mrsh I was just coming on to message you about class tomorrow. Yes we will be there Smile. S seems better, has ate more today than the past few days which I'm glad about, Infact she even had extra with her dinner! Greedy guts Grin.
Sorry to hear wee L has been unwell Sad. What did OOH doc suggest? Is there anything that triggers the sickness? Btw, are you still trying with a bottle? I have one that I got from the baby show that's ment to be good at coaxing a newborn to take as its squeezy. It's a by 'nuby'. I can bring it for you if you want to give it a try?

engels glad to hear the good news with helmet. Fingers crossed not to much longer!

My girl was 11 months yesterday Shock. This time last year I was finishing up for my maternity leave and panicking at what the hell I was going to wear to my brothers wedding Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/09/2012 10:29

Aww sorry mrsH and fuzzy just noticed the MSG about sing and sign. And I've already promised C that we'll go to soft play today, we haven't been out all week as C got the afternoon slot at nursery so we're stuck at home miles from anywhere till 3-30 every weekday Sad

Penelope1980 · 01/09/2012 21:29

One questions I have been meaning to ask for ages as see it a lot on MN - what is soft play? (When I lived in the UK I knew nothing about the world of children so never came across the term)

I spent much of Thurs and Fri at home as DH too sick to look after A (with only a week to go before going to work again!). It was a real reminder how much he's changed since I was home full time - he is so much faster, more willful and likes to grab things! He's much funnier as well.

ClimbingPenguin · 01/09/2012 21:49

Those indoor play centres, something like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=661&tbm=isch&tbnid=8pkMvQXb-TIDzM:&imgrefurl=www.jungletastic.com/&imgurl=www.jungletastic.com/images/play_frame.jpg&w=385&h=305&ei=P3RCUICUK-fZ0QX91IHwCw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=748&vpy=310&dur=53&hovh=200&hovw=252&tx=97&ty=95&sig=112128123628283613388&page=3&tbnh=152&tbnw=197&start=42&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:42,i:283" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this or for younger children <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=661&tbm=isch&tbnid=qeyx3tYC39wQ7M:&imgrefurl=www.casoftplay.co.uk/&imgurl=www.casoftplay.co.uk/danfront.gif&w=450&h=361&ei=P3RCUICUK-fZ0QX91IHwCw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=184&vpy=364&dur=8&hovh=201&hovw=251&tx=171&ty=186&sig=112128123628283613388&page=3&tbnh=143&tbnw=179&start=42&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:18,s:42,i:293" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

The skin on DS's head is playing up again and little red bald patches are back.

strawberrypenguin · 02/09/2012 12:25

mrsH how is L today?

eng good helmet news :) (and I think you've been brave!)

fuzzzy 11 months! Where has the time gone! Glad S is feeling better

First day at nursery tomorrow :( spending my afternoon labelling stuff for him to take. I'm sure W will be fine it's me i'm worried about!

lovinbeingmum · 02/09/2012 12:26

hi all. been off for a while and not been able to stay along with the thread. did see a lot of babies not keeping too well....hope things are better. fuzzzy great news on the teeth* engels one and a half months more of the helmet...count down begins! and mrsH* hope she's better....doc tomorrow?

at our end, grand parents in town...R is loving it! they came in with a virus which he had for a couple of days. with the cough and cold and the big G's, day time sleep has gone for a toss and there are multiple wake ups in the night...yaaaaawwwn....

quick question...is it ok to give babies barmbrack? i picked up some from tesco and R is LOVING it!! however i just googled and got something on sherry soaked fruits....oops......but wouldn't tea cakes or fruit bread be the same?

Engelsemama · 03/09/2012 08:23

Just noticed my typo in my last post. I guess I should be grateful that DH didn't do any hovering on his day at home with DS Grin

Have just dropped my friends (visiting from States) off at the station so they can get the train up to Amsterdam for the day and then catch their train on to Paris this evening. Am feeling just a teeny bit jealous - my day will consist of getting the house straight again, washing , catching up on school work....unless I can think of anything more exciting to do (open to ideas!).

lovin I have no idea what barmbrack is, but we gave M a smidge of tiramasu last night (complete with amaretto).

hope W gets on okay at nursery Strawb . I keep forgetting to label so am doing it in fits and starts.

M managed to break his cup at the end of last week - he threw dropped it on the floor one too many times and the handle broke off

lovinbeingmum · 03/09/2012 14:03

yoo hoo engels was beginning to wonder where everyone is..tiramisu really!! :)

barmbrack is simply put irish fruit bread..at least that's what it looks like to me...

i always thought you were in amsterdam...how i love that city!!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 03/09/2012 14:12

lbm sounds like R is getting a taste for the good stuff early WinkGrin. I'm sure it's ok!

Iv had no S all morning so have had a mad few hours cleaning the whole house. Was starting to get very messy Blush but looking and feeling much better now!

We now have 2 teeth Grin. Second bottom one cut through a few days ago. Was much the same as the first, high temp and unsettled but goes straight back to her normal self the following day. They are starting to proper show now, it's so cute! Think it's going to change her whole face.

Have been getting organised for her birthday party this weekend. Had a trial cake bake run yesterday and made lists of food etc. started making decorations last night which was exciting. Planning to go present shopping next week. Haven't a clue what to get her mind you so will be googling tonight

Hope everyone and baby's are all good Smile

Engelsemama · 03/09/2012 15:05

wow fuzzzy - can't believe it's her birthday next weekend already! I think Ms dream birthday present would be a set of coasters thathe can chew on without me shouting at him and taking them away every 5 mins Grin

M's teeth have always come in pairs as well.

Don't head up to Amdam much lovin* because DH hates it . Last time I was there was when pregnant trying to sort out marriage licence at the British consulate. Haven't worked out if I'm feeling brave enough to try the trams and cobbled streets with a pushchair yet. Have to head up to the Consulate at some point and register M's birth so that he qualifies for British citizenship.

We're about an hour and a half away from Am*dam, right on the German border. Actually. it's ridiculous that i could head to all these great places on my days off and I always just seem to stay at home and do the whole cycle of washing/washing-up/nap/feed/change week after week. maybe I should break the cycle on my next day off?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 03/09/2012 15:36

fuzzy i cant believe how quickly their first birthdays are coming round either. i've got/getting M a rocker from gumtree cause i'm cheap Mamas&papas and a minnie mouse teddy cause she is constantly stealing christopher's mickey and he's not pleased about it. i'm totally stuck about what to do on her actual birthday though i'm not throwing a party like i did for C cause i cant afford it this time round, and i dont think she particularly "cares" about days out to zoo or similar, but seems really sad to let it all go without a huge fuss as Christopher got TWO 1st birthday parties with loads of food toys etc etc poor M get's nothing Sad
i think M's top teeth are on the way through ATM she was rubbing her top gum with her thumb yesterday and has been a little unsettled when going to sleep. although she has now sleept through without a dream feed a couple of times in the past week WOOHOO!!!
In terms of food M has now tried lychees, raw onion Confused, cucumber and DH's curry which is too hot for me she loves swedish meatballs, actually TBH she has yet to reject any type of food I'm pretty sure she would eat anything.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 03/09/2012 16:08

Just realised I worded that wrong! Her birthday is end of this month (30th). Ment I'll be getting organised this weekend for her birthday Blush Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 03/09/2012 16:16

Grin that's funny about the coasters! S dream present would be the hair dryer and my ghds. She likes playin with the buttons on the hairdryer but then gets a fright when it comes on and she quickly crawls away Grin
We were at a class on Saturday and there was a pop up tent that she had great fun in so I'm thinking something like that maybe. There is a 'princess' castle shaped one in mothercare that I was thinking about. Prob a but young for now but I guess it's something that she will play with a lot as she gets older. My brother and sil are buying her a sandpit and my mum and dad got her the swing. We are planning a garden party (praying for nice weather!) but I'm def not going ott as I don't have the money to. There is about 20 adults and 6 kids coming so nothing wild! I'm starting to wonder if her dad will remember its her birthday... Anyone wants to place bets?!?!

lovinbeingmum · 03/09/2012 20:59

engels you have exciting options (not the consulate of course).....off you go...so that the rest of us can get some vicarious pleasure :) btw we have another coaster lover. in fact, at one point in time, I used them to try and shovel some puree in till he got wise to me and chucked them away whenever on the highchair.

fuzzzy love the hair dryer bit. i wanted to get R a trike for his b'day..but (a) they are pricey! (b) the rain, the rain and if that isn't enough..some more rain....wonder how much we'll end up using it. As for the bet, how often has her dad/sperm donor made an effort to see her through her first year. he really has no idea what he's missing out on, does he...

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 03/09/2012 21:07

lbm he last seen her when she was 6 weeks old ConfusedShock so I highly doubt it Grin. I'm really enjoying how everyone is telling me that she is now my double, esp as she was his double when born!!! Trike sounds good, elc do ones that convert right up to older age Smile

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 03/09/2012 21:19

lbm the new smart trike comes with a rain cover Grin I had one when Christopher was small but never used it as you need a car to go anywhere and it didn't fold down.

lovinbeingmum · 03/09/2012 21:29

edward i had no idea! thanks!! am ordering one tomorrow. hopefully can get a few sunny days in...tho' knowing my luck, the day it's delivered is the day the sun will go on vacation :)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 03/09/2012 21:53

lbm you will get good use out of it nxt year tho Grin. Spring is only 6 months away!!

ClimbingPenguin · 04/09/2012 08:22

we had/have the trike, I'd say good if you can store it where it is really easy to get out (otherwise you won't use it) and have a park/somewhere you don't mind walking nearby.

lovinbeingmum · 04/09/2012 13:54

fuzzzy now that's positive thinking Smile

climbin there's never enough storage space but on the second count we do have regent's park close by, which is quite huge and lovely....

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 05/09/2012 09:36

Hi ladies, what's the general pattern that teeth come through in? Is it 2 bottom, 2 top, then what next?

ClimbingPenguin · 05/09/2012 10:06

then the next bottom ones, then first molar's, canines and second molars. although it isn't that uncommon for them to come up in a random order. I think there might be a page in the red book giving the information.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 05/09/2012 10:07

An thanks cp Smile. I'll have a look in red book

Engelsemama · 05/09/2012 18:21

Evening all.

everyone had a good day? Have just put M to bed, all bathed and smelling srummy (better than smelling of poo as he did when we picked him up from nursery...diarrhoea doing the rounds today apparently good job DH is on duty tomorrow then )

Finding it hard to get used to being back at work - balancing enough time with M with getting my work done to a standard I'm happy with and keeping the house ticking over and not descend into a pigsty but am getting there.

Thinking about going out for the day on my own with M on Friday. Want to go and explore.

LittlePebble · 05/09/2012 21:19

Hi all, sorry haven't been able to read everything I've missed. (and sorry for woe is me post)

Have had to start back at old work (dp's company) 3 days a week and had first day today Sad really struggling leaving E and wish we didn't need the money/ the business didn't need me back. Sad
