Ah I quite fancy being a librarian too LMF i'd certainly trade my job and spend the day surrounded by books!

HoneyLovesCake · 15/08/2012 06:20

Oh great 430-6 is a thing now? And here I was thinking he was just doing something weird for a couple of days Sad I am not a morning person Sad

Congrats kate full time mumming has to be the most exhausting/rewarding job in the world Grin

We do seem to be having one of those periods again, don't we? I feel like pants this morning, woke with a cracking headache like I'd been drinking brandy all night, and unless Diet Vimto's got some new ingredients...

And would you believe it, I've booked off this afternoon to have with my boys, just a nice wander round town as a family, and it's the one time it's going to rain non-stop!

And yes HLC, I'd say it's a thing, babies seem to be early wakers or not, and nothing will shift the little blighters. DS wakes at 6 every day... but it's better than the 5.30 period he went through.

CherryBlossom27 · 15/08/2012 08:07

Morning all,

DS woke us up at 5.30am this morning, he wasn't crying just making sounds so I left him to it until 7.00am. He's upping the solids and had a whole weetabix instead of half this morning for breakfast, plus half a Hipp fruit purée pouch (I joined something on their website and got sent free samples :)). I think we are more or less ready to drop down to 3 bottles a day now:

7am-8am 210ml bottle & cereal + fruit
11am-12pm 210ml bottle & sandwich + fruit
3pm 120ml bottle
5pm dinner
7pm 210ml bottle

I'm cutting down the amount offered at 3pm as he's just not interested at all. Once this bottle has been cut out, I will cut down the lunchtime bottle next. It feels wierd that DS isn't finishing his bottles, I'm so used to him guzzling them down in 10 minutes flat!

Congrats Kate!

mopsytop · 15/08/2012 08:08

Thanks all. The past 2 days have been a bit nightmarish-getting the anti-biotic and the calpol in has been a major struggle, never mind trying to get her to drink enough to stat hydrated as she doesn't want to swallow. She had about 7oz all day yesterday and it was hard work. But enough to keep her hydrated at least. She was up most of the night again so we are like zombies after barely any sleep for 3 nights now. But on the plus side she took her calpol and 5oz just now yay! She must be on the mend. How long until they're no longer infectious? Wondering if she cd go to nursery tomorrow. The nurse at the hospital seemed to think not.

seven, sorry you're ill :(

Hope all other poorly babies improve..,

DSM, nearly there!!!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/08/2012 08:18

Think we need the hazard suits out again!

3 sleeps.....Grin

Sky woke at 7:45 and had her bottle. She'll have breakfast at 9. Day spent indoors today.

Kitty5824 · 15/08/2012 08:41

Grin DSM

Well done Kate. Once SMP runs out (which must be next month?) I too will be resigning. I currently work for a rather large banking institution beginning with B, ending in Y and rhyming with Shiteleys. They don;t even know I have moved. I could probably transfer, but would have to work in branch which doesn't appeal.

So Tesco/Sainsbury's/Asda/Co-op/Aldi/Lidl for me once all the yooves go back to college/uni in September. Must sort out CV.

Had been lulled into a lovely routine by DS, in bed by 8, bottle at 11.30 (DH) bottle at 6 (me), back to sleep for an hour or so and breakfast at 8.

He is now teething again. Bleugh.

BF has stopped. I think I'm Sad. Not planned, we'd been mix feeding for ages and the number of bottles just started to increase, he has refused me every day for two weeks so I guess that is that. I didn't even think to express as we were down to night feeds only. Oh well. I managed 7 months! Not bad considering our very rocky start and the nipple shields which are going to be packed away in case I need them next time.

Anyone got any baby friendly Rhubarb recipes? I usually just do crumble. but suspect there may be too much sugar involved GrinGrinGrin

HoneyLovesCake · 15/08/2012 09:12

I love, love, love rhubarb. definitely think it's worth giving them a taste but it contains oxalic(sp?) acid which inhibits iron absorption so I wouldn't feed ds as much of it as I eat (I average at least 3 crumbles a week as I grow it Blush) Maybe try mixing stewed rhubarb with cream or yoghurt to make it less sharp?

HoneyLovesCake · 15/08/2012 09:54

aethel lady I know is 31wks pregnant & has piles Sad she wears her older child in a sling & has read heavy lifting could contribute to them. What do you think? Could babywearing contribute?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/08/2012 09:56

Kate I bet that is a lovely feeling knowing you can be full time mummy and not have to deal with the stress of working too.

Honey That's what we do with rhubarb add yoghurt Smile

CherryBlossom27 · 15/08/2012 10:24

HLC not stalking you this morning I promise! DS is having a nap so I'm on the Internet and being generally lazy :o I think even if your friend wasn't baby wearing she would still be lifting her kid wouldn't she, so I don't think it makes a huge difference. Has she been to the dr? They won't look so she needn't get embarrassed, they'll just give her a prescription. I think I had a mild case after giving birth but the dr gave me some pessaries and that sorted me out really quickly (the indignities of motherhood!).

MissRee · 15/08/2012 10:30

Ooooooh how exciting! I've just won a Britax 0+&1 car seat!!!! Shame I'd already bought her new one last week (but not yet fitted it) and got rid of the box! Will wait for it to come and decide which one to sell I think Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 15/08/2012 11:11

Cherry she's been prescribed xyloproct...is that the same as sheriproct I wonder? but it's not touching them; I suggested she ask for the pessaries too >_

HoneyLovesCake · 15/08/2012 11:11

Congrat MissRee

MissRee · 15/08/2012 11:24

Honey I think I had proctosedyl for my post birth bumbobbles Grin I had sheriproct too but I can't remember which of the two did the trick in the end Hmm

LittleMissFlustered · 15/08/2012 12:43

Bumbobbles?

BJR · 15/08/2012 12:45

This is going to sound a bit silly. But should a be worried that DS has just produced a nappy filled with bits of what looks like plastic bag? I am confused about where its come from but could possibly be bits of the plastic aprons the staff wear at his nursery for feeding and changing, figure he may have grabbed on and pulled a bit off.

Is it likely to cause him any problems?

aethelfleda · 15/08/2012 13:01

honey it's more likely to be the pregnancy-related changes, "heavy lifting" is more hauling furniture and lifting weights than carrying a child in. supportive wrap I'd have thought: it's imposible to say it has no effect but it's certainly not an association I am aware of. She may find it's temporarily more uncomfy to do the lifting, but paracetamol plus whatever low dose steroid cream does the trick is usually all that's needed and post pregnancy be v careful not to get bunged up.

bjr, are you sure it's actual plastic? What colour is it? Could it be eg grape, tomato or raisin skins? (plastic shreds are inert and will pass straight through as long as they are small. If the staff at nursery have eg bright blue aprons and the bits are blue then maybe a word is needed...)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/08/2012 13:23

Just been into my local Asda and picked up huge Ella Kitchen bags of Porridge & loops for breakfasts. bargain 3 for £5 Smile

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 15/08/2012 13:53

Right ladies. Who's got a Mei tai for back carrying purposes and are they comfortable/any good? x

BeeMyBaby · 15/08/2012 13:53

more importantly asda are selling malteasers and minstrels for £1 each, get 4 bags of them and get a free cinema ticket... I got 8 bags giving DH 2 cinema tickets and me lots of chocolate which he can't be mean about me scoffing.

BeeMyBaby · 15/08/2012 13:54

I have a mei tai for front and haven't used the back option often (although its very easy and very comfortable) as DD2 has a hair pulling habit.
