Oh don't worry about dd not walking Logic, be glad of the (relative) peace Smile All babies develop at their own pace, DS1 was completely mobile at 9 months, DS2 is taking much longer. Take no notice of other peoples ignorant comments, although it's easier said than done I know. Just tell them it's one of the things that make her unique Smile

SHHHH · 07/06/2006 08:20

logic..don't worry dd xan't walk either Sad. She seemed to be doing everything else on time dh and i were sure she'd walk btt she was 1....she cruises along the settee and walks with her trolly/car but not along. Won't even hold my hand for support Sad.
Oh well..she keeps crawling on her hands and her feet not her knees so who knows..? She may just stand up and walk one day..?!! Prob when she is 18 months like you said logic...Looks like we have the "take my time" walkers Grin...

Tiggerish · 07/06/2006 17:07

Our dd isn't walking yet either. Does a great bum shuffle though - like lightning!

Finally (with fingers firmly crossed!) we seem to have cracked the 3 or 4 am waking pattern. Up until now she has always slept in a grobag. Well, a few nights ago I began to think that maybe she was getting a bit tangled up in it in her sleep. So I switched her to a duvet and she has been fine Grin Hope it continues!!

logic · 07/06/2006 17:22

Thanks girls. :-)

yummimummy · 07/06/2006 21:21

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a while but I'm back home Grin in the UK for 3 weeks.
It's really nice to be back but has been hectic - DH travelled apallingly but did settle into a good routine once we were here.
(do you know how many peanuts get dropped on the floor of a Singapore Airlines 747?? And how many of those were picked up by little inquisitive fingers?)
Anyway - Shhhh - fantastic news. I hope you're feeling well.
Thanks guys who gave me their evening routines a few days ago.
Smile

yummimummy · 07/06/2006 21:23

Sorry, I meant DD travelled apallingly.
Not sure what routine DH is in but it probably involves the pub!

SHHHH · 08/06/2006 14:22

I also had visions of you dh scrounging along the floor for peanuts ym Grin..!!!!

Glad you are home ok...at last it's nice to be back in your own bed etc!!!
Thanks for the congratulations as well, hope the plans go well for you iykwim Wink Wink [along with side nodding of shhh's head icon..]

Great news tiggerish..hope the long nights continue. It's amazing how some little change can make such a HUGE difference..!!! Little rascals.!!

Welcome home YM..even though it is only for 3 weeks Smile Glad DD has settled well after such a long flight. Can imagine the scenarios with the peanuts - last night we went to friends for a bbq and DS2 tried to eat the GRAVEL Shock Well I suppose he'll try anything once Grin

Well DS2 has an appointment with the paed on Wed for his size (which I think is fine and really always has been) then is due to have his MMR on Thurs but he has had a cold (which he has given to me) for the last week and seems to be getting rid of it now so not sure wether to delay it for a while.

logic · 11/06/2006 09:33

We've decided to wait until dd is 2 before she has the MMR because of the reaction that ds had. We want to make sure her immune system is a bit stronger before we risk it. Any later than that though and she'll be going to pre-shool. She has to have it before then...

logic · 12/06/2006 17:12

Dd took her first step today in the garden Grin Grin I've been walking her up and down the garden today and then she finally took a step and fell over. Well it's a start! :-))

yummimummy · 12/06/2006 17:37

Maddison thanks a lot. Smile
It's really nice being back and we've been sooooo lucky with the weather - today is the first time we've seen rain!
DD is being totally spoilt. To the point that I'm going to feel really guilty taking her away from all the attention and will have to give her a bit extra myself when we leave.
Logic - Grin
Congrats on the walking. Fab news. Shoes now????
I bought some Clarks shoes whilst here and they are really nice and easy for DD to walk in ( the slightly soft soles rather than the really hard soles)

logic · 12/06/2006 17:49

Cheers, yes I'll have to buy her some shoes now. I did get her some cruisers a couple of months ago but she wouldn't wear them!

Isn't it so lovely now that they are developing their own personalities? Dd keeps crawling to the bath and trying to get her top off and climb in. She loves baths. If she wants me to take her somewhere, she tugs at my clothes and points. It's so sweet. They have opinions!

northstar · 12/06/2006 21:18

Congratulations SHHH! I remember the day that you joined the original Due in May thread - with all our worries and hopes ahead of us. you will be fine, your body knows what to do now!
A note for all mothers of non-mobile babies ....make the most of every day that you have before they start. They are so precious. I actually brought dd to hv because she was walking so early it was ridiculously scary and I was and am so worried about her. Believe it or not dd goes "out to play" already. She goes out onto the green and runs around with the other kids. She climbs up the big slide on her own and slides down with the big boys AND plays football. She is a kamikaze child.

Maddison · 12/06/2006 21:26

We also bought DS2 some cruisers (size 5 Shock) but he WILL NOT keep them on!! tbh I'm sort of glad it has rained a bit today - yesterday was sooo muggy and DS2 was chewed to bits!

It's true what you say Logic - they have their own mind now and usually know exactly what they want, as DS2 is demonstrating now - he went to bed at approx 7.30 and slept for 45 minutes then woke up and had a HUUUGE tantrum, kicking his legs and everything - am so Shock - we've never seen it before from him and DH brought him back downstairs against my wishes and he is now sitting in his highchair eating a biscuit. So I told DH that he can deal with him.

Congrats on the walking btw Logic Smile It's so cute when DS2 walks up to me, his hands are in the air waving about as he walks as if he's saying 'hellllloooooo' Grin He loves baths too, and is never too happy to get out! We got DS1's paddling pool out the other day to try and keep him cool, he was in his element! As was DS1 when he got home from school!

Maddison · 12/06/2006 21:29

Sorry Northstar, you must have posted as I typed!

Wow sounds like your dd is coming on in leaps and bounds! My niece is 14 months now and she sounds like your dd - cries to go out with the big girls Smile But am totally Shock that she can climb up the steps to the big slide!!! When did she start walking??

logic · 12/06/2006 22:05

My ds used to climb up the stairs at a ridiculously early age too - some babies are born climbers!

Dd has screamed all day. It's really hacked me off tbh. I'm going to feel really bad if she's ill tomorrow. Blush

shhhh · 13/06/2006 11:36

welldone logic..!!!! still no walking from shhh's household..Oh well. She walks around the couch etc but not with me..suppose it can't be long off now..

Can't believe about northstars dd going out to lay LOL..!! Hoe cute, suppose we all have signs that our lo's are growing into bo's..!!!
Thanks northstar, yes it does seem a lifetime away when I joined the due in may thread...I was scared then and still feel the same now.But like you said I hope my body is "old hat" at it now..!! tee hee..! Won't join the due in...thread yet though as I still worry about the obvious..sadly..

Maddison dd has gone the same (she has been ill with a throat infection since friday) with waking and crying. At the moment it tends to be hit and miss if she will go down to sleep. BUT the last few days dye to her being ill we have gone with her and taken her downstairs for a while. We hate it but it seems to work. Suppose this is "her telling us what SHE wants to do"..LOL..!

ym FORGOT TO SAY, I read your original post rong and though you were back in aussie...sorry..Blush bet you thought..own bed..?? Sorry. Must remember to read properly 1st..!! Hope you have having a good time in the uk.

Logic hope dd is ok soon, like I said above to maddison, dd has been ill for a few days and has been crying at everything and anything. DH was at the match on saturday so I had her all day..all day she cried..how I didn't throw her out of the window Shock. So much for an expectant mummy rest..! Hope it doens't last for either of us..!!!

northstar · 13/06/2006 21:16

dd started standing at 6mths, walked pushing ds's plastic chair in front of her at 7mths and was running the day after she turned 10mths. Ds didnt walk till 16.5mths though.
Dd climbs constantly, she climbs me, to the back of the couch, onto the window sill, up the stairs, up the big slide, up the steep sharp concrete steps in the back garden, anything atall.
If she falls or hurts herself she cries because something has got the better of her, rather than because of the pain or fright iykwim?
I would swap her for a non-mobile baby any day!
I amSmile to be back on line and reading about all our little ones

Tinker · 14/06/2006 13:21

Love the idea of your baby "playing out" northstar, she sounds so cute. I remember when you were worrying about her falling from her pushchair - all seems so long ago now.

Another non-walker here. Has been cruising for months but doesn't seem to have occurred to her that she can go...

shhhh · 14/06/2006 16:14

tinker, loo like it's just our 2 left..! He that makes our's v special..!!! Not doing the norm Wink. Well we have to have something to cheer us up..!!!

DD also is a climber, can get up stairs no problem, climbs over dh & I to get to anything and walks loads holding onto stuff inc her walker/shopping trolly but will she walk alone..will she heck..!!!

Oh well..!! Thing is i'm getting tired to carry her about and she is getting quite heavey which worries me being pregnant..hey ho..!! Suppose once she is walking I won't stop which will prob be worse..!!!

Nice to have you back northstar. xx

OP posts:
northstar · 15/06/2006 00:45

thanx shhh.
Hey tinker do you know i was only thinking about that the other day! And now she climbs in and out of that same pushchair by herself - hauls herself over the bar and heaves herself into position then does up the harness.
Does anyone fancy a meet up with our toddlers after the summer?

LittleB · 15/06/2006 19:57

Great to have you back Northstar. Sounds like your dd is doing really well. My dd is due to have her MMR tomorrow, but we may need to delay it as she isn't very well, she's had a fever for a few days and although this has gone she's still got a bad cough and not much appetite and is very unsettled at night. Spoke to HV today who said see how she is tomorrow. I think we'll put it off though, might be a bit much for her while she's ill.

Maddison · 15/06/2006 21:45

DS2 was supposed to have his MMR today but since he had a cold last week (which he kindly passed on to me!) I cancelled the appointment, even though he appears to be ok now, I'd rather wait a few weeks to make sure he is fighting fit.

We did see the paediatrician yesterday about his size/weight, he put on a wonderful performance for her!! And the good news is that we don't have to see her again!

He only had one nap today for 45 mins instead of his usual 2hr morning nap and 1hr afternoon nap. I think it's gonna be a loooong night!! I usually find that if he sleeps well during the day he sleeps well at night too - is this the case for anyone else??

northstar · 15/06/2006 22:03

Ah poor littleb's lo, it's so horrible when they have a cold they cant even clear their throats or sniff or blow their noses. Before I had kids I swore i would NEVER let my child have a snotty nose - but it's just not fair to keep wiping and picking at them is itSad

LittleB · 18/06/2006 20:56

I know what you mean about snotty noses Northstar, you wipe them as best you can, but can't get them clear without really rubbing at them and they hate it. dd didn't have her MMR, she'll get another appointment in a few weeks. And she's feeling alot better now, luckily. Hope everyone else is ok.
