Yes, yes, it's a bit lame. I wanted to say: "Still fucking on!" but wary of causing offence....

I know 'biffing' is a bit PG Wodehouse, as well. You'll just have to humour me Grin

Hello,

Beans You poor love! I am really sorry to hear about your Grandad. I'm also very sorry to hear about your heart!! I hope it is all ok and will settle down when life calms a little for you. I hope it all goes well for you today.

Rubes I hope you had a good holiday.

Vag when is it you are coming over again? I am sure it is when Pickering holds its annual War Weekend and as I do not have the boys I am planning on getting out of here.

DS1 is back at school tomorrow and DS2 starts nursery on the 18th!! He is so so excited!!

Hope you are all well!

sybilfaulty · 03/09/2012 20:15

How did it go, Beans? Thinking of you xxxxxx

VagolaJahooli · 03/09/2012 20:46

Just popping on to see how beans got on. I guess it's only blood tests so won't know any results. Hopebtye phlebotomist was nice one.

Rubes well done to your little travellers. They and you must be shattered.

Kayz don's worry if your not around, it's all up in the air at the moment because ds1's holidays are actually the following week, but I havece in Amsterdam on thethe 23rd, so would not be able to come over on the weekend, anand dh can't take any time offd d later that weff so can't go the following weeke Trying to sort something out as i really want to see these friends.

McKayz · 03/09/2012 20:55

I was just thinking of having a day trip to London or something. Not sure about the logistics though of taking DD for an entire day in the sling. As the pushchair is too bulky for the underground and the trains.

Indith · 04/09/2012 08:25

How are you doing Beans?

Kayz full days out in the sling are the best days for ds2 :). He just chats to me, looks around at everything and snuggles in for a sleep whenever he is tired. He is always far more settled at the end of a day like that than he is after a day at home. Mind you he only goes in the pushchair if I need to buy milk (far too heavy to carry 8 pints home!)

Beans36 · 04/09/2012 08:42

Hi chaps
Blood test went well, thanks. Phlebotomists were awful, though. There were two doing loads of us and they just said, sit down please, then carried on their conversation with each other. No hello, no telling me what was going to happen, no nothing. V rude. Luckily I don't mind needles etc, but if DH had gone, he'd have passed out and they still probably wouldn't have acknowledged his presence! Never mind.
ECG tomorrow. DD2 starting back at childminder in 15 mins! Taking DD1 shopping for shoes, then she starts back tomorrow, in time for ECG.
Then appointment to speak to doctor Thursday morning. Quite keen to know what's going on!

Dad came for a visit yesterday, which was lovely. He clearly struggles so much with walking. Then Mum paid a surprise visit too, on her way back from seeing her Dad, who is still hanging on! Then my I laws popped round too. It was rather nice. Apart from FIL made a few twatty comments, as always! Never mind.

JollyJellyBear · 04/09/2012 10:14

Kayz We took J on a weekend in Glasgow when she was around 4 months just in the sling. I was a bit shattered but it was much easier than faffing with the pram. Get a rucksack for wipes etc and you'd be good to go. I miss carrying J in the sling. She was so snuggly and kissable.

Beans I hate it when they ignore you. Grrrr. Glad it all went well though.

I've had a slight name change. My mil was talking about mn the other day. Hope she's not a member! I felt I should make myself less searchable just in case!

McKayz · 04/09/2012 10:35

Beans, that sounds horrible. It doesn't take much to just stop talking and acknowledge that they have a patient. I hope the ECG goes well tomorrow.

The only problem I have with the sling is the toilet. When I have used it before DH has been with me, so I just took her out when I needed the loo. How do you go to the toilet?

I have decided to get out more. I love going to museums and galleries etc, We do loads when DH is home but I don't really do much when he's away. So one weekend while DH is away and when the boys are with XH I am going to go somewhere on the train. Otherwise I just laze about at home.

VagolaJahooli · 04/09/2012 11:16

Right I'm going to out myself as gross, but I used to just make sure he was high up on my torso, undo my jeans pull them down and off I go. Neither of my boys seemed to mind me doing a wee while they were in the sling esp when they were teeny. As they got bigger I would find a clean toilet and open up the change mat on the floor if the toilet stall was big enough and go then. Was a little trickier with DS2 as he crawled at 6 months, but he couldn't get away. Toilets at art galleries usually have a disabled toilet so plenty of room. If you are going to London I can tell you where the best toilets are in central London & there is always plenty of Starbucks around they usually don't care if you use their toilets without buying a coffee. Both boys spent so much of the first years of life in a sling.

JollyJellyBear · 04/09/2012 11:59

I'd hoik her and the sling up and lean forward. I used to be v careful with the fabric hanging down after it went into the toilet once. Thankfully I was at home.

If I was on my own and needed to retie the sling. I'd pick out a middle aged or older capable looking woman and ask her to hold J whilst I did it. They were always happy to help.

McKayz · 04/09/2012 12:04

Ahhh so you'd just leave them tied on. That makes sense. I'm thinking of trying to go to the natural history museum maybe. I loved it when I was little but haven't been in years. Unless anyone has any suggestions of museums etc

Rubena · 04/09/2012 12:19

Haven't a hope of catching up but read a couple of last pages.
Beans sorry you are having all this stuff going on - my Dad has an irregular heartbeat and all you described. He's fine though and just takes medication for it.(I think?) I would have passed out for sure. I had a crap new doc for my cannula with DD and did exactly that as he was faffing around too much.
I've done my fair share of sling peeing as well. Easy when they are quite small and very necessary!
Holiday was great thanks - a bit busy at times and very unplanned the whole way, which tends to get stressful but overall it was a lot of fun. My bro talked us into staying longer near him than planned then flew to parents and even extended a bit there as DH was able to get out of the one Friday at work he had, so he just had to be back for Monday morning. He got a lot of work done while we were away, so that was a relief, but it's piled up again for him [sigh]

VagolaJahooli · 04/09/2012 13:28

Kayz Museum of natural history is brilliant, lots of places to have a nice little sit down, I would maybe take your own lunch there are plenty of places to sit and eat it and makes it a little cheaper than the museum cafe.

VagolaJahooli · 04/09/2012 13:29

Oh and there is an underpass subway thing that goes from South Kensington station all the way to the museum.

KiwiPanda · 04/09/2012 13:51

Kayz I have done the sling all day (including loo trips Grin) plenty of times. Not so much with DD2 who is a bit more amenable to the odd spot of buggy action but DD1 was basically a sling-only girl until she could walk. The Nat History Museum is lovely but so is the V&A if you fancy a double museum whammy. If, however, you fancy shopping, Peter Jones (aka John Lewis) in Sloane Square - pretty near South Ken - has blissfully comfy feeding chairs upstairs in the changing/feeding room. I once fell asleep in one ...

McKayz · 04/09/2012 13:57

I'll have a look at the V&A thanks Kiwi.

How on earth do these museums and galleries stay open? Nearly all of the ones I have looked at are free.

VagolaJahooli · 04/09/2012 13:59

Expensive gift shops & cafes sweetie. Oh though I do love museum gift shops.

McKayz · 04/09/2012 14:02

Ah so that is how they do it. I remember having an amazing cake in the cafe in the National Gallery a few years ago.

spotofcheerfulness · 04/09/2012 14:57

BEans, you have so much going on in addition to your dicky ticker, I hope you are able to have a bit of time to just read or listen to music or watch shite telly - just to relax. Having people around that you like (FIL excepted) must be a nice distraction, but you also have to be "up" for them too. Glad your DH is being supportive, you need lots more where that came from.
Those phlebotomists sound awful! It's funny that a lot of people end up working in healthcare, but forget that "care" is part of the job (as well as the word!). Good luck with the ECG tomorrow. Do you get the results right away?

Am v interested in the museum and general London chat as am going to attempt a daytrip with both boys in my own . I will actually be meeting friends there who will be able to help toddler wrangle when I'm there but am more dreading the train journey there. T should be ok to distract with stickers, sweets and chat, but B will be trying to leave the eat wherever possible. Hmm.

Talking of B, he's cutting his back molars at the mo and sleep is even harder to come by than usual. Awake screaming all night and still up for the day at 5. Getting by on 7 hours a night. (Him, not me. I'm getting 3 broken hours if I'm lucky). Hoping they're through soon...

Still, on the plus side - I have a higher rated fanny than before. Saw the physio this morning and she said I'd improved a lot and am now a 3.5 out of 5. I had to have a probe stuck up my doodah while doing lunges. Dignity left at the door, but nice to get some recognition for my olympian squeezing efforts...

Indith · 04/09/2012 15:28

I've never even considered removing the child before using the loo Grin. Easier when they get a bit bigger and you put them on your back!

Good luck for tomorrow Beans.

Well done your fanjo Spot Grin.

Back to school for us tomorrow. We've had a lovely, lazy day int he Botanic gardens where various children ran around together and explored while we louged around on picnic rugs. We thought our children were just behind a tree for a long time but then realised they were not ours and in fact ours were all the way at the bottom of the gardens. Hey ho they were together and having fun and they came back eventually Grin. It is ok to let a bunch of 3-5 year olds run wild and free isn't it?

spotofcheerfulness · 04/09/2012 15:58

I think that's fine, in fact I would always choose free range over battery farmed children any day...
Oh, and on the sling chat, I would always go to the loo with it on, but often had trouble doing up my flies or leaving my pants hanging over my jeans, so good to check in the mirror that you're still "all together" before leaving the loo Smile

VagolaJahooli · 04/09/2012 16:49

Well done on the vajayjaygmuscles Spot. Does that mean you have been upgraded from a deficient to mildly useful vagina?

We are often letting our two roam the savanah, with various hangers on. In fact at the beach we actively encourage them to seek out other children to play with in the hope that they will have excited hands on parents who will also entertain our kids. Well don

Rubena · 04/09/2012 16:56

I just made the mistake of going to Clarks on the first week back of school. Massive mistake. Wine time moved forward.

Sounds like a delightful day Indith.

Well done on the Vagometer reading Spot.

LadyThompson · 04/09/2012 17:22

I'm back and lurking! Maybe I will even get time to post tomorrow when O goes back to pre-school.....Beans, so sorry about the heart stuff. At least they are on to it. I had to wear a heart monitor for 24hrs after an irregular heart beat. Turned out it was just after drinking too much one Christmas Grin Also I have a small heart murmur. But all is fine - hoping it will be for you too.

Welcome home Rubes! And bravo to the fanjo, Spot. KP, this is from ages ago but I hope work have now paid you. Any dice on the adjusting your hours?

Anyway, I DO have to do an El Biggo Catch Up so hope to be back soon. Eindhoven was nice and then I was staying in London for a 40th do. Just about recovered...

Kayz, I had to do a poo when I had DD2 in a sling and DD1 in the trolley in Morrisons in Streatham. DD2 was 3 weeks old and I had the sudden urge. Asked someone for loo and there wasn't a customer one! The woman on the till had kids of my own and understood how incontrollable the urge is for me at all times after you've had a baby and took me to the staff loo. She held DD1 who was 18 months , for me, while I did a poo and I kept DD2 on me throughout! Most humiliating!

Spot! Well done on the foof tightening. Before you know it, you'll be cracking walnuts up there. I still have a clown's pocket. Not nice.

I've been to Clarks today too, Pubes. Arrived at opening time, which was good! Got these for DD1, which flash. She's only just a size 7, so they're the first flashy shoes she's got into!
