How's this? Thought I'd just press on with it!

OP posts:

Well DS is defo back to his usual self, just rather scabby! Poor DD is quite poorly though. Temp, cough & cold...she'll rally soon enough. Then no doubt DH or I will get it or she will break out with pox!

arti My Dad has high BP and cholesterol . For him cheese is a big no-no...your DH sounds quite healthy. I suppose the key thing would be regular monitoring for him. I think my Dad also takes some sort of medication, did the GP suggest anything like that?

indith I really feel your pain on the sleep front DS was a shocker up till his 1st birthday.

Nolda · 21/12/2012 12:14

Arti - my DH also has high bp but not high enough to warrant medication. For him low salt diet and exercise are key. If these are kept up, then he is OK. (It is scary how much salt there is in bread btw.)

JamInMyWellies · 21/12/2012 14:52

Have just posted my secret santa. I dont think it will get to you in time but its on the way.

Oh and have received mine. Its going under the tree.

Honsandrevels · 21/12/2012 15:02

Indith That is an awful night. Dd2 woke dd1 screaming last night so it must have been bad. Dd1 sleeps through it usually!

Ladyt Glad you had a good day with your stepmother. That service sounds bonkers. We're going to a crib service of the church we go to toddler group. It was very sweet last year, no mention of blood!

Arti How high is it? Does he have lots of salt? My DH is slim, eats well at home but eats crisps and unhealthy snacks every day at work.

My ss has arrived! It is under the tree.

Honsandrevels · 21/12/2012 15:07

Oh and arti it might be worth getting a bp machine to monitor it at home. It might not be as high - white coat hypertension and all that. Apparently Asda have them half price in January as part of the new year health drive.

spotofcheerfulness · 21/12/2012 15:42

Indith that is truly hideous, my sympathies.
I hd literally no sleep as T was up all night scratching (and I think hallucinating from the Piriton) but was able to catch a couple of hours this morning as DO's at home.

Lady I am sorry your DD had nightmares from the service, but I must admit I would have liked to see it!

Does anyone have the Chad Valley junior trampoline, by any chance? The little one with the handle. I bought one AGES ago and realised the instructions for assembly were missing. Ended up not doing anything about it and Argos say they don't have the instructions and can't help me. Does anyone here have any they could send me? I asked the wider MN boards and was met with deafening silence.

DP and I are having regular, hideous arguments. Really hoping Father Christmas brings us regular employment as I think that is at the heart of a lot of it.

Hey Rubes, hope you're surviving and a bit of grog is making everything that little bit smoother...

DeidreBarlow · 21/12/2012 17:10

spot Sorry to hear you are still arguing with DP. Really hope the New Year brings you both more work. The lack of sleep can't be helping much either.

How is T today?

DD has just asked for food, must be on the mend. Such a relief as we have panto tickets for tomorrow and it wasn't looking good.

JamInMyWellies · 21/12/2012 17:16

Indith, my sympathies on the no sleeping. Your post reminded me of DS2. We used to give him an iPhone with UP on it. It was his favourite movie in the world to watch and it was often the only way he would calm down and then eventually sleep allowing us to sleep.

On the travelling around to see rellies I would explain the situation and apologise in advance. Am sure they will be understanding.

Rubena · 21/12/2012 19:14

Nolda, I have / had an obsession with Costco's Wonton soup, and my sodium levels went mental so of course googled it to death and was also surprised at the amount of sodium in bread!
Spot, you are correct. My brother has suggested alcoholic eggnog. Now have a craving for it! Can't find it anywhere except very spendy at Waitrose, and can't be arsed to make it! There's a really lovely and festive tasting Ginger Beer at Costco that has become like water around here Xmas Grin Am perfecting Nigella's semolina's tato's tonight with a roast chicken.

Honsandrevels · 21/12/2012 19:55

Spot I bought a second hand mini trampoline with a handle and there were no instructions. Eventually I found similar trampoline instructions on the Early Learning centre website and used those. It worked and it is still in good working order!

Rubena · 21/12/2012 20:16

Spot, also sorry to hear about arguments. Hoping Santa brings you the same. We have this mini trampoline which dh put together. Could try and rustle up the instructions if its the one?

spotofcheerfulness · 21/12/2012 21:53

It is really like that, Rubes, but with criss crossy bits - here:
www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3676008.htm

Does yours have the criss cross bits too?

T's spots really bad - hope it's the worst today.

ZuleikaJambiere · 21/12/2012 23:29

Hello all, I'm failing to even lurk so won't manage a catch up I'm afraid. But the important bit is the recent birthdays. Happy belated birthday to Lucy, Matilda, Sebastien, Lachlan, Thomas and Nina, and also to Daisy for Sunday.

I hope all the poorly ones get well again very soon

Arti DH is so chuffed that his is the 'best boast'. My star is also rising, my kitchen noises will be heard on radio 4 on Xmas eve, one day I may be allowed to talk!!

In case I don't survive DD's party on Sunday and never make it back here (16 pre schoolers in my house - argh, I thought no one would come so close to Christmas but every last one accepted), have a very merry Christmas everyone, and a special happy birthday to the Christmas Day kids - Eddie, Rosie and Joshua. And thank you to my secret Santa, the gift is under the tree and is probably going to be my only surprise so I'm very excited about it!

beans37 · 23/12/2012 07:18

Oh poor Lady. Seen your fb post. Pox everywhere at the moment. How are all the spotty littles doing?

Just doing morning shift while DH snoozes. He's so tired from working so hard. But think I'll have a kip this afternoon. Am also knackered.

Am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed by Christmas cooking! Doing my Tesco click and collect this afternoon. Meant to be out tonight, but have a v sore throat, so might give it a miss. Don't want to be ill when am doing my first ever Xmas lunch!

JamInMyWellies · 23/12/2012 08:14

Beans I always think of Christmas dinner as I am just doing a Sunday roast nothing to it. Also I always utilise everyone else and prep all the veg the night before.

Lady poor you bloody pox

sybilfaulty · 23/12/2012 13:30

Am just back from the asda battle. About to thump dh for being sodding useless. All this trophy cooking, ingredients which moulder in cupboard for a year and no help at all. I am giving kids early Christmas present of lovely new DVD so they can watch whilst I wrap presents on my bed.

Dd1 now crying about mince pies. Bloody hell.

Hope all the sickies get well soon.

beans37 · 23/12/2012 16:59

Fa la la la la la la la laaaaaaa!

sybilfaulty · 23/12/2012 18:53

VagolaJingling · 23/12/2012 21:29

Hello ladies, all winter wonderlandy here in Austria. Have had a lovely day snowboarding with DH after convincing DS2 that ski school was a good idea (he's still not really buying into the idea). DS1 loving it and he's going up the mountain tomorrow with his group. Am a teensy bit nervous about it after seeing some manicout of controlpeople up there today.

Honsandrevels · 23/12/2012 23:02

Now bring us some figgy pudding, now bring us some Figgy pudding....

Vag Sounds super festive!

I shall be attempting Mary Berry's yule log tomorrow. A disaster waiting to happen with my two keen helpers. I find their little hands useful for pastry making though! We made mince pies at the weekend. I can fanny about with fun festive baking because I'm not cooking Christmas lunch!

How are all the poorly children? Hope things are improving Deids and spot. Is ladyt afflicted now too? It's a Dec08 epidemic!

JamInMyWellies · 24/12/2012 10:27

Happy Christmas everyone. Hope Santa brings what you asked for. enjoy the day with your families. Thanks for the continued support over the last year.

McKayz · 24/12/2012 15:25

I hope all the poorly children still have a wonderful Christmas. I saw that WG is havign trouble with some sort of pox too. Strange how lots of the Dec08 DCs are getting it at the same time.

My Mum, Step-Dad and Brother are here for dinner tonight. It has become a little tradition but my word I was stressed this morning trying to make the pudding.

I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful Christmas tomorrow and that our Christmas babes have a great birthday too.

SummerLightning · 24/12/2012 20:29

Happy Christmas everyone! Sorry not been on much recently and sorry to hear about all the ill ones. No pox here (yet).
