Dec 08 Mums - still biffing on

Yes, yes, it's a bit lame. I wanted to say: "Still fucking on!" but wary of causing offence....

I know 'biffing' is a bit PG Wodehouse, as well. You'll just have to humour me Grin

Poor Izz. Is P better yet?

Phew Jam, Mother Nature is a hell of a tease sometimes, and not funny

I think we're going to get DD1 a kids camera for Christmas or her birthday, as she loves to use ours. But when I mentioned that maybe she'd like a camera of her own, she said she is fine borrowing mine, but she'd like a shirt and 2 lunch boxes instead!

I've never dated anyone famous, but I did hang out at Sarah Beeny's house the other week. She wasn't there though

Oh Beans that is funny!!

I've just started Xmas shopping. No idea what to buy the DC's. Although I have bought DS an Invotab (sp?) for his birthday. I wasn't too sure but he is always on DDs DSi or playing Angry Birds on my phone so I figure he would be ok with one. The problem is they have huge amounts of toys already and all he really plays with are his dinosaurs/animals. Don't need more as I could stock the Ark 10 times over!

Jam, pleased you got the result you wanted.

Aw Jam, it is always mixed feelings I think even when it wasn't part of the plan.

Beans That is so funny. Trust you to think about poo!

I'm keen on any Christmas or birthday ideas! Those with older girls like Sybs and RT, what are they into?

Indith, that looks great. Neither of the boys can ride their bikes.

Ah don't worry Beans there is plenty of time yet. For bikes have you seen the balance buddy? I dont' own one but another mum in my village does and they are fabulous, really, really fantastic. If she is fine on a balance bike then honestly using stabilisers is a step back because the difficult bit of cycling is the balance not the peddling. With a abalance buddy you can help her with the balance while she figures out the peddles the let go and grab itagain easily if she wobbles.

I never dated anyone famous. I shared a flat in Moscow with an actor though. He quit and came out to teach English. Was shagging a beautiful Italian girl within days. He spent far too long in the bathroom and used about 5 different products every morning on his hair alone. He was in some actual things I had heard of and stuff.

I had a few dates with an actor who was in Heartbeat when I first moved up here. Talked about himself all the time.

Guys, you must think I've cracked up. Missed a whole page is posts. Sorry!

HOW are you all so organised and even thinking about Xmas??? Dear GOD! I haven't even contemplated it, so am all over the shop. No idea what to det DD1 for birthday or Christmas, but suspect dressing up and various dolly things the way forward. Oh and a bike with stabilisers. DH think she should go from balance bike to no stabilisers, but I don't see him spending the time teaching her, TBH!

Poor Jam.
Just read hilarious thread about worst comments on dates. Some men are extraordinary. I was once introduced to a fantastically handsome actor who was in Holby for a bit, but still no one's heard of him. I'd fancied him in Emmerdale when I was at school. My friend introduced us with a piece of interesting information about him "Beans, meet Noah (real name, cool!), he's a vegan". My response (overwhelmed by starstruckness and general idiocy) "You must shit a lot". So proud. We dated for 3 months! Great sex, but man he was dull as hell!

Hello :)

Beans how are you doing? You are never far from my thoughts.

Gosh I can't believe we are hurtling towards christmas! I'm fairly close o being organised though, I just need one more stocking filler each for the dcs once they have done their letters to father christmas and the edible bits.

We have a zafira. It isn't ideal but it does well enough. We got it simply because it was the best thing in our price bracket at the time (5 years ago) and we can't afford to replace it! You can just squeeze 3 carseats in the back but we tend to put ds1 in the front and then dd and ds2 in the back and I can sit well enough in the middle. The plus is the huge boot and then you still have the extra seats for giving occasional lifts to friends. It is a very, very reliable car and is known for that. We've not had anything go wrong with it only replaced things like brak pads and timing belt at the appropriate mileage. Not sure what I would want to replace with tbh as other similar cars are not as reliable, stuff with 7 seats but with usable boot with all seats up is huge (zafira is based on the astra so nice size). Am hoping we can make the zafira last a few more years then get a ford mondeo when we don't have so many carseays to fit in!

Stupid far fingers. Grin

We've looked at 7 seaters and DH isn't keen on them. There's hardly any boot space if you use the back seats.

RT: Is it a powder or what kind of finish? I think the powder one I use absorbs loads of oil. Sometimes will blot with a tissue if I'm a bit shiny but only if out etc. Will initially just slowly start doing a bit for DH then increase when demand does. If it picks right up, at this stage my work wouldn't be a problem as I only am away average 4 nights a month, and I'd just have to play it by ear. Would def stop if it was necessary. The main thing initially would be the kids, so timing with DS starting school is looking really good, and if need be we will up DD's days in nursery. I'm going to start doing a bit more as soon as DH exams are over and go from there, but initially it will be a case of seeing how it goes.
Jam : what kind of contraception do you use? Mine are always of varying lengths. You should test! Hope you get the outcome you want. When did you decide you didn't want 3? Those of you that have 3, what size car do you drive? We've had to get this bigger car with just the 2 kids plus dog. We are all tall though I suppose, but it was actually dangerous for DH to drive in our other car with even DD sitting behind as he was too crunched up under the wheel otherwise she couldn't fit her legs down properly and that was a station wagon (estate car)!
Kayz" treat yourself to a runner - tis your Christmas too!
Got the kids Flanel PJ's from Primark yesterday (£4!!!) and they are bloody lovely! Far cry from Little White Co, but so far so good - I shall report back after they have been washed and tumble dried though Hmm
I've just cleaned the oven, and it wasn't closing properly, so mentioned to DH, and now the oven door is currently in a million parts all over the counter. He will do anything to get out of the work he said he had to do Grin

I want a table runner Sad DH looks at me like I am insane when I mention them. I might get a nice christmassy one and he'll have to lump it.

Vag, I couldn't go away for Christmas so I am no help to you. I go to my Mums but couldn't imagine being somewhere other than home.

Jam, I always find a pregnancy test makes my period come if I'm late.

London was amazing yesterday, exhausting but amazing. Wish I could go more often.

Hope everyone is well.

3wks cycle has been about a yr now. I am sure it will come today or tom. In fact it feels better having written it down. You know that if you tell someone something it will happen. The period I mean not the pregnancy.

Why dont you stay home for Christmas and do something for New Years instead.

Omg Jam, you have to test now, well you don't have to but i want you to. I know you can check up two 5 days before your due with some tests, but less accurate. How long have you been having the 3 week cycle, mine is a three week cycle but has only been that way since I stopped BFing late last year. Could it be that your cycle is messing about a bit.

I'm loving all the Christmas decoration talk. We are yet to decide what to do for Christmas, we have our niece here then and it would be nice to go somewhere, maybe in Germany or Scotland. But we haven't had a Christmas at home for 2 years and not in this home so might also be nice to stay here.

Must sort out the Halloween house today. RT how is DD2's leg?

Still not had a chance to post properly.

I am writing this down so that it will magically arrive, normally 3wk cycle sometimes (rarely) 4wk cycle is now 4wks and 2 days! I have to test dont I? Just when DH and I decided we definitely didnt want to go down the No.3 route. How soon can I test? Cock cock cock.

Hmmm, the jury is still put on the Chantecaille foundation test. Those of you with oily skin, how often would you expect to have to blot your forehead in a day to stop your foundation looking shiny? I looked quite shiny by 4pm but blotting sorted me out 'til 6pm. Is it unrealistic to wish not to have to blot or powder over foundation at all?

Rubes - when you work FT for your DH will you give up cabin crewing? What about all the free travel???

Yesterday's Halloween decorating went well. We now have a swarm of bats on the front window, a witches cat guarding thekitchen window and some twigs swinging with tiny homemade (and unrecognisable) pumpkin decorations on the mantle piece. Now I just have to make a shark and an alien costume....
