Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 10:52

Yeah Kayz I knew where it was I used to go clubbing in a club in the arches under the railway line there. But CNN with their usual sensational reporting is over egging it a little. London is practically shut down and in chaos according to their reports. I know Vauxhall is close in but it's not quite central London is it. I mean come on, its sarf of the river for goodness sake Grin

Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 10:54

I think it is close to Artis work, but across the river but I think she's at the clinic. I would just like news stations to just report the news rather than make something it isn't. It freaks people out.

Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 10:55

Maybe we need sky news, is it good? We used to get the English Al Jazeera and I quite liked that.

Indith · 16/01/2013 10:55

well done vag. Study buddies!

I do like craft, I just thought the kirstie thing was out of reach for most people. i used to bead a lot and do some embroidery but not done any for ages. i need to learn to knit and crochet as I need osmething easy to get out and do in front of the TV that cna be dumped in a bag without any major putting away. Trouble wiht beadds is while I love it you need somewhere to be able to leave it all out when working on something and we don't have space for that so I gave it all to my mum. I have my embroidery silks still though and a half done lovely cross stitch medieval lady that I last worked on when I was about 20 so mybe I need ot get her back out and finish her!

Indith · 16/01/2013 10:58

I think thakffully damage has been pretty limited with the crash. Such a shame.

The advantage of dh working from home, he has appeared and closed the curtain and given me the remote Grin

Indith · 16/01/2013 10:59

A shame about the crash. Not a shame the damage is not wide spread. Blush

ShadyLadyT · 16/01/2013 11:08

I think Arti will be ok actually. Shocking crash though. Blasted fog. Helicopters seem so dangerous at the best of times.

Arti, I am pleased to hear Kirstie has some RL good points! But the more I hear about that making show, the happier I am that I didn't watch Grin Hey, I didn't know that hand gels don't kill Noro! That is really good to know!

Rubes, it would be lovely to see you and the kids, I will text you.

Vag, re: the unit - yep, am fiercely pro-choice as long as people have all the facts, you are so right. But frankly I think that unit is too far from a hospital if doctor intervention is required, for mother or baby. When DD2 had her first nut reaction, we were told at the hospital that we are amongst the worst served by hospitals in the country (along with some parts of Devon & Cornwall). It would take about 40 mins for us to drive to the John Radcliffe, 30 odd to Banbury! As the mother of a child who needs to carry an epipen, it frightens the bejaysus out of me. There's a midwife unit at St Mary's where I had the girls, I hear it's popular. But at least you're on top of the main hozzie if you need a doc/surgery/fancy equipment. Anyway, there's a petition to get the midwives at the local unit reinstated but it's all a bit confusing.

Yes, well done on the course Vag! So what will you do when it's completed - are you doing it for the love or to re-enter the workplace?

DeidreBarlow · 16/01/2013 13:10

The helicopter crash is awful!

Vag I have several friends who are craft obsessed! In fact the church I go to all female socials involve craft which irritates the shit out of me tbh. Fortunately there are a few that also prefer the pub and a few winesGrin

Also I went to a club in Vauxhall a few times in my clubbing days vag - it could well have been the same one!!

Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 15:11

It was called Crash, in particular I used to go to a club night called Fish @ crash. We used to stand in line to under that bridge. There was another one which was closer to the station but I can't remember what it was called.

I wander what they blew the whistles about? Maybe they have had safety concerns too. Why is there so little health availability around you?

Arti I did think they were trying to reduce inductions & CSs before 39 weeks? Either they very concerned or being super cautious. How are you feeling?

Sorry about the spews Spot.

Just took the boys sledging in the sand dunes near the beach. Was great fun and on the walk back through the forest we found one of the Highland cows. So cute those creatures.

Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 15:23

Oh & Lady I'm hoping to eventually do a PhD, I want to compare well child developmental & health monitoring in a few different countries to see if we coud apply a better model in Australia.

ShadyLadyT · 16/01/2013 15:50

Just a quirk of geography, Vag. The two Oxfordshire hospitals are too far, as are Gloucester/Cheltenham/Reading. But when the old Cotswold Mat Unit in Chipping Norton (I think it did a bit of other stuff too, not much) closed, they had a great opportunity to site one closer to a hospital. But they built a brand new one 400 yards away. Daft! I don't know what the two midwives whistleblew about - "safety concerns" - although anecdotally I heard quality of other staff and ambulance journey times!

Sledging is fun but I've gone off it since the broken ribs lasy year Grin

beans37 · 16/01/2013 16:06

Lady, you didn't elaborate on your quandary re 2 or 3 DCs... I think if you are tempted, you should probably go for it! Hee hee.... Can you tell I want another preggy person to join Arti and me!

Just been doing face painting with girls. V proud of myself for not just switching telly on straight after swimming! We've done finger painting and face painting!

That sounds extremely interesting and worthwhile, Vag.good for you.

ShadyLadyT · 16/01/2013 16:14

Oh Beans, same old reasons I've been blabbing on about: money, feeling spread too thin and harrassed, dreading the sleepless nights and weight gain, having less time to cherish the girls. Against that - er...I love kids and I just really want another Grin

McKayz · 16/01/2013 16:36

Do it Lady!! I read on here you'll never regret having a baby but you might always regret not having a baby.

DeidreBarlow · 16/01/2013 16:40

I have no idea what the club was called, I was visiting friends. It was dance/trance music. I was quite a raver back in the dayGrin

Oh well done on the return to studying.

JamInMyWellies · 16/01/2013 17:58

Cocking nora its cold.

Rubena · 16/01/2013 19:56

Sure cocking is....!

Vagolajahooli · 16/01/2013 21:00

For cocks sake its freezing. It got down to -8 today its -4 right now. Poor ds2 is finding it a bit too much I think. Also he is pretty tired from school.

McKayz · 16/01/2013 21:07

It was -6 on the way to school this morning. DS2 cried all the way home, he's not cut out for winter. Despite wanting to go skiing.

JamInMyWellies · 16/01/2013 21:10

My two love it. Had to spend 20 mins explaining to DS2 this morning that he needed to put a hoody on with his short sleeved tshirt and that a coat was non negotiable. Nutter!

I would like a bit of proper snow though.

Is DS2 enjoying school vag?

Indith · 16/01/2013 21:23

We've been having great fun in all the snow :)

I think I've got the clothing right this year, I've struggled a bit with them getting cold before but this year it is ski mittens with long cuffs under their coats and the alpaca wool welly socks in the snow boots are working a treat, no cold feet = no cold children I reckon.

Student loans is making me want to commit suicide. Nice lady on phone said I'd get teh basic bit then the rest would be NHS bursary. I've just completed the student loans form and it came out as £0. Phone again tomorrow. I really need to get all my stuff sent off for the NHS bursary but don't want to until student loans sorted so I can send the right bits of paperwork to the right people. ARGH!
