Figgygal · 25/08/2012 05:00

Why am I still awake? Not impressed

aethelfleda · 25/08/2012 07:57

Morning! (starts coffee pump)

Note to the thread: for an interesting nappy experience feed your baby an eccles cake (those little scone-like ones stuffed with raisins). Guaranteed for four nappies a day of pure ewwww... (he did love eating it though!)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 25/08/2012 08:09

Kitty Seems weird being called Mrs and calling DP now DH! Grin

We brought stair gates yesterday in Tesco using the double up scheme with clubcard vouchers. Also brought my sisters steriliser and bottles using the vouchers too. For all that all we paid was £1.49 Smile

Not planning a lot today. More so as weather is pants. Sad

mopsytop · 25/08/2012 08:14

Oooooh LMF!!!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 25/08/2012 08:31

LMF Tell us more Grin Wink

BeeMyBaby · 25/08/2012 08:43

BJR yes 9 months is when the eye colour is meant to settle down, but i think green and hazel eyes might take a little longer to develop.

Just using condoms here too as not so keen on extra hormones plus want more children in the not so far off future so don't want to mess with my very irregular cycle.

NorthernChinchilla · 25/08/2012 08:49

Ooooh, LMF, you smoooooothy Wink!

DS is in puppy mode, whizzing round as I try to do jobs, chase him, and do the "no, don't eat the contents of the green recycling bin/pull yourself using that mug of hot coffee/open the dishwasher and play with the knives!" which I understand will be my life for the next 20 few years....

We'll have to rename you 'Mrs' DSM, so you get used to it! In fact we could have called you OiMrs but someone's nabbed that already Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 25/08/2012 08:51

Oh, that's interesting to know Bee, I didn't actually know but for some reason thought it was later.

My child now officially looks bugger all like me- big, blond and blue-eyed!

seven77 · 25/08/2012 09:11

Sounds exciting LMF!

DSM I did wonder if it was the first time you'd used DH. How were the wedding pics? Can't wait to see some.

No contraception here, timing wise we're ok to start trying again, though still no period after miscarriage which was over 6 weeks ago. DH will be having the snip after the next one, I'm not a fan of anything hormonal tbh and DH hates condoms, for us it's probably the best solution.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 25/08/2012 09:44

Seven First time of using DH at it was strange lol!

I can't have hormonal contraception doesn't agree with my body. So after DC3 I'm getting sterilised.

DH is loading the pics onto laptop at the moment so will add some to my profile here and on FB! You can all see I can scrub up well for one day lol.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/08/2012 10:22

I'm off to the vets to be spayed next year:o I don't seem to get own with hormonal stuff:(

OP posts:
MissRee · 25/08/2012 11:06

Hormonal stuff doesn't appear to agree with me either but I don't want to consider any type of permanent contraception just yet! I hate condoms (as does DP, obviously) and I don't want to risk the coil as I already have enough scarring/adhesions/endometriosis and god knows what else

I meant to tell you Aethel, when I mentioned the contraceptive patch to my GP she looked at me as if I had just asked her about eating dog poo. Then dismissed it as not being as good as the implant I already have and which clearly isn't bloody agreeing with me

Figgygal · 25/08/2012 12:52

Thanks for the tip Kate on the bounty flash sale unfortunately the moova was sold out by the time I have registered so now I am no doubt in for months and months of unwanted spam emails must cancel my membership ASAP. HOWEVER today I got new vouchers in from the boots mother and baby club and they have one for £25 off car seat if you spend over hundred pounds so I have managed to get it from there for £85 plus lots of lovely advantage card points. Also managed to buy 100 nappies for £14 from Asda and somehow managed to spend about 70 quid in all I'm pretty sure only one jumper was for me Confused

DS was in the trolley in his car seat as he was asleep when we first got there and then he was in his pushchair about an hour with no screaming I think we have turned the corner and the pushchair refuser has now admitted defeat as that is three weekends in a row we have had no dramas.

hope you're having nice days since DH is off on a sea bird watch until evening I'm going to spend the rest of the day watching old episodes of crap American TV shows that he disapproves of.

hawthers · 25/08/2012 16:53

Just spent a blissful peaceful 3 hours at the hairdressers getting a new do. Come out with a rather breezy neck...

seven77 · 25/08/2012 17:25

hawthers 3 hours of peace at the hairdressers sounds amazing, can you put a pic on the Facebook group pleeease?

Glad you've finally won the pushchair battle figgy.

I just don't like the idea of filling my body full of hormones, being on the pill between DS and DD completely killed my sex drive Blush and I definitely get less mood swings when AF is due. I was happy to get sterilised but DH volunteered and said its easier for him to get snipped, so I'm not complaining :o

AWomanCalledHorse · 25/08/2012 20:37

I've never used contraception (just the ol' withdrawal method), I find the idea of hormones based contraception odd (for me, not judging other!).
I will be (hopefully, hypocritically) getting a hysterectomy asap after final DC (whenever that maybe), my AF is a nightmare & my PMT is worse...I've been asking for one since I turned 16 so hopefully I'll get DC out the way & they'll finally let me have one!

DS has green eyes atm....and he now shakes his head for 'no' when he doesn't want something!

hawthers, be honest it was a 20min hair cut & 2hr 40min of them wondering if they should wake you up after dozing off in the chair Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 25/08/2012 21:14

Wow hawthers, just went on your pics here (as not on FB) to see if you'd posted any pics of the do, and your DS is really starting to look like a little boy! He sort of looks like a small five year old or something- I thought my DS was starting to look grown up, but F is lovely and dead smiley unlike DS.

Don't know if anyone else is geeky enough to have read Barry Ween, but DS totally puts me in mind of him as a baby...he tends to glare at people as if they don't quite measure up... Confused

Stairgates bought, and I may have bought DS two pairs of dungarees and a really cool onesie- he genuinely does need it it as he really needs to get into his next size up, but I did enjoy getting him some stuff and I want him to be all smart for nursery! Worryingly, the 9-12 month stuff at Lewis' said 9.9k/21lbs, and I really hope that's the general size (they could've been a bit more bloody specific) as DS is already a fair bit over that!

Glad to hear the wee man has finally given in over the pushchair figgy, that must make life a hell of a lot more pleasant!

mopsytop · 25/08/2012 21:37

Nice one re pushchair figgy!

Minim had a 2 hour meltdown today. Screeched her head off non-stop for over 2 hours. Think it's because of a snotty cold she has, she just worked herself up into a proper state. Stressful. Bed now cos it really exhausted me. Hope all your babas are asleep and you ate having lOvely relaxing evenings with tea and/or wine and chocolate foodstuffs...

Kitty5824 · 25/08/2012 22:32

Just got back from Tesco, DH left a supposedly sleeping baby on the sofa (!) to help me unload the car...when I walked past the living room door DS was just lying there staring at me. He did not roll off onto the floor, but DH has been given a stern talking to anyway.

He then had a screaming fit whilst waiting for his bottle to cool (DS not DH) and has given himself a nosebleed. Caused by the screaming or the 37 or so face plants he has managed today???????

I will not google infant nosebleeds, I will not google infant nosebleeds, I will not.....OK I did and am actually reassured. How often does that happen?!

Oh well, I'm off to bed, leaving DH with a hyper 8 month old who is trying to pet the cat. The cat looks terrified.....

hawthers · 26/08/2012 04:44

Pic of hair on profile for a limited time as I look a bit like a tit with an enormous hand!

aethelfleda · 26/08/2012 09:35

Nice hair hawthers, very smart!

Hope baby's nosebleed settled kitty,

well, now have a "tastefully decorated and neutral" bedroom.
Plan for today is to declutter the living room and clean the bathroom. Oh the glamour. (next week have to ask 3 agents to value the house, bleurgh, house must be clean and tidy for this wheeze to work)

Am sulking re diet currently, it's not playing ball after a good start, thinking of having a week off from the calorie counting and doing my usual portiOn control gig instead.

Figgygal · 26/08/2012 09:39

What is it with men eh dh just handed DS to me as he "smelt something bad" I had a look and it was a suit destroying up to his arm pits ungodly smelling and coloured poomageddon!! How could he have missed it Angry DS went straight in the shower it was that bad!!

NorthernChinchilla · 26/08/2012 10:11

Oh I like the hair hawthers, and you can tell it's a good cut.

We had fun last night: DS has always, always been a 45-minutes-set-your-watch-by-him napper, since he was about 10 weeks. Very, very occasionally he'll do a 1.5 hour one, about once every two months. Yesterday, he decided he'd have one- but for his last nap, which he'd never done before, and when we were trying to leave Bluewater.
Funnily enough this did not do anything good for his nighttime sleep, though a 1.30 wake, 5.30 wake and then passing out again at 7 for two hours could've been worse Confused

Today, and tomorrow, I cook. I'm going to do up meals for the freezer for DS, a roast for us today so I can make pie for us all tomorrow (family visiting) and brownies.

How's it going post-poomageddon figgy?

Figgygal · 26/08/2012 10:27

northern we are surviving DS had a sleep to recover the suit was literally thrown out the window bleurgh!!

The sun is out must get outside

CherryBlossom27 · 26/08/2012 10:33

Ahh thank you Northern I know I'm biased but I think it's a lovely mix and I love DS's eyes and cute nose :)

That's good news on the pushchair front Figgy but bad on the Poomagedden! It's so gross when it explodes up their backs! Men never do seem to notice the smell when a nappy needs changing....how convenient!

Hope LO is ok Kitty, that must have been quite shocking!
