LO is off the phototherapy :) he's also graduated out of the incubator and into a cot this morning. I was changing his nappy and just as I took the dirty one off he projectile-pooed over the wall of the incubator and the nurse said he could move into a cot. I swear he grinned as he did it Grin was obviously ready for a proper bed! Got to put him in clothes for the first time too- the tiny baby stuff is really looSe on him but he's got big feet which almOst fill the feet in the suit already and really long legs and arms!

Midgetm · 29/10/2012 15:31

Honey that's great news. Mist be all that super charges boob business doing the trick. Master midge kicking off, best go. He is on constant feed today.....

Beeblebear · 29/10/2012 16:09

Olives

Same here. Planned on day sleeping in Moses basket.but have ends up Co sleeping. Maybe my fault do me and my family wanting lots of snuggles in the first few days. Have been putting him in the basket when awake and needing a few min break to use the washwroom or wash hands and never leave him more than a couple minutes. Then last e days has been put down. For his long morning nap when he is really really asleep. A nights ago managed first 3 hours in there before bringing him into bed. Then last night was 4 hours around then another 1.5 hours before bringing him into bed for the reset of the night. hopefully things continue to improve.

Just on for a little whinge. Today is not shaping up as hoped because...

a) It is my weekly 'engorgement day' - usually happens from Sat ON into Sunday, gone by Sun afternoon. Hit today instead.

b) Have blocked ducts in right boob and they hurt like fuck and won't clear so far, in spite of hot shower, massage (ouch) and feeding / expressing.

c) Baby was really sick this morning including into my bra. Yes, that's right, in my bra. Not on my bra, not above my bra, in my bra Hmm

d) Baby is only lightly napping because of wind so no break.

e) Ewan the lifesaving sheep is beeping because batteries have gone and I can't find the bloody screwdriver to take stupid batteries out.

f) It's raining and I wanted to go for a walk before it gets dark.

g) DH won't be home till 8 tonight... it is proving to be a long day...

Will try and return in sympathetic and positive frame of mind as long as right boob hasn't actually fallen off

Angelico · 29/10/2012 16:24

Oh FFS she's now squawking again after a refreshing 10 min nap... Hmm

Smorgs · 29/10/2012 16:38

honey that's great news, he's clearly just keeping the nurses on their toes Grin

I think I'm another one without the rush of love reaction. He's very cute and I know I care for him deeply but it's hard to 'love' someone you don't really know. I'm not too worried about it though as many many people tell me it's natural. I do however have this weird nervous sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Not sure if its homesickness, overwhelmed at how life is going to change or just that I'm very very scared of how tough it's going to get. I go to some pretty dark places in my mind during the night thinking about how life is changing, people are born but also that means others will eventually die and what happens if I end up alone. Like I say, fairly dark and irrational thoughts?!

Anyway, on a lighter note and in the spirit of trying to maintain a sense of humour Hmm... Umm, I think I've birthed a werewolf?! He has quite a lot of dark hair on the back of his ears and, umm, red eyes. Not the iris, just the eyelid, but still. Slightly scared what might happen on Halloween. When is the next full moon anyway?

Smorgs · 29/10/2012 16:42

angelico your post made me laugh, sorry not the reaction you wanted possibly. But seriously, IN your bra? That's a good aim. At least it didn't end up on the sofa I spose? Hope things get better and your dh gets home to lend a hand soon xx

HoneyMum21 · 29/10/2012 17:45

Oh angelico sounds like a rough day but sorry, the aim of the sick has made me giggle. Maybe LO thought baby sick might help with the blocked ducts... Maybe... Hope you manage to get a break for more than 10 mins soon.

bella2012 · 29/10/2012 19:39

hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello and to announce that I am so excited to be part of your gang as my little boy William was born yesterday morning! So happy and excited but prepared for killer nips, tiredness and toddler taiming to bring me back down to earth soon! Enjoying it all while it lasts and looking forward to sharing support on here again.

Loads of love to you all xxx

firstbubba · 29/10/2012 21:37

Congratulations bella welcome to the madness of motherhood

LoopyLa · 29/10/2012 21:50

Olivess we also have the same issue & could have written your post. Baby Loopy spends half his time in the carrycot & the other half in our arms/with us in bed Shock I've tried to make carrycot cosier, we always put a hot water bottle in first to warm the bed before he goes in, he hates swaddling but just keeps waking himself up & wants attention. He's so tiny & lovable, it's impossible for us to resist but realise this is not a long term solution! Hmm

I've been trying to express regularly & although my breastmilk hasn't dried up completely, it's definitely reduced. But if its still there, it's better than nothing. Not sure whether to keep the expressed stuff & give Baby Loopy a little of it, supplemented by formula or what else I can do with it. It's only 50ml daily at the moment, doesn't seem worth doing anything with? Hmm

LoopyLa · 29/10/2012 21:50

Congrats bella

hufflepuffle · 29/10/2012 21:57

Hey Bella!! Congratulations and welcome to baby William!!! Enjoy! Xx

Midgetm · 29/10/2012 22:16

loopy doesn't matter if not much - give it to the baby, it will still be really good for them - antibodies and all that malarkey.

Angelico · 29/10/2012 23:05

Congrats Bella Thanks

Sorry, had wanted to return all upbeat but today was a shite day. Taking bean to GP tomorrow as midwife thinks she might have reflux, hoping not. She was a mentalist today, basically screamed and threw up all day Confused and DH was really late home and my ducts are still blocked even though boob is soft. Found myself weeping earlier and longing for my old life.

It was a long motherf**king day... here's hoping for a quieter night.

Smorgs · 30/10/2012 02:33

Oh angelico I'm sorry you're feeling crap, that does indeed sound like a shit day. Xxxx

bella2012 · 30/10/2012 03:10

angelico that sounds like a hell of a day you poor thing. Hopefully the GP will help you to treat the reflux, if that is what it is. Sorry to hear you so down, you are usually so good at being positive all the time. Reflux is a total bitch so I can well imagine how fed up you must be, hugs to you!

Well, me and Will clearly aren't sleeping tonight. He is just feeding and feeding and feeding and I fear my boobs may falll off. Infact I wish they would and then DH could feed him for me, ha! I ended up having to PHONE DH tonight who is sleeping in our bedroom (I am in the spare room) to tell him to go and comfort DS1 who was crying for me after a nightmare. Poor little love, he has been so amazingly brave but is obviously finding everything very weird now with a new little brother here dominating everything.

Did anyone else suddenly see their DC1 as looking HUGE once they had a newborn? He is just 3 and seemed so little on Saturday-but now he looks like a grown up boy! I just don't know how to be both DS1's Mum, who pretends to be Buzz Lightyear etc most of the time doing all kinds of imaginative stuff with him, and Will's Mum, the milk machine and trying to figure out what he wants and needs. Tomorrow is going to be crazy-we have so many visitors coming...i feel exhausted at the thought of it!

Looking forward to a proper catch up tomorrow if i can manage it!

Much love to you all xx

WantAnOrange · 30/10/2012 08:25

Angelico can I join you in feeling miserable. DD is not the problem however, 6 year old DS is still being a nightmare. I lost my temper this morning and shouted at him, really shouted.

DD is still Velcro Baby and DS has just woken her up! FFS!

YompingJo · 30/10/2012 09:09

I have caught up! .

That is because I have been awake most of the night feeding a baby who has a cavernous pit instead of a stomach

Just wanted to add tuppence worth about a couple of things.

Washing boobs - I have read not to. The breastmilk keeps the nipples clean so no need for anything else on them except water (and Lansinoh)

Sleeping - best thing has been white noise. Zonks her out (when she us already tired) pretty quickly.

crazypaving · 30/10/2012 09:45

bella hooray and congrats, and totally with you on huge DS1 syndrome. His hands used to look so tiny, now they look positively adult! And when did he get so tall??

angelico sorry you've had such a shit day. Hope it's just a very short phase.

Those with older naughty DC, how do you get baby to nap in the day with all the racket? babypaving's been awake since 7am, knackered and can't kip cos DS1 is so loud!! Help!

crazypaving · 30/10/2012 10:52

Nobody breathe! Both children are asleep in their respective bed-type-things!!!! This cannot last!

hufflepuffle · 30/10/2012 11:03

So I too bought a Ewan the sheep! Not quite sure how and when tho.....

And cute snuffles have turned to traumatic snuffles. Mucous build up not good. 15 min feeds only and my miraculous 2X 4 hr night kips turned into 3x under 2 hr. frustrated baby, tired mummy. Hav bowls of water on all radiators and DH been to chemist for saline nasal drops and aspirator as MW is coming this morning and hoping after late night googling that these will help!!!!

Hello and love to all. Massive respect to anyone with a toddler....... How the hell do you do it????!!!!

crazypaving · 30/10/2012 11:11

huffle another house full of green snot - both boys are streaming and snuffling and gross. Arrrggghhhh massive sympathy from me.

Midgetm · 30/10/2012 11:42

bella I am with you there. DD looks like Gulliver all of a sudden.

Huffle and crazy Dd also has a stinking cold. Colds should not be allowed in half term. Always shouting at her not to touch the baby or cough in him. So far he doesn't have it but only a matter of time.

master midge nearly back to his birth weight so more regular weigh ins and threats for making me give him formula but still has a bit of jaundice so referred back to the peads. Poor boy just wants to be left alone or is that just me?

Midgetm · 30/10/2012 11:44

That should be so no more regular weigh ins....
