ips I saw on the other thread, many congratulations :) :)

turned out I had a chest infection and after a day on antibiotics I'm already feeling a lot more human. Just mostly back pain now from the coughing. My asthma meds have been upped by three times as well for the duration as the two were playing off each other.

DCs might even get a proper dinner today.

I don't work and DCs still have a nursery session (used to be two, but now just one).

Penelope1980 · 18/10/2012 09:44

This discussion of guilt and sending dcs to nursery when we don't have to strictly have to makes me a little sad that so much of being a mother seems to be feeling guilty. Why do we all feel like this I wonder?

sassy34264 · 18/10/2012 09:49

Morning.

Sorry about the op strawberry It must be so frustrating and emotionally draining. Hope you get a new date to focus on soon.

Congratulations ips on the pregnancy and your wedding.

Glad you are feeling better penguin Chest infections are nasty.

I forgot to say, that Eva is fully mobile! She has been taking steps for months, but fell over every 2 or 3 at first, and then last week, she was making it half way across the room, and this week, she can just stay up!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Where is my baby?

She is going to be 1 tomorrow. The year has literally just whizzed by.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/10/2012 10:36

Happy belated birthday to baby pebble Smile

Not much happening around here.. S hasn't taken any more reactions which is great. She has a new game she likes to play, hide and seek. But not as you would know it, she likes to hide my things then I spend the next few hours trying to find them. The other day it was the house phone, later found it in her toy box, yesterday it was my hair brush, found it in the bottom if her changing table HmmGrin.
She managed to climb on the couch yesterday as well. I walked in to find her up, laying back chilling out watching the news!!!
Getting very cold here in the mornings (gro egg said 16.1 degrees in her room when I got her up!) so I'm off to the curtain shop tomorrow to get the thermal lining to do her curtains. Heating has been set to come on and off for a bit through the night but I hate to think she is cold Sad

pene

crossed posts before. I dont feel guilty at all! its a pity they have to be 2 years, otherwise id have eva going as well.

i dont see it as me fobbing them off on nursery. I see it as me giving them a social life. Grin

pity im not more well off and then they could go every morning. Wink

Engelsemama · 18/10/2012 12:14

Wow! congrats ips ! Am so excited for you!

ed good luck for what lies ahead. Hoping everything works out for you.

pen and chesh I don't feel guilty when M's at nursery - I just kept forgetting that's where he was Grin and was having way too much fun yesterday to feel guilty I bought myself beautiful boots yesterday as well

duck another sofa climber! M managed it once or twice last week - so funny to watch him getting frustrtade when he can't quite get his leg up. Arf at "chilling out watching the news"

well done walking eva sassy - amazing how quick they pick it up once they've made the first few steps. Hope she has a good birthday tomorrow.

Just back from session with photographer. not amazing successful as she wanted M to be sitting down all the time which he really doesn't want to do right now! We get one "free" photo (session itself was only 5 euros) and then the rest of the photos are RIDICULOUSLY expensive....over 200 euros for 11 photos and a CD of the rest Shock ...so we may be just sticking with our freebie Blush

Feeling lazy and sleepy. M and DH are both napping, so I may snuggle down and wtach the rest of Twilight (got sidetracked yesterday!).

Engelsemama · 18/10/2012 12:15

Blush at all my typing errors

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 18/10/2012 14:59

engels am Envy @ twilight i'm currently sitting at work listening to people moan. and not skiving on MN at all

Engelsemama · 18/10/2012 19:12

The more I watch the Twilight films the harder I find it to take them seriously, but I just can't help swooning at Robert Pattinson ed . He is totally gorgeous. I love his hair

I actually left DH to it this afternoon with M since it's his daddy day anyway, so shut myself in the kitchen to write tahnk you cards and as letter to my best friend. A bit Angry at DH - he hasn't changed a single nappy all day and when I told asked him to take M to bed (after I'd given him a bath...M not DH Grin ) he made some feeble excuse about collecting his parents' post instead (which he did, but wouldn't you rather put your very-easy-at-bedtimes child to bed than go outside and collect some crappy free papers?). sometimes I don't understand men.

have bought M some new pyjamas as he only has one pair that fit him now and am having to drag them off his back every few days due to excess snot and do express wash/dry during the day . Sure the sleep suit he has in his box at nursery is only a size 68, and he's now wearing 80 comfortably and 86 rolled up a bit. Blush

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/10/2012 19:25

I'm waiting for the twilathon that's on here in November. I've seen three of the films (I think..!). Totally not my kind of movie at all, but I did enjoy them. My mum is having S overnight tomorrow so may borrow them from friend and watch with some yummy food Grin
That reminds me engels, I've still to do thank you cards Blush. Ill try get some photos from the party printed off and sent with a little note attached. Ment to say as well, M hair was looking much darker in that fb video you posted of him eating his cake! Has it changed? How is it going with the helmet?
ed as has been said, I really hope everything works out with you and H Smile
Had a lovely day catching up with friends. S had fun messing up someone else's house for a change Grin

but only until ILs helpfully remind us on sunday

strawberrypenguin · 18/10/2012 20:34

Wow at E proper walking sassy and Grin at all the sofa climbers

Glad S hasn't had any more reactions duck

Had a call from the Cranio-facial team today. Turns out W's op would have been put back anyway as one of the anaesthetists on the team has needed emergency surgery himself and they've had to do a lot of re-scheduling. We have two new dates! 15th November if they have an anaesthetist and 3rd December at the latest (as long a W is ok) if it has to slip again. I feel a bit better now we have dates to work to again.

sassy34264 · 18/10/2012 20:56

Oh, that's good strawberry I was thinking it will be after Xmas.

I haven't seen any twilight films, or harry potter, for that matter. Not really my type of films. Dp despairs of me as I hate blockbusters and like indie/arty obscure/foreign films. ( Or as he calls them-talking films)
If it says won an film festival on the cover, he groans cos he knows I'll want to watch it. [Grin]

Eva couch climbs too.she says hi daddy (along with the usual mummy, nanna etc) and can Hum the tune to twinkle twinkle. She is the sweetest child going - or so you think until you don't let her have her own way! Then the (surname of dp ) temper gene kicks in......

She wrestles with you for the spoon, through a strop if you go to give her her bottle but stop mid way to wipe her nose or move her to the rug etc. She throws herself backwards and proper screams. God help me in a years time when the tantrums really start. She makes Isobel look tame in comparison. [Grin]

Just wrapped presents, wrote card and blown up happy 1st birthday balloons. Dp working away tomorrow and has to leave 6am and won't be back till late, so we are going out for the day on sat and having small party sat night.

Climbingpenguin · 18/10/2012 21:30

strawberry that's great. Remember if you need anything while you are at the JR to let me know. Feel free to pm me for my phone no or email/skype.

DS climbs onto those plastic see-saws and then rocks himself back and forwards. He tried very hard to climb the sofa but his legs can't quite reach.

DS doesn't have that many words, like 2 or 3 I ignore the possibility of his TT/LT being the reason but has mama, nana and hi ya. What he does have is a very special noise for when he see's food that he doesn't have. He can't hum the tune but he has started doing the twinkle action with his hand and can put his hand over his mouth and make a kissing/pucker noise to copy us blowing kisses.

He's sleep of 11-6 hasn't been repeated, but he has until 1pm a few nights so I might try a dream feed earlier to see if that can convince him to do his longest stretch then. Although I will wait and see if a pattern actually develops first, plus finish sorting out after the move, getting well...

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/10/2012 22:43

Smile reading all these things our wonderful babies are doing Smile
S says mama dad! papa, hiya and tries to call the cats which is cute! She can do the twinkle twinkle actions and if you start to say 'round and round the garden..' she puts her finger on her other palm. She loves to point and waves bye bye. She is really starting to understand what I'm saying, like if I hand her her cup ill tell her to sit down on her bottom which she does. She enjoys carrying things around with her and moving things from one place to another Smile

Happy birthday for tomorrow little Eva!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 19/10/2012 00:03

Happy birthday to Eva (in the morning) sassy
As much as i love the twilight movies I don't take them seriously any more at all. I still really enjoy the books though.
duck I have tickets booked for the twiathlon at the cinema Grin pretty sure after 10+ hours of rob ill be drowning in drool and have a really sore arse
I also love Harry potter and LOTR can't wait for The Hobbit really fits in with my inability to live in the real world Wink

Engelsemama · 19/10/2012 07:57

I don't think it's darker duck he's just got more of it and it isn't hidden under a helmet Grin Head is fine. Have last hospital appt today. The flat bit isn't flat anymore, though you can still see the "bulge" on the other side where it compensated a bit. I don't think you would notice unless you were looking though.

I must admit ed the books still make me go slightly weak at the knees. Have you read her other book "The Host"? The films are awful sassy if you haven't read the books, but still jolly good wet afternoon fun

M also tantrums when I wipe his nose sassy Have a lovely day.

penguin I am only doing yhank you cards for my friends who sent presents from the UK and NZ. My family are being lazy practical and said they'll give Max his present when we see them weekend after next as Dsis's wedding. ILs were all here for party - DH insists that people don't need a thank you card if you've thanked them in person (If MIL pulls me up on it I will just play the stupid foreigner card again Grin )

Great news on op strawb Mst give you a bti mroe peace of mind to have some dates to focus on now.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 19/10/2012 08:57

Great about helmet Smile
I wasn't a fan of Harry potter or lotr. Infact, I went with an ex to see the first lotr and we both left half way through as we were both totally lost Blush
S was up at 6am, so so dark till about 8am! We snuggled in bed and watched Mickey Mouse on my iPhone. Me with a cup of tea and S with a cup of milk, lovely Grin

CheshireDing · 19/10/2012 10:15

Glad you all feel the same about sending them to nursery when not at work. It was too late to cancel and not be charged anyway so I figured she may as well go, get tired out (hopefully) and I can loads of stuff done. Feels odd though, like this time last year to be off in the winter and early morning dog walking alone, lovely but odd!

Ed I and P have had a cough and cold for what I am sure is about 5 weeks now, as soon as I thin it's going back it comes. I did take P to the walk in centre about 3-4 weeks ago but he said it just had to run it's course. Her throat is really rattly and she was full of snot this morning poor thing :(

Engels I think the cost of photos is so high these days because people wise up and get them scanned, which is just as good a quality but means the photographers are having to charge more I guess. I am not surprised M didn't want to sit still, he wanted to be off nosing around I bet Grin

P still sleeps in vest and baby grows and gro bag, does anyone else or have you all changed to proper pj's?

Strawberry good you have some fixed dates now, what's the recovery time tough? Am thinking of the December date and you and W enjoying Christmas :)

Sassy I think I have a diva on my hands too! That's why I keep telling DH he is looking after her when she can verbalise! God help us!! (and the poor cat), she was dragging him by his tail this morning and pulled his mouth and the poor guy still came back for more < demented moggie emoticon >

Can't comment on Harry Potter/Twilight/Lord of the Rings etc as have seen/read neither.

Penelope1980 · 19/10/2012 10:17

I've never really got into LOTR either, although DH is a massive massive fan. Being a NZer it seems somewhat disloyal to say that I was fairly indifferent to LOTR movies - especially as two of my cousins worked on the set and parts of it were filled where I live - but I am.

Ed the Hobbit was filmed where I live - the studios are on the other side of town - and the premier will be here as well. So we'll def go to that one.

However, I LOVE Harrry Potter Grin

It never occured to me to send thank you cards, although I did make a point of calling or emailing everyone that sent a card or present.

CheshireDing · 19/10/2012 10:50

Happy Birthday Baby Sassy too. Hope E has a lovely day :)

Climbingpenguin · 19/10/2012 12:13

we send thank you cards to DH's family who insist on sending stuff even though some of them I haven't met and others only met once. Since we don't call or email then we are forced to send thank you cards. In reality we want to just ask them to stop but this would cause issues.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 19/10/2012 14:42

cheshire I had gotten some proper pjs that she wore before, but she is back in Sleepsuits for over winter. I was putting socks on her when she was in pjs but they were always off by the morning and her feet were cold (that's in gro bag to) so figured sleepsuits would do just as well.

Part 1 of operation 'winter proofing' has been done. Got some thermal lining for S curtains in her room. Stitched them this morning so fingers crossed should keep her room warmer. I seem some beautiful fabric reduced so thinking of making my own for the living room... Have a friend who I can borrow a machine from. Want to get the living room painted before Christmas so will give me a good excuse for trying it out. Can't be that hard can it..?!

What's everyone's plans for the weekend? Smile

OP posts:
Engelsemama · 19/10/2012 16:55

Cheshire M has pretty much worn pyjamas since he was born. he's had the occasional sleepsuit that we were given when he was really little and at nursery at the moment he has a sleepsuit with no feet (but not for long Grin ). He is still in a sleeping bag. Have a great one from Ikea that was a present and he's always toasty in the morning, even with no socks.

Last weekend of half term here for me Duck. Have people round on Sunday for more birthday cake so will have to spruce up downstairs tomorrow, but other than that I will be relaxing and enjoying not thinking about school.

pen I love Harry Potter as well. A friend of mine went to the new theme park in Florida. It looked amazing apart from the fact it's in Florida whihc doesn't really appeal to me. Wondering about tryign to go on the studio tour in the UK some time sure I could find someone just as insane to come with me.

Have just signed up for NaNoWriMo 2012 - writing a novel in one month Shock so am going to have to get my shit together if I have any chance of finishing. Am guessing that I will go and write evenings once M is in bed for a few hours, or maybe during his nap time on the days I'm home. Hoping this will be the kick up the arse I need.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 19/10/2012 20:39

We're really skint this weekend so be staying in or going to the park, or anything else I can think of that's free Smile
