Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
strawberrypenguin · 05/09/2012 23:31

It's horrible isn't it lp I hate leaving W at nursery even tho they are great. I have Wednesdays off (work sat instead) and loved my day with him today.

Random question but does anyone else still have split stomach muscles from pregnancy? I still have a nice gap and it's making losing my tummy flab really tricky.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 06/09/2012 08:07

I dont think I had split muscles, I remember her checking before I left the hospital. Is it something that repairs itself?
I'm phoning doctor this morning. I went to donate blood s few weeks back but wasn't allowed as my iron levels were too low. I got a letter through advising me to see GP as very low. I'm beginning to think its what's causing my low mood at times and also the hair loss, It's still coming out in clumps! My hair line is so thin now Sad. Im thinking it's either the lack of iron or possibly thyroid. Gah, why can't things be normal again!!

ipswichwitch · 06/09/2012 22:15

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I'm back to work on phased return (2days this week), and doing much better. The counselling has already helped me much more than I hoped for. N is doing great- he's standing, with hand holding, and taking a few steps!! No crawling tho, but he still doesn't like being on his front, but rolls around and sits quite happily. I can't believe the change in him since he started on the iron treatment.

Took him to the beach for his first paddle in the sea at the weekend- we always seem to go when it's foggy/raining down there! He loved it, had a fab time splashing about and only cried when we put him back in the buggy to come home :) seems to have brought half the beach back judging by the pile of sand in the car....

Dont know about the stomach muscles sp, I had a section and have been left with a shelf :(

CheshireDing · 07/09/2012 06:44

Sad for the "shelf" Ips. I think Dh has one of those Grin

I hope everyone's feeling better now. Any more teeth Fuzzzy? Still gummy baby here Smile

I don't recommend going on a flight of about more than 90 minutes with a crawling 10/11 month old who has to be restrained. I need a holiday now!!

Pebble fx for you it's only temporary and then you can spend your time with your business and E. It's a bit of a catch 22 isn't it really need to go to normal work for money to invest in the business but need the time to spend on the business. You have to try these things though.

Hope nursery has been going okay for the babies who have started this week. P has her first 2 hours this morning, eeeeck!!

What's the version of soft play in NZ then Pene?

Penelope1980 · 07/09/2012 21:33

Here we just refer to it by the name of the place - usually Lollipops Playland or Junglerama, and given how often it's discussed on MN I think we musn't have quite so many - I live in the Capital of the country and there is only one.

cheshire how was the nursery? A is going well, although cries when I drop him off but not when DH does.

My muscles went back together at about 6 weeks - 2 months - I just know because I joined an exercise group for mums that had recently had babies and the instructor checked.

I am ok - my step Dad is really sick and in ICU this week so feeling very tired and overwhelmed

lovinbeingmum · 07/09/2012 21:57

pene best wishes for your dad

engels tell us you did get out and about with M today to all the fab accessible places Smile

summer trips to the park are getting to be more and more fun as R keeps screaming for the ducks and duhs (that can be translated to dog)....though of course other babies are ducks as well, as are their moms and pigeons and crows and cats and cars....Smile

ips beach sounds fab!!

fuzzzy you've scared me with the thyroid thought. had low iron, consumed tablets for three months but the hair fall is still uncontrollable...guess i need to go for a blood test again....

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 07/09/2012 23:27

pen sorry to hear about your dad. Hope everything is ok x
lbm yeah I went to gp. I showed her the letter with the results that the blood transfusion people had sent me. She was a little 'meh, it's just hormones from havin a baby that's causing hair loss, dry skin etc. can take a year to sort its self out'. when I told her S was 1 in 3 weeks she agreed to blood again. I asked her to have it checked for thyroid to. I've always been certain I've had thyroid problems, but it's never been fully looked into. I had a cyst removed from my neck 6 years ago that was attached to my thyroid. No idea if it's now related Confused. Have to phone back Monday and see what they say. It's the hair loss that's getting me down. I honestly thought it wasn't going to stop coming out in the shower the other morning! I have no hairline at the front anymore! I guess it won't hurt for you to ask them to test again. Do you know what your iron levels were? Average is 12.5-18 iirc, mine was 9.
ips so happy to hear the medication is going well! What a huge difference!
cheshire how did you find travelling on plane with P? Grin. Luckily S wasn't crawling when I went, I imagine you had it much harder!!!

Hope everyone else is good Smile

Engelsemama · 08/09/2012 08:44

pen so sorry to hear about your dad. sending you best wishes, big hugs and keeping my fx.

lovin I was not adventurous enough to head to Amsterdam or anywhere remotely exotic, but I did get out of the house. Took M for a walk through our local woods/park. he fell asleep withing 15 mins of leaving home so was able to stop in a shady spot and read for an hour, then when he woke up we wandered round the local children's farm so he could look at the animals (though he seemed more interested in all the other children!). Still, pleased I got out of the house for 2 hours. I'm going to think about a proper day out next Friday (Monday he has dr's appt and have a friend visiting who hasn't met M yet).

I went for a run on Thursday night with my running buddy - we trained for a 10k together in May but have both been useless in getting out since then. I think we managed to do more gossiping than running, but was great fun. Only did about 20 mins running so I reckon we might have done about 3k. Now I just have to get back into the habit Smile

Going to tackle the garden today, wish me luck Smile

have a good day everyone.

Engelsemama · 08/09/2012 08:49

cheshire I always feel like a holiday when I get back from the UK. How did nursery go?

LP Just think of what you can do with the money (though that may not help if the answer is "buy nappies"). One of the best things for me is when I come home, and the moment that M sees me. After spending the whole day with adults and teenagers, M always looks so tiny!

strawb I don't think I have split s.muscles - though I definitely still have a "mummy tummy" as very kindly pointed out by one of my colleagues last week (she had a baby 7 weeks before me). She said my mum tum made ehr feel better about still having one Hmm Err, thanks! She's twice the size ofme!

lovinbeingmum · 08/09/2012 22:25

fuzzzy have you had the blood test already? when i had gone to the doc he mentioned that one is low iron/ hameoglobin (which is the 12-18 count - i average 10ish) and another is low ferritin. the latter is also a form of iron in the body but they are different tests. ferritin needs to be 80 or something for good hair growth.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 08/09/2012 23:40

lbm I went to gp on Thursday and she repeated the bloods to test iron levels. The results I had before were from when I tried to donate blood but couldn't as a failed the finger prick test as levels to low. I've to call on Monday for results, but I'll ask for a copy of them so I can see for myself.
I've been reading up a lot on the hair loss. One girl I found on google swears by simply brushing around the hairline as much as poss in order to boost the blood flow. It's taken her 3 years for it to fill out again but has but has been worth it.

strawberrypenguin · 09/09/2012 11:20

pen sorry to hear about your dad, hope things are ok

fuzzzy hope docs can sort something out for you

eng Hmm at your colleague how rude!

Engelsemama · 09/09/2012 11:38

I'm feeling sorry for myself. Sad DH and I both have a sickness bug. I started throwing up late yesterday afternoon and retired to bed very early. Left DH to sort out M as they were both fine. Woke up feeling a bit wobbly and empty today but otherwise on the mend, to find that DH is now ill, so he's in bed while I'm looking after M.

I need someone to be my servant and peel my grapes til I feel 100%

ClimbingPenguin · 09/09/2012 15:06

engels hope you feel better soon. We had a sickness bug here, DD was sick a couple of times but OK, DS didn't get it, DH only got nausea but I was really quite sick. I have never so sick that in the end nothing comes out. Took me about 4 days to get back to normal actually. DH saw I was quite ill with it and did loads of stuff over the few days though so that was great.

pene how are things there?

DS's sleep still not great here

CheshireDing · 09/09/2012 16:55

P seemed fine at nursery Pene, I think by the time she had poked around at everything and everyone and checked out the toys it was time for pick-up (DH and I went for coffee and breakfast while she was there and read a paper!!). sorry to hear about your Step Dad, I hope he is better soon.

Fuzzzy I have this new tuft of hair at the front which sticks up and is all fluffy and my hair comes out in the shower but I think it has stopped a bit less than it used to be. Random you said about the thyroid as the Pregnancy Reflexology woman said I had a thyroid problem.

Climbing am bored of waiting for No2 to turn up though, it should have been well cooked by now we decided to try in March Grin < not impressed emoticon >

Engels how rude is your colleague!!

Have you al been eating my home made macaroons?? Grin I feel ill now and they tasted rank (first attempt), I might buy them for P's birthday now instead.

CheshireDing · 09/09/2012 16:57

Feel for you in the sleep front Climbing, P has done 2 good nights and I am loving that!

ClimbingPenguin · 09/09/2012 19:44

Last night was a good night for us

Sleep at 7
Wake at 10:30, 1:00, 3:00 (but took 30 mins to put down), 4:30, 6:30.

TallyBear · 09/09/2012 22:07

Hi girls, fell off the thread so just jumping back on....

Sorry to all those ill (any families) hope you are all better soon.

CheshireDing I've got a baby fringe too, so annoying.

TallyBear · 09/09/2012 22:07

[and]

Penelope1980 · 10/09/2012 08:06

Thanks for your nice messsages re my step dad Smile The good news is he's recovering slowly, and life is back to normal (in relative terms) after spending much of last week hanging out in hospital waiting rooms. He's still in hosp, but not critical. So relieved.

Hope those of you with bugs are ok!

DH and I went shopping for A's first birthday today! It was fun. We ended up getting a ball, a bag for creche, a book and some toys for the bath. And it was so hard to stop there, I wanted my pfb to have everything ...

CheshireDing · 10/09/2012 10:03

Climbing that is hideous sleep pattern :( :( It's funny how some of them seem to sleep so much better than others at this age - funny in an ironic/disturbed kind of way I mean.

I think P loves nursery, fx, when I got her out of the car this morning she was all excited and knew where she was. When she saw the Baby Room she was all shouting and going stiff (random thing she seems to do when excited) Grin

I feel very bad last night, P woke about midnight and I fed her then put her back down and she started crying. Went back to bed and turned the monitor to silent and put it next to my head, I was going to give her 4 minutes as I knew she wasn't hungry and has slept well the previous 2 nights. I woke up 1 hr 40 mins later!! The monitor was still on silent and I had to go in and wake her up because she had pooed. I feel awful, she hates being changed in the night and screamed the place down because all her clothes had to be changed and now I feel that was probably why she was crying initially because she wanted a poo. Feel very quilty today :(

Those toys sound lovely Pene, I read it's good for them to be held up and kick the ball, P likes to do that but she is heavy to hold up!!

Welcome back Tally :)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 10/09/2012 16:31

Hello all
pa I guess now you must be used to the night waking. I don't know how you do it. Touch wood, S is sleeping 11 hrs at night. Odd night she has a wee cry about 11ish but it's usually as she has turned and her head is hitting off the cot bars Hmm.
cheshire what is it you do with P and the potty? I've noticed in the evenings when I'm getting S ready for bath, when I take her nappy off to air her bum, without fail she wee's and sometimes poo's. Would it be worth sitting her on potty do you think? I don't know if she is noticing its not on and therefor doing her business. It's been every night for the past week now few times on the living room carpet

Not much happening here.. S was walking quite a bit on her own yesterday going between the couch and her activity station. It's cute watching her standing there, synching herself up for it then letting go Grin. Usually is only 4 steps as well!!

20 days till her birthday, OMG Shock

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/09/2012 17:51

Hi al
pen glad to hear you dad's getting better hope it continues to improve.
fuzzy yay for Sophia walking what a clever girl!
pa that night waking sounds horrific ((hugs)) you must be exhausted!

I've just been and ordered M's first hard shoes and her coat for winter and am blooming shocked! Nearly keeled over in the shop! £40 for shoes and £50 for coat Shock I never really noticed when C was small as I always bought him converse or trainers.

LittlePebble · 10/09/2012 19:16

Hi!
Jumping back in I'm afraid it's all so hectic chez pebbles...
Cheshire yes you hit the nail on the head it's hard having to work to get money because the business isn't bringing in enough to support me - and it means I can't do the work on the business so how will it ever support me iyswim?!

Great that S is walking fuzzzy E is standing now but no steps yet I think it may be a while he's too fast at crawling and loves it.

PA Sad for your nights I hope they get better soon. It's only really in the last month that E has started sleeping through and last week he was up four nights with some random pain somewhere!

Pene glad stepdad is ok and very exciting buying presents for A's birthday Smile

engels yes I keep repeating think of the money and have already bought myself some nice underwear Grin

ipswichwitch · 10/09/2012 19:40

peneweve been having fun present shopping too- N is 1 on the 4th. However we bought so much as the sales are on that we're keeping half of it for Christmas Grin

cp I really feel for ya- only recently started a better sleeping pattern of waking at 11 and 5 with occasional 3am waking. We were having 1.5 hourly wakings, which tbh contributed to my breakdown. He's been restless the last couple of night as he now has conjunctivitis (oh joy). Am hoping that this is the last in a long list of ailments for a while.

cheshire, N does the same when we go to nursery :)

:) for all the standing and walking. N is just starting to stand with his hands on furniture but unsupported (woo hoo!) no crawling though, seems he's going to pass that one by as he has no interest in being on his front.
