Indith, DS had a very wheezy episode as a baby. If the breathing becomes rapid and quite shallow, like panting then I was told to go straight to A & E.

Indith · 15/12/2012 21:40

Thanks. He has done a huge poo, thrown up everywhere (oddly second time he has thrown up while pooing, I think he holds hos breatth then strains so hard he makes himself sick. Really odd.) screamed a bit more but is finally asleep. Breathing heavy but even. When he is awake he is fighting the snot and wheezing, skipping a few breaths then panting but I think it is because he is trying to breath normally through his nose, now he is asleep it is far more normal. Will def be keeping a close eye though. Dh annoyingly not answering phone though so can't see if he will come home after meal instead or limit his drinking or something so I can take baby if I need to. Taxi, no carseats and all 3 children not my idea of a fun OOH trip so fingers crossed we won't need it!

DeidreBarlow · 16/12/2012 19:39

Indith how is DS? And Rt How is your DH today...did you get him to the Dr?

DS is horrendous. I had no idea how bad the pox could be. He's had baths with bicarb, baths with oats, piriton, calpol and nothing seems to ease it. He has several that look like cigarette burns they are that bigSad. He seems to have a small cluster under his eye and he looks like he has been smacked and his groin is just amass with them. If he take him to the GP tomorrow can he give me anything stronger than what I'm giving him?

He has been sat on my knee all day...he screamed if I made a cuppa or went to the loo. Oh my poor bear, I know its only the pox but I hate seeing him so sad. We watched ET earlier and he actually said (as ET was dying) "mummy I'm dying too" Sad

Indith · 16/12/2012 19:42

Oh the poor baby :(. I'd def ring the Dr in the morning, ours call you back with pox. They may want to take a look at the bad ones to make sure they don't get infected.

ds2 not good, dd neither. They just ca't seem to shift it and it is getting worse not better so I'll be trying to get them seen tomorrow.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 16/12/2012 20:32

Deids - your poos DS. My DDs had the pox really badly too. The GP prescribed a very strong antihistamine, much stronger then piriton, which did help a little. It got them to sleep. DD2 still has about 10 facial scars even 18 months on. It can be a terrible illness.

Indith - I hope your DD rallies soon.

DH a little better. I think he has the flu but he is slightly cooler today and has eaten a whole fruit yoghurt. He never agreed to see the doc but I'm less freaked out about head injuries now.

Beans36 · 16/12/2012 20:53

Wow. A busy weekend. RT, that sounds terrifying. Keep us updated, please.
Indith, how're your sicklies?

Had a lovely weekend. DH actually had a whole day at home yesterday. We got the tree up etc. Was magic. Had friends to stay and another couple for dinner. Vag, I cooked bought smoked salmon roulade! Hee hee! Then pheasant casserole with baked pots and broccoli. Then a chocolate torte with mixed berry coulis and cream. Then cheese. Tasty!

Friends left this morning, DH went to work at 8, then met him at his office at 4 with girls and onto engagement drinks and train home. Girls bathed and in bed by 7.30. DH back at work and staying in town tonight. Poor bugger.

I'll be in bed very soon. Poor dog been left at home, but a friend walked her thankfully.

God, I'm boring myself! Sorry.

DB how is DS sleeping? X

Indith · 16/12/2012 21:19

arti glad he seems ok, or at least normally ill.

Dd asleep early, ds2 alternating between hyper and fussing on me. He has been given calpol and this is the usual result. Still got a wheeze on him.

With dh actually here for an evening though we have wrapped all the presents except dd's birthday present as I keep forgetting to buy birthday wrapping paper Blush.

Urgh and during that ds2 has done a poo and started screaming again . He just needs sleep! Deep healing sleep! But my baby does not do sleep at the best of times Hmm.

Watching Hugh Fernley annoying eejit do Christmas on TV though and now want to make all manner of lovely food stuff. Sadly I have children and a messy house rather than a lovely big room, ingredients and all the time in the world. Still, my christmas biscuits for school and nursery are done and my candied peel is on racks drying. Tesco man is bringing more chocolate and almonds tomorrow so the florentine mixture will be made. Then there is just the gingerbread house to bake and construct and we shall be all Christmassed. Oh and dd;s brithday cake to make for her party on Saturday. Why on earth did we all decide to have Christmas babies? Idiots.

McKayz · 16/12/2012 21:24

Deids, quick post. When the boys had it the doctor said that they want to check ones near their eyes.

Had DS2's party today. Absolutely brilliant. The mums and dads are a lovely group compared to the ones from DS1's class.

JamInMyWellies · 16/12/2012 21:50

Another crazy birthday wkend here.. Seeing 13 children play the chocolate game and do hilarious dancing to musical statues in my kitchen with lovely friends and family around makes all the hard work worth while. Just the actual bday tom to look forward too. Can't wait to see how excited he is when he gets his pressie. Will post a FB pic. You will all die when you see what he is getting. GrinGrinGrinGrin

Have been hugging my lovelies much closer today. After what has happened in CT. been a very emotional wkend thinking how lucky I am.

DeidreBarlow · 16/12/2012 21:51

DS is awake. Red hot, can't get comfy...I'll ring GP in morning. See if they want me to go in or if he will prescribe over the phone. He just keeps crying saying it hurts.

Indith · 16/12/2012 22:03

oh db how horrid. why don't you ring NHS direct, sounds like he has it very badly. I don't know how quickly complications can develop Sad I was lucky with mine, they had it badly but in a sleep in the sofa fir a week way so it wad quite an easy week really!

spotofcheerfulness · 17/12/2012 08:16

Oh, your poor DS, DB. Sad. Sounds like he has a really bad case. Hope the GP can prescribe something strong.

Indith, I really feel for you with a poorly non-sleeping baby. You just want to say, "if I was in your shoes I'd be gagging for all that extra bed rest". But no. How is he this morning?

T has woken on his birthday covered in snot and with a hacking cough. I blame the "lurg trumpet" as it got called - T's instrument that got passed round his birthday tea on Saturday, which passed the mouths of several germ-ridden small people.

So glad you had a nice party, Jam, and that DS is so chuffed with his pressie!

Arti tha is damn scary about your DH. I understand his fear of getting a lurg at the hospital, but that's quite some resistance he put up. Glad he seems to be on the mend though. What a fright!

DeidreBarlow · 17/12/2012 11:52

Morning all - Happy Birthday to mini-jam! Hope he likes the present.

DS slept okay once we got him back to sleep. Phoned GP this am and got the worlds most stupid receptionist! Have you spoke to the pharmacist she said...they can give you stuff! No shit SherlockAngry. Asked to speak to a Dr, who she said " are very busy at this time of year"...Anyway they called and said prescription will be ready later this aft. DS was rather dramatically screaming in the background an hour after the piriton as he called, so I guess he understood how bad he was.

Indith · 17/12/2012 11:55

Glad you've got something.

Nolda · 17/12/2012 17:22

DB - I hope the doctor has come up with the goods and that your poor DS is no longer suffering so much.

Arti - Glad to hear that your DH is feeling a little better.

Jam - What did your DS get for his birthday? Sounds like he had a super party!

Indith and Spot - healing vibes for your boys coming your way.

My secret santa pressie has arrived safely but I'm going to be annoying and save it for Christmas Eve.

Arti - Going back quite a bit to your DD2 worrying about being left on the shelf, DS often asks me about how he is going to find a wife. I suggest we set them up, if they get to 35 without a partner. He has said that he will always wash his wife's car. Is there anything else I can brainwash him with now?

Beans36 · 17/12/2012 18:13

DB - how is DS tonight? Has the prescription kicked in? Luckily the damned pox don't stay for that long. DD1 had one in her eye, which was rubbing and making it red, so I took her in and they gave her Zovirax for it, but we didn't really need it.

Happy birthday Jam-let! How exciting!

Is it rank if I don't bathe my children tonight and just let them hop in the shower with me in the morning? I just can't honestly be arsed and they're loving 64 Zoo Lane. And being so good!

I have terrible backache at the moment. Suspect it's something to do with age, but I also wonder if it had something to do with my duff-related mishap. Kept me awake for an hour last night! Grrrr!

Wonder if DH will come home tonight.... Hmmm. Poor sod, working so hard.

I think it's time for a name change. Feeling festive....

Guess who?????

beansprouts37 · 17/12/2012 18:16
Xmas Wink
Indith · 17/12/2012 19:27

How is the poxed one?

Ds2 has a viral induced wheeze according to the Dr so we have steroids to attempt to get down him. They have to be dissolved in water and then he has to drink it but he doesn't really bother with any drinking vessels other than boobs!

I got it down him with a syringe tonight.

If it works he will sleep when he is better right?

DeidreBarlow · 18/12/2012 08:12

DS has been asleep all night, in fact he's still asleep now! Hopefully, thats a sign of improvement Smile. My mum is coming to watch him today so Ican go to work...I have never been so glad to get out of the house. I'm going bonkers. There is only so much kids TV you can handle before the brain starts shutting downGrin

indith How did DS2 sleep? DS had some little sachets of steroids when he was a baba for a bad cough and wheeze ( I think they said his was viral). Although he was weaned so we mixed it in with a little yogurt. We noticed a difference after a day or so...and yes as a result he slept better. Hope its the same for you. In fact DS has always been prone to wheezing after a bad cold/cough, so the Dr has prescribed those steroids a few times. I think they are really very good for littlies.

Indith · 18/12/2012 09:22

Glad he is resting and you are getting a break! At least all the christmas episodes are coming out for some variety!

ds2 won't sleep withou a nipple in his mouth at all times. i have had yrt another tossing, turning night. dh away again. Got to love trying to go for a wee between the hours of 7pm and 7am when the baby wants to stay asleep but doesn't want you to move an inch.

Glad to know the steroids should work quickly though. Poor baby is just so wheezy, rattly and snotty.

I have no idea how I am going to get done everything that needs to be done by Saturday though!

Honsandrevels · 18/12/2012 10:25

Deids Poor ds. Glad he can sleep now. Drs receptionists can be so awful. At our old practice they were fantastic and I'd always get them a nice box of chocs at Christmas. Our new ones are dreadful. Rude, incompetent, entirely inflexible. No chocs for them!

Indith Any improvement on the snot?

Nice name change beans!

I nearly forgot to tell you that dd's card was shown on cbeebies on Saturday. Dd was thrilled! Dd2 was supercute pointing to the screen then to dd1. I spent an age making the card Blush.

Last working day before Christmas, best get on...

beansprouts37 · 18/12/2012 15:45

Indith, as sleep is so bad anyway, do you think now could be the time to try DS in his own cot and seeing if he will eventually settle without you? I know it's tough, but maybe grab the bull by the horns and do it? Obviously still in your room if that's what you want, but perhaps he needs to go cold turkey to break the habit? X

Indith · 18/12/2012 15:58

Not when he is poorly beans, he is still very wheezy and rattles when he breathes so not now. When he is well then probably we will try something yes

JamInMyWellies · 18/12/2012 16:14

More to add to the sick note pile. DS1 sent home this afternoon. DH wheezing away at work. Me hotter than a Christmas pud. Joy!
