I understand - I had a little weep at one point while we were doing it too. I did it at nap times rather than bedtimes (she was still BFing to sleep in the evening at the time) because it seemed less awful in the day time somehow.

I know they pat the little ones to sleep at nursery so maybe that it is worth a try. It might be awful at first but I'm sure it'll get easier and less knackering with time!

DD was an awful napper before we cracked it - she always woke after about 45 mins and seemed permanently knackered. She now often naps for two glorious hours after lunch, tis brill!

UnderwaterCasketWeaving · 01/11/2012 20:51

Hope you're already over the worst, Kitty. Stomach bugs are the absolute worst.

Chilli, that's what F's been doing at bedtime recently. It drives me insane.

F is now demanding we rub his back, which I don't mind while he's lying quietly with his eyes closed. But after a while he starts handing me his toys or asking for a book, or getting up, etc.

The only effective thing I've found is to sit in his room (so we don't get the constant "Mummy, mummy, mummy, daddy, daddy, mummy..." Which then leads to wailing. And I can mn/read while repeating "lie down, close your eyes..." Etc. This takes about 30 mins (to an hour) but seems to be the most agreeable option on everyone's part.

We use music with s. he used to be a nightmare. I started with pick up put down but at 6.5 months flipped and let him cry. He cried for ten mins first time, then 3 then slept and has been fine since. I used to sing row ur boat while rocking him so I recorded that onto his intercom. He goes to sleep to it now and if he won't settle. Good luck.

MrsWajs · 01/11/2012 21:52

I'll join you in stomach bug hell kitty i started at 4 this morning with cramps and diarrhoea which has now progressed to passing blood in my stool. Drs are relatively unconcerned and have told me i most likely have a fissure or pile - this was all via phone appt obviously!!
I'm not happy with this explanation as blood + pain = bad in my mind so going to go back tomorrow morning for a second opinion. I'll obviously look a bit melodramatic if i do just have a pile but hey ho!

On the speech front R seems to be coming on leaps & bounds and like UBW we haven't really done anything specific with her. This morning she brought a piece of paper and a cotton bud to me while i was in the bathroom and said "draw picture", she'll also count to 4 while going up and down steps! I'm incredibly proud Grin

Kittycatcat · 01/11/2012 22:21

mrsw I suffer with ibs and piles and I do bleed but it could also gastroenteritis (sp). I've had those symptoms with that before. You def need to get checked.
I actually pood myself a tiny but earlier Blush fortunately I was just out of the shower! I think it's affecting a as hes getting terrible pains. He's always had trouble but I put it down to his tt but the last few days have been awful. He's screaming in pain. I've got gripe water but it's not easy to get down him.

Kittycatcat · 02/11/2012 18:10

Me again. S is off his food (unless it's chocolate or cake). Amd he has a blood shot eye on the tear duct area. Runny nappy yesterday but had lots lately cos of his teeth. And fell asleep cuddled up to me in the chair earlier which he never does. Only slept for half hour and hasn't mapped since. Ideas?

GlaikitFizzog · 02/11/2012 18:18

Carrot cake for one of his 5 a day..... Sorry not helpful!

If he is feeling crappy I would just give him what he wants. B has just had fish fingers and mash for his tea because he refused the beautiful chicken stew I made point blank!

If you think his eye is conjunctivitis give him his own towel and flannel to avoid the rest of you getting it. If he'll let you, bathe his eye is a salt water solution. But if he is anything like B he run a mile! And pick upo something at the chemists tomorrow.

And plenty to drink, milk or water. If I'm worried about Bs fluid intake I add a tiny, and I mean tiny, amount of squash to his water. But let him see me doing it, so he can see its "special" and he will drink that in a flash.

Hope you are all on the mend soon.

GlaikitFizzog · 02/11/2012 20:03

Urgh, dh out at a work thing tonight so I was left to do bedtime alone, all was going good guns, bar B putting both legs through one leg hole, then he slipped walking up stairs, cried, coughed and the puked all ove himself, me the stairs and the upstairs landing.

Got hims tripped bathed him again quickly, clean jamas on. Just had a shower myself. I'm hoping that's him down now :(

GlaikitFizzog · 02/11/2012 20:03

Should say I did fix the leg situation before sending him upstairs!!

Kittycatcat · 02/11/2012 20:23

Oh no fizz. Not what u need. Did lol at the image of him walking like that.

Thanks. There no way he will let me. I'll show him to the pharmacist tomorrow. He drinks quite well. He has 'tea' with me in the morning and always had his water handy and asks for more when it's low.

Taught s to 'cheers' yest. Tonight he was doing it with his dinner bowl!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/11/2012 08:56

Hope you're feeling better mrsW Brew

I also hope the poorly babies are on the mend too. Both boys here have colds, ds3 has particularly vile thick green snot. Both had a vapour plug-in in their rooms last night, so upstairs smells lovely. And both slept from 7-7.30 - hurrah!

We're off to buy fireworks today

Oooooh, forgot to mention kitty, you and my sister have a mutual friend on FB

Kittycatcat · 03/11/2012 10:44

Blimey I shall nose

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/11/2012 12:04

Both me and your friend were on a thread my sister started. When your friend put a comment on the thread I got a FB notification and it mentioned you were a friend of hers - something I had never noticed on notifications before.

Kittycatcat · 03/11/2012 12:48

Strange. Oddly the friend in q is the reason I changed my name briefly!

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 13:00

Funny you should mention that iLike! You have a friend who is friends with one of my friends too!

It may be that she is some sort of professional person y have both used, rather than an actual friend though!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/11/2012 15:03

Ooooh, tell me more Fizz.

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 15:17

In Edinburgh and looks like a dancer of some sort, you would maybe use her services on a hen night initials A G.

I think this proves you are the all seeing eye and the key to life itself!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/11/2012 16:02

Ha ha, no not a professional contact. We grew up together.

Six degrees of separation and all that Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 03/11/2012 16:27

Small world indeed then my friends Aberdeen born and bred so I wonder how she knows her??

Sorry I kinda made her sound sleazy that's not what I think at all!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/11/2012 18:54

We come from a sleepy Suffolk village and she comes from a well known family in that village, so I can tell you her profession raised a lot of eyebrows! She was always the wild child at school.

I never knew I was the key to life itself, maybe I should put it on my CV?! Grin

Starshaped · 03/11/2012 21:20

I am intrigued by your mutual friend's profession...I want to Facebook herself myself Grin

Kittycatcat · 04/11/2012 00:09

Argh. S has been sick. All over himself and his bed. Thankfully bear was safe. Had to put the lot duvet and all in the machine. Typically dh is out. Fortunately A stayed asleep in his swing while I sorted S out. Now feeding A while S lays in his cot to his music but he's not sleeping. Called dh to come home but he will be a couple of hours probably. Long night coming up I feel.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 04/11/2012 00:16

Oh no, Kitty. Hope it's a one-off randomer.

MrsWajs · 04/11/2012 02:47

I am feeling much better now thanks ILTMI so much so that I am back at work tonight but only for one shift - hurrah!
Am a bit peeved that this bug may have interfered with my TTC plans for the month though! Pretty sure ov may have passed, or with any luck is about now but have been out of action for the last 2 nights and am now at work tonight so might be missing the window as we speak!!

Eugh to vomitting toddler Kitty Hope he's settled a bit now and there's no more sick :(

So how are the early rising babies toddlers doing?? I tried Frakks suggestion of a "master reset"...........epic fail!! She went to bed at 10.30pm and still got up at 6.45 so giving us an extra 20 or so minutes sleep....yay ShockAngry She then proceeded to be a grumpy little bissim for the rest of the day!!!
Is this going to end soon or is this my life now, starting the day at 6am every morning?! I am amazed that these days I'd consider 8am a long lie!!

GlaikitFizzog · 04/11/2012 06:20

I'm in the pre 6am club today!

What makes it worse is that we were out last night to the cinema and only got to bed just before one

He's been sick again :( but I'm pretty sure it's linked to his cough rather than a bug. It goes coughing fit - bit of sick - up and running again quickly!

I feel sick this morning, but that might be more to do with dealing with sick at this ungodly hour. I wish I took yesterday morning now ..........
