Exhausted Sad

Thechick · 10/11/2012 07:22

Oh how exciting. Congrats DH and all the others who have had their babies. Hope all are doing well.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/11/2012 07:35

Congratulations to the new arrivals !

DD1 went to the Dr yesterday as she has had a temperature for a few days, and I mentioned LO has a runny nose too, so the paediatrician had a listen to her chest too and confirmed they both have a cold. First cold at 3 weeks! dd1 was 8 months before her first runny nose!

Anyway while she was listening she picked up a heart murmer. Says nothing to worry about for now and she will listen more closely at her 1 month check up next week and decide whether or not to prescribe a scan.

Must admit my blood ran cold at the words heart murmer but apparently it's very common so will discuss more next Thursday. Surprised that they didn't pick it up at the hospital though.

horseylady · 10/11/2012 09:38

Congrats dh and the other graduates!!!! My little man is 2 weeks old today!!! How time flies!! Had a good chat and cry with the breast feeding councillor yesterday. I never thought this would be us but it is.

He sleeps through till between 3 and 5 am then awakes again about 6.30 to 8. He's been in this pattern for the last week. He feeds well is getting so much bigger and much more interested in things now. He watches me for ages!! He loves cuddles so I think my wrap will be great when dh returns to work next week!

I've had his dr appointment through it's new years eve??!! We were thinking about going to friends so how grumpy can they be post jabs?

blonderthanred · 10/11/2012 10:01

That's lovely to hear Horsey, you were the day after me so we celebrated 2 weeks yesterday and I'm noticing the same things, it's so amazing to see his little eyes start to take in the world (and for him to be awake and not feeding/pooing, just content - occasionally!)

StuntNun · 10/11/2012 10:09

Horsey my DS1 was grizzly after his first and second set of jabs but fine after his third set. DS2 took them all in his stride. If he's two months old then you can give Calpol before he has them which would prevent any post-immunisation fever. (When DS1 was that age you couldn't give them Calpol that young!)

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/11/2012 10:24

Oops posted on the wrong thread! Clearly no sleep doesn't agree with me!

DonnaDoon · 10/11/2012 11:07

Congratulations DH21 and anyone Ive missed (must read through properley later)....my dd has baby acne ...(no Ive never heard of it before either) docs say its my hormones swimming about inside her and will pass soon...its only on her face but looks awful (bright red and angry looking)..but it doesnt bother her so thats the main thing.

DonnaDoon · 10/11/2012 11:10

Also is anyone else concerned about their babys eyes? DD is 5wks tomorrow and still doesnt hold my gaze IYSWIM...she prefers to gaze over my shoulder when feeding and look at the blinds/window :(

daisychain76 · 10/11/2012 12:25

Congrats dh and the other new graduatese. Hi Yw. I got a cheeky wipes reusable wipes kit which is nice but you can get all you need cheaper off places like Amazon. l got 25 wipes but l am going to get another 25 cos it is amazing how fast we get through them.

Hope your LO gets over their cold
soon and the murmur is not serious PR. Donna my LO does not hold my gaze a lot, but think he?s just distracted by lights. Has she had her 6 week check?

Today was my due date. Can?t believe he?s 7 weeks on Monday!

YellowWellies · 10/11/2012 13:31

thechick how do you manage to formula feed at night and BF during the day and not lose your supply? Do you pump at night? As I'd love to lose one of our three night feeds.

As for premmie, he was only a week off being fully cooked. The wee man turned up at 36 weeks on the nose - which would normally mean an air ambulance trip to Aberdeen but as their SCBU had no cots we were allowed to have him up here.

ValiumQueen · 10/11/2012 13:33

donna it is very early days for their eyes still. Do not worry. The fact that baby is looking at anything is good.

YW washable wipes are just little flannels. You can buy kits or make your own. You can use fancy potions, or just water. Maybe get some baby flannels from pound land, 6 for a quid, to see how you get on with them. If you have such a shop near you, that is. It is worth thinking how you will wash them. Are you happy to just put them in the usual wash? You will need to wash daily. I have about 50 and wash each day. I made my own out of fluffy fleece, and they are ideal for wee's and BF poos. I am making some bamboo ones for when solids are introduced and a bit more scrubbing is required. I just use water. I got a plastic pampers wipes container and just have an inch of water in that, changing it at least daily. I store the wipes dry, wet as required, and wash with the nappies. I used to spend a fortune on wipes. I wish I had tried them years ago.

Shattered today. After a few good nights, his lordship was nearly listed on eBay last night. He was feeding non stop, and even though I was right there next to him he did some mega howling. Just a growth spurt, but I am exhausted.

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/11/2012 14:18

Anyone else has terrible wind after birth? I swear its making my after pains loads worse. Don't remember this bit with ds! Funny how easily you forget.

Elizadoesdolittle · 10/11/2012 14:31

Hi ladies and thanks pass for adding me to the list.

Ella made a very speedy entry to the world yesterday morning. Didn't make it to hospital and DH delivered her at home 20 mins after my waters broke.

Everything's well and it's my birthday today so enjoying newborn cuddles at home. Will catch up on all the post natal news later. Looking forward to chatting about our babies Smile hope everyone is well.

YellowWellies · 10/11/2012 16:48

Oh wow Eliza!!!! What an amazing birth. Well done on your DH - mine would have passed out in panic I reckon Grin. Hope you are all well.

I'm having an hour of baby free time whilst DH and my sis and the babies (mine and hers) have a stroll around Stromness - so I can finally invoice my client and close down my freelancing for the next few months. The first half hour of 'me' time was fab. Am missing them now. Hurry back - even the wee one what shits his pants..... grrr

NervousAt20 · 10/11/2012 16:52

Wow eliza sounds like you and your DH did a fab job and congratulations on baby Ella, that was one of my favorite names Smile

Thechick · 10/11/2012 17:27

YW I use fenugreek to help with my supply and I pump at 2am. I don't ever feed him a bottle, it's always dh and its been working well for us.

ValiumQueen · 10/11/2012 17:44

I am back to my pre pg weight today. DS is 16 days old. I am like those celebrities Grin very pleased as had two stone to shift after DD1 and 3 after DD2. Might even try my moby wrap on.

DD2 seems fine now, and even did a roll-off poo! Roll off poos are a big deal when using washables!

DS is lying on his Lotty the Ladybird play mat safely in his babyjail play pen. A bit young for a play pen, obviously. This it to protect him from DD2. He can still be poked with long things, and is vulnerable to air attack, but deffo the safest place. I have considered moving in with him.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 10/11/2012 17:58

VQ that is incredible. I am designed to take 18 months this to shift the blob.

I am still in hosp. I had a haemorrhage after my lovely birth (which has happened after all my 3 natural births) and so looked like a ghost and needed monitoring and LO hasn't been very well they are not sure what it is whether it is an infection or just some leftover gunk on his lungs from birth. Anyway he was in SCBU yesterday, which was very upsetting. Now. he is on antibiotics and has a load of paraphanilia sticking out of his arm. Though he is beckon the ward with me.

I am struggling with feeding. I had forgotten how hard it is. Every time he gets near my boob today he gets really agitated and won't latch on, my nips are really sore and cracked from all the on off on off to try and get him latching on properly. We have been up pretty much solid since 3 am on Thurs and so tray I gave in and gave him a bit of formula. I am now destined to be attached to Ermentrude for the foreseeable.

I am wondering if the fact we both have lots of tubes poking out of us is making us a bit cack handed.

Xx

horseylady · 10/11/2012 18:02

I packed away my mat clothes today!! Not that I've really worn them post birth. Just deciding whether to eBay them or keep them? Not sure I can go through labour again and everything else but apparently the scars fade?!!

How long do you think till I can ride again? Or have sex?! Or run?!

horseylady · 10/11/2012 18:14

Oh my other question(s) are crying - when does this stop?! Took little man to the grave today and I burst into tears. Poor dh. He said it was him who was supposed to cry!! I assume this calms down soon?

Question 2. Should I be lookingat different formulas or just stick with what I'm using (SMa?) as he seems ok just a bit colicy? If I do change do you just change? Perhaps I'll ask mw.

Thanks!!

blonderthanred · 10/11/2012 18:16

VQ love the idea of you moving into your playpen with DS!

Is it ok to use the sling so soon after the CS? For some reason I assumed I'd have to wait a while. I'd love to start using mine as L is a bit Velcro-y and also would help with the cluster feeding if we can do it in the sling.

Glad to hear your DDs are feeling better.

L did a projectile poo up DH's arm earlier. We were slightly hysterical. He seems to either leak it out like a dripping tap or fart it out with velocity. Hope that's not abnormal. Actually I am having an 'Is That Normal?' day and googling everything I'm worrying about.

NervousAt20 · 10/11/2012 18:21

Glad you've got your LO back with you on the ward sophia cracked and sore nipples make bf so much harder I hope it clears up for you soon

I weighed myself last week and was 6 pound of my ore pregnancy weight and I gained about 2 stone, hoping to loose that and at least and extra half a stone before Christmas, having a junk tonight though with my mum while DP is out "wetting the babies head"

Not sure if I should keep my maternity clothes or not either, I deffinatly have rose tinted glasses now, when I was pregnant I though I'm only doing this once I dot think I could again and now I think it wasn't that bad I supose Hmm

NervousAt20 · 10/11/2012 18:23

blonder my DD farts fires her poos out too and always has, there not quite either Grin she's also had a couple of good aims at us
