I went with Gary's suggestion, as it was quite awesome and indeed factual!

:o

Onwards?

We haven't had a takeaway for weeks and weeks, they make me feel unwell which is a great motivator. I do miss satay though. I'm going to look into a few recipes or making it at home:)

You can be strong. Booze is overrated. Can you give yourself a stern talking to and stick to weekends only perhaps?

Octoboy only woke once gain last night. I can so cope with that. I am hoping that it's going to continue when I come off the painkillers, as it might be habit by then:)

Right. Onwards!

Oi, at least Martinis are low in points as no sugary juice added!

hi all, been AWOL, finding it v. hard to keep up with thread without a smartphone, I just don't get my laptop out very often, and when I do, it is to work so don't find time to check mumsnet. But I just ordered the new google nexus phone yesterday so in a couple of weeks should be back waffling on here in full flow! Sorry not to name check, only read the last page. LMF sounds like you've been poorly, glad you got pain relief and yay octoboy for sleeping!

no real news here, things are ticking along. still no sign of any academic posts. sigh.

jigglebum · 31/01/2013 10:09

Morning. Illness all round here too, though I feel not too bad today. DS upstairs asleep having been sent home from school yesterday.DH has yet another bloody cold - which will of course be flu pretty soon! Freya just a cold but has her MMR Jabs later and is quite whingy already. Progress on sleep has been good and we have had a few sleep throughs but last couple of nights less good due to cold and up with an hallucinating DS too. Feeling rather fraught today.

Freya is so clingy at the moment, it is driving me mad. She wants me to carry her around all the time and screams when I go out of her sight. Anyone else have this? Leaving her at nursery is a nightmare but she is fine when I am not there.

Qofc I hope the sickness bug passes soon. There is a lot around at the moment.

aethel fingers crossed for exchange soon.
LMF - hope you feel better soon - sounds grim, but good on the sleep front.

easily exciting news on the work front.
bjr good to hear from you and that things are looking up on the DH front. DH and I were doing better too but I suspect him being ill again, the kids being ill and my patience wearing thin might do for that!

Now do I go to our usual music group and sit DS in the corner . Not sure I can face a whole day with just MMR jabs for an outing! We had lots planned today too.

jigglebum · 31/01/2013 15:19

oh dear killed the thread! you are obviously all having a lot more exciting days than I am! Survived the mmr jabs with rather a lot of screaming,m albeit short lived.

OiMissus · 31/01/2013 16:02

My martini's are not point-free. They're the same as red/white wine. My other usual tipple. Acc WW I'm looking at 6 pts per measure. (I drink Martini - vermouth - rather than sophisticated straight gins/vodkas). So yes, I must be good and stuck to weekends only, and even then in moderation. When out, I may have to drink vodka and diet coke. ConfusedHmm

GaryBuseysTeeth · 31/01/2013 16:07

Queenie, hope you (and Chez Queen!) feel better soon.

aethel, fingers tightly crossed for the exchange soon.

LMF, pompoms for him sleeping for ages! Hope it's the start of him turning a corner.
I really wish I loved Dr.Who as the tee's on shirtpunch/ript etc are usually Who based, but it's not my thing, I've been looking out for stuff for DS on those sites for when he's a year or two older.

Easily, hurrah for job news! Sorry you're 'that' parent.

Oi, seconding LMF is there a way/would you want to drop booze from everyday life so it's just a weekend/special thing (hope I don't sound like you need the AA!), would be a shame to undo all the good weight loss!
I like your outfit, I would wear that shopping to a hen night & the trousers means you'll not been freezing your bits off, hurrah!

jiggle, hope she remains to be ok post-MMR. We had 10 mins of grumpy then back to normal and hope everyone feels better soon.
DS is like that with me, but only infront of other people. Doesn't give me the time of day when we're alone but the second DH comes in from work he's 'mama, mama, mama' & grabby.

Hope you're back here full time soon mopsy, and with good news of the academic variety.

Not much to report here, urm, PIL are down this weekend so DH & I are doing 'couple stuff', which I think means going to a furniture shop & arguing over pouffes.

mopsytop · 31/01/2013 17:17

Golly Oi, I didn't realise Martinis were so high in points, I would have said 3, 2 single measures of gin and 1 of vermouth. but tht would be old points not the new propoints ... I just meant that it would be lower than a fruity cocktail with the same amount of alcohol but lots of sugar syrup and fruit juice ...

mopsytop · 31/01/2013 17:19

oh and when I am counting points I do gin and slimline as it is the lowest points (same as vodka and diet coke). I find it really hard to do WW and have enough points for booze without starving myself ... hmm I sound like an alcoholic, but it does eat up so Many points doesn't it!

OiMissus · 31/01/2013 17:51

You're probably right on 3pts there. But my straight sweet martini Rosso is delivered to me in glasses of approx 150ml.Grin
I need the experience of the mums with older kids...
BOi walked over to his changeable yesterday and dragged it out. He then sat on it and started the poo face... Now, I know that this doesn't mean he's ready for potty training. But, I'm thinking if getting a potty to introduce him to it...
So, is that a good/bad idea? And, why bother with a potty? Why not just go straight to the toilet lid and step thingy?

OiMissus · 31/01/2013 17:52

(Change mat - stupid autocorrect!)

thekatsatonthematt · 31/01/2013 17:53

Mopsy/Oi on a ww related note I tried to work out how many extra points a day in the life of a postie earns you.....16 "walking slowly" 22 "brisk/power walking" for 240 mins...no wonder I'm still losing weight despite being pregnant and eating my own body weight in chocolate/crisps Grin

Hi everyone. Sorry not to name check everyone but hope lmf is pain free soon and that Queenie and family are through the worst of their stomach bug.

Jiggle Seb is also super clingy at the moment, for whoever is the primary care giver. So Sunday he just wanted his Dad. Yesterday it was all about me. Today I got home from work and he wouldn't let go of my Mum! The cuddles are nice though....

Had my scan today, I'm 14 weeks exactly so my due date is 1st August. Eeek!

jigglebum · 31/01/2013 19:53

kat - oo how exciting. My sister is due with her third in late July so we are unloading all our old stuff onto her as this was an unexpected no 3 (her other 2 are older).

oi - I was a lazy slattern with potty training and waited until he was 3! Then we mastered wees in 1 day and poos took quite a while but he never really had an accident he just liked to wait until the evening and do it in a pull up! (not an unusual trait) so I am not one to ask about early training! I must admit our potty was hardly used though as we went straight for the toilet option - probably harder when they are littler even with the training seat.

Right DH is cooking dinner as I am meant to be lesson planning for tomorrow so best get on! DH cant understand how I can possibly lesson plan with a large glass of wine and the TV on. I tell him it is because I am brilliant!! Actually it is because I have taught for so long I generally just have to tweak lessons and up date them rather than start from scratch. The glass of wine is very necessary after a day of ill and clingy children!

OiMissus · 31/01/2013 20:49

Jiggle - lazy, not so! I've just read the babycentre advice for potty training and it basically says, wait until they are very ready -probably when they're 3 for boys, and if you start early you'll regret it.

1st August kat, Grin and nice one on the work-related exercise! The most exercise I get at work is the occasional meander to the loo or the kitchen.
I'm looking forward to getting pg and electing a cs. When I asked my friend in France when she was due she said, 7th July at 2pm. I love it. I have visions of having my final conference call at 10am in the office, then nipping off to the hospital to have a baby at 11:30 sharp. Wink (I know this is ridiculous but it makes me smile.)

LittleMissFantabulous · 31/01/2013 21:06

Oi my older two always had a potty about the place from bring about a year old, more to familiarise themselves with it than to use it. It can't hurt:)

Phone dying, and drugs kicking in again. Looking forward to not feeling fuzzy .>_<

See you on the other dide:)

Figgygal · 01/02/2013 05:33

Been up for an hour and a half Sad

We've done milk, medicine, powders, water and more milk I'm ready to throttle him Angry

Figgygal · 01/02/2013 05:57

I've given up trying to get him back to sleep my last resort was co sleeping and he tried to do dives off the bed so he's now working his way through his box of bum cream and baby lotion and im in a heap on the floor. Lots of finger chewing going on

If he decides to sleep through swimming later will be v disappointed as have missed the last 2 weeks due to snow and being in scotland.

A friend of mine mc'd last summer and is now pg again I know ur friend must feel awful now oi but there's still hope.

mopsy I'm the same with my laptop never see it from one week to next I'd be lost without my phone and iPad.

Going for a cup of tea now

SevenReasonsToSmile · 01/02/2013 09:10

Sorry to hear about your friend oi. On the plus side its 1st Feb, hope you enjoyed a martini for breakfast!

Great news on the scan kat. Can't believe you're already 14 weeks, I'm 23 now (eek!)

figgy hope you managed to avoid throttling figgyboy.

We all have colds, DD also has a horrible cough. She's been sleeping terribly, getting up the last few nights before midnight and coming in with us. Then last night she slept through until 6.20!

QueenofClean · 01/02/2013 10:13

all better in Chez Queen Grin

I am thankful that I don't have to calorie count.

Kat exciting news.

Figgy sorry you are having trouble with Figgyboy at night/early hours.

Air Hope you feel better soon and that Air enjoys his birthday.

Having so many ishoo's with Darcie at the moment I'm worn down :(

Figgygal · 01/02/2013 14:35

Figgyboy survived the night finally falling asleep at 6.45 thankfully its my non working day today so i also got back to bed until 8.30 when he woke up. Have taken him swimming this morning and to rhyme time at the library unfortunately now he is walking he is not interested Sad we've been going since he was tiny but the last few weeks he just rampages off round the library which isn't ideal. Might have to stop going i cant let him disturb everyone.

Xiaoxiong · 01/02/2013 16:43

Just was carrying screaming clingy DS up the stairs to have a nap after his jabs. Felt suddenly very sick. Thought...hey, once he's asleep I'll just POAS...just to be sure...

A line is a line right?!

Grin

Now, to text DH and tell him...or tell him in person when he gets home around midnight.

One person who is NOT going to be told until I can avoid it no longer - my mother Hmm

OiMissus · 01/02/2013 17:40

Massive congratulations!xxx

QueenofClean · 01/02/2013 17:49

Congrats Xiao I'm not jealous not me

Figgy is there a group you can take Figgyboy to for walkers?

CheungFun · 01/02/2013 18:12

Eek! Congratulations Xiao! Thanks

I'm back at work now, I knew it wouldn't be easy, but omg it's been a rough week! DS is teething, and he had a temperature at nursery, so I had to go and collect him early 2 days in a row, he managed a full day yesterday without a temp at the cm's. Last night was hideous, he just couldn't settle and was crying and crying :( He's having calpol and the dr prescribed ibuprofen to bring down his temp. I'm exhausted, but thankfully DS has had two 2 hour naps today and seems a lot happier! Fingers crossed he sleeps well tonight

....I say that he's now having a tantrum!

AnAirOfHope · 01/02/2013 18:56

Congrats on your line, fab news Grin

I cant wait for all the newborn photos Blush

Sorry about your friend oi.

Wishing things settle down with Darcie queen. Do you know why she is playing up? Did you get a referal for her last year?

Hope has been confirmed for egg allergy. I was so ill when I got back it took a lot out of me and im just not 100% yet.

Im in awe of all you working ladies with young children. Its so hard working with no sleep and children that get sick or teething. You all do what I do and more, it just shows how strong women are :)

Have a great weekend everyone xx
