DS is 18 wks now and have definate receding areas on my temples which I think are v obvious so no you're not!!!

milward · 11/03/2006 22:37

Nope - my ds4 is 5 months & it's only recently that I'm losing loads of hair!

red37 · 11/03/2006 22:40

When I tie it back in a bobble, my hairline is receding. Ds is nearly 5 months old.

Ds nearly 5 months, my hair is coming out in hadnfulls Shock This happenned with ds1 but not ds2.

RedTartanLass · 11/03/2006 22:53

ds is meant to be DD.

Right going to bed!!!

Elf1981 · 11/03/2006 23:19

My hair is falling out in droves. Luckily I started off with very thick hair but I am starting to notice a small receed at the hair line when I put my hair up. (DD is 21 weeks old now).
I've started to get really fine baby hair growing there now, not sure what looks worse!!

Twinkie1 · 12/03/2006 00:43

Is completely normal.

The trick is to use your hairdryer and straighteners and really go at the baby hair so it at least isn't all fluffy!!

I had this with both DD (nearly 6) and DS (15 months!!) and I would say hair is only now just back to normal!!

queenrollo · 12/03/2006 09:19

my ds was about 5 months old when mine started to fall out too.......i'd been enjoying having lovely thick hair and now it's all limp again and i have the fine baby hair too. i've spent the last three years growing out a radical fringe and now i'm getting one again with the new growth.

emily05 · 12/03/2006 09:20

This happened when I had ds, he now 3 and my hair is fine, try not to worry x

jollymum · 12/03/2006 09:59

Hi, hijacking a bit --my niece has alopaecia(sp?) and I wondered if any MN's have advice/experience/ideas?

RedTartanLass · 12/03/2006 12:22

Jollymum, no advice for you, but you'll probably get a good response if you start a thread with alopaecia(sp?) in the title.

motherinferior · 12/03/2006 12:24

Check with the doc, but it's probably entirely normal. I lost so much hair after having DD1 that the place was perpetually clogged with the stuff, and DP enquired if we'd secretly acquired a red setter.

My only tip for any further babies is to have your hair cut just before giving birth. I did before DD2 (makes me sound frightfully organised, it was all a bit of a coincidence) and it seemed to help a bit.

mandymac · 12/03/2006 12:27

My hair fell out a lot from 3 months to about 5 months after I had dd and I noticed it got abit thin at the temples. It did stop and it is growning back, unfortunately not as lovely as when I was PG. I too have a very fetching 'fringe' of new hair at the moment (8 months post birth). Try not to worry - easier said than done I know!

mandymac · 12/03/2006 12:27

growing Blush

Jackstini · 12/03/2006 12:31

Perfectly normal - all people usually lose 100 hairs a day on average but whilst you are pregnant this stops happening or slows down. When is starts to happen again after birth it just seems like a lot more is coming out - don't worry Smile

loubaby · 11/04/2006 14:12

I've now got a mini fringe and receding temples! My ds is almost 7 months now and hairs still coming out in handfuls. Wonder if it's to do with having boys, all those male hormones to be got rid of?

babyonboard · 11/04/2006 15:31

gosh..i am really finding this too..
i'm forevr pulling hairs out of ds's fingers/ cot/ carseat
shame as my hair was great by the end of my pregnancy..really thick and great condition as i hadn't dyed it for so long..
though i don't get to wash it as often/thoroughly these days as he seems to instinctively know when i'm in the shower and wakes up even from deep peaceful sleep..lol
i thought maybe thats why

coppertop · 11/04/2006 15:36

I lost loads of hair after having ds1 & ds2. I'm secretly hoping I lose more soon (dd is 3wks) old as my hair is now so thick and bushy I resemble a mushroom. Blush

TicTacsMum · 11/04/2006 15:40

Me too - coming out in handfuls - dd is 18 weeks.

babyjojo · 11/04/2006 15:57

I am soooo glad I read this, was starting to think there was something wrong with me, the stuff is falling out in handfulls!! when will it stop??? DS is 18 weeks.

jmum6 · 11/04/2006 15:59

Ds is 7months and it's still falling out. Cpouldn't possibly wear it back as I've no hair on my temples!! Have fine down there now instead. Very fetching!

loubaby · 11/04/2006 16:11

I'm glad i saw this too. Am new to MN but finding it all very helpful and reassuring. Why did i not do this sooner? :)
