JenFrankincenseAndMyrrh · 03/12/2012 11:48

Good luck for today Hawthers

N has been horrible at night lately. We moved her into her own room last night so she is now in the cotbed. She fed hourly from midnight through to 5 but at least she went back in her bed after each feed. She was in a travel cot before and while she would happily go to bed in it, there was no way she would go back in it during the night so has been cosleeping for the past few weeks.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 12:51

Good luck today Hawthers - hope it it is going ok so far?

Sorry to hear of all these babies not sleeping Sad. Hope all respective mummies can get a bit of a nap to recuperate today Thanks

Ds1 is pushing ALL my buttons today (not sure if he is under the weather? dh's car is of dubious health (possible clutch / gearbox issue?) so he's taken mine to work and ds2 seems incredibly crotchety. He had a really unsettled night and today has been literally freaking out when I try to change his nappy. Like unbelievably so HmmConfused. I don't know if it is just crotchetiness (made worse by teething?) or if he has actually hurt his hip and so bending his legs up to clean a frigging enormous poo off his bum was hurting? I'm going to see how it goes later and how he does with just a wee nappy (as he was fine first thing but went loopy for the two subsequent changes) and if it still seems to be a problem might take him to the doctors tomorrow. Do you think that sounds ok / sensible? Or should I be more worried? Or less worried? Confused

So my plan for the afternoon is to hope ds2 sleeps, put ds1 in front of CBeebies and then hide from everything and everyone.......

scarletfingernail · 03/12/2012 14:08

brooking that your DSs' are just fine and that DS1 is just playing up for the fun of it.

We finally have a diagnosis for DS. Erythema Multiforme anyone? He's had2 GPs look at him together who diagnosed. Dr Google seems to concur. More anti biotics to clear up the nasty infected ones, but the rash itself will go on it's own over time. So I have him at home all week again which will hopefully do him good anyway as he's so tired and run down. We were also battling fever with him all night again.

Good luck for today Hawthers. Hope you get a better night tonight.

Oh poor DS Scarlet - hope it clears up soon. Is it related to the other moluscum thingamyjig? How long should it take to go? Hope he's all better soon.

hohohohawthers · 03/12/2012 15:38

its not going too well tbh. I'm knackered and so is my laptop. and I feel ill

Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 15:59

Oh Hawthers

Have some particularly unMNy hugs my lovely!

Come and hide with Scarlet and me and share the Wine that scarlet brought......

musicalmrs · 03/12/2012 18:25

Defintely Wine needed Hawthers. Hope your first day went as well as could be expected.

Aiming to get all the Christmas shopping finished by the end of the day. Getting there, but more to go... Would like to have cracked everyone except DH by bedtime, so I can wait for the parcels to arrive and relax a bit :)

Sorry to hear so many of us are having problems with the little brookers' sleeping. Iz has been a little better the last couple of nights, as in she's gone for 3.5/4 hours without food (although often with a wake up and resettle in between). Staying in her own bed half the time, but when she doesn't it's normally because I'm exhausted and want to go back to sleep, after having woken up lots of times.

DH has just had a long weekend off work (back tomorrow), during which time Iz has learnt to crawl at speed, and now loves exploring the house and pulling herself up on things. Nothing is ever safe again! Think I may have to move the high chair into the kitchen whenever I want to cook/bake...

TooImmatureMincePies · 03/12/2012 19:24

Tired and grumpy, but have Wine! I stupidly stayed up late last night, went to bed at midnight and 10 minutes later M woke up. I bf her back down, all seemed well...for another 10 mins. Fed her again...and repeat until I gave her Calpol at 1.30, waking her up completely. She eventually went back to sleep at 3, only to get up at 4. And 4.20. At that point I took her to bed with me and we slept until DH's alarm went off at 6.30. I begged DH not to go to work, so we went back to sleep until M woke up at 8.30. DH phoned in and took annual leave and then took M swimming to let me sleep.

Ewan the Dream Sheep arrived today, though - it did seem to help settle her for a nap. Will be trying it tonight. Time has totally got away from me and she hasn't been in the bath yet, despite my resolutions to have her in bed by 7. Hmm Failed again. And I burnt dinner. So all in all, not a good day.

Today I am officially back at work! I am no longer on maternity leave, but on last year's annual leave instead. Confused It's all getting a bit scary. Hawthers, I hope you get more sleep tonight!

cakes82 · 03/12/2012 19:28

DH had Erythema multiforma 2 years ago this month after he got unwell whilst we were on honeymoon. Not pleasant from what he says, felt like shingles to begin with (which he has also already had!) The rash takes a while to fade. DH is thinking it might be an easier thing to get over the younger you are.
Hope DS feels better soon!

Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 19:45

So is it caused as a result of being unwell then cakes - like a lowered immune system or something?

Sounds like a rough night Too SadThanksWineGlad DH was able to salvage the day a bit though Smile

I'm just sat here feeding ds2 wondering if we'll still live in this house once they leave home and wondering how is set the rooms out?

hohohohawthers · 03/12/2012 19:49

successful day for the boys who ate and slept well for the nanny and were really happy to see me when I got home. I didn't get any work done (wasn't given any to do!) and missed my boys like crazy. Feeling like death warmed up as my cold is squatting on my sinuses rather painfully. I really need some sleep tonight pretty please f, I'm sooo tired.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 19:56

Yay for a good day with the nanny. Not yay for a sinusey cold though! Can you take anything for it?

Did you get your laptop and stuff sorted out?

cakes82 · 03/12/2012 20:16

It can be caused by being unwell or a reaction to a medication. I looked it up when DH was ill. In DH's case he had sinusitis caused by pollution, left poluted city took antibiotics went back to polluted city came home from Honeymoon then as I tended to word it his body took umbridge at the illness so decided to add to it by giving him the rash. Its a reaction in the small blood vessels or something, I vaguely recall reading. Dr gave him antibiotics to make sure sinusitis was def gone but he already had rash by then.

scarletfingernail · 03/12/2012 21:44

That's interesting, thanks for sharing cakes. I gather it starts as a secondary thing. He has infected Molluscum Contagiosum at the moment so it's possible that infection has caused the Erythema rash as an immune response. But he's had infected Molluscum lots before but never had an immune system reaction previously. But there are so many bugs and viruses going around at the moment it could be any number of things which have triggered it. His skin is sooooo sore and nasty looking. The GP has assured me he's not contagious but I'm sceptical to be honest. I mean, he must have got it from somewhere right? Anyway it might be a blessing in disguise as there 6 kids off playgroup with Norovirus currently so keeping him at home might well be for the best.

I've now had 3 CBT sessions and already I'm starting to recognise when I'm over reacting and stop myself from losing it completely.

Hopefully you're asleep already Hawthers. Great that your boys had a good day. Well done you for getting through it.

Is anyone else watching the Claridges programme? Envy

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 22:25

Recording Claridges - will watch tomorrow when DH is away Smile

PetWoman · 03/12/2012 22:36

Ooh, Kate nee Middleton is pregnant! And in hospital with morning sickness, poor thing.

I have fed DS back to sleep for the second time already tonight. Last night I couldn't even get him onto his cot (5 transfer fails Confused ) so he co-slept and I had the best night's sleep for ages. But oh, I wish he would just sleep in his own bed - and stay asleep!

Fingers crossed for tonight, ladies...

TooImmatureMincePies · 03/12/2012 22:39

F*cking Ewan The Dream Sheep just beeped loudly 3 inches from M's head and woke her up! Angry I think its batteries are dying. FFS, who designs a baby sleep aid that beeps when its batteries run out? Also, it's not motion-sensitive. Can I send it back to Amazon when I've taken it out of the packaging and cut the plastic fasteners?

Biscuitsandtinsel · 03/12/2012 22:46

Is it supposed to be motion sensitive? If it is then yes you could send it back as it would be faulty and you couldn't know that until it was out of the packaging.

What a stupid design flaw though! Low battery beeping Hmm

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/12/2012 22:52

So sorry to hear about all the illnesses. Hugs to Hawthers, Scarlet's DS and everyone else! Yay for the CBT starting to help though Scarlet!

Yay for Musical's Iz upping the tempo!! I can just picture her zooming around! Although little A is still crawling around, her new favourite mode of mobility is walking around with her wooden blocks pushalong walker. She looks so pleased with herself when she gets across the room by herself (with the walker)! It's killing my back though, wandering around behind her in case she tumbles! She's extending the length of time she can stand without holding onto anything as well, she's up to about 20 seconds now, so not long, but she looks so thrilled at being independent!

I made pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs for DD today, and she went nuts for the meatballs! I made the meatballs deliberately large to make sure she didn't try to put the whole thing in her mouth without chewing, however she was so desperate to get the whole thing in she would just take bite after bite without pause until she gagged! I foresee a future of over-eating like her mother... Blush At least she was enjoying them though!

No Brooking for Hawthers to have a good night's sleep and a better day at work tomorrow! Also No Brooking for general good health for all No Brookers!

By the way, anyone who was interested in a pic of me at the wedding, my friend has just put up a few pics on FB and I've made one of them my cover photo. I was just wearing the same dress as at the naming ceremony, so not too exciting. (Still can't get my boobs into any of my pre-baby wedding guest dresses!)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/12/2012 22:54

That post was interuppted so many times I ended up x-posting with several of you! It is very interesting about Kate Middleton, if they have a boy then DD will grow up always wondering if she's going to marry the prince same as I did Blush

What is Claridges? (Other than a gorgeous central London hotel of course!)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/12/2012 23:02

p.s. I can spell really Blush interrupted

Also, I agree it is SO ANNOYING when Ewan beeps due to low batteries!!

By the way, I recently read a blog warning about button batteries, and it scared me so much that I want to just mention it to you lovely ladies. I'm sure you already know this, but over and above the choking risk, button batteries can cause severe life-threatening internal burns if a toddler swallows one. You really need to get to A&E immediately if your baby swallows one, even if they don't seem to be in any distress - you canNOT just wait for it to pass through their system. Here's a link to a really cheesy video (sorry!) that discusses the problem LINK

scarletfingernail · 03/12/2012 23:43

Scream the programme was called Inside Claridges. A BBC documentary behind the scenes at the hotel. Some of the stuff people request there had me Shock. I'd love to go for afternoon tea.

I saw your pics, you looked lovely. I loved the bride's dress, very classy.

My money is on Kate's baby being a girl.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtinsel · 04/12/2012 06:31

Ha Scream I said to DH last night that if it was a girl she'd be the right age (ish) for ds2.... DH said 'oooh, I could retire!'

Scarlet I also would love to do afternoon tea there. We went for dinner a couple of years ago which was lovely but I'd love to do one of those fancy afternoon tea doodahs Smile

And wowee for little A and her walker! And standing independently! You need really good balance to push the wooden block walkers - ds1 couldn't do that until after he could use the vtech walker thing that practically everyone has, you know the one with the phone on it?

Off to look at fb pics....

Biscuitsandtinsel · 04/12/2012 06:34

....which are gorgeous Smile

Biscuitsandtinsel · 04/12/2012 07:13

From the bbc website about Kate being pg:

'St James's Palace would not be drawn on when the royal couple had become aware of the pregnancy, only saying "recently", but it is understood the palace announcement was prompted by the duchess's medical condition.'

Did they expect St James' Palace to say when she'd done a pg test? Hmm 'Oh, well, yes, she sent William out to the 24 hour Tescos with instructions to buy a FRER and 2 own brand and a CBD for confirmation when, and only when, the other tests had come up positive.....'

And on that topic, no, actually on a completely different topic, I thought 'James's' would be spelt James'? Is anyone clever at grammar and stuff?
