How's this? Thought I'd just press on with it!

DS packed off to bed with piriton and calamine aqueous cream smeared all over him...the pharmacist recommended it as it is less drying than the lotion. Seems pretty good although I think he may only have a mild dose of pox as he has no spots on his face or legsHmm. Although who knows what he might wake up like!!

Have you seen that shooting in the US. Heartbreaking. Those poor children and families. I had to turn the news off, DD was watching and I don't have words to explain to her what has just happened.

Beans36 · 15/12/2012 07:29

DB we used something called poxclin which was good and DD1, who had it worse than DD2, spent her worst day wrapped naked in a towel, hopping in and out of the shower as it really helped. And I let her rub the pox in her hair as we wouldn't be able to see any scars and it seemed to give her some relief!
How was your night?

DD2 up for an hour screaming on and off. Not what I need with people coming to stay today and a dinner party tonight and a grotty cough. Poor me poor me! Hee hee!

Poor you indeed Beans. Are they fun people coming to stay? What are you cooking (I love hearing what you cook) hope you both feel a bit better for it.

Deids that calamine aqueous sounds good, calamine was losing favour due to the drying itchy thing so good to see they stepped up. The other stuff on the market is good but expensive. Beans wet towel & showers is a good idea too.

We have DS2 prehistoric party today. Should be fun & lots of dinosaur themed games. We have kept it very small only 6 kids (hooray) we figured with him starting school next year will be bigger so we can enjoy the last small party. Also I don't think DS2 would handle a big party.

Deids I was just thinking back to DS1 at the same age (well from 3 @ least) & actually I think he was the same, he loved be in a familiar place & hated big noisy places & parties with lots of kids. He just reacted differently to DS2 was teary & sulky. It was a little easier to handle, but people used to comment on how "sensitive" he was.

Very scary start to the day. DD2 woke to go to the loo and DH, who has a feverish cold, went into the bathroom to wipe her. I could hear them chatting then I heard a huge crashing noise which I thought was DD2 knocking something over. After a few seconds I thought it odd that DH didn't say anything to her about whatever accident she'd had, then I heard her say "wake-up Daddy, try and get up". I ran into the bathroom and DH was unconscious on the floor with his neck bent funny against the floor. I tried to rouse him but he was out cold. I ran back to the bedroom to find my phone & try & call an ambulance but kept putting in 999 instead of my passcode so it would not work. Ran back to bathroom where DH was still unresponsive but making odd deep rumbly growling noise. Just as I got through to 999 he woke up and insisted he was fine. Cancelled ambulance and helped DH crawl back to bed where he has been asleep ever since. Terrifying. I'm terrible at health scares, DD2 was much calmer and just kept calmly talking to DH as I flapped about.

Need coffee. No stupid preggo decaf this morning.

Do you think I should get DH to a doctor? He will refuse.

Back later to catch-up properly but have time for a quick "hello" to snowwombat. I remember you and why you had to leave our antenatal thread and I'm so glad you went on to have a healthy DD. Lovely news.

DeidreBarlow · 15/12/2012 08:26

Oh my arti that sounds so frightening! How long was he out for? I would get him to get a check up if you can get him to an OOH Dr. I passed out a couple of years ago in the bathroom and chipped my teeth, split my lip etc. I only went to the emergency dentist but he said I really should have had a Dr give me the once over too.

DS slept okay. He does have a few more spots today, although thankfully not loads. But they are definite blisters and he has 3 or 4 on his face. No pre school for him this week. Poor thing will miss all his Christmas parties Sad

McKayz · 15/12/2012 08:47

Arti, that's very scary. I would certainly take him to the OOH. He might have banged his head and needs to be checked out.

Poor DS Deids. I hope he doesn't get it too bad.

Really busy here so must dash. Got to go out for DS2's birthday treat and then finish sorting stuff for his party tomorrow.

Indith · 15/12/2012 09:23

Oh my Arti that is scary, yes def get him to the Dr.

Dd and ds2 still snotty and coughing. Dd hideous at night, Soooo tired! Dh out tonight too for rowing club Christmas dinner and staying over with a mate Envy. This weekend is looking like one long weekend of me staying in the house with the dcs and him being out and about and doing stuff. Again.

Is it the holidays yet?

JamInMyWellies · 15/12/2012 09:45

Gosh this high fever thing that is going around is really scary. Hope DH is feeling better. It seems to be horrendously high with a hacking cough for 48hrs then just becomes a dreadful cold.

DS2 is thankfully back to his normal bonkers self today. Fever gone but still coughing.

Indith · 15/12/2012 11:21

not noticed a fever in mine really though I guess ds2 was sweaty the other night but I just want ds2 and dd to be well, it has been weeks now! Cough snot cough snot and dd has been so hoarse and her glands are up in her neck. She just yells at me and strops at being asked to do things and collapses in a puddle yelling "I'm just too tired". I've just got ds2 off to sleep in the sling after he screamef and screamed and screamed. I'm fed up.

VagolaJahooli · 15/12/2012 12:51

Sorry haven't read all posts but Arti you need to get him to the A&E for a check up any time you lose consciousness you should get checked out.

Nolda · 15/12/2012 13:01

OMG, Arti! How scary for you all. Drs/A&E no question. Laying on all emotional blackmail with a trowel, if necessary.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 15/12/2012 13:19

Thanks for all the advice. DH refuses to go to A&E partly because of the norovirus outbreak. He says the last thing we need is more germs. He is really ill though: temp of 103, asleep for all but 10 mins since 7.30am. I'm worried about the faint but he says it's just a virus and he once fainted after just waking up when he was 21 so apparently that makes it all ok. Gah, men, why can't they get illnesses treated?

Indith · 15/12/2012 13:21

if you ring ooh they will give you advice, maybe even house call if you can't keep him awake as you'd struggle to get him there yourself with the children too.

VagolaJahooli · 15/12/2012 13:28

Arti good luck with getting him looked at. Does he know what happened, did he pass out because he is ill or did he slip & hit something. Anyway, whatever happened anytime you lose consciousness it really needs to be checked up. Is he awake now?

Have had DS2's prehistoric party today was great fun & the kids loved it. Sent home very happy kids. DS2 loved it.

Watching the news so sad, but amazed by the bravery of the school staff. What a brave bunch of people. Broke my heart seeing one young teacher telling how she told her little students that she loved them because she thought that might be the last thing they heard and she wanted them to hear that they are loved.

VagolaJahooli · 15/12/2012 13:32

What is 'ooh' I think I need to call that number Indith sounds interesting Xmas Wink

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 15/12/2012 13:52

OOH is out of hours GP service Veg. Sadly Indith it it invonceivale that you'd get a home visit in London. Anyway I did call them earlier & they said A&E just like you guys. DH won't go. I can see his point about norovirus, we'd all have to go and we cld all get ill, but I'd do it if he wld agree. He is asleep again.

Indith · 15/12/2012 16:08

Oh FFS dh went to the shop. I asked for sugar to make the biscuits for school/nursery and for salted butter. He came back with granulated sugar and lightly salted butter.

Arti hope dh is ok and that you manage to drag him to see someone.

VagolaJahooli · 15/12/2012 18:02

Arti Ms Clinton did exactly the same thingas your DH this morning and she's in hospital. He's in good company.

VagolaJahooli · 15/12/2012 18:02

Sorry I lie she's recovery at home

DeidreBarlow · 15/12/2012 18:45

Poor DS is covered in pox!! I can't believe how quickly they have come out today. Only a couple on his face but he has loads in his hair Sad. DD is freaked out and keeps saying she doesn't want it, poor girl. I just keep dosing him up and slapping on the cream, that seems to help. Oh and being in the bath helps so he's had a few of them.

Arti how is DH?

Indith · 15/12/2012 19:15

poor boy. Virasoothe is good. Expensive but good.

Nolda · 15/12/2012 19:25

DB So sorry that your DS has the pox. I remember when my DS had it, he was so miserable. Your poor DD too, worrying about it. I hope she doesn't get it too badly.

Indith · 15/12/2012 20:27

ds2 is all wheezy. What point to you get worried about wheezing with littlies? He is thinking about falling asleep on me finally. Dh staying out overnight and has probably drunk a fair bit already so OOH would be hard tonight!

Oh the screaming started again.

Honsandrevels · 15/12/2012 20:37

Hello everyone,

Glad the party went well Vag.

Arti That must have been super scary. I see his point about getting norovirus but that temp is very high. Does it reduce when he has paractamol?

Deids Much sympathy on the pox. Have you given him piriton? That is meant to help I've been told. We've not had the pox, I dread them getting it.

Snowwombat Thanks for popping in. I'm so pleased you have a lovely dc. I've often wondered how you were. Merry Christmas and happy birthday to your dc!

Honsandrevels · 15/12/2012 20:41

I have no idea Indith, although I know two people with dcs with no previous asthma being rushed to hospital in the past month with wheezing and breathing probs, so I'd be inclined to take him if you are worried. Can you ring nhs direct?
