ips :( hugs to all and hope you have the time you need to recover

strawberry I'm guessing you don't want anything too involved so I would just suggest the museums with some wandering/cafe's in between. Free good ones are the pitt rivers, natural history (both adjoining but quite small so nice) and the ashmolean (though on the other side of town so a little walk). City centre is quite compact and nice to walk around. Some of the colleges might have their gardens open. Otherwise there is the bus tour, at no point do you go far from the centre so you could get off at any time if you needed to head back to the hospital. I would invite you over, but we are still full of cold so don't want to pass anything on. Botanical gardens are also quite cheap.

So sorry to hear your news ips Sad

TallyBear · 13/11/2012 21:19

Ips I'm so sorry. I had one before Seb so I know how truly horrendous and devastating it is. I am guessing from what you say that it was a MMC, which is what I had. I just went straight for the ERPC with a GA to get it over and done with. But whatever you are most comfortable with.... You need to work out how to get through this in your own way. I found the mc forums on here really helpful just to talk through in an anonymous and unjudgmental way, but please feel free to pm me on here or fb if you want some moral support.

It didn't make me feel any better but you'd be surprised how many people have had a mc. It's so common but because we are not supposed to tell people until 12 weeks and it's 'safe' you just don't hear about them. After I had mine two of my friends said they'd had one before.

LittlePebble · 13/11/2012 21:34

ips so sorry to hear that Sad
I hope you get home soon to see more of N soon. Xx

CheshireDing · 13/11/2012 22:35

Ips sending hugs (even un-Mumsnetty ones) and thinking of you :(

Penelope1980 · 14/11/2012 08:44

Sorry about your news ips

tally that's why I feel weird about the 12 week rule and still told close people to me about A when it was still early days, although a lot of people were Hmm about it

strawberrypenguin · 14/11/2012 12:24

Half way through our second day of pre-op testing. We have seen so many people I can't even remember half of them. Billy had his eyes and ears tested yesterday and blood taken, we also met with the geneticist. This morning we have spoken to his consultant seen he developmentalist and the speech and language therapist. Billy has for the most part been a real star and has charmed everyone.

Thanks for the recommendations climbing hope you all feel better soon

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 14/11/2012 16:39

sp hope everything is going ok. Glad to hear W is being great with it all! Smile

Good luck today SP! Xx

ipswichwitch · 15/11/2012 08:18

sp I'm keeping everything crossed for you and W today. I hope all goes well. Its amazing even when our little ones are being prodded and poked by the drs, they still manage to charm them all!

I'm home now. The tablets finally worked, just as they were getting me sorted for surgery. Having a scan in 7-10 days to check everything came out. Just getting plenty of rest and enjoying N who is getting more mobile by the day. He'll be walking very soon, then god help our poor cat! Thanks for the support everyone. The 12 week rule kind of doesn't apply to me pene. Because I work with radiation I have to tell work as soon as I fall pregnant as my job needs to change.

LittlePebble · 15/11/2012 08:23

ips glad you're home. Can i ask if it make it easier or harder that people know you were pregnant? How's your DH? Are your family and work supportive? Xx

ipswichwitch · 15/11/2012 10:54

Thanks lp. I actually think its made it that bit easier. I've been amazed by how many others have been through it too, and how little it gets talked about. I find it a bit of a paradox that many don't tell anyone they are pregnant until 12 week scan in case something goes wrong, but surely if the worst does happen people find out then? My SIL didn't tell us she was pregnant until she miscarried at 8 weeks and ended up in hospital. To me it seems pointless as last time we had no issues til 34 weeks when we lost A, and obviously everyone knew I was pregnant then. Maybe I just see it from a different perspective. Hope that made sense, still getting things right in my own head.
People have been very supportive, work said take all the time I need. DH is being v supportive and stayed with me in hospital the whole time. He's coping we'll and we're talking lots which is good. He's at work today (no pay if he's not but I'm ok with him going in since I plan on sleep and bad telly today), but he's calling me often.N went to nursery so I can rest, and he'd have much more fun there. We're so lucky to have such a wonderful little boy :)

strawberrypenguin · 15/11/2012 20:16

W is now in PHDU after a successful surgery looking a bit swollen with a new head shape and his large skin tag removed from his ear as a bonus!

Glad your home ips take it easy

LittlePebble · 15/11/2012 20:24

Yay SP so glad the op was successful. X

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 15/11/2012 20:38

Straw that's great news. Smile

Ips/lp it is a very odd thing. We told close family and a few friends both times. Family didn't know what to do and some of them kept away, which hurt, but friends were so supportive. Odd but beforehand I would have thought it would be the other way. Ips I'm glad you didn't need to go through the surgery, as it sounded like you didn't want to. Make the most of your 'you' time.

BuntCadger · 15/11/2012 22:54

ips sorry to read that you've had a miscarriage :( it's so taboo but happens so much and is so upsetting. We had mmc just before Jessica, would of been due in the July. Then I look at Jessica and know that it must've happened for a reason else I wouldn't have her.

strawberry glad surgery went well, must be huge relief.

Who was it whose baby had uneven creases? We have to see GP next week as 12m review and J has uneven and extra creases and her bum cheeks aren't aligned. She is walking tho. Also being referred again re lip tie. She has glue ear (like Samuel) and both referred for eyes too. Never simple here :-/

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 15/11/2012 23:16

bunt S has the uneven leg creases. When we were at hospital for the skin tag on her bum it was the doctor who noticed but never mentioned it again at the follow up. She is walking fine but I think she leads more with the side that's not got the crease, if that makes sense? But then again I don't know if I'm imagining that. But looking at the photo i just put on fb, it's not really that noticeable. Her legs aren't 'chubby' so it's only the 1 roll at the top that she has on her left leg. Who noticed it with J?

I had a mc a few years ago. I never knew myself I was pregnant so was only about 5/6 weeks (I was unsure of the dates). I didn't tell anyone apart from my dp at the time Sad

ipswichwitch · 16/11/2012 09:49

Glad the op went so well sp. How is W doing today? Will he be allowed home soon? Must be a relief it's finally done.

Talking of leg creases, N finally has some! He's getting proper chunky now and eating like a horse. He's bum shuffling so fast now compared to a week ago, and walking with hand holding really well. He'll be off and running before we know it!

sassy34264 · 16/11/2012 15:52

So sorry ipswich Big hugs to you.

bunt Hope everything is ok with your 2 lo's. x

CheshireDing · 16/11/2012 23:38

Glad everything went ok Strawberry

Anyone have any better suggestions than teething powder and Calpol ? P has been screaming for 90 minutes, which is less than the midnight-2.30am she did the other day :(

I cant bear constant screaming babies and flick between feeling sorry for her then annoyed < horrid mummy > :(

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/11/2012 23:40

Have you tried ibuprofen? I'm sure it's better for pain. Poor you, I can't hack the crying either, it winds me up Sad

OP posts:
MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/11/2012 23:43

Quick google is saying it can be more effective for teething so I'd try that. Can't think of anything else Confused
