girls may be a bit fractious, to say the least. Dreading coming back to the weather.

Honestly, I'm genuinely so sorry the weather's so shit for everyone and am not looking forward to the drop in temperature.

Arti, you're so right about winter starting in October. I don't know if I'm tainted by history, but Dad died on 6th October and I think winter started then. Certainly mine did, and this holiday has been a fantastic break, but it's still winter in real life! Wow, I'm being a bit deep!! I've thought about him a lot these last couple of weeks and it's been rather lovely and also sad. I think when I get back, I'm going to try to make myself look back happily and be thankful for the happy times, which were so many. And start looking forward, not back.

Sorry, me me me.

Kayz, how is DD today?

poisondwarf · 23/03/2013 14:17

Hello everyone!

I've missed you. Beans I don't know if I've even congratulated you on your pregnancy yet! How rubbish am I? Just popping on quickly though as have been neglecting DCs all day and need to get them out of the house. Have just done a massive pointless neurotic post elsewhere on MN so thought I'd better slink in here and show my face Blush

Hope everyone is well. I've got Easter week off so I might have a chance to catch up then.

In the meantime sorry for rubbish post. But we should meet up soon ... I'm much better at that!

McKayz · 23/03/2013 20:31

Beans, I hope you and DD1 are feeling better. Also hope you had a fabulous holiday.

DD has been feeding during the day for the past 2 day so thats back to normal. DH is still hated, she tried to push him out of bed thi morning. Grin She is happy to be fed by him but nothing else.

JamInMyWellies · 23/03/2013 22:20

Lady are you lurking? When you went to Egypt where did you stay. Thinking of booking a very last min hol there for easter wk.

Artichook · 23/03/2013 22:40

Jam - I've been to Sharm quite a few times and Dahab once. I've also spent some time in Cairo. Never with kids though. Although a friend is in Sharm with her 18 month old at the moment and is having a fab time. Where were you thinking of going?

Lovely to briefly see you PD. What was your long post about?

Quick question: would you guys go for a night away in Somerset (nearly 3 hours drive from London) at 38 weeks preggers? The inlaws have offered to have the girls for a night (they have never offered before) so that DH and I can have a last night of freedom before the baby. But the only date we can all do is 14 days before my due date. Happily that coincides with the availability of a cheap room in my fav everr hotel, but I am a but worried that travel at 38 weeks is reckless.

JamInMyWellies · 23/03/2013 23:09

Go arti. If it kicks off you won't be far from a hospital. The thought of a child free night is in my books always a do. I would do it even at 40wk Grin

We are looking at sharm. Just need some family time with sunshine.

sybilfaulty · 24/03/2013 08:54

Arti, I'd go. Take your notes and your hospital bag just in case but definitely go. Nice hotel, lovely dinner, glass of wine - just what you need before the baby. Make sure you know the nearest hospital and a quick route for the taxi and it'll be fine.

Jam - family sunshine sounds lovely. Never been to Egypt though but heard good things. I am sorry no 3 isn't happening for you right now. Fingers crossed it happens soon.

Hideous cold and cough here - on week no 4! Really annoyed. Never mind, only 4 days to go til I get a week off work. Hurray!

Have a peaceful Sunday lovely girls. And welcome back Beans.

poisondwarf · 24/03/2013 13:30

Arti it's a very dull thread about DS and Year 1 maths - it's here - feel free to chip in there or on here if you have any pearls of wisdom and half an hour to read through my waffle! Actually I saw you'd posted about DD's maths - DS does the number inversion thing too. I just wish I knew if any of it mattered! Hate getting so neurotic but not really sure I trust the school to do the best for DS tbh. Yawn.

I travelled quite a lot at 38 weeks as my dad was in hospital then I went away for a few days in the New Forest. It was fine but I didn't have any potential complications on the horizon so it's different I suppose (plus I was convinced I was going past my due date which turned out not to be true). But if you had to give birth elsewhere I don't think that would necessarily be the end of the world would it? But it would be a PITA sorting out what to do with the girls I suppose and if you had to stay in hospital a while it wouldn't be ideal. Still, it would be a story DC3 would love to hear about when they're a bit older. Mine love hearing about anything to do with me being pg / giving birth to them. Personally I would go but it's whatever you feel comfortable with.

Kayz that must be hard for DH (and you of course). How long is he back for this time?

Vag I've somehow missed that you've started a Masters (is it a Masters?) - what is it in and how's it going?

And Indith have you started your course now?

spot I saw on here or fb that little B was going into hossie. Is he okay? How did the endoscopy go and did they find out anything?

jj how was your first night away? I've only recently starting having nights away since DD was born (first one in December & 2 since). I've only done 1 night at a time so far but I miss them loads.

Jam you jammy git - I wish I was off for some Easter sunshine. We can't afford sunshine any more since DS started school (take note those with only preschoolers - get your sunshine in now or be prepared to be bankrupted). We are going to spend 3 nights in a caravan in Great Yarmouth for Easter weekend (also DS's birthday). Even that was £350! Looks like the weather is going to be very cold and rainy/snowy still by then. Grim. God I neeeed some sun - really starting to feel 2 winters of no sun and not much summer in between.

Do/would any of you take your DCs out of school in term time for hols? I think I might have to consider it at some point.

Hello to everyone else. Where's LadyT? And Rubes?

poisondwarf · 24/03/2013 13:33

Oh sorry Jam in all my waffle I forgot the point I was going to make which was that I'd recommend Sharm. We went to Naama Bay (the very touristy bit) a few times pre-DCs and I think it would be lovely for littlies.

Indith · 24/03/2013 13:48

Art go for it, it will be lovely! Take your notes and bag with you just in case.

I am a bag of stress and nerves and I feel sick. Sick, stomach cramps, the squits, cold.....I just want to hide. Can't believe I start tomorrow with a child in the throws of major separation anxiety who has so far done nothing but scream a his childminder. I've left her with my ring sling and bless her she was planning on going to the sling library yesterday for some tips.

Kayz poor dh. I hope he isn't blaming himself for working away. As I said before ds2 is not very happy with dh at the moment either, he just launches himself at me all the time, these sorts of phases happen regardless.

I need some fecking sunshine. It is so cold!

poisondwarf · 24/03/2013 14:12

Ooh good luck for tomorrow Indith. Remind me how old DS is now? I can imagine how you must be feeling. I remember well the feeling before mat leave ended both times, and I was only leaving them with DP. Still, you're doing something you want to do and it's going to be great for your future and your family's. Not sure I could cope with studying these days - I admire anyone who goes back to it with DCs. I'm doing a management course at work at the moment which I have to do assignments for. It's not a hard course but the assignments take up a lot of time and I get quite resentful of it.

Indith · 24/03/2013 14:19

He just turned 1 this month and is a small limpet.
