As a few of us have popped early I thought I'd start us a post-natal thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

AwKe and starving :(
Having the night from hell, DD won't settle and is in pain. Had to have dinner standing with her in the sling and have been holding her all night.
Plus all the pharmacies here have ran out of baby gaviscon, so we re jumping with no parachute at the mo, with disastrous effect...

I could do with a few milky ways, that sounds lovely!

Lostbobbles · 14/02/2013 05:12

I'm awake!! What a night had little grunter on my left and a drunk DH on my right snoring his head off, would of been quieter on a farm.

Sent DH packing to the spare room in the end.
Tell you what I could if done with a cream egg to lob at his head AngryShock

then little grunter starts screaming so gave and put her on my chest to sleep and then silence!!!

mrsbugsywugsy · 14/02/2013 05:16

awake again, just dealt with a 5am poosplosion, and STILL no chocolateSad

mrsbugsywugsy · 14/02/2013 05:17

happy valentine's day everyone Grin Thanks

Tugstonia · 14/02/2013 05:51

Thanks all Thanks. My dp has been an absolute star and has taken dd after every feed through the night so I can sleep. He's just handed her to me and crashed out but that's fair enough! B'feeding def hurting less since the snip which is something.

Tinkle hope you're ok, must be so distressing for you.

Happy valentines day all :)

Bunny222 · 14/02/2013 06:11

Morning girls. All this chocolate talk is making me peckish! Sounds like a few of you have had rotten nights, tinkle and mara hope your ok and hanging in there.

Have started using Infacol with feeds to ease LOs discomfort after feeding, hes been moaning and squirming, screwing his face up. Have been rubbing his tummy but didnt really do that much.

Fourth feed in and there seems to be an imvement.

Feel like im becoming a recluse havent left the house since sunday. Will make myself go out today

Bunny222 · 14/02/2013 06:12

Posted before finished! Has anyone else felt daunted by the outside now DHs are back at work?

Pascha · 14/02/2013 08:59

I was awake through most of your posts but I have a crappy slow phone that won't load threads this long. I have no chocolate but I do have a little toddler with gunky eyes that he couldn't open this morning Sad.

mrsbugsywugsy · 14/02/2013 09:16

bunny it took me a while to leave the house alone after dp went back to work.it was the week when it snowed and I felt pretty trapped. once you are able to get out everything seems so much better.

Lora1982 · 14/02/2013 10:03

Nyaaw i got a valentines from dexter, see he is grateful i get up at all hours for him :-D

Birdies · 14/02/2013 10:10

Been laughing at the awake and chocolate posts! I was awake too but would have to go and put Internet on and start up laptop so won't be doing night time posts!

Right, my DD sleeps for most of the day. Does anyone know if this affects night time sleeping? (Dont hate me, this doesn't mean she's not crying or feeding, it's just she has her eyes shut still!). Anyways, do you reckon I should keep her awake a bit more in the day to get her to sleep more at night?

bunty it rubs under my arms. Around the fat bits :(. Ends up red and sore by the end of the day. I used to wear a 36 or 38 which didn't rub, but rode up at the back. Apparently I'm a 34 at most. With humongous boobs (FF).

tinkle that sounds like an improvement but still must be so tough for you. She does sound like a typical baby though wanting to be carried all the time, maybe she likes the comfort after being in so much pain. Do you have a carrier? I use the babybjorn one all morning, it's great and frees up my hands to do other things. In the afternoon I've got her sleeping in a swing, nicely swaddled. It took a while for her to get used to it but she likes it now. You may have tried all of this but thought I'd say just in case....

tinkletinklestar · 14/02/2013 10:41

birdies

I have a babasling, I need to get dh to help me figure it out.

Dd has decided she likes sleeping on her front, she slept 10-5 on her front in her moses basket..she did that for dh with one feed at 1am. Little monkey, im hoping it spells the end for the nightmare few weeks.

I definitely think awake time in the day effects the night, I remember with dd1 the health visitor said she had them mixed up.

octanegirl · 14/02/2013 11:40

I feel like a traitor amongst you poor peeps who are having night time hell....because my baby goes to sleep every night at 1130 on the dot, and is now only waking at about 4.30/5!
BUT he won't sleep in his cot during the day, only in his bouncy chair or in the sling/car. I expect this is going to bite me in the ass soon......

mrsbugsywugsy · 14/02/2013 11:47

birdies dd also sleeps a lot in the day. she normally has awake time in the mornings and evenings and sleeps in the middle of the day. I don't force her to wake up but do try to distinguish between night and day-so in the daytime she is in the same room as me, with lights and music on. I'd be interested to hear what others do.

BuntyCollocks · 14/02/2013 11:54

birdies sounds to me like the style of the bra doesn't suit rather than the size!

Birdies · 14/02/2013 11:56

bugsy the only way I can get DD to sleep somewhere other than on me during the day is in a darkened quiet room.....which is probably why she thinks its nighttime! I may change that.....though I like the time off! She also only has wakey time first and last thing. Then in the early hours I look across and her little eyes are open.....then she has a cry and the cycle starts again of winding, feeding, winding, cuddling, eyes shut, fast asleep, move to cot, eyes open....!!

Birdies · 14/02/2013 11:57

bunty - boo, it was bloody expensive!

ChutesTooNarrow · 14/02/2013 12:03

Rory sleeps a lot (sorry!). I leave her to it, and don't wake her. She is always in the same room as me. Daytime I kept bright and noisy, and her three year old brother is wonderful at assisting with the noisy bit. Night time is dark and quiet. I'm taking her up to bed around 9 at the moment and I just read while she feeds or sleeps. She is waking two hourly for a feed but it is slowly stretching out. What makes a massive difference compared to DS is that I feed her, plonk her back down in the bed and she goes to sleep with no faff. This was not my experience last time!

Birdies · 14/02/2013 12:10

I just thought I'd try putting her in her Moses basket in the lounge which is bright and noisy cos of other DD....and she's stayed asleep! I think I'm rubbish at trying different things as I guess they're changing all the time as they get older.

Has everyone booked in for 8 week jabs? Not looking forward to those....

ChutesTooNarrow · 14/02/2013 12:14

birdies I would take it back if its hurting you, especially as it was a pricy one. It shouldn't be injuring you!

BuntyCollocks · 14/02/2013 12:37

Agree with chutes, birdies - take it back and get them to change it. I'm taking back a nursing bra this weekend as I told them it wasn't right and I got it confirmed by the independent bra store I use back up home.

happyhow · 14/02/2013 12:38

Bugsy, I do the same. He's having a bit of a clingy day today so he's not liking being transferred to the basket. He usually has a bit of awake time in the morning and sleeps in the afternoon then doesn't fall asleep after his tea time feed so we (mostly hubby so I get a break) play with him til his night time feed and he drops off happily for at least 4 hrs.

Trying to get him happy at the moment so that I can get dressed and go and get our traditional Markies meal deal for Valentines!!! Smile

Birdies · 14/02/2013 13:30

I've had the bra for a while now though :(

So how many hours are your babbas awake during the day and how well do they sleep at night? I just want to see if the best night sleepers are awake more in the day....

I'll start:

Day: Total of 4 hours wakey time (1.5 morning and 2.5 evening)
Night: mostly - 3 hours sleep, then 2 hours, then unsettled and feeding on and off for rest of the night

ChutesTooNarrow · 14/02/2013 13:56

Dd is awake for 45mins in the morning. Then she is awake for about ten minutes several times a day when she has woken for a feed and has a nappy change. Then she can be awake for up to two hours in the evening, and I take her to bed as soon as she looks sleepy during this awake period.

Overnight she wakes to feed, normally does 2.5 hours at first, then every two. She can be a bit grumbly from around 6 and feed lots but will keep her eyes shut tight. We co-sleep and I feel like I am getting an adequate amount of sleep, although could quite happily curl up and sleep right now!

She is four weeks old.
