I loved kate's thread name but thought we needed a birthday theme for this one. We'll soon have 6 weeks of birthdays to celebrate!

Oh, and DS knows what sound a lion makes. He gives the quietest little roar you ever heard, so cute!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 12/12/2012 11:24

Kate Sounds like your DS has an allergy too. Hope your GP is able to help. It was my HV & GP that got to the bottom of it.

MissChristmastRee · 12/12/2012 12:11

So much for a relaxing day in bed to recover. Got a call from DP at just after 9 to say that Freya was poorly again and we needed to take her to the docs again. So doc said virus (still) and nothing they can do (still). I'm now with poorly child and poorly self.

thekatsatonthematt · 12/12/2012 12:43

Thanks everyone. DP just laughed at our terrible planning, moaned he thought he'd get more practise trying, then spent the rest if the night grinning and muttering under his breath about super sperm Xmas Hmm Grin

First day as a postie today. T'was freezing but I love it!! Plus I get paid till 2 but am already back home eating lunch. Off to decorate the tree before picking ds up from cm at 2.30.

ree that sound poop. Hope you're both better soon.

FestiveFiggy · 12/12/2012 13:39

I think tooth 6 is coming through we had a hysterical screaming boy at 1am and 4am this morning woke at 6.40 in my dressing gown and glasses still on. Funny because only tooth 2 has given any problems so far so this one must be a sod!!

I saw ds for 5 minutes today before went to work wont see him tonight as have my xmas team night out.

In terms of DC2 i am going to work on it with DH he never wanted kids really and i think he had DS because i didnt want to miss out on being a parent (though was never 100% bothered if it never happened), of course now we have one i want another which wasnt the plan but maybe we will see in the new year.

MissChristmastRee · 12/12/2012 16:58

Could really do with some advice please ladies. Freya really hasn't been herself at all today. Since we got back from the doctors, all she's done is sleep or scream. She's probably been awake for 3 half hour intervals and during that time if she hasn't been having her bottle/food, she has been crying as if in pain. It isn't like her at all to sleep this much! I'm not really sure what to do - doc this morning said chest/throat/ears are fine, just a virus, should clear up in April when the weather improves!!!!

She's been having calpol/nurofen alternating at 2 hour intervals but doesn't seem to help.

I don't know what to do but feeling absolutely shitty myself is really not helping the situation.

Aethelfleda · 12/12/2012 18:25

((hug)) misree it's awful looking after LO's when you're poorly too. Has she calmed down a bit now? It's quite usual for babies to sleep more when they've got a virus but if you're worried that she's not alert when she is awake, or the calpol/ibuprofen isn't getting her temp down, or if she's still inconsolable, then ring the docs or out of hours and get her checked again. Sometimes things can look like a virus to start with and then changed. If your mummy-spider-sense is tingling, get her looked at. If on the other hand she's more settled, has had a bottle, and seems better, then just keep on with the medicines...

dD1home from school early with grotty temp. How about our next thread...Tis the season to be grotty...

KateKringle · 12/12/2012 20:19

We have a referral to a dermatologist, hopefully little man will finally be free of his dry, sore skin Xmas Grin And the GP doesn't think DS has a milk intolerance, which is also good news. She thought his poor eating was because he's full of poo, so we now have some lactulose. That may be part of the problem, but I think he's just a fussy eater, and because he eats badly he gets constipated....all a bit chicken and egg!

NorthernChinchilla · 12/12/2012 20:56

DS says thank-you for all the birthday good wishes Xmas Smile

It has to have been the crappiest 24 hours ever though. It's almost like it's in direct inverse proportion to how the other 364 days have been parent-wise!

Apologies for me, me, me....

DP's friend arrived at 10pm. Grr. DS then woke at half 10, yelling away. We thought it was just his random thing (it happens about once every six weeks, and he's inconsolable so I go to bed with him). I couldn't go to bed with him as our 'guest' was in DS's room.
So in the end I took him into our room (made DP sleep in the other spare room) and nope, his ear has popped for 4th time.

At work, I had to deal with a madman (not the correct phraseology I'd use at work but bear with me) who wanted entrance into the office for half an hour, and I think I've used up all my adrenaline for the year.

DS's other ear was leaking again on collection, and so the other one's gone again. We have drugs, but I'm booking in for an appointment to get the ENT referral.

At home, DP managed to ruin my favourite, expensive, irreplaceable beloved jumper by putting it over the radiator and then got a parking ticket when he went out to get DS's presents at the PO.

Weep.

MissRee I was so glad to read you were off work and then so sorry to hear about having to have Freya (iyswim). A big (((hug))) as there is nothing worse than ill babies when you're ill. How's it going now?

Could you do the 'in for a penny, in for a pound' sorry crude! figgy? Providing a sibling/friend for figgyboy and leaving it at that?

And I know what you mean Kate, DS does a little roar too, it is sooooo cute!

Need to go and cook dinner now....

MissChristmastRee · 12/12/2012 21:42

We are in hospital - her temp has been at 40 since about 5 and won't come down. Unresponsive and floppy when we got to A&E. Heartrate was 230 but has since come down a bit to 190, still have no idea what's wrong but we've been admitted.

NorthernChinchilla · 12/12/2012 21:49

Oh God MissRee, that's awful. I hope they're checking her out now and getting some drugs pumped into her.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow you're just discussing how she gave you a scare, and she's back to sticking her tongue out at you.
(((Hugs)))
Let us know how you get on.

LittleMissKitschmas · 12/12/2012 21:50

Hell's bells MissRee :( Fingers crossed she's on the me d soon. Throwing pompoms and hugs your way!

KateKringle · 12/12/2012 21:51

(((hugs))) MissRee hope she's much better soon. Thinking of you

BJR · 12/12/2012 22:04

((((Hugs))))MissRee thinking of you and hope you're all doing ok.

hohohohawthers · 12/12/2012 22:41

Bloody hell pet take care of yourself. She is in the best possible place and they can keep a close eye on her. Remember to keep your strength up. There should be beds on the ward for you so you can stay close. Thinking if you x

Aethelfleda · 12/12/2012 22:59

Yeep. So sorry to hear that misree, glad you got her in an really hope she improves very soon. ((((hug))))

AnAirOfHopeInAManger · 13/12/2012 01:30

Get well soon Freya and mum xx

Aethelfleda · 13/12/2012 09:52

Aaargh huge post got eaten by the refresh page monster. It had lots of namechecks and patronising advice for everyone....probably for the best...

thinking of you missree and Freya.

jigglebum · 13/12/2012 10:35

Oh missree hope freya (and you) are ok.

Having a quiet day in here today as my Freya has a sore throat I think as she sounds really hoarse. She was up practically all night on Tuesday (clearly in pain) at times. I staggered through work on Weds. She managed to sleep 10- 5 last night so a lot better but we both still look knackered!!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 13/12/2012 10:50

(((freya & MissRee))), hope she's on the mend soon. x

for DP's jumper ruining & friend waking DS Northen, hope he sleeps better tonight

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/12/2012 10:54

MissRee Hope Freya improves really soon x

MissChristmastRee · 13/12/2012 11:11

It's an infection of some sort but they're not sure where. Her bloods showed that her little body is fighting it, wherever it is! Temp is still a but up and down but her breathing and heart rate have stabilised do we're here for today for observation and hopefully home with oral antibiotics tonight. She's been having IV anti-bs so far x

FestiveFiggy · 13/12/2012 12:30

aw missreee that sounds really scary but positive too since they hoping you can get out today!!

Our tin of SMA is almost empty i have bought a pint of whole milk i figure he is only a week away from being 1 anyway!! My work colleague has said that she noticed a drop in her LO's immune system when she came off the FF so maybe it isnt the best time to be doing it after all? what are your thoughts wise mumsnetters? Does he need vitamin drops? Maybe i will get some of the follow on/growing up milk for the rest of the winter......ooh decisions decision.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 13/12/2012 12:45

Sounds positive that she's fighting, hope they work out what it is soon Ree.

Figgy, DS has been on exclusiviely moo juice for over a month now (touching all the wood, he's never had a cold/the sniffles), we've always put vitamin drops in his weetabix (since 4 months old), but that's more to do with me being obsessed about getting enough vit D!
We use these vits, they're on the Boots 3 for 2 on baby stuff when they do it next.

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/12/2012 13:02

Figgy Sky will be on Nutramigen AA formula for the next year or so. However, when Darcie turned 1 I put her on moo juice and she has always had multi-vitamins. Upto you but I wouldn't buy follow on milk. Either switch to moo juice or stick to the formula Figgyboy Is on now.
