I went with Gary's suggestion, as it was quite awesome and indeed factual!

jigglebum · 03/02/2013 18:41

Faffin hope all goes wellfor you DD tomorrow. When DS had a GA for his grommets it was ok actually - the nurses were great.

Figgy - hope DS is feeling better. I cannot believe that is his first temperature. Freya is ill probably twice a month on average - with high temperature and cough/cold. We live on calpol it feels like. She has been particularly grotty today and I know she does not feel great but wish she would just go to sleep and sleep it off. When DS is ill all he wants to do is go to bed and sleep - not so with Freya. Sadly all our hard work and sleep progress is going out the window as she is ill again and thus wakes up again several times a night.

Figgygal · 03/02/2013 18:48

Well that was a first in months he fell asleep on me on the sofa ever since he was small he's had all naps in his bed, it was nice except for all the drool am utterly sodden!!

Another first ever but he refused his tea beef and veg ended up giving him a dry slice of toast to gum and a yoghurt I've never seen him look so sorry for himself Sad

Aethelfleda · 03/02/2013 19:09

Sympathy figgy and jiggle, hope your LOs pick up soon. We always have buckets of nurofen on standby, so much that when DD2 had a temperature this morning, I got out the neurofen and DS jiggled excitedly, pointed to the syringe and went "ahhh" Blush

Oneward and upwards. Tonight is going to be spent drafting emails to solicitor and est agent, and tomorrow is work interspersed with frequent bottom-kicking calls to all and sundry in an attempt to sort out a solution for exchange. If it doesn't work we will have to think hard about breaking the chain and selling with nowhere to go/temporary housing the five of us (gulp) or walking away (gulp again as means reselling).

EasilyBored · 03/02/2013 20:17

Sorry for the house woes aethel hope it all gets sorted soon!

Poor figgyboy temperatures and teething are pants!

Faffin good luck for your DD tomorrow, am sure it will be fine.

Monkey is possibly getting some molars I think? He's just got number 8 at the front, and he has been (sorry of this sounds mean) a miserable, whiney, foul beast the past few days. He had his MMR on Wed so I thought it could be that too but today his cheeks have been bright red all day, and he's just so clingy, he conked out on the sofa too figgy, there must be something in the water. I had a bad mummy morning; yesterday was DH's turn to get up with him, so he sleeps in until half seven. Today and every other day I have to get up...he's awake on and off from five. Seriously?! I was a grumpasaurous all morning, and snapped at him a lot. After his nap DH had him for a couple of hours and he was much chirpier until DH managed to let him fall face first off the sofa. There was blood and many tears. Oh, AND he fell over on the changing able AGAIN and has another bruise across his bum cheeks AGAIN. Nursery are going to call SS at this rate. I just wish we could get through one day where he didn't smack his face against something/trip over/fall into something. One day with no bruises isn't much to ask, surely?

In other more positive (?) news HA!, we went and got his first pair of shoes at the weekend. He hates wearing shoes. He will get used to them I'm sure, but when we put the first pair on him, he stood there, looking like his feet were glued to the floor for a full 3 minutes before bursting into tears.

Tomorrow is the start of a new week though, so big deep breaths and a large glass of wine. Oi stop this not-liking-alcohol nonsense. You just need to try harder!

Xiaoxiong · 03/02/2013 22:23

Oh aethel - so sorry the dreaded chain is proving such a headache. I'm also one who thinks your buyers are bluffing - to get to the point of exchange they must have had to expend some cash on surveys and solicitors and such and they would be fools to walk away now. I'm sure this is their attempt at trying to hurry the process along - too bad it just piles the stress on you though. I hope some of your calls tomorrow get things moving.

Oi glad the carpets scrubbed up well! We took the ones we had ripped out of the dining room and off the first flight of stairs to the tip today - was terribly therapeutic.

Easily really laughed reading your description - you could be describing DS to a T except for the shoes - mine loves shoes of all sorts (definitely comes with his X chromosome from me!)

Figgy DS refused dinner tonight as well - I had lovingly prepared rice with beef mince, red peppers, onion and garlic which he loved last week. This week - hurled to the floor and drooled out of mouth. So his dinner ended up being two rice cakes, a banana, about 200 blueberries and a sizeable chunk of apple pepperpot cake (from Jamie's Great Britain - usually don't get on with Jamie Oliver but this book is an absolute winner, probably because most of the recipes are not his but ones he was given by people around the country...)

I dipped my toe in the water over on the Oct 2013 ante-natal thread but I'm not sure I'll click with them as much as you lot...there's an awful lot of lol and hun and text speak so far, which makes me sound like an absolute bitch but I do genuinely find it harder to read Blush And I don't think they're as geeky as us - no Star Trek references to be found at all!

LittleMissFantabulous · 03/02/2013 23:14

I'm sorry I've not been contributing much. I am spaced out on the tramadol and I have also got no phone at the moment. Octoboy's reduced feeding has seen the return of my period and the monthly migraine that goes with it. Sad times:(

Hope that the operation goes well tomorrow Faffin If they're using gas and air to put her under before they do the cannula it shouldn't be too traumatic to observe. I'll offer a non-MN for you, as I feel it's a situation that warrants it.

Aethel I hope your buyers are less grumpy this week, and that the party went well.

I'm struggling to remember what else I wanted to say, so I shall sign off and go take more painkilers. I will be glad when my back gets it's act together!

OP posts:
QueenofClean · 04/02/2013 07:48

Faffin - Hope your DD is okay and gets thru the Op fine.

LMF - feel better soon & Octoboy let's you sleep.

Aethel - I agree sounds like buyers are bluffing. Hope you can get things moving today.

Xiao - If we are lucky enough to get a BFP next week, I'll be on the Oct 2013 thread with you Smile

Oi - I'm not a drinker but I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get back into the swing of it iykwim.

QueenofClean · 04/02/2013 07:48

Figgy - hope Figgyboy gets better really soon.

EasilyBored · 04/02/2013 08:01

We are all super cheerful this morning chez Bored as DS slept till gone half seven. We're even going to walk to baby group this morning! It's amazing what sleep can do for you!

Figgygal · 04/02/2013 08:05

I'm hanging this morning and much make up is required to look presentable at work today......that is all Smile

AnAirOfHope · 04/02/2013 08:42

Faffin thinking of you and dd today and sending posative vibs your way.

Aethel Hope there is posative forward movement on the house front this week and you get the outcome that is best for you.

LMF af sucks I feel your pain :( Hope you feel better soon

Queen only 4 days before your offically old Wink

Wishing everyone a happy and productive week and lots of choclate, wine and sleep :)

AnAirOfHope · 04/02/2013 08:46

Pompoms for EasilyBored ds :)

jigglebum · 04/02/2013 10:37

Ahhh think freya was awake more of the night than asleep -combined with cold we both feel shite today. Didnt want to break the cot/no milk habit we havegot into so had to keep going in.

faffin hope all goes well today.

xiao not sure if I have said congrats yet- great news.

aethel good luck with your chasing today- hope it all starts moving soon.

Those of you with older ones - how much tv/computer game time do you allow them? It is just becoming an issue with DS , who is 4. Previously he was great at playing with lego , toys etc but now seems to only want to watch tv/play on the computer and I am not keen. He goes to school so he only has after school. I am thinking of getting a timer and allowing one hour of choice and he can choose to watch tv, play computer games or both but only for an hour max each day, so he becomes more discriminating and will have to do other things too.

OiMissus · 04/02/2013 12:33

argh! My post just got swallowed.
Oh I haven't got the energy to write it all out again!
namechecking to faffin and operations - hope you muster the courage to get through it. all the best to you and your LO. and people being pg without knowing - HOW?
figgy - hope your LO is feeling better - and the others whose LO's are abstaining from food and sleep.
BOi has conjunctivitus again.
Yes, he has a pillow. It's very thin, but it raises his head slightly which must help him breathing as he always has a cold.
easily - we've had a few interesting bumps and scratches -we're going to have to get used to it I'm afraid. But BOI adores his shoes, and slippers, and our shoes, and grandparents' shoes.
Xiao - I have no patience with text speak. I know that language must evolve, but I'd rather it evolved nicely and cleverly.
I don't have much news, I was really poorly yesterday. My stomach was churning all day, and I was sick in the evening. I was useless and couldn't do a thing. I'm dying to POAS just in case, but it really can't be that. We have dtd since my last AF, but it was so soon after the AF that I can't be, can I? I hope I am. that would be nice. Anyway I haven't got a stick to p on (tee hee, that sounds like I'm very poor, doesn't it. ha ha . "Oh poor love, she hasn't even got a stick to pi$$ on".)
Am working from home today. Maybe I'll nip out this afternoon and buy a stick.

Faffin · 04/02/2013 12:35

Thanks for all the kind wishes. Pleased to report all went well. The nurse was brilliant at distracting her when she went under so she didn't get upset and I held it together too! Just waiting to talk to the surgeon now and will then head home this afternoon

OiMissus · 04/02/2013 12:59

Good stuff faffin - good to hear it. Bob bless the children's ward staff, and well done to you for holding it together.

Figgygal · 04/02/2013 13:13

Yay Faffin Jnr!! Keep strong and big hugs when she wakes up.

He was awake at least 4 times last night it was one of those nights where you lie on your bed in your dressing gown, glasses on for a minute while he settles next thing you know it's hours later and you are drooling as much as lo. Have just heard from CM he is very grumpy and dribbling like a tap but no need for us to rescue him yet, i might leave early and go pick him up. Just as well I am only interviewing graduates today .......bright eyed gonna change the world graduates with their little smiley faces while i survive on the provided biscuits. When you have eaten a packet of mini eggs by 9.30am you know your diet is going to fail badly that day.

DS needs to knock the screaming on the head or we will never convince dh dc2 is a good idea.

Feel better LMF

And xiao not sure if i said congrats or not but wow!! Were you trying for long?

GaryBuseysTeeth · 04/02/2013 13:58

Woo, good news Faffin! Hope you're out of there by the time I finish this.

Oi, how are able to concentrate without POAS!? Ahh go on, go on go on, go on..

Xiao, sympathies for the not as fantastic as us group hunbabes xxx

Hope you feel better soon LMF & you have a non-shite day/night Jiggle.

Scan is on Thursday, and I'm just willing the week away. Stupid monday being so long.
DH is looking at doing lots of overtime before the end of financial year, more money is lovely, but less DH is poo.

CheungFun · 04/02/2013 14:53

Hi everyone :)

Poor old DS is still teething and not eating a great deal :( Today he woke up at 6.50am, had a two hour nap at 9.00am and has been asleep since 1.00pm. We're coming up to four hours worth of daytime naps here! He obviously needs the sleep, so I'm leaving him be!

Tomorrow he's back at nursery again so I really hope he's better than last week and that he starts enjoying it more very soon! Eek!

Gary good luck with the scan on Thursday, it's exciting to see the LO swimming around :)

Figgy have a Brew to keep you awake! Hope Figgyboy lasts the day at the cm's!

Faffin hope all goes well, let us know how she gets on when she's awake.

Jiggle no experience, but I think the timer is a great idea! And a Brew for you too!

LMF hope you're feeling better soon, hope you are managing to get some rest.

Easily don't worry DS managed to trap his thumb in the tv cabinet door yesterday, so now has a big cut on his thumb and an unexplained bruise on his leg :( How they manage it I don't know!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 04/02/2013 16:05

That's great news faffin, hope she feels ok after the op.

easily DD always has bumps and bruises, I think some of them are just accident prone! I'd like to think decent nursery staff would be able to tell the difference between an accident-prone toddler and one who's being abused.

jiggle DS is 4 and is lately obsessed with the iPad. I don't mind him playing educational games on there tbh, especially as with home educating he has so much more free time than if he was at school. This morning he was playing a maths game learning how to count in 2's :) I do limit it though when he just wants to watch videos of trains on YouTube.

oi do not test more than a couple of days before AF is due, I speak from experience that you will drive yourself mad. It will inevitably be negative even if you are pregnant, then you won't believe it's negative so will likely test or at least be obsessing every day until either you get a positive or AF arrives. I started testing 4 days before AF was due with Eva, finally got a positive when I was 8 days late. I still shudder to think how much money I literally pissed away on sticks!

QueenofClean · 04/02/2013 19:04

Faffin fab news about DD.

Easily, Sky is always bumping or bruising herself.

Oi, poas pls esp as I have to wait till next week!

Air, thanks for pointing out I'm getting old on Friday lol.

Aethelfleda · 04/02/2013 19:33

Things are crawling, I've run out of things to do.this isnt about cash anymore, its about whether things can be tidied up in time for Friday. Am mentally preparing to walk away while hoping it will actually happen by some minor miracle. Sigh. Who invented the English housing market?

Figgygal · 04/02/2013 19:51

Cripes oi have u been trying too? If everyone gets pg and my dh is not having any of it I will be so Envy

Well he got sent home at 2.30 as he was getting so distressed at CMs and luckily dh could take him. Since I got home at 5 he has varied from smiley to hysterical in seconds refused to eat his tea from spoon or fork so he had separate piles of fish, peas, carrots and sweet potato which he would pick at pea by pea. I put him in his pj top and by time had changed his nappy and read a story it was saturated and needed changed.

Right must go he's crying again

Faffin · 04/02/2013 19:58

We got home at about 2.30. You wouldn't know now that anything has happened, it's amazing how quickly they bounce back. DD was an absolute star, the only time she cried was when she woke up and called for me and I wasn't there Sad. The challenge now is to try and get her to rest for the next couple of days!

I totally understand where you're coming from Xiao hun, I h8 txt spk lol!

I'm loving all the scan and poas news on here at the moment, and also very happy that it doesn't make me at all broody. Two is definitely enough for me!

Oh aethel you poor thing. Sounds like it's going to be a long week.

sorry, on phone and forgot who else I wanted to namecheck

OiMissus · 04/02/2013 20:37

Just a quick one - I saw your post too late seven. I bought one. It very clearly said that I should wait until I'm late. Hmmmm... I don't record these things so I never know. But anyway, I went ahead. I'm not due for ages, and so it said "not pregnant".
I bought a pack of two. I shall practice patience. Whilst doing my best to conceive in the meantime. Wink
